TCFGBH Chapter 59

TCFGBH Chapter 59

People were coming and going at the school gate. The security guard was sitting on a chair, legs crossed, reading a newspaper.

The phone buzzed continuously. Shen Wenqing had made five or six calls, all of which Xia Yan deliberately ignored. He wanted to make the other party bow their heads and behave like jerks.

But… where should he go now?

Xia Yan thought for a moment and decided to find a “flirtatious target.” As usual, his WeChat was flooded with unread messages. Scrolling through the names, he found Wen Changming.

He had met Wen Changming twice, and the man’s attitude made him feel comfortable each time. Wen Changming even claimed to be his fan without showing any obsessive pursuit.

In his previous life, Xia Yan had been wealthy, and he knew that a few million wasn’t a big deal for people like them.

However, receiving expensive gifts for no reason still made him feel a bit uneasy.

Would he spend his own money on gifts?

The original owner wasn’t short of money, but the bank card had only about a hundred thousand yuan, just enough for personal expenses and not enough to buy a decent diamond ring.

So…

The young man looked down at his left hand.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre watch that the protagonist shou had bought, with a dark brown alligator strap, a complex and exquisitely crafted dial, and 39 small embedded gemstones, was worth 1.57 million yuan—a tourbillon watch from the Heritage series.

Xia Yan: “…” Alright, it’s decided. You’re the one.

When Wen Changming received Xia Yan’s message, he was in the middle of an international conference.

The cool white light from the computer shone on his gentle and elegant features, adding a touch of coldness to his demeanor. On the other side of the video call, a doctor in a white coat excitedly explained the progress of the experiment in English.

“… This is a great discovery, Wen.”

“Mm.” Wen Changming nodded slightly, appearing focused, but in reality, his mind was filled with thoughts of a certain young man. The rose lapel pin in his suit pocket pressed faintly against his skin, causing a subtle, uncomfortable sensation.

The middle-aged professor, whose hair was in disarray, didn’t notice his distraction and continued talking non-stop.

It wasn’t clear how much time had passed.

Wen Changming heard the other person say, “… At the latest, the new Omega suppressant will enter human trials in three months. If the process goes smoothly, it can be released on the market in a year. We’ve succeeded, Wen!”

“Three months…”

“Yes, my friend,” the man in the white coat laughed heartily. “We will make history.”

Wen Changming closed his eyes, his expression complex.

“Aren’t you happy, Wen? We’ve poured so much effort into this.”

“I don’t know, Pix,” Wen murmured softly. His voice was so quiet that it faded into the air before the microphone could capture it.

The stark contrast between the two sides of the conversation made the excited man in the white coat frown.

Before they could continue discussing, Wen Changming’s phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the screen, and the gloom in his expression gradually disappeared, replaced by a hint of gentleness. A sweet smile even appeared on his lips.

“Wow! Do you have a lover?”

Wen Changming glanced at him. “Not yet.”

Pix understood the implication. “Congratulations.”

Wen Changming quickly tapped the keys on his phone, replying to the young man’s question. Three minutes later, he said to the man on the other end, “I have a very important date, Pix. Let’s discuss the suppressant next time.”

“Of course, I understand.”

The video call ended, and Wen Changming grabbed his car keys, ready to leave. But just as he stepped out the door, he seemed to remember something, and went back to switch to another set of car keys.

Wen Changming’s great-grandfather was the founder of the “Halda” company, which had been around for over 300 years. Halda had its own laboratories, specializing in developing Omega suppressants, collars, and other items related to pheromones. Its subsidiary companies even sold clothes, shoes, bags, perfumes, and makeup that were popular with Omegas.

There was an advertisement circulating online: “Anything an Omega needs can be found at Halda.”

Though a bit exaggerated, it showed just how vast the company’s business was. As an only child, Wen Changming’s bank account held astronomical figures.

Yesterday, when he saw Shen Wenqing, he first noticed the collar around his neck—a new product recently released by Halda.

This new type of suppressant completely alleviated the distress of an Omega’s heat period. It prevented the buildup of pheromones that caused Omegas to crave Alphas more intensely, and there were no side effects like headaches.

It allowed Omegas to choose their partners as freely as Alphas and Betas.

Would Shen Wenqing use it?

If he did, would he and Xia Yan still break up?

With no expression on his face, Wen Changming sat in the driver’s seat, closed the car door, and the striking red Ferrari sped out of the garage. His grip on the steering wheel was tight, the veins on the back of his hand bulging.

He couldn’t act impulsively.

He calmly analyzed the situation.

The experiment was already in its final stages. The billions of dollars invested needed to be recouped quickly once the product hit the market. He couldn’t destroy the entire lab’s efforts just because of personal feelings.

It was rush hour, and there was some traffic.

With only twenty minutes left until the scheduled time, Wen Changming glanced at the distance and realized he would inevitably be late. He sent Xia Yan a message to explain the situation.

On his way, he passed by a familiar jewelry store and stopped to select an ornate ruby bracelet to apologise for being late.

The gemstone wasn’t of exceptional quality, but the design was novel.

Compared to women’s jewelry, men’s pieces were more limited in variety, lacking creativity.

Wen Changming took the item, walked out, and returned to his car.

Maybe next time, he’d give him a car. That would offer more choices. But Xia Yan hadn’t yet gotten his driver’s license, so even if he received one, he couldn’t drive it.

He had already gifted a watch.

There were high-end custom clothes he could give, but the young man clearly only had eyes for shiny things. A million-yuan suit wouldn’t compare to a gem of the same value.

Or maybe… a house?

Though there were restrictions based on residency status, pulling some strings would make it possible.

Wen Changming entered the restaurant and immediately spotted the young man by the window. His hair was still dyed the same shade of pink, and the earrings that Wen Changming had gifted him still adorned his earlobes.

The sight filled the emptiness in Wen Changming’s heart with satisfaction.

As he got closer, he saw the young man cutting his steak, the knife and fork moving lightly and elegantly, with a hint of casualness.

As expected, this little guy always knew how to get what he wanted.

Wen Changming sat across from him without feeling slighted and handed over the gift. “Mr. Xia, I apologize for being late.”

“It’s no big deal.”

The young man put down his knife and fork and casually opened the gift box as if it was a routine.

“Do you like it?” Wen Changming asked.

“…” Xia Yan nearly choked. What was up with this guy? Of course he liked it—it was so expensive! Though he complained internally, he calmly took the box. “Not bad.”

“I’m glad Mr. Xia likes it.”

“I remember you said you were my fan,” the young man suddenly became enthusiastic as if remembering something. “I feel like I should give you something in return after receiving so many gifts from a fan.”

Wen Changming was taken aback. “Everything I’ve given you was entirely voluntary, Mr. Xia.”

After a pause, he smiled, his voice dropping to a more suggestive and teasing tone. “Of course, if you’d like to give me something, I’d be very happy.”

“Alright.” Xia Yan unfastened the Jaeger-LeCoultre watch on his left wrist. “Here, a gift for you.”

“Thank you, Mr. Xia.”
