CFRFGC Chapter 69

Hospitality

⌈Even Lu Ran, the executioner himself, felt a little shocked.⌋

Lu Ran paused for a moment, then reflexively asked, “What drink?”

Jin grinned with a roguish charm. “Of course, the one you personally poured for me.”

Lu Ran recalled the specific drink he was referring to and fell silent for a moment.

He’d done too many stunts involving spiked drinks; it was getting hard to remember each one.

He stared at Jin for a bit.

The Lino family’s eldest son, ever committed to his playboy persona, was squinting as he smiled, purposefully radiating an air of allure.

Lu Ran considered reminding him exactly what he’d drunk last time.

But after a moment of thought, he decided against it.

Instead, he feigned a bashful expression and shyly asked, “Really?”

“Of course.”

Jin’s flirtations were as effortless as water flowing downstream.

With a soulful gaze, he told Lu Ran, “It’s a taste I’ll never forget for the rest of my life.”

Lu Ran remained quiet.

He couldn’t help but nod. “It really should be.”

Jin hadn’t expected such a straightforward response, leaving him momentarily dumbfounded.

He quickly recovered, though, and said, “That’s what I like about you.”

Lu Ran smiled politely. “That’s wonderful to hear.”

“I actually have some business with Ji Min—care to go back together?” Jin offered.

Lu Ran ignored both the invitation and the extended hand, choosing instead to walk leisurely across the lawn with his dog.

Seeing this, Jin abandoned the idea of taking the golf cart and opted to walk alongside him.

The last time the Lino family approached Ji Min about a business venture, they’d been rejected.

Despite his father’s subsequent efforts, Ji Min had left them humiliated.

As newcomers to the capital, the Lino family found themselves isolated.

But now, a new opportunity had emerged.

Last time, Ji Min’s cold reception had been unusual.

Jin was still brooding over whether his previous recklessness had offended Ji Min because of this young man by his side.

But now, the Lino family no longer needed to rely on Ji Min, which meant they didn’t have to tread carefully around these matters.

Besides…

He had recently learned that this young man was the newly reclaimed heir of the Shen family.

While the opportunity the Lino family seized had nothing to do with Ji Min, it did place them in competition with the Shen family.

If he could lure this youth over, it would not only embarrass Ji Min and metaphorically ‘crown’ him with humiliation, but might also provide insider information about the Shen family.

Why not try?

From the boy’s earlier demeanor, he seemed to reciprocate some interest too.

In no time, Lu Ran returned to Ji Min’s side.

By then, Ji Min had nearly concluded his business discussion.

When he turned around to see Lu Ran walking back with Jin Lino, he arched a brow.

Jin’s smile took on a layered meaning.

Sensing a shift in company, the executive who had been discussing matters with Ji Min made a tactful excuse to leave.

“He said he has business with you,” Lu Ran informed Ji Min as he approached, handing over Da Huang’s leash.

“What’s the purpose?”

Ji Min cast an indifferent glance at Jin.

Jin seated himself across from Ji Min without an invitation. “I came to offer my apologies. We were discourteous last time.”

As he spoke, he couldn’t help but probe further.

“Has Mr. Ji heard about the recent bidding for the HZ project? Word is that Shen Xingyu is planning to return from overseas just for this.”

Lu Ran blinked upon hearing Shen Xingyu’s name.

Ji Min, however, wasn’t interested in discussing the topic.

“This project has nothing to do with the Ji family,” he responded coldly.

Jin was secretly relieved by this. If the Ji family were behind the project, he’d have had to worry about Ji Min’s potential interference.

After a bit more small talk, Jin’s gaze shifted back to Lu Ran.

Abruptly, he broke into a smile.

Jin casually remarked, “Took a break last night, didn’t you? And here you are, out for a game of golf this morning.”

The comment sounded innocuous, like any lighthearted banter.

But paired with Jin’s expression, Lu Ran immediately caught the underlying insinuation.

Resting last night, yet up for a game this morning—was Ji Min lacking in some way?

Lu Ran’s eyes darkened instantly.

How could he have overlooked the Lino family?

He had been so focused on clearing up rumors about Ji Min that he missed dealing with these people.

Back then, Lu Ran had been unaware of the details of his “job”.

But seeing this situation now, he regarded it as a serious lapse in his duties!

Ji Min frowned, a hint of dissatisfaction flickering across his face.

However, his displeasure had nothing to do with Jin’s veiled insult and mocking tone.

Ever since he’d ended up in a wheelchair, he’d heard enough barbed comments, both overt and covert, to become almost immune.

His irritation stemmed from the way Jin was eyeing Lu Ran.

As though Lu Ran were some trinket, a plaything to be toyed with at will.

Ji Min was about to speak up.

But before he could, he saw Lu Ran step forward from behind him.

The youth stood by his side, fixing Jin Lino with a serious gaze.

Then, with fierce determination, he looked ready to speak.

Seeing this, Ji Min’s forehead throbbed as he immediately guessed what Lu Ran was about to do.

There were four or five caddies standing nearby.

And not far off, other people were either playing golf or conducting business discussions.

One glance at Lu Ran’s demeanor and it was clear that whatever he was going to say, he would say it loudly.

Ji Min’s mind went blank for a split second.

In a rush, before any words could leave Lu Ran’s mouth, Ji Min swiftly reached out and covered Lu Ran’s mouth with his hand.

In that instant, silence fell over the scene.

Ji Min broke out in a cold sweat.

Fortunately—thankfully—he had managed to stop it in time.

But soon, he realized things were far from fine.

Since he was in a wheelchair, he couldn’t simply reach out and cover Lu Ran’s mouth directly.

To pull this off, he first had to grab Lu Ran by the waist, haul him into his lap, and hold him down.

Now, Lu Ran didn’t get to say anything.

But everyone present saw it—the moment the young man was about to approach the man across from them, Ji Min yanked him back into his arms with what appeared to be unrestrained possessiveness.

At this point, Lu Ran’s leg was draped over the armrest of Ji Min’s wheelchair.

He lay sprawled across Ji Min’s lap, face up, staring at him.

Ji Min’s hand was still pressed over Lu Ran’s face, covering most of it.

His mouth and nose were smothered beneath Ji Min’s palm, leaving only his wide, dark eyes visible, blinking up at him.

It quickly became clear that Lu Ran was struggling to breathe; he wriggled and pried Ji Min’s hand away.

As soon as Ji Min’s hand let go, he saw the bright red marks on Lu Ran’s flushed cheeks.

The imprint had first been pale.

As blood rushed back, it deepened to a vivid red.

An extremely conspicuous mark.

“You…”

Lu Ran was bewildered, mumbling, “What are you doing?”

Across the table, Jin was utterly stunned.

Ji Min, for a split second, felt a surge of inexplicable embarrassment.

He hurriedly lifted Lu Ran from his lap, setting him back on the ground, and pulled down the hem of Lu Ran’s shirt.

His gaze darted around.

Noticing the empty space in front of Jin across the round table, he blurted out the first thing that came to mind, desperately attempting to change the subject: “Give Mr. Jin a warm welcome.”

The words were directed at a server nearby, whose eyes looked like they might pop out of his head.

Yet upon hearing this, Lu Ran’s eyes lit up. Excited, he flashed an ‘OK’ gesture, grabbed a tray from the server, and headed indoors.

Ji Min: “…”

Wait—this wasn’t what he meant.

Surely Jin Lino hadn’t done anything that warranted “that” kind of treatment today?

But when Ji Min caught sight of the way Jin was still eyeing Lu Ran, he swallowed down any words of protest.

Forget it.

After all, Jin Lino wasn’t exactly a good person.

If it helped distract that kid, it was probably for the best, so he wouldn’t start spouting nonsense later.

The server stood there, completely confused.

Not only because the distinguished guest had taken the tray himself.

But also… because the direction he was heading seemed to be the bathroom?

Jin watched as Ji Min’s little companion was so attentive, going out of his way to pour him a drink. He couldn’t help but smirk.

It seemed his efforts at “flirting” earlier on the road hadn’t been in vain.

Thinking back to Ji Min’s sudden actions just now, Jin couldn’t help but feel a sense of irony.

Originally, he had thought Ji Min considered that young master from the Shen family to be just an ordinary plaything.

But it looked like Ji Min might actually care more than expected?

The more Jin thought about it, the more he felt a sense of accomplishment.

At that moment, when his gaze met Ji Min’s, it was filled with an almost mocking sympathy and pity.

It seemed, by some twist of fate, Ji Min was looking at him the same way.

Before long, Lu Ran came back holding the tray.

On the tray were two glasses of wine.

Ji Min’s breath hitched.

He thought to himself: It can’t be…

His earlier behavior might not have been the most appropriate, but it couldn’t possibly warrant this kind of treatment, could it?

Fortunately, Lu Ran placed both glasses in front of Jin.

Jin raised an eyebrow, looking at Ji Min with a slight smirk, as if to say, “I knew it.”

But Ji Min, inconspicuously, let out a sigh of relief.

“Mr. Jin, I heard you really enjoy the wine I pour, so I might’ve accidentally poured two glasses,” Lu Ran said softly.

Jin looked up at the boy, whose face was full of an almost “shy” expression. He noticed that when Lu Ran lifted the glasses from the tray, he even carefully used a handkerchief to cushion them.

The gesture was almost excessively cautious, as if afraid even a single drop of wine might spill and ruin his mood.

Jin watched this scene, feeling both satisfied and somewhat bored.

Although the boy was Ji Min’s lover, to Jin, it was still an easy catch.

There was no challenge in it.

But, after all, he hadn’t had his fill yet. He was more than happy to watch Ji Min’s uncomfortable expression.

If he were to give up, he’d wait until he got the information about the Shen family, and then he’d tire of the boy before moving on.

So, he nodded at Lu Ran. “It’s truly my honor.”

Saying that, he picked up a glass of wine, narrowed his eyes slightly, and took a small sip.

He sighed. “Indeed, as long as it’s wine you’ve poured, it always has this unique fragrance.”

Lu Ran: “…”

Ji Min: “…”

At that moment, even Lu Ran, the executioner himself, felt a little shocked.

Jin hadn’t forgotten his purpose.

As he drank, he extended his tongue, slowly licking the rim of the glass and then the wine on the corner of his mouth.

The wine was clear and his tongue was a deep red.

Those passionate eyes of his locked onto Lu Ran, never straying.

The sight was incredibly suggestive—blatantly seductive, almost like an obvious invitation.

The server standing nearby couldn’t help but blush and feel their heart race, wondering what kind of scene they had stumbled into.

As for the other two people in the “battlefield”…

Just the thought of what Jin was licking made them both feel…

The way he licked the glass was almost disgusting.

Lu Ran silently patted his chest, trying to suppress the urge he felt.

He had let his guard down.

How did he not expect this scene to be so greasy, so overwhelming?

Indeed, these kinds of things should have been done in the bathroom.

Ji Min, who was clearly watching his “lover” being “seduced” by Jin, didn’t get enraged. Instead, he silently maneuvered his wheelchair backward.

He was worried that, if Jin couldn’t resist and ended up spitting, it would hit him, who was sitting right across from him.

But to his surprise, after licking, Jin tilted his head back and downed the entire glass in one go.

As Jin continued drinking, he deliberately turned to the side, letting Lu Ran see the smooth, graceful movement of his Adam’s apple.

After finishing, he showed Lu Ran the empty glass in his hand and said passionately, “As long as it’s wine you’ve poured, I won’t leave a single drop behind.”

Lu Ran: “…”

Damn, he was actually a bit moved.

This guy really was going all out.

Hearing Jin’s relentless flirting, Ji Min raised an eyebrow.

His fingers absently rubbed the leash of the dog in his hand. With a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes, he said, “There’s still one more glass, Mr. Jin. If you like it so much, you might as well drink more.”

Jin’s hand holding the wine glass froze.

Although he had flattered excessively and drank with gusto, the taste of the wine was really… odd.

Did he really have to drink another glass?

But the challenge had already been thrown out, and he quickly sensed a flicker of anger in Ji Min’s eyes.

Jin finished the two glasses, shot Lu Ran a flirtatious glance, and then found an excuse to leave.

He figured next time he could slip his contact details to Lu Ran.

Little did Lu Ran know, Jin still planned to hand him a note.

Once Jin left, Lu Ran and Ji Min exchanged a glance.

Their expressions remained unchanged.

Ji Min asked, “Want to keep playing?”

“No thanks,” Lu Ran shook his head, “I don’t feel like playing anymore.”

Ji Min nodded, then led him away.

Before they left, Ji Min specially reminded the boss who was seeing them off to handle the glasses on the table.

While holding onto the dog, the two of them walked out of the golf course.

Just as they were about to reach the parking lot, Lu Ran couldn’t hold back and let out a laugh.

The moment he laughed, it seemed like something clicked. He burst out laughing, clutching his stomach, gasping for air.

“Don’t laugh,” Ji Min pressed his fingers to his forehead, struggling to keep a straight face.

He couldn’t hold it in and ended up laughing for a while, his forehead in his hand.

Butler Chen was confused. He watch the two of them laugh uncontrollably, utterly baffled.

“Did you see his expression at the end?”

Lu Ran laughed, patting Ji Min’s wheelchair, and then, as if recalling something, added with a grin, “He even stuck his tongue out at me, so gross.”

Despite the laughter, the look Jin gave him still lingered in Ji Min’s mind. He couldn’t help but feel a little displeased.

He still felt uneasy.

But he couldn’t pinpoint why, only sensing that he hadn’t vented enough.

He furrowed his brows and asked, “What did you do with the wine?”

Lu Ran had already stood up and was pushing the wheelchair.

As he walked, he answered, “Same as last time.”

Ji Min fell silent for a moment, then said, “It didn’t look that difficult to drink.”

It almost seemed like he had made things too easy for that young master.

Lu Ran, feeling his ability was being questioned, quickly explained, “It’s just that I didn’t want to make it too obvious and drag you into it.”

Ji Min suddenly stopped.

He looked up at the young man behind him.

Behind them was a vast expanse of lush green grass, and the sky was a clear blue, dotted with soft, milky white clouds.

The pale golden sunlight poured gently down, casting light on the boy’s smooth hair.

“If you weren’t worried about me, what would you have done?” Ji Min asked.

Then, he saw the boy frown, thinking for a moment, standing in the midst of the picturesque scenery of green grass and blue sky, and saying to him: “Then they’d probably just drink the pure stuff. No need for cups.”

Ji Min: “…”

The shock he had felt just now seemed to either shatter or intensify.

It seemed his face truly carried some weight.

Still shaken by that response, Ji Min reached the car, feeling like his life was floating in an unreal, suspended state.

He had to admit, whenever Lu Ran was by his side, he brought an absurd and unsettling jolt to his usually calm life.

The car door opened.

The ramp lowered, and as Ji Min used the remote to guide his wheelchair onto the vehicle, he noticed that the boy behind him hadn’t moved.

He turned his head.

He saw the same boy who had been laughing so hard earlier, now completely calm.

The boy’s eyes, black as ever, were staring directly at him.

After a moment of silence, the boy asked, “Why did you hug me just now and cover my mouth?”
