CFRFGC Chapter 28

Banquet (End)

⌈My goodness, this is a messy relationship.⌋

Ji Min quietly watched Lu Ran.

He couldn’t understand why this kid, who clearly didn’t even recognize a condom, was now throwing out “sleep” this, “sleep” that so easily.

Lu Ran ignored him, squatting down and continuing his “great undertaking”.

Ji Min knew Shen Xingyu.

Before, he had wondered why Ji Min would help him, but with this piece of information, it wasn’t strange anymore.

Who knew if Shen Xingyu had actually asked Mr. Ji to keep an eye on him?

Afraid he might cause trouble for the Shen family.

Ji Min looked down again, only to see Zhang Lin lying naked on the ground.

He watched as Lu Ran grabbed Zhang Lin by the hair, dragging him out.

He only took a few steps when the kid frowned, staring out the window.

Ji Min hadn’t yet figured out what he was looking at when he saw Lu Ran drop Zhang Lin and clamber up to the rear window, yelling out into the backyard, “Hey! Don’t bully my dog!”

A few children, attending the party, had snuck from the front yard to the backyard.

They were holding up Da Huang’s lame hind leg and dragging him.

Da Huang didn’t dare bark or bite, only whining and struggling with his front legs.

Ji Min turned back to look at Lu Ran.

The boy was visibly anxious.

Seeing that his shout hadn’t worked, he looked down again at Zhang Lin lying on the floor.

Just a moment ago, he had “threatened” him not to interfere with his “great undertaking”.

Yet now, choosing between his “undertaking” and his puppy, he easily decided to rescue his dog.

Lu Ran climbed directly out of the rear window.

Perched on the window frame, just before jumping down, he turned to glance at Ji Min.

“You…” The boy pursed his lips, trying to sound fierce but clearly hesitant, “I didn’t confiscate your phone, but you’re not allowed to call anyone outside and you’re not allowed to wake him up.”

“Not allowed?” Ji Min raised an eyebrow.

Very few people had the nerve to say “not allowed” to him.

“I’ll send you out later,” Lu Ran muttered, then jumped out the window.

The room fell into silence.

Only Zhang Lin’s snores remained.

Ji Min stared at the empty window, surprised to find that he actually hadn’t made the call.

He shifted his gaze from the window, scanning the room.

The room was small and plain.

There was only a bed.

On the bed sat a small folding table, scattered with two pens and some Level 4 English exam papers.

Besides that, there was only a suitcase in the corner.

After glancing around, there really wasn’t much else to see.

Unintentionally, his gaze fell once more on the naked person lying on the floor.

Ji Min pressed a hand to his forehead.

Suddenly, he found the whole situation incredibly absurd.

What was he doing right now?

Playing along with a kid’s antics?

Meanwhile, back at the party.

Shen Xingran glanced at the time.

Zhang Lin had been gone for about ten minutes.

He should’ve stripped Lu Ran by now.

Earlier on WeChat, Zhang Lin had messaged him, saying he planned to teach Lu Ran a lesson by stripping him down and pushing him into the crowd.

At the time, Shen Xingran had, of course, “earnestly” advised him to reconsider.

But now, he wasn’t just interested in seeing that scene.

Would stripping him really be enough?

After adjusting his mood for a moment, Shen Xingran looked over at the butler Ji Min had brought with him.

Madam Shen was busy mingling with the guests.

But Shen Hongyuan had stayed beside the butler, and to his satisfaction, the Zhang couple was also there.

With a worried expression, Shen Xingran walked over.

He leaned in to whisper to Shen Hongyuan, “Dad, Zhang Lin has suddenly disappeared. I’m worried he might be drunk and lying in some corner… Should we have someone look for him?”

His voice, however, wasn’t quite low enough.

The words “Zhang Lin” were just loud enough for the Zhangs to hear.

Madam Zhang immediately asked, “What happened to my son?”

Shen Xingran put on a slightly embarrassed look, glancing at Shen Hongyuan before replying, “Brother Lin just told me he had something to discuss, but I waited for a long time and he still hasn’t shown up. Also, he’s been… in a bad mood these past few days. I’m a bit worried about him.”

Shen Xingran’s words struck a chord with Madam Zhang.

Zhang Lin had indeed been acting strange lately.

Even here at the party today, he’d seemed distracted.

Though Madam Zhang was a strong figure in the business world, she was exceptionally indulgent toward her son.

She immediately turned to Shen Hongyuan, saying, “President Shen, would you mind helping me find my son?”

Since Madam Zhang herself had requested it, Shen Hongyuan naturally agreed, personally gathering a few people to search.

Of course, Shen Xingran also joined in, calling over Ding Wei and a few of his classmates.

The Zhangs and Shen Hongyuan led a group through the villa to search.

Neither family forgot about today’s high-profile guest.

As they searched, they specifically reminded Shen Xingran, “Mr. Ji enjoys peace and quiet. He’s probably in the backyard, so don’t disturb him.”

Even though they tried to keep their movements light, their activity still drew the attention of the other guests at the party.

Putting on a show, Shen Xingran led people through every room on the upper floor.

Finally, he met up with Shen Hongyuan at the door to Lu Ran’s room on the first floor.

“Dad…”

Looking at Lu Ran’s door, Shen Xingran wore a worried expression. “The only room left is my brother’s…”

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Shen Hongyuan’s face immediately darkened.

He reached out to grasp the door handle to Lu Ran’s room.

But knowing this son’s usual temperament, his fingers instinctively recoiled for a moment.

Seeing Shen Hongyuan’s expression, Madam Zhang noticed something amiss as well.

She advised, “Since it’s a child’s room, let’s just leave it and keep looking elsewhere?”

Shen Hongyuan, already frustrated by his momentary hesitation, felt even more humiliated by Madam Zhang’s suggestion.

He felt he’d lost face in front of so many guests.

Ridiculous.

In his own house, was there a door he couldn’t open?

Shen Hongyuan reached out to open the door.

But he found it locked.

Furious, he raised his foot and kicked the door.

In that instant, Shen Xingran’s mouth nearly broke into an uncontrollable smile.

He could already imagine the scene inside, which was sure to be quite the spectacle.

Didn’t Lu Ran want to make his presence known in the wealthy circles?

Talking about his family background outside?

This time, his story would definitely circulate among the elite circles of Beijing.

Out of the corner of his eye, Shen Xingran spotted the butler.

This only heightened his anticipation.

With a loud bang, the door flew open.

The crowd gasped in shock.

Then… a silence so profound it bordered on eerie.

Shen Xingran, standing to the side, couldn’t see the scene in the room.

But judging from everyone’s reactions, he knew his goal had been achieved.

Was the scene inside truly that explosive?

Even the butler, passing by, stood frozen in astonishment.

This intense silence lingered for a full minute.

An uneasy feeling crept into Shen Xingran’s heart.

Could it be… Zhang Lin and Lu Ran were really sleeping together?

The thought left him feeling irked.

He broke the silence, asking in a concerned voice, “Brother Lin… are you in there? Are you alright?”

A chilling voice rang out from within Lu Ran’s room.

“He’s here. Very much alright.”

Shen Xingran froze, then hurried forward.

In Lu Ran’s narrow servant quarters—

Shen family’s esteemed guest, Ji Min, sat quietly inside, his expression dark as could be.

And at Ji Min’s feet lay a naked man.

It was none other than Zhang Lin.

Everyone froze in shock at this moment.

Ji Min, along with Zhang Lin—the Zhang family’s wayward heir—was found in the room of the Shen family’s mysterious illegitimate son?

What a tangled mess of relationships.

Shen Hongyuan, who had led the search, stood paralyzed, his lips twitching.

His mind raced with thoughts…

Did he just kick in the door of this powerful man?

No, wait, he had kicked open his own son Lu Ran’s door…

Wait, no! Why was Ji Min even in Lu Ran’s room?

Shen Hongyuan’s mind was about to short-circuit.

The Zhang couple was equally stunned.

They looked at their naked son sprawled on the floor.

Then back at Ji Min, seated in his wheelchair.

Unbeknownst to anyone, Ji Min’s dark navy cashmere throw, usually draped neatly over his lap, had slipped to the side, its once-pristine fabric now wrinkled.

And then—

Right there, under everyone’s gaze—

The little pill Zhang Lin had taken earlier finally kicked in.

He promptly gave an impromptu “flag-raising” performance.

Like flipping a middle finger to everyone standing outside the door.

The crowd collectively took a step back.

Mr. and Mrs. Zhang’s faces turned a shade of green.

They could feel the eyes on them as if everyone was thinking: “Ew… Your son isn’t exactly well-endowed!”

Just then, Lu Ran returned to the window, holding Da Huang after dealing with the troublemakers.

What he saw was a scene that stunned him speechless.

He looked at Zhang Lin’s “flag” on the floor, then at Ji Min in his wheelchair, and then at the crowd clustered outside the door.

Lu Ran’s mouth fell open, forming an “O”.

He’d only been gone for a moment, hurrying to come back.

What on earth had happened?

Before anyone noticed him, Lu Ran quickly ducked down, hiding behind the window.

Disappearing like a hero who needed no credit.

Outside the room.

“Ji… Ji… Ji, Mr. Ji…” Mr. Zhang stammered weakly.

Unfortunately, he had no idea what had happened between Ji Min and his son. Could it be that his son, concerned about the family business, stripped down to offer himself up? Or had Ji Min’s beastly nature taken over, with ill intentions towards his son?

But Madam Zhang reacted quickly, taking off her coat to cover her son.

Yet, even covered, the coat created a small “tent,” making things even more awkward.

Uncle Chen, Ji Min’s butler, observed the scene in silence. Who would’ve thought he’d end up “eating the melon” of his employer?

Ji Min sat in his wheelchair, fingers clenched so tightly they creaked. He was genuinely livid.

Just moments ago, he’d been sitting in the room questioning his life choices.

Meanwhile, he thought he might as well look for an outlet to charge his wheelchair.

Then, “Bam!”—the door burst open.

A crowd of people poured in from outside.

Inside the room, he is wide awake and Zhang Lin is fast asleep.

His blanket had slipped off and Zhang Lin lay there bare.

For the first time in his life, Ji Min truly understood what it felt like to be speechless and misunderstood.

“Hurry and get over here!” he ground out, nearly through gritted teeth.

The butler finally snapped out of it, stifling laughter as he walked over to Ji Min’s wheelchair. He lowered his gaze and noticed the wheelchair had run out of power, finally understanding his boss’s predicament.

Right then, perhaps due to the intensity of everyone’s stares, Zhang Lin slowly began to regain consciousness.

He looked up to see his mom, still dazed and not fully grasping the situation, and instinctively asked, “Lu… Lu Ran?”

But as he spoke, the butler wheeled Ji Min past him.

Ji Min glanced down at Zhang Lin, then at Madam Zhang holding him, and smirked coldly, “You’ve raised a fine son.”

His words drowned out Zhang Lin’s question.

As the wheelchair rolled out of the room, it paused briefly in front of Shen Hongyuan and Shen Xingran.

Ji Min glanced at Shen Hongyuan, sneering, “And you’ve raised a good one too.”

The crowd in the hallway finally began to disperse.

As Ji Min left, the fiasco finally drew to a close.

But within minutes, explosive gossip spread through the party!

Scandalous! Zhang family’s heir stripped to seduce the Ji family’s head!

A new form of corporate warfare or a tale of unrequited love?

The image of Zhang Lin, draped in his mother’s coat and bolting down the hallway, was burned into everyone’s memory.

As for Lu Ran, who had orchestrated this entire fiasco…

He slipped away seamlessly.

When the party ended, the Shen family was left scrambling to handle the aftermath of this shocking scene.

Meanwhile, Lu Ran didn’t go home; he took Da Huang for a stroll outside.

The night sky was clear with only thin wisps of cloud.

The stars twinkled brightly, set against a deep, dark blue backdrop.

Lu Ran walked slowly, leading his dog along.

After a few steps, he couldn’t hold back any longer and squatted down, laughing so hard he pounded the ground.

The expressions on Ji Min, Zhang Lin, and the Shen family members’ faces were simply priceless.

Lu Ran never would have dreamed the events would unfold this way.

He picked up Da Huang beside him, giving the dog several loud kisses on the head. “You really are Daddy’s best boy!”

Just as he said this—

A black SUV skidded to a stop beside Lu Ran.

The car door swung open.

A pale, bony hand clamped over his mouth and nose, pulling both him and the dog into the car.
