TCFGBH Chapter 53

TCFGBH Chapter 53

A row of colorful glasses lined up neatly, the rich aroma of alcohol permeating the air.

The bartender today was Xu Rang, someone Xia Yan was familiar with. He had an apprentice with him. The apprentice was slightly shorter than Xia Yan, around 1.79 meters tall, with a buzz cut, well-defined features, thick eyebrows, and big eyes. When he smiled, there was a goofy innocence about him.

“Brother Xia, drinking this much by yourself—won’t you end up drunk?”

“Why do you care?” Xu Rang gave his apprentice a shove. “Brother Xia will naturally have someone to take him home. He’s not the type to put himself in a bad spot. Go wash the glasses.”

The apprentice smiled sheepishly and quickly scurried off.

The young man’s fingers brushed along the rim of the glass as he selected a margarita with a pale yellow liquid. He swirled the drink, his gaze playful as he looked at the bartender. “You’re a bit harsh, aren’t you?”

“Stop!!” Ah Rang stepped back and made a big ‘X’ with his hands in front of his chest. “Stop turning on the charm. That kid obviously has a crush on you. I need to nip it in the bud.”

“Don’t you like me?”

“I like your money.”

“So heartless.”

The bartender laughed mockingly, his eyes sweeping over a group of patrons drowning their sorrows in silence.

Who’s the heartless one here?

The young man seemed to be teasing casually and didn’t take it to heart. He raised his glass and took a small sip.

The strong tequila in the margarita, mixed with the salt around the rim, exploded on his tongue. After the fiery heat came the gentle fragrance of lime.

“A Rang’s drinks are getting better and better.”

“Thanks for the compliment.”

Their exchange was familiar, yet without a trace of ambiguity.

The young man took another sip, and as he tilted his head back, his peripheral vision caught sight of a calm-looking Omega. His eyes fluttered slightly, and he offered his cocktail, “Do you want a taste?”

“Mm.”

Shen Wenqing nodded and leaned in, licking the edge of the glass like a kitten drinking water.

Even though there was a layer of glass between them, Xia Yan had the illusion that his palm was being licked. He knew what the other man’s lips tasted like.

Like sweet peach candy.

Utterly irresistible.

Through their entanglements, the Omega’s pheromones had already conditioned his body to subconsciously react to Shen Wenqing.

Yet Xia Yan himself was completely unaware.

“It tastes good.” The man raised his head, the corner of his lips glistening with alcohol. His refined and elegant features were gradually tinged with temptation. He leaned closer to the young man’s ear and whispered, “It’s as spicy as you, Yan Yan.”

Xia Yan’s earlobes flushed slightly, his heart trembling, but outwardly he remained as casual and relaxed as ever. With a grin, he slowly pushed the half-finished drink into the man’s hand. “If you like it, it’s yours.”

Not daring to look at the man’s expression, Xia Yan nonchalantly started on the next drink.

Ordinary gifts require unwrapping; food-related gifts need to be tasted to be appreciated.

Xia Yan’s tolerance for alcohol had been honed across two worlds. Six cocktails, each with just a little sipped—he remained unfazed.

[Task 3: Receive ten gifts from Shen Wenqing. (Completed)]

With the previous task done, the next one popped up.

[Task 4: Let the people in the bar know that you’re dating. (0/500)]

Xia Yan glanced at the task panel and started discussing it with the system: [Looks like I need to complete Task 2 first. It’ll probably take some time—]

Before he could finish speaking, the system panel suddenly flashed.

[Task 4: Let the bar… know you’re dating. (500/500) (Completed)]

Xia Yan was bewildered: [What just happened? Is this a bug?]

[Maybe everyone in the bar thinks you two are already dating.] The system muttered quietly. [It’s like the ‘affair task’ from the last world, highly subjective.]

What’s this called?

A surprise from the heavens.

Xia Yan happily accepted the free task completion and looked at the newly refreshed Task 5.

[Task 5: Go to S University, reveal your true nature, become hated, and fall from grace. (Hatred value 0/1000)]

[Task 6: Pending refresh.]

Based on the rules from the last world, Xia Yan had already figured out that the mainline tasks followed the trajectory of the original owner’s life. The original owner’s fate could more or less be inferred from the first five tasks that had now been revealed.

Finishing two tasks in a row, a faint hint of joy appeared on the young man’s face.

“Yan Yan.” A hand slid around his shoulders, pulling him into a hug. The man rested his head against Xia Yan’s shoulder and softly asked, “What’s making you so happy?”

“I just remembered something.” Xia Yan’s eyes flickered mischievously. “Do you think we’re… dating?”

Shen Wenqing chuckled lightly. “What do you think, Yan Yan?”

“We should be dating,” Xia Yan mused, stroking his chin and giving the man a teasing look. “But you haven’t confessed yet, so it doesn’t count.”

“If I confess, would you say yes?”

Xia Yan’s heart skipped a beat, and his breath almost faltered. Was he about to score a trifecta today? A glimmer of excitement flashed in his eyes. “Why not give it a try? You might be surprised.”

The young man’s appearance was already striking, but with eyes brimming with anticipation, who could resist?

Even knowing Xia Yan’s feelings were shallow—where dating seemed more like child’s play—Shen Wenqing couldn’t help but soften his heart.

“Yan Yan, let’s date.”

He followed Xia Yan’s lead, saying the words he wanted to hear. When Xia Yan nodded, a hint of sweet joy rose within him.

These past few days have felt like a dream to Shen Wenqing.

First, he unexpectedly presented as an Omega, and then even more unexpectedly, he liked someone. Even though his mind told him to stay away, every step he took brought him closer.

Task 2 completed.

New task auto-refreshed.

[Task 6: Be abandoned by Shen Wenqing.]

Xia Yan looked at the new task and suddenly had a bold idea. He eagerly said, “Is this what love feels like? So if you break up with me now, would that mean I’ve had my first heartbreak?”

Shen Wenqing’s fleeting joy evaporated instantly, like a bubble popping in mid-air.

And yet Xia Yan, oblivious to the mood shift, continued, “Come on, say ‘Let’s break up.’”

“…” Shen Wenqing, expressionless, handed Xia Yan a drink, swiftly changing the subject. “Yan Yan, have a drink.”

“You don’t want to? I think it would be fun.”

“How about a Manhattan?”

A Manhattan is a classic cocktail made with whiskey and sweet vermouth. It starts spicy and ends sweet—quite popular.

Seeing Shen Wenqing’s reaction, Xia Yan sighed softly in his heart.

Sigh! Looks like Shen Wenqing is determined not to break up with him.
