LM Chapter 86

It’s normal to panic. What’s important is to remove the pearls from the bed. Qin Shen swept all the pearls to the ground, but as soon as he did this, he was kicked by an anxious Jiang Yu, who asked him to pick up the all the pearls on the ground first.

However, the pearls rolled everywhere—under the wardrobe and beneath the bed. The two of them were disheveled when they moved the wardrobe and the bed, and by the time they had gathered all of the pearls, they were exhausted and sweat profusely, their interest long gone.

In the next two days, Qin Shen lived in unspeakable misery. Every morning when he opens his eyes, he sees Jiang Yu leaning against the head of the bed and watching a bitter scene, crying. Then at night when he goes to bed, Jiang Yu is still desperately brewing tears. His eyes would redden even more if he didn’t agree. The pearls will wake him up the next day.

He presumably didn’t want to cry alone, so he invited Lin Cheng over, and the two locked themselves in the room, weeping and collecting pearls together.

Gu Yang was sitting on the sofa next to Qin Shen in the living room, despondent. He had also been struggling for the past two days. Lin Cheng was also trying to collect pearls, thus his tears streamed from time to time. However, the fish egg in his stomach will be born soon. Gu Yang is terrified that his excessive crying may affect his body and harm their child.

After sitting in the living room for ten minutes, he couldn’t sit still anymore. He went to the room they were in and knocked on the door, “Baby, you’ve been crying for so long, let’s take a break, okay?” he cautiously said.

No one in the room paid him any attention, only the sound of whimpering and sobbing could be heard. He didn’t dare to open the door and disturb them, so he could only go down again in desperation.

On the sofa in the living room, Jiang Naonao was clambering up and down on his father’s lap, clutching his father’s shirt with his little hands wobbling to stand up. With a thud he landed on his father’s chest. His small nose bumped hard and painfully on his father’s shoulder.

He pursed his lips, missing his little dad, who had a much softer body than his father. But, in the last two days, his little dad had stopped playing with him, which made him unhappy. Tears welled from his eyes, his lower lips quivering.

Qin Shen watched his silly son who was about to burst into tears as he touched his nose. He couldn’t help but reach out and pat his fleshy little butt and said frowning, “A man is not allowed to cry. It’s a waste to cry. It can’t even be turned into a pearl.” His tone of voice is quite disgusted.

Jiang Naonao was aggrieved and fought back tears.

Gu Yang went downstairs and found the little boy sitting on Qin Shen’s lap with a dejected expression on his face, blinking his big, black, and round moist eyes. “Hey, what happened? Why is he like this?” he asked softly.

“Come on, Uncle will give you a hug.” Gu Yang said, clapping his hands towards the little boy.

Jiang Naonao didn’t hesitate for a second and opened his chubby arm to Gu Yang.

Gu Yang sat on the sofa, cuddling the small child, and groaned, “They can’t come up with that much money in such a short period of time, so why don’t we just buy the island first?”

He could buy ten of them as long as it doesn’t exhaust Lin Cheng or the fish egg in his stomach, let alone one island.

“No, their Patriarch will be angry.” Qin Shen shook his head. The old man appeared to be a man of strong convictions. If he did something the old man didn’t want, he might become enraged again and take Jiang Yu and the others away.

Gu Yang grumbled, “If only there were other ways to help them make money.”

Qin Shen closed his eyes and pondered deeply after hearing this.

“I’ll go upstairs to take a look.” Gu Yang said, looking at the time. The two of them had been locked in the room upstairs for half an hour already, and he couldn’t resist going up again.

He was about to hand the little boy that was in his arms over to Qin Shen, but the little boy hugged his neck tightly, refusing to go over.

“Hey, your son is angry with you.” He gloated.

Qin Shen: …

Qin Shen stood up and forcibly took the little cub from Gu Yang’s arms. The little cub struggled to wriggle out of his father’s arms, laid on the sofa, with his little buttocks in air facing his father.

“Angry?” Qin Shen sat on the carpet and poked the boy’s white and tender cheeks with his fingers.

The little cub pursed his lips and quickly turned his head, showing his father the back of his head.

He truly was angry. Qin Shen took the little lion toy bought for him yesterday from the coffee table and shook it in front of him, “I said something wrong just now, can I apologize to you?”

Yesterday, the little cub was still cuddling the lion toy and couldn’t put it down but now the little cub is lying on the sofa, gnawing his thumb and ignoring his father.

The little ancestor has been offended. Qin Shen rested on the carpet and thought for a moment, then stood up and scooped the little cub up and walked to the pool upstairs.

The little cub has recently grown tired of playing with the fish in the pool. He enjoys it when Qin Shen or Jiang Yu come down to the pool to chase him and play, and he is always chuckling and laughing.

He undressed the little cub and placed him in the pool, then he also stripped and entered the water. Qin Shen thought that the little boy would let him chase him like before, but the little boy caught a fish, plunged into the water, and swam towards the rock cave with a snort.

Qin Shen followed behind and saw the little cub swim into a small hole in the rock cave, holding the fish and toying with its tail, with no intention of ever coming out.

Qin Shen was unable to enter the narrow hole and could only gaze outside.

He resurfaced depressed, and could only go to Jiang Yu for help.

Jiang Yu went to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and took out a bottle of water after he sent Gu Yang and Lin Cheng out. He gulped a few mouthfuls of water to rehydrate, and when he turned around, he saw Qin Shen barefoot walking down the stairs draped in a bath towel.

Jiang Yu approached him after seeing his wet hair and some water droplets on his forlorn face, “What’s the matter? What’s troubling you?” he asked.

Qin Shen wrapped his arms around Jiang Yu’s waist and rested his chin on the top of his head. “He’s hiding In the swimming pool, I can’t get him to come out from the cave,” Qin Shen said in a distressed voice with a hint of complaint.

“Okay, what is he doing hiding in the rock cave?” Jiang Yu led him upstairs and went to the swimming pool. Jiang Naonao was stealthily peeking outside and hurriedly retracted his small head once he noticed the two of them.

Qin Shen guiltily touched his nose and Jiang Yu turned his head just in the right time to see the look on his face and understood, “Were you being mean to him?”

“…no…. it doesn’t count,” Qin Shen said, lacking in confidence.

Jiang Yu pushed him aside speechlessly and went down to the swimming pool. It took him a lot of effort to coax the little cub out of the cave. The little cub was very upset, and he still ignored Qin Shen as he laid tiredly in Jiang Yu’s arms.

In the evening, Jiang Naonao was still clinging to Jiang Yu, utterly ignoring Qin Shen. While Qin Shen sat alone, the two of them, father and son, continued to play and giggle. Then as soon as Qin Shen sat next to the two of them, Naonao stopped giggling and thrust his little bum out at him.

Qin Shen was furious. After the little one had fallen asleep, he complained to Jiang Yu, whispering, “It’s all because you spoiled him! If he continues to ignore me tomorrow, I’ll give him a spanking.”

Jiang Yu didn’t believe that he will really beat the little boy and just nodded perfunctorily, yawned, and then fell asleep.

When he woke up the next morning, he was the only one left on the bed. He lifted the quilt, got out of bed, and went downstairs. He noticed a bunch of new toys stacked up in the living room. Qin Shen sat on the pile of toys, holding Jiang Naonao in his arms. He unwrapped a toy and placed it in front of the little cub, who smiled and embraced the new toy. Naonao kissed his father on the cheek as his eyes narrowed into a crescent. The corner of Qin Shen’s mouth rose.

Jiang Yu smiled and watched them for a while before going back upstairs.

Two days later, the Patriarch came back, carrying a large woven bag full of pink and lustrous pearls.

Qin Shen couldn’t help but feel emotional when he looked at it. This would have taken countless days and nights of crying to collect this much.

“How much can I sell for this much?” The Patriarch clapped his hands and asked with great interest.

“Grandpa Patriarch, with all due respect, even if these are sold, they will still be insufficient to purchase the island; this method is useless; it is a waste of your people’s effort,” Qin Shen said pouring cold water on his enthusiasm.

Jiang Yu was taken aback and hastily tugged on his sleeve, but Qin Shen comfortingly grasped his hand and continued, “But I have an idea, maybe it will work.”

“What is it?” The Patriarch asked, not angry at all.

Qin Shen opened the box that was on the coffee table and said, “This is the medicinal herb that Jiang Yu brought up from the sea. After eating this, my grandfather not only woke up, but his body was also much stronger than before: this is better and more useful than many expensive special medicines and nutritional products out there.”

“Of course, this is the treasure of the sea, whenever we are sick or injured, we all rely on it, but we never let outsiders use it. It’s great that your grandfather, that old man, has a good life,” the Patriarch proudly said as he stroked his beard.

“So I thought it might be a good idea to use it to make healthcare products and sell them; because its effect is so good, there will undoubtedly be many people willing to buy it; and if you set the price higher, you’ll be able to earn enough money to buy the island,” Qin Shen said.

“But this medicinal herb is very rare in the seabed; aside from that it grows very slow and there are also not many of them if they are to be sold,” Jiang Yu replied hesitantly.

“Of course we can’t just directly sell it like this. Not only is it too eye-catching, but it’s also uneconomical.” Qin Shen curled his lips and continued, “You can just put a little bit in every healthcare product, but just make sure of its efficacy. People nowadays all pay special attention to their health, and as long as it’s effective, many people will buy it even if the price is expensive.”

Jiang Yu wondered, “Then how can we start selling it?”

“Open a healthcare company,” Qin Shen suggested. “Just buy the island in the name of the company and say that the substances in the healthcare products were extracted from the plants in that sea area. You can also sell the pearls together, which can also be said to have been found there. In this way, there is a legitimate reason to prevent outsiders from entering.”

“I can help you with all the matters of opening a company, as well as the investment funds for the early stage; then you can just pay me after the company starts earning money,” he continued after a brief pause.

The Patriarch brushed his beard and paused for a moment to reflect. “This method is excellent, but it requires a lot of your assistance; what if, after all the trouble of purchasing the island and establishing a company, we still cannot profit? We don’t have that much money to compensate you.”

It never crossed Qin Shen’s mind that he would lose money at all. He just wanted to deal with the matter of buying an island quickly and let Jiang Yu spend a good time with him. But he knew that the Patriarch would definitely disagree so he thought about what to say, “This money should be deemed as the funds for my shareholding. You will provide the medicinal materials as well as the pearls, while I invest money so we can start the company together. Once the company starts gaining profit, you will get half the earnings, and if it loses, you will still get half of what was earned.”

The Patriarch considered it for a moment and thought that it was okay, and he didn’t want to take too much advantage of others.

“Then I’ll trouble you,” The Patriarch said, nodding.

Once the matter was settled, Qin Shen began to direct people of what to do. The island was promptly purchased, and Jiang Yu’s clan members were also employed. Their task was to gather and collect medicinal herbs and pearls before covertly transporting them to the island. Following that, it will be taken onshore from the island to be processed, produced, and sold appropriately.

With the backing of a wealthy and powerful family like Qin’s, all aspects of the company’s development went seamlessly. During production, Qin Shen directed that all types of healthcare products available in the world be replicated. In any case, the medicinal herb can cure any condition; simply grind it into powder and mix it in. Add a little more to expensive healthcare products and a little less to inexpensive ones while still ensuring their efficacy.

Qin Shen insisted on spending money on the packaging and heavy advertisement once the first batch of products left the production facility. Advertisements were rotated across retail malls in several cities, and samples were distributed in various prosperous areas for a free trial. In a nutshell, the items are good, the packaging is exquisite, and the promotion is effective. The company’s healthcare products immediately became popular and sold fast.

After a month, when the company was on the right track, Lin Cheng’s fish egg was born.

Jiang Yu and Qin Shen brought Jiang Naonao to see them. When giving birth to a fish egg, it must be in the form of a mermaid, and the mermaid/merman will be relatively weak in the first two days after giving birth, and their tail cannot temporarily turn into legs.

Lin Cheng was resting in an enormous bathtub when they arrived. The newly born fish egg was placed in a glass container filled with water. Gu Yang hugged the glass container tenderly and chuckled, “Son, this is my son.”

The fish egg was the size of a watermelon and resembled the plus size version of a dinosaur egg. Qin Shen examined the fish egg before turning his gaze to Jiang Naonao, who was in his arms. He couldn’t comprehend how the little one got out of something like that, so he turned around and asked Jiang Yu, “Where is the child? Why hasn’t it come out yet?”
