Under the moonlight, three figures were currently running on the roof, while leaping from one place to another. When Feng Mingyue, Wei Xue, and Sheng Yi arrived at Peizhi Courtyard, where Concubine Xu’s body was placed. The door of the main chamber was opened, they saw a teenager kneeling on the ground silently in front of the coffin.
The three people shared a glance before they walked in. Feng Mingyue strode toward the other party, yet she was caught off guard when the person who kneeled on the ground quietly turned around all of sudden with a sword in his hand.
He dashed straight toward the lady in black with a cold gaze, intending to attack her. Seeing this, Feng Mingyue didn’t stand still either, she immediately avoided the attack, and no matter how the young man tried to attack her, Feng Mingyue never fought back, she only dodged as much as she could.
Realizing that the other party didn’t have any malice, the teenager placed his sword back into the spiritual ring. He looked up coldly at the three people in front of him. “Who are you?”
Wei Xue and Sheng Yi didn’t respond, they stood behind their master silently. On the other hand, Feng Mingyue folded her arms, raising her eyebrows, and instead of answering, she asked back, “Feng Baiming?”
Feng Baiming’s face stiffened. “Who are you?”
Discovering his stiff face, Feng Mingyue knew that she had guessed right. So she laughed out loud. “Relax, I’m here to help you find the killer.”
“What makes you think that I will believe you?” The teenager looked up at the woman in front of him once again. His brows tightened as if he was thinking of something, he still didn’t trust the three people that had declared to help him.
Even hearing that the other party didn’t trust her. Feng Mingyue wasn’t at all anxious. She lifted her hand, removed the black veil, and smiled. “I’m your Second Sister, Feng Mingyue.” She raised her brows once again. “Can you trust me now?”
Feng Baiming glanced at the beautiful lady from head to toe, while wrinkling his eyebrows, as if he was thinking seriously about whether this woman was the good for nothing second sister that everyone talked about.
He couldn’t help but ask, “Why aren’t you the same as what the rumors had said?”
Feng Mingyue chuckled. “Sometimes you shouldn’t believe so much in rumors. Besides, aren’t you the same as me? Concealing your power, hm?”
Feng Baiming was silent, which was an acquiesce answer.
Feng Mingyue patted the teenager’s shoulder lightly. “Don’t worry, I will help you continue hiding this matter. I’m here today to check your mother’s body, am I permitted to do that?”
Feng Baiming shifted his eyes to his mother’s coffin. His gaze was cold and dark that made people unable to guess this young man’s mind. Feng Mingyue looked at the youth in front of her and sighed inwardly.
After a long silence, the teenager finally opened his mouth. “Yes.”
Feng Mingyue didn’t say anything but gave Sheng Yi and Wei Xue a look. Sheng Yi nodded in understanding, he walked to the coffin, raised his hands, and pushed the coffin board with his spiritual power by not touching the coffin.
The woman dressed in white embroidery lay quietly inside. Her face was pale, but still beautiful, not that much old. Just by looking at her appearance, one could already have a vague guess that when she was alive, she was a gentle and kind woman.
Feng Baiming also walked to the coffin and glanced at his mother expressionlessly. However, his palms had already tightened into fists. On the contrary, Feng Mingyue didn’t say anything since the coffin had opened. She stared at Concubine Xu thoughtfully, before whispering, “No offense, please excuse me.”
After saying that, Feng Mingyue used one of her hands to check Concubine Xu’s eyes, and after that, she examined the blue vein that appeared on her arms. Thereafter, Feng Mingyue took out a wooden square chest that contained silver needles in it, before injecting one of them into Concubine Xu’s body.
When the dark purple blood oozed out, Feng Mingyue hurriedly checked it carefully. “Your mother is indeed poisoned, and that poison is really Anjing.” She looked at Feng Baiming. “What do you think of your mother’s sudden death?”
Feng Baiming glanced at Concubine Xu briefly. “Just like what you had thought. Someone killed her by using poison.”
Feng Mingyue nodded, letting Sheng Yi close the coffin, and she walked out with Wei Xue, while Feng Baiming unconsciously followed. “How did Feng Zhongshan handle this matter?”
Feng Baiming seemed not surprised at all with the way Feng Mingyue called her father. After all, he was also the same, and he didn’t have any feelings toward his biological father either, not to mention being a filial son. Such a father, he didn’t need at all, he would better be a person without a father. Feng Baiming put aside his thoughts and responded, “He wants to prepare a funeral day for her on the day after tomorrow.”
Feng Mingyue was puzzled. “Why not tomorrow?”
Feng Baiming replied flatly, “He wanted to investigate more since he suspected that the killer was the people in the manor.”
Feng Mingyue laughed. “So in other words, everyone in the manor is all suspicious.”
Feng Baiming nodded. “However, the most suspicious person in Feng Zhongshan’s eyes is Wu Zhisu.”
Feng Mingyue stopped. She turned back and looked at the young man with a smile, “What about you?”
Feng Baiming lifted his cold eyes, stared straight at his second sister. He said out a name solemnly, “Feng Ling.”
“Oh?” Feng Mingyue lifted one eyebrow, thinking that this half-blood related younger brother was certainly an intriguing person.
Feng Baiming: “Last morning, I have been staring at her since she began to offer to check my mother. That woman seemed to smile, but her eyes didn’t smile at all, it was heartless and filled with ridicule.” Thinking for a moment, he added, “What’s more, she only checked the poison blood but already knew clearly that the poison was Anjing. This is the most suspicious part, but no one noticed it, they thought that Feng Ling was a genius. After all—”
Before Feng Baiming could finish his words, Feng Mingyue had already said his last sentences, “After all, she is Imperial Physician Li’s third disciple, everyone thought that this was just a piece of cake for her.”
Feng Baiming nodded. “But Imperial Physician Li embarked in the medicine field, not the poison field, so such a rare poison, it’s impossible for Feng Ling to be so sure.”
Feng Mingyue sighed. “Even if we suspected Feng Ling, we still have no evidence.”
Feng Baiming was silent for a while. Then he suddenly remembered something, so he took it out and gave it to Feng Mingyue. “This pouch belonged to Feng Ling’s personal maid, Jue Ching. I found it in the kitchen.”
Feng Mingyue took the pouch and examined it. It was a red pouch with a lotus flower in the center. There was nothing inside the pouch but she noticed some powder in it. Feng Mingyue put her finger in, touched the powder before she took her finger out.
Looking at the white powder that appeared on her finger, Feng Mingyue sniffed it. “This pouch has some remaining Anjing powder. If I guess correctly, Jue Ching should have put the Anjing powder in the pouch. After putting it in Concubine Xu’s food, she placed it back in her sleeve, but maybe because she was scared, she didn’t notice at all that the pouch had fallen onto the ground.”
Feng Baiming’s gaze became frigid. “It’s really Feng Ling!”
Feng Mingyue let out a long breath. “Leave this matter to me. You would better not be involved in this.”
Feng Baiming was stunned. “Why?”
Feng Mingyue touched his head and smiled. “You’re still young, don’t be impulsive. Besides, a person like Feng Ling isn’t easy to deal with. Since she can get a rare and dangerous poison like Anjing, it means that someone must be behind her, and that person might be even more powerful than her. So don’t underestimate the enemy.”
Feng Baiming squeezed his lips into a thin line, and lowered his head without saying anything.
Feng Mingyue somehow understood what this young man was thinking pretty clearly. “Don’t be upset. Xiao Ming, do you know that not every one of your peers is as strong as you?”
Feng Baiming raised his head and looked at Feng Mingyue in surprise.
Feng Mingyue smiled. “Your martial art…who taught you?”
Feng Baiming hesitated for a moment. Then he decided to tell the truth, “I learn it myself. Mother gave me a cultivation book, she bought it secretly when she went out.”
Feng Mingyue nodded. Her smile deepened. “Do you want to learn a detailed lesson?”
Feng Baiming: “You…”
Feng Mingyue: “I’ll teach you personally.”
