Chasing someone is not accomplished in a day.
After the initial thirty-three roses on the first day, Qiao Shu had Jiang Jiajia pick the freshest and most vibrant rose every day and had them delivered to Gu’s Group.
As a result, after the first two or three days, the entire company’s staff knew that someone was sending flowers to the CEO every day. The mysterious person behind the flower deliveries was none other than the elusive wife of the CEO.
From then on, the employees added a new activity to their daily lives—secretly watching the flower deliveries.
Even if they couldn’t see Gu Chenyan’s expression when receiving the flowers, they still wanted to see what the flower of the day looked like.
It was as if this way, they could witness the entire process.
At the same time, a century-old mystery emerged in the company’s group chat—who on earth was the CEO’s wife?
Some even posted a reward, offering an afternoon tea for the entire company to anyone who could solve this mystery.
The size of the reward reflected the enormity of their curiosity.
Qiao Shu was completely unaware of these things.
As for Gu Chenyan, no one dared to ask him about it. Only a few high-level executives vaguely knew some inside information.
One of these executives, having lost a bet, nervously entered Gu Chenyan’s office under the pretext of discussing the planning for the upcoming collaboration.
Executive: “President, please take a look at the planning proposal for the upcoming collaboration.”
Gu Chenyan glanced away from his computer. “Put it there. I’ll look at it later.”
The executive placed the documents on the desk but didn’t leave immediately. He hesitated, standing in place. His gaze on Gu Chenyan was a mix of nervousness, fear, and curiosity.
Gu Chenyan: “Hmm?”
“Is there anything else?”
Cough! The executive was nervous and choked on his saliva. “Yes, there’s one more thing.”
Gu Chenyan: “Speak.”
Even more nervous now, but since he had lost a bet, he summoned the courage to say, “President, your relationship with the First Lady is really good. He sends you flowers every day. Even in my younger days, my wife and I weren’t as affectionate. I truly envy you.”
Flattery first is always a safe bet.
As expected, Gu Chenyan was pleased. He looked at the still vibrant roses carefully arranged in the vase, and a deeper smile appeared in his eyes. “He’s wonderful.”
The executive marveled at the smile on Gu Chenyan’s face, thinking: “The ice has melted, the iron tree has blossomed, even the King of Hell is smiling…”
Suddenly, Gu Chenyan asked, “How do you find these flowers?”
The executive hesitated and then flattered, “These flowers are exceptionally beautiful. Madam must have put a lot of thought into them. It’s evident he cares deeply for you.”
Gu Chenyan became even more pleased.
Seizing the opportunity, the executive continued, “President, when are you planning to have the wedding? Everyone is eagerly waiting to celebrate with you.”
—
“When do you want to have our wedding?”
“I… I still have film projects. Can we postpone the wedding for a while?”
“Sure.”
“…”
—
As memories of the day they registered their marriage flooded back, Gu Chenyan involuntarily furrowed his brows.
The executive: “…”
Did he say something he shouldn’t have? He was laughing just a moment ago. Why the sudden frown the next moment?
The executive began to feel apprehensive.
The office fell into silence.
Finally, Gu Chenyan spoke, “I’ll ask him, and once we have a date, I’ll inform you all.”
“Sure, sure, sure,” the executive hastily replied, “I’ll leave now, then…?”
Gu Chenyan nodded.
The executive left the office eagerly.
After the person left, Gu Chenyan didn’t continue working. Instead, he pondered.
Initially indifferent about the wedding, the mention of it sparked a sudden desire in Gu Chenyan to organize one. However…
He had promised Qiao Shu.
After much contemplation, Gu Chenyan decided to wait until Qiao Shu finished filming this movie before bringing up the topic again.
—
Desert City.
A city of yellow sand, also known as the Golden City, because it was covered in sand. When the sunlight shone, the entire landscape turned golden, resembling a city made of gold.
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh
A gust of wind blew, and Qiao Shu, who had just taken off his mask, got a mouthful of sand. Fortunately, during the days of filming, Qiao Shu and the others had become accustomed to it, no longer reacting with surprise.
Lu Yue: “Qiao Qiao, rinse your mouth.”
Qiao Shu took the water.
After Qiao Shu finished drinking, Lu Yue sprayed a layer of sunscreen mist on Qiao Shu’s face.
The sun in Desert City was indeed intense.
Not only was the sun intense, but the temperature difference was also significant. Even though it was winter, the daytime temperature was over twenty degrees, a comfortable temperature if not for the scorching sun. However, as soon as night fell, it dropped to below zero, turning people into popsicles.
The makeup artist came over for touch-ups.
“Qiao Qiao, your skin has been a bit dry lately; you should pay attention to skincare.”
Qiao Shu was taken aback.
He wanted to touch his face, but the makeup artist was already busy working on him, so he refrained, “Really? I apply a face mask once a day.”
Tang Ting, not far away, heard and exclaimed, “You only do it once a day? I do it three times a day, and even Cheng Yunchuan does it twice a day. It’s so dry here; if I don’t apply a mask half a day, I’m afraid my face will peel off.”
Cheng Yunchuan nodded beside her.
Qiao Shu: “…”
It really seemed quite dry.
So Qiao Shu said, “Then, starting today, I’ll apply more face masks.”
He didn’t feel anything wrong himself; applying a face mask once a day was just for better makeup. However, since the makeup artist mentioned it, he decided to use an extra one.
Tang Ting: “You should apply more face masks; otherwise, after filming, your skin will be a disaster.”
As she spoke, she held a small mirror and examined her face, clearly worried.
Desert City was too dry!
Unintentionally, but with interest, Qiao Shu’s heart moved, “Sister Yue Yue, lend me the mirror.”
The makeup artist had already finished touching up his makeup and left.
Lu Yue handed the mirror to Qiao Shu.
Qiao Shu earnestly looked at himself in the mirror.
It seemed a bit dry; his skin wasn’t as tender as before. Continuing like this wouldn’t do. After finishing filming, he still wanted to meet Gu Chenyan in the best condition.
Qiao Shu nodded solemnly.
“Sister Yue Yue, ” Qiao Shu suddenly said seriously.
Lu Yue: “What’s wrong, Qiao Qiao?”
Qiao Shu: “Starting today, you must remind me to apply face masks three times a day!”
Lu Yue didn’t understand but still noted, “Okay, I will remind you.”
Qiao Shu looked in the mirror for a while before putting it down. Then he sighed.
Thinking about Gu Chenyan.
Counting with his fingers, the two hadn’t seen each other for a month.
However, Qiao Shu couldn’t dwell on it for too long because the director called for preparation.
The busy filming continued.
Around three in the afternoon, the producer of the crew suddenly rushed out in a hurry.
After about ten minutes, several people quietly entered, each carrying a large thermos.
Following them was the producer.
However, when the producer went out, he was alone, but upon returning, he led several people.
The producer showed a respectful and fearful attitude.
Some people looked on curiously.
At first glance, everyone saw the man being surrounded, dressed in a black suit, exuding a cold and dominant aura.
He was an upper-class figure.
A person of extraordinary status.
The man’s arrival was quite low-key, but it still managed to attract many glances in an intangible manner. As those gazes landed on him, they turned into curiosity and unease, and people involuntarily became quiet.
The producer cautiously said, “Mr. Gu, please come this way. It’s a bit chaotic outside. Please have a seat and rest inside. We’ll be wrapping up shortly.”
“What tea would you like?”
The man listened coldly as he walked in. When his icy gaze quickly swept across the set upon entering, it passed over the equipment, the crowd, and finally landed on Qiao Shu, who was earnestly engaged in filming beneath the city wall.
The man’s gaze paused, and then he stopped in his tracks.
“No need.”
“Find me a spot, and let me see how you’re shooting,” he paused and added, “Don’t disturb others.”
