HSB Chapter 18

Chapter 18

Bambi was a little muddle-headed and not fully awake. The bright light made her rub her eyes out of discomfort, and then a strange feeling tugged at her heart, making her feel that the invisible mister was here once again.

She vaguely remembered that she had fallen asleep next to her grandpa, yet now she was in bed. It was impossible for her to have walked back to her room. How could she walk when she was fast asleep?

Most importantly, the little dress on the body had been replaced.

The first thing Bambi noticed when she woke up wasn’t the fact she was lying in bed but that her little dress had been changed and replaced with another one.

This dress Bambi was currently wearing had been worn by her before. It was very pretty but Bambi didn’t like it. But Grandpa liked it, saying that she looked very cute like a little princess when she wore it. However, Grandpa didn’t let her wear it outside. She could only wear it at home.

However, the little girl felt that the flowery lace of the dress stung her skin whenever she wore it, but for her grandpa, she would still obediently wear it. Once Grandpa left, Bambi stuffed this little lace dress at the bottom of the wardrobe.

On the one hand, she didn’t want to wear this little dress that hurt her skin.

On the other hand, whenever she saw it, she always thought of her grandpa, and she would feel upset whenever she thought about Grandpa. She wouldn’t get upset so easily if she put it away.

Now that she was wearing the little dress and was lying on the bed, besides that invisible mister, she couldn’t think of anyone who would change her clothes for her.

Mister Ivan was gone, and no one else was in the house.

Bambi didn’t know why this mister was helping her, yet refused to see her. Because this mister came and left without a trace, it made her instinctively cautious as she murmured, “Mister, are you here?”

The little one’s fickle name-calling evoked a disgruntled snort from him. The little girl called him daddy before, making him addicted to the word, but now she was awake, he became mister again.

No matter how he looked at it, the game did this on purpose!

Even so, Jellal planned to respond to the little girl.

So the question was, how was he supposed to respond to her?

The System: [Intimacy is not enough to communicate with Bambi. ]

Jellal“……”

While waiting for the mister to respond,  Bambi moved her sore little body and freed herself from the bed. Because her temperature dropped back to normal, Jellal pulled the tightly wrapped blanket away, so that the little girl could get out on her own.

Bambi raised her hand to wipe the fine beads of sweat that spilled from her forehead, and then she was pricked by the lace edge on her sleeve.

So, she focused on folding the lace edge up a few times.

Jellal, who had been silently watching the little one’s movements, asked Tobias, “Why is she folding her sleeves?”

Tobias, who also silently watched his lordship play the game, thought for a moment and said, “Maybe…she’s hot?”

Jellal then realized that he changed into a long-sleeved dress for the little one this time. No wonder he had some difficulty putting it on.

He couldn’t be blamed for that.

“A wardrobe of clothes from workmanship, fabric, design—which one is decent?” Lord Jellal complained expressionlessly. “Only this one is slightly better than the rest.”

Tobias was silent. Naturally, he was of the same opinion. This dress was the only one that stood out compared to the rest of the clothes in the wardrobe—Dragons’ aesthetic taste was shallow.

But he wasn’t the one playing the same. When his lord complained, all he had to do was shut up and listen.

The System was silent, thinking, “You know shit.”

……

Swallowing, Bambi felt hot and thirsty. She wanted to drink water.

After the arrival of the apocalypse, the previous four seasons had completely disappeared, leaving only two seasons—summer and winter.

This kind of weather served no difference to the power users. Power users were affected by their powers and their bodies automatically strengthened in order to adapt to the changes in the weather in the apocalypse.

But for ordinary people, it wasn’t anything good.

Fortunately, Bambi’s physique was quite special. She didn’t get hot, not even in the hottest time of summer. Her body was always cool and sweat very little, so much so that when she slept, Hugh would always tuck her in so she wouldn’t get a cold. Bambi wouldn’t feel hot.

In winter, Hugh would find enough food in advance in order to keep his granddaughter warm through the winter, and then use metal-type powers to reinforce their defenses, making their home warm like springtime. They wouldn’t leave the house until winter had passed.

……

So, most of the time, Bambi only felt hot when she wasn’t feeling well, or when she had been outside for too long during the day.

She wanted to get out of bed and drink water, but the high fever had only come down not long ago, so her body was still feeling a little sore, so the little girl did not rush to get out of bed, but lay on the bed to recover her strength.

She was familiar with this situation and knew what was best for herself.

In the beginning, after Hugh’s infection, Bambi had a high fever three times. Each time she fell asleep without being aware of anything, and when she woke up, the fever had subsided. The first two times when she had just woken up and her physical strength hadn’t recovered yet, she brashly got to her feet and stumbled.

Of course, those three high fevers also brought certain benefits to Bambi. Her body which had been spoiled by Hugh since childhood quickly adapted to this lifestyle, such as eating and not vomiting and bathing in cold water without getting a fever.

Bambi didn’t know what that meant, but she instinctively liked the change, because she didn’t like it when she had a fever because it felt horrible.

The room was quiet,  and Bambi’s big clear eyes quietly looked around, hoping that the invisible mister would respond to her.

But after waiting for a while, there was still no sound, and she lowered her long damp eyelashes. “Mister, are you already gone?” ”

Jellal said, ”I’m here.”

Bambi couldn’t hear it, and disappointment flashed in her big eyes.

Jellal“……”

He glanced at the intimacy number suspended in mid-air in the upper right corner. The number “0” was unmistakable, which he had ignored before, and now he couldn’t ignore it even if he wanted to.

“Is there any other way to increase intimacy other than with the little one?” he asked the System, staring in the direction of the intimacy meter, his fingers clenching again.

The System……

[There’s nothing that can be done even if you hit me again. Intimacy is based on Bambi’s feelings for her papa. Everything is dependent on her feelings. As long as you are nice to Bambi and make her feel your sincere kindness, joy, and help, intimacy will naturally increase.]

This explanation plus hint was not mentioned to Julius.

That meant combat strength was useless. All he had left was to go through the normal procedure.

Just like in a server, you might be able to find a vulnerability in it to break through the firewall and obtain the confidential file inside, and then find that the confidential file had another very complex password protecting it which cannot be cracked by normal means, but you could only enter if you got the password.

Jellal stared at the “0” for a long time, frowned slightly, pointed to the little girl on the bed, squinted, and said, “Buying you weapons, defending you against the ant, cooling you down…now great, you don’t admit to it, no longer calling daddy, nor does the intimacy go up, little…”

Before he finished speaking, from the corner of his eye he suddenly glanced at Tobias’s head that was looking down. He couldn’t see Tobias’ face but he could see the two dragon horns above his head trembling restlessly.

Jellal stopped talking.

“Tobias.

“My lord.” Tobias looked up and looked directly at Jellal, with a look of calm and deference. There was nothing strange about his expression.

He would never admit that he had been laughing for a moment.

The main thing was that he had never seen his lord speak in such a tone.

It’s as if your beloved toys had been confiscated by your parents, and you couldn’t get angry, so you could only dispel your inner depression through grumbling.

Jellal made a gesture and motioned for Tobias to step forward.

Tobias bent down respectfully. “My lord, your dinner hasn’t been delivered yet. I’ll go take a look. The chef was probably lazy again.”

Jellal stared at him for several seconds, staring so hard that Tobias’s scalp went numb before letting out a faint “hm.”

Tobias withdrew as if he had been pardoned from a great crime.

Then he remembered the lesson: don’t laugh at his lord in front of him; if he had to laugh, only laugh when no one was around.

After such an interruption, Jellal looked at the number “0” again, and when he withdrew his gaze, he found that the little one had climbed out of bed and picked up the magic ball.

“Is this from the mister? It’s like a bright light.” Although the magic ball light was bright, it wasn’t blinding. After getting used to it, even if it was held up close, it wouldn’t hurt the eyes.

“Winnie, the mister must have given this to me.” Her eyes bent like crescent moons with joy. She couldn’t keep her hands off it as she held the magic ball in her hand, blowing out the candle.

Jellal was still wondering who “Winnie” was when Bambi realized that Winnie was not in bed. She instantly panicked, held the magic ball tightly, stumbling as she ran out, even forgetting to drink water, and rushed straight for the stairs.

Jellal followed behind her.

It wasn’t until she retrieved the teddy bear by the metal wall that the panic on Bambi’s face disappeared. She held the teddy bear tightly and showed it the magic ball as if it were a treasure. “Winnie, look, we can see at night without candles.” ”

Her sudden charge to the stairs woke up the zombie upstairs again. Bambi was now completely unafraid of the sounds of impact, and even brought her little face to the hole, her eyes lighting up as she said excitedly, “Grandpa, I have a light. I won’t stumble anymore because I can’t see it.”

Jellal stood by the side, listening to the impact in his ears, and couldn’t help but look at the little one.

He heard that human ears were very fragile and if they were surrounded by noise for a long time, it was harmful to their hearing.

His slender fingers flexed lightly and knocked a few times against the metal wall. “Be quiet. Aren’t you afraid of deafening your granddaughter’s ears?”

The sounds of impact did get quieter.

Jellal raised his eyebrow.

“Grandpa, I’ll go back now.” After happily sharing the joy of having a light with Grandpa and Winnie, Bambi returned to the apartment and closed the door.

One hand pressed against the crack in the doorway.

Jellal, who was almost locked out: “…”

Realizing that the door hadn’t closed,  Bambi pulled it open again, and Jellal took the opportunity to walk in, and this time the door closed.

The little girl didn’t notice anything.

Bambi put the teddy bear and the magic ball on the table, and because the bottled water that had been unscrewed was already finished, she had to take a new bottle and twist it hard with her two small hands.

Jellal didn’t think much about it, as he naturally reached out to help when it went completely dark in front of him. All the images had disappeared.

“……”

Disconnected again?

He was about to log back in when he suddenly glanced at the time.

Three hours have passed since he started playing the game.

He….played for three hours?

This realization made Jellal restrain his desire to re-enter the game.

He was originally working on NR equipment.

Jellal, who finally remembered his original purpose, did not click on the game again, but returned to the bath and began to study the NR function.

……

Julius finished his work, went home, took a relaxing bath, then lay down on the massage chair with a facial mask on and logged into the game to see his baby daughter.

As soon as he entered the game, the system prompt jumped out: [Intimacy+50. ]

“?”

Julius sat up sharply, the mask falling off his face.
