MMJWQC Chapter 45

"I've been waiting for you for a long time."

The police arrived shortly after, and there was no further disturbance at the scene.

The teachers at the experimental elementary school were truly exceptional, with excellent qualities. They instructed all teachers and students to return to their classrooms and wait for the police.

Luckily, the incident wasn’t witnessed by the children; otherwise, it would have been a big problem.

At the time, Chu Ruochun was not far from the severed hand. He didn’t sense any malevolent energy from the hand, but it was strange that the hand appeared quite fresh, unlike the one from the previous singer.

The police quickly took the severed hand away. After reviewing the surveillance footage and confirming that Chu Ruolin’s class was participating in the parent-child activity, and with the video evidence from the production team, they didn’t ask many questions and allowed parents and children to leave. The school returned to normal.

Chu Ruochun then took Chu Ruolin home. Chu Ruolin hadn’t seen anything, so he wouldn’t be psychologically affected, and it wouldn’t interfere with the subsequent filming.

The staff of the production team, on the other hand, were still quite shaken. They were quite surprised to encounter another case. This was the second time, and they seriously considered changing the show’s format to a legal program. Each episode seemed to be a thrilling and shocking experience.

After the morning’s parent-child activity, Chu Ruochun allowed Chu Ruolin to choose what he wanted for lunch, and the filming continued as usual.

“Brother, I want McDonald’s, and I want ice cream.”

“Sure, let’s go then.”

They chose the nearest McDonald’s branch, and Chu Ruolin enjoyed his meal while still thinking about Big Fox and Fox Two back home.

“They like chicken. Can I buy some for them?”

“Of course.”

The two foxes loved fried chicken the most, and Chu Ruochun never objected. After all, they had already become quite resilient and could handle various foods without any issues.

After finishing their meal, they returned home with two large bags of fried chicken.

When Bai Yichen had work to do, he wouldn’t stay at Chu Ruochun’s house, but when he had no work, he’d linger here. He had just finished work and flown back to the city in the early morning hours yesterday. Today, he had been lying around at home. Bai Yichen’s contribution to Chu Ruochun and Chu Ruolin’s show was significant. He enjoyed appearing in his true form on screen more than appearing as himself.

From afar, he could smell the aroma of fried chicken. When Chu Ruochun and Chu Ruolin opened the door, Big Fox and Fox Two were already crouched by the door, eagerly waiting for the chicken.

Chu Ruolin unpacked the bags and placed the food on plates, saying, “This plate is for Big Fox, and this one is for Fox Two.”

The two foxes ate the chicken using their front paws, just like humans.

The production team was left in awe.

Were these well-groomed foxes raised like this? Could foxes really eat such oily food?

Their eating habits were incredibly cute, making everyone envious and hungry.

Children needed their afternoon nap, and besides Chu Ruolin, Big Fox and Fox Two also took a nap.

Chu Ruochun was in the study, drawing talismans. The talisman papers he had previously written were all used during the treatment of Feng Qi.

Chu Ruolin woke up at three in the afternoon. He had been exhausted from playing in the morning and still felt a bit groggy.

Chu Ruochun helped him wash his face to wake him up a bit and asked, “Are you still sleepy?”

Chu Ruolin replied, “Not anymore.”

Chu Ruochun smiled and said something quite merciless, “Then have some fruit and start your homework.”

Chu Ruolin’s shoulders slumped, “Brother, I’m still a bit sleepy. I’ll go back to sleep for a while.”

Chu Ruochun looked at him with a gentle smile. Chu Ruolin had lived with him for a long time, and he knew that behind his brother’s smile, there were many meanings. He was sensitive and intuitively understood the significance of each smile.

It means there’s no room for negotiation right now.

“Okay, I understand. I’ll do my homework.”

“After you finish your homework, you can play games for two hours in the evening.”

Chu Ruochun was not unreasonable; he knew that having rewards and consequences could motivate children. As expected, Chu Ruolin’s mood instantly improved upon hearing this.

“Then I’ll ask Brother Yichen to play games with me!”

“Sure.”

Fox Two, who had licked his fur, thought, “How did I become a babysitter?”

The production team couldn’t believe it, thinking, “Is the top star really this idle? I don’t believe it!”

In the afternoon, Chu Ruolin worked on his homework in his room while Chu Ruochun was busy in the living room. He took out more than ten types of herbs and placed them on the table. On the side, there were several purchased sachets. He precisely picked some herbs and stuffed them into the sachets, adding a folded talisman inside before sealing them.

After writing his homework for a while, Chu Ruolin came out to take a break. He picked up a deep blue sachet with a lotus flower pattern and asked, “Brother, what is this for?”

Chu Ruochun replied, “The one in your hand has a calming effect. You had nightmares a couple of days ago, so tonight, place this sachet near your pillow.”

Chu Ruolin brought the sachet to his nose and said, “It smells really nice. What did you put in it, Brother?”

Chu Ruochun told him the names of several common Chinese herbs, “Mugwort, Aglaia, Sandalwood, Peppermint, Dry Ginger…”

Chu Ruolin nodded earnestly, “Brother, you know so much. In the future, you shouldn’t be a celebrity. Let’s open a traditional Chinese medicine shop like Grandpa Qi, okay?”

Chu Ruochun thought for a moment, then said, “That’s something we can consider.”

Chu Ruolin’s thoughts were jumping rapidly, and he asked again, “Who are these sachets for? Does Ziheng have one?”

Chu Ruochun replied, “Yes, he has one. Anyone who wants them can have them. They all contain medicinal herbs for health.”

Chu Ruolin said, “I think we should distribute them more. Uncle Feng and Aunt Yang should each get one, and Brother Yichen too, and Brother Feng Qi as well. Also, Uncle Ming should have one, and Grandpa Qi should receive one too! That’s seven in total, but we only have five now. Oh, and for Uncle Zhang and the other older brothers and sisters, can I ask for one for them too?”

Chu Ruolin had met Zhang Dongliang the last time, and he greatly admired the police officers, thinking they were amazing for catching the kidnappers and putting them in jail, so they should receive sachets too.

The production team’s staff were deeply moved and expressed their gratitude, saying they could manage without them.

Chu Ruochun didn’t refute Chu Ruolin’s goodwill. He decided, “Then bring all the sachets and herbs I’ve left on the balcony. Give away as many as you can until they’re all gone.”

He hadn’t expected Chu Ruolin to distribute all the sachets he had made so efficiently and transparently.

“Alright!” Chu Ruolin felt very happy to be able to give gifts to the people around him.

With the gifts arranged one by one, the first recipients were the production team members who had been with them all along. They received sachets with refreshing scents. As soon as they smelled the herbal fragrance, they felt rejuvenated and full of energy, ready to work another day!

In the evening, there were no special activities. Chu Ruolin had two hours of gaming time after dinner, and Bai Yichen discreetly disappeared from the camera’s view, sneaking into the bathroom to join Chu Ruolin in playing games. He would stay there for the entire two hours. Oh well.

He now fully understood that what he had seen in Chu Ruochun was not his true self at all. Chu Ruochun was a master of concealing his true nature, and he could hide it better than anyone.

The filming continued on the second day, and Chu Ruochun and Chu Ruolin maintained their slow-paced daily rhythm.

However, as they woke up in the morning, someone began frantically ringing their doorbell.

Chu Ruochun hadn’t invited anyone over today, and the doorbell was ringing urgently as if something serious had happened.

“What is it?” Chu Ruochun opened the door and outside stood the unshaven figure of He Jun.

“Ruochun, save me!” He Jun rushed up and grabbed Chu Ruochun’s arm as soon as he arrived.

Considering that neighbors might be passing by in the hallway, Chu Ruochun thought for a moment and decided to let He Jun into the apartment.

He had seen He Jun’s face before. This person wouldn’t have a long-lasting career in the entertainment industry, and he had no chance of becoming famous. However, there was indeed no sign of any dark aura around him.

“Why did you come to me?” Chu Ruochun asked.

“The police suspect that the human explosion in the show is related to me. They’re all looking for me, and I have nowhere else to go, so I had to come to you for help.”

Chu Ruochun politely placed a cup of tea in front of him. The cameras in the house were still on, and the crew members were present. He Jun seemed too agitated to notice this and only realized it after he had spoken too much.

Production team: “…”

Can this show still be recorded? And even if it’s recorded, can it be broadcasted?

“How can I help you?” Chu Ruochun didn’t mention anything about him being at the scene.

“I have nowhere else to go right now. Can you shelter me for a while?”

“But the police are looking for you. You’re innocent, and you haven’t done anything illegal. What harm would it do to go to the police station?”

“I don’t want to go, and I can’t go.”

“Why not?”

“I had a feud with Yuan Tian. At the beginning of the program, we had a fight in the bathroom. It wasn’t me who started it; he told his assistant that I was useless, and his assistant reported it to the police. Now they suspect me.”

“Why don’t you tell them the truth?”

He Jun’s emotions grew increasingly anxious. He started rubbing his hands, and his mind seemed to drift. His eyes began to lose focus.

At this moment, Chu Ruolin, who had gone downstairs to buy breakfast, returned, eager to share his accomplishment, “Brother, I’m back, and I bought your favorite pan-fried buns!”

He Jun’s emotions became even more unstable. As soon as Chu Ruolin entered the door, he rushed toward the child. However, Chu Ruochun was prepared for this. He lightly stepped on the couch, and with a swift kick, he knocked down the disoriented He Jun, placing his foot on the back of his neck.

Chu Ruochun turned to Chu Ruolin, who had been startled, and said, “Ruolin, go back to your room for now. I’ll call you when I need you to come out.”

Chu Ruolin shook his head, “I’m fine.”

Seeing that he was okay, Chu Ruochun didn’t insist on him leaving the living room. Instead, he immediately called Zhang Dongliang. Meanwhile, he attached a talisman to the back of He Jun, freezing him in place.

“You walked right into this.”

“I underestimated you,” He Jun changed his tone from anger to calmness. His face contorted, “Chu Ruochun, why do you have everything while we both came from the same training camp? We’ve been treated unfairly, facing these troubles.”

“Is that what you want to talk about?” Chu Ruochun asked.

He Jun’s tone changed again, from calm to flat, “What did you do to that arm?”

Chu Ruochun replied, “You’re too impatient. That arm was possessed by an evil spirit. It would devour people, and it happened to be the evil spirit you kept.”

Surprised that his secret was revealed so easily, He Jun asked, “How did you know?”

The production crew, just about to hear how Chu Ruochun had found out about this, was interrupted as the doorbell rang once again.

At this point, the cameras of the production crew had all been turned off. The person leading this group was Zhang Dongliang, the captain of the city criminal police, and the two people behind him looked like plainclothes officers but were not part of the city criminal police.

Zhang Dongliang didn’t lay a hand on He Jun. Instead, the two men behind him approached and pulled He Jun up without asking about the spiritual talisman on his back.

The man with a stern face extended his hand to Chu Ruochun, “Mr. Chu, hello. I’m Jiang Feng, the head of the National Security Bureau’s Special Events Department.”

“I’ve been waiting for you,” Chu Ruochun shook his hand.
