Carrying the fruit basket, Qiao Shu stepped out of the elevator and searched for Yu Qiong’s ward.
It was a single ward.
Inside the ward, Yu Qiong was typing on her phone while a tall man next to her was cutting an apple with a fruit knife. Qiao Shu had seen that man once before; he was Yu Qiong’s husband, Xiao Si. Lu Yue was sitting somewhat angrily on the side.
Qiao Shu: “Sister Qiong.”
Yu Qiong looked up and then smiled, “Qiao Qiao, you’re here.”
Qiao Shu nodded and walked in, placing the fruit basket he was carrying on the nearby table.
Yu Qiong asked, “Why did you buy fruits?”
“Oh, right, are you going to terminate the contract with the company today? I just saw the message you sent me yesterday.”
Qiao Shu nodded. After some thought, he decided to be honest, “Yesterday, I ran into that idiot Mr. Tang in the underground parking lot.”
Qiao Shu recounted everything that happened yesterday. “So I want to terminate the contract as soon as possible.”
Yu Qiong’s expression darkened, “Did you suffer any losses?”

The person in charge left hastily.
He then looked at Lu Yue.
Lu Yue glared at him, stubbornly refusing to leave.
Tang Chen: “If I remember correctly, you’re the assistant we hired, right?”

Tang Chen: “Not following your superior’s orders?”
“Want to get fired?”
Lu Yue stiffened her neck and glared at him. “If you want to fire me, go ahead!”
Tang Chen’s expression darkened.
Qiao Shu stood in front of Lu Yue. “What do you want to do?”
Tang Chen: “I haven’t done anything!”
“I remember you also signed a contract. What if I sue you for eavesdropping on company secrets?”
Lu Yue glared. “You…”
Tang Chen: “Get out!”
Qiao Shu weighed his options and felt that in broad daylight, Tang Chen wouldn’t dare do anything to him. So he turned to Lu Yue and said, “Sister Yue Yue, you go out first and wait for me.”
Lu Yue: “Qiao Qiao!”
Qiao Shu: “It’s okay, trust me.”
Reluctantly and very worried, Lu Yue went out.
In the office, only Qiao Shu and Tang Chen remained. Tang Chen smirked as he approached Qiao Shu. “I’ve looked at your contract. If you want to terminate it, the penalty you need to pay is not just ten million.”
“It’s…” Tang Chen raised his hand. “Fifty million.”
Qiao Shu frowned. “According to the contract, I only need to pay a penalty of ten million.”

Tang Chen wasn’t afraid at all. He had investigated Qiao Shu long ago. He was just an orphan without any backing. Even if he had landed a wealthy sponsor, that sponsor clearly wasn’t very capable and was stingy.

A scream echoed.
When Lu Yue and the manager rushed into the office, they saw Tang Chen lying on the ground with blood all over his head, while Qiao Shu stood on the side with a blood-stained chair, his face tense.

Police cars and ambulances arrived quickly.
Tang Chen was lifted into the ambulance while Qiao Shu walked towards the police car on his own.

The thunder grew louder, furrowing Gu Chenyan’s brow as he sat behind his desk.
He lifted his head and turned to look out the floor-to-ceiling window behind him.
His phone rang.
“Hello?” Gu Chenyan answered.
It was his driver on the line. “Sorry, Mr. Gu, there’s been an accident on Linchuan Road. We’re stuck in the middle and can’t move.”
“Understood,” Gu Chenyan replied.
After hanging up, he called Chen Wenyuan. “The driver is trapped on Linchuan Road. Send another driver to detour to Big Star Entertainment and pick up Madam.”
“Got it,” Chen Wenyuan said before ending the call.
Gu Chenyan still couldn’t focus on his work. His brow furrowed tighter, and he couldn’t help but keep glancing out the window.
This state continued for who knows how long until his phone rang again, interrupting his thoughts.
Gu Chenyan picked up his phone and immediately smiled.
It was his little wife.
“Qiao Shu,” Gu Chenyan answered.
Qiao Shu’s voice came through, sounding somewhat aggrieved. “Gu Chenyan, could you come and pick me up?”
“I’m currently at the police station.”
