MMJWQC Chapter 46

Feng Qi’s cause of death

This hand is not as simple as it seems; it’s possessed by an evil spirit.

Chu Ruochun encountered two cases, one at the Lu Ming villa and the other involving an explosion.

He Jun himself didn’t have much ability, so Chu Ruochun couldn’t sense any evil spirit aura around him.

The arm can move freely. On that day at school, when it saw Chu Ruochun, it rested in the flower bed, probably planning to take action to harm the next victim shortly.

Fortunately, Chu Ruochun was there at the scene and controlled it with spiritual energy. The evil spirit had nowhere to escape and was pinned in place.

As for He Jun’s claim, he made a deal with the arm. He Jun would take it to find food, and in return, it would satisfy He Jun’s desires. It corrupted He Jun’s manager’s mind, giving him all the good resources. The arm would fulfill all of He Jun’s most evil and negative wishes.

On the day at the Lu Ming villa, the deceased victim had taken He Jun’s spotlight during the show and privately criticized his dance skills. That night, after He Jun had a few drinks and was asleep, he cursed with phrases like “XXX, why don’t you just die.” The next day, that victim actually died.

He came to Chu Ruochun at that time, claiming to be scared, which was true. After all, it was the first time he was involved in such a situation. Chu Ruochun didn’t sense it because, after committing the crime at Lu Ming’s house that day, the arm fled directly to the village and wasn’t found.

But this time, when He Jun went to the restroom and quickly cursed at Yuan Tian, wishing him dead, the arm heard his most evil thoughts and immediately acted on them.

He Jun was taken into custody by a special department, and the arm was recovered by them.

This matter was significant. Chu Ruochun had Bai Yichen transform into an adult, pretending to come from home to accompany Chu Ruochun for the TV show recording. Meanwhile, Chu Ruochun was invited by Jiang Feng to their headquarters to deal with that arm.

The headquarters is located in the southern part of the city, not far from where Chu Ruochun lives.

During the car ride, Jiang Feng introduced to Chu Ruochun how the National Special Department operates.

“Our department has been established for nearly a century; it’s considered an old department. The country has always placed great importance on special cases. Our department is divided into several divisions: Event Investigation Division, Event Handling Division, and Event Aftermath Division. Most of our personnel are often sent on field assignments. Over the years, we’ve recruited many talented individuals.”

At the entrance, there were two imposing stone lions, a fusion of the ancient and modern. Despite the old-fashioned gate, it had an electronic lock, and the security guards didn’t need to come out often.

Chu Ruochun could sense that there was a powerful formation set up here by a master.

Shortly after, he, Jiang Feng, and two other National Special Department staff members were looking at the arm placed on an iron tray.

Jiang Feng explained, “It’s a vengeful spirit formed from accumulated grievances. We caught it fifty years ago, but due to the negligence of our staff, it escaped this time and roamed for at least three months.”

Chu Ruochun added the missing information, “It’s a word spirit formed from the accumulation of all verbal grievances.”

Jiang Feng paused for a moment and smiled, saying, “Indeed, we didn’t make a mistake in choosing you. Mr. Chu, you’re even more capable than what we’ve investigated.”

Chu Ruochun shook his head, “I’m not that capable.”

Jiang Feng was slightly surprised and stammered, “This time, we invited you here in hopes that you’d join our Special Department. When we first met, you also mentioned that you’ve been waiting for us for a long time, right?”

Chu Ruochun shook his head, “But my words made Director Jiang misunderstand. I wanted to cooperate with your department.”

Jiang Feng asked, “Cooperate? Are there things that Mr. Chu can’t handle?”

Chu Ruochun replied, “Not exactly. It’s just that if I cooperate with you, the scope of what I can handle will expand.”

Jiang Feng indeed had information about Chu Ruochun, but it was limited to what Chu Ruochun had demonstrated so far: his involvement in the conference and other incidents.

But most of it is what their department hasn’t discovered or hasn’t dealt with yet.

Chu Ruochun caught their attention, or rather, Chu Ruochun intentionally piqued their interest. The Special Department had also considered that if Chu Ruochun used the marketing methods of the entertainment industry to lead the public astray, they would take action to conceal him, making him disappear from the entertainment circle. Fortunately, Chu Ruochun had his own measure of control.

As it turns out, he was their objective.

Jiang Feng said, “Our understanding of Mr. Chu is actually only surface-level. If you can help us deal with this vengeful spirit, we’ll consider it.”

It wasn’t entirely impossible. Was he now in a position where he had to ask for help?

Even though he was asking for help, he was doing it openly and honestly.

“Vengeful spirit, word spirit.”

Chu Ruochun took out a talisman, wrote on it, and affixed it to the arm. The original talisman was only used for immobilization, but the two he used now were specifically for exorcism.

As soon as the talisman was applied, a black mist emanated from it, making a sizzling sound like frying oil. The fresh, human-like arm quickly transformed into a dried bone, and the attached flesh and blood disappeared at a speed visible to the naked eye, revealing its true form.

Jiang Feng and the others could feel the power of this talisman; it wasn’t something casually written.

He had just been doubting Chu Ruochun’s abilities, but now he was utterly convinced.

Jiang Feng, being knowledgeable in this field, knew the disparity between practitioners. Chu Ruochun had only revealed a fraction of his skills, and he had already won them over on the spot.

“Is it really gone like that?” Jiang Feng couldn’t help but express his disbelief.

In their department, even a vigilant guardian was once deceived by the vengeful spirit. Yet, Chu Ruochun handled it so swiftly in front of him, making him look like he had never seen the world.

“Of course. For me, solving a vengeful spirit is not difficult,” Chu Ruochun said.

“We can close the case,” Jiang Feng said to the other two.

The other two were equally surprised. Those who could work in the Special Department were talented in various ways, and they now held greater respect for Chu Ruochun, stemming from the power he had displayed.

Jiang Feng said, “You’ve solved a difficult problem for us. What I said earlier was just a formality; I will consider collaborating with you.”

With the vengeful spirit matter resolved, the arm that had turned into dry bones eventually turned into powder and was taken away.

Jiang Feng invited Chu Ruochun into his office, arranged some tea, and engaged in further conversation with him.

Chu Ruochun directly stated his intention. Before this, he had taken a piece of paper and a pen from Jiang Feng’s office and written down a list.

“Director Jiang, I want these people to accompany me to the Ghost Abyss.”

Jiang Feng, sipping from his insulated cup, almost choked on his water.

He furrowed his brows slightly, “The Ghost Abyss? That’s not a good place at all. Ten years ago, the entire metaphysical Sects sent many people to reinforce the formation there, and they suffered significant losses. Why do you want to go to the Ghost Abyss?”

Chu Ruochun replied, “I want to destroy the Ghost Abyss, but I’m still lacking the strength to do it alone.”

Jiang Feng looked at the names on the list. They were people from their department but also not quite.

“I’m not even sure I can persuade these people to take action. Even the most prestigious elders of the metaphysical Sects would require some effort to convince them.”

“But aren’t they part of your department?” Chu Ruochun asked.

Jiang Feng began to lament like a helpless bystander, “You don’t know. When our department was just established, we borrowed the influence of these grandmasters, but it was only borrowing. On paper, they are our people, but in reality, they are no different from the national treasure. Unless it’s a matter of national life and death, they won’t follow my orders.”

Chu Ruochun nodded and said, “It does seem a bit challenging.”

In Jiang Feng’s mind, it wasn’t just a bit challenging; it was hellish. He was reluctant to trouble these venerable ancestors for anything, no matter how trivial.

Chu Ruochun asked, “If I can get them to come out of seclusion, can you organize them for me?”

Jiang Feng inquired, “Sure, as long as they’re willing to come out of seclusion. But I have a question: with so many people in the metaphysical community, why don’t you approach them?”

Chu Ruochun countered, “May I ask which of the most famous figures in the metaphysical community can match the talents in your hands?”

There was a fundamental difference between the metaphysical community and the National Special Department. The metaphysical community included various sects and prominent families, but they experienced generational shifts, with each generation often being weaker than the previous one. The last Metaphysical Exchange Conference had already demonstrated their capabilities.

Jiang Feng conceded, “That’s true, but how do you plan to make them come out of seclusion?”

Chu Ruochun took out several pre-written talismans and handed them to Jiang Feng. “You can give them these talismans. I believe that after seeing them, they might consider meeting with me.”

Jiang Feng had almost been convinced by Chu Ruochun’s talisman used to dispel the vengeful spirit earlier, but he managed to regain his composure at the last moment. Now, he held several talismans with energy comparable to the one he had seen. He was left speechless.

Chu Ruochun’s power was far beyond what he had imagined.

Jiang Feng was not one to hesitate. “Alright, I’ll convey your message accurately.”

Chu Ruochun handed him two more talismans. “Thank you, these are for you. Two safety talismans. You’ll be traveling tomorrow, and you might find them useful.”

Jiang Feng recalled that he hadn’t mentioned his business trip to anyone, but he still accepted the two safety talismans without hesitation.

The matter of the arm was resolved, and it seemed that his future journey in the entertainment industry had come to an end. The vengeful spirit had already drained his luck.

As for He Jun, involved in two deaths, he was detained. On the third day of his detention, he choked to death while eating ribs.

Just karma.

Trying to push someone to their demise over a minor argument, he had truly played right into the vengeful spirit’s preferences.

In the blink of an eye, Feng Qi had come to Chu Ruochun for his second treatment.

Recently, Feng Qi has been integrating the memories of these years. He no longer ran out in the middle of the night to chase ghosts or engage in physical exertion, and he had settled down. He hadn’t gone viral on social media again.

His face was one that could be recognized at any time in the entertainment industry.

Feng Qi arrived as scheduled. His parents didn’t look too pleased; he was still their son, but also not quite.

There was a blood relationship, but his personality had changed in various ways, making him more complete but also creating some distance between him and his parents.

Feng Qi lay down on the bed once again and raised an eyebrow. “Is it the same as the last time?”

In front of Chu Ruochun, he shed the gentle facade, exuding an aura of coldness from head to toe. Chu Ruochun looked down at Feng Qi.

“If you want to be injected while staying awake, I have no problem with that.”

Feng Qi wasn’t afraid of death. “I’ve died once before.” As the words left his mouth, even he was surprised. He hadn’t consciously thought about this issue before.

Chu Ruochun nodded. “Indeed, you’ve died before. Do you know how you died?” He once again placed a talisman on Feng Qi’s forehead.

Feng Qi gradually fell asleep.

Before drifting into slumber, he wondered how he had died.

When Chu Ruochun emerged again, his face was even paler than the last time, and he seemed almost exhausted.

Feng Jiu, Yang Wenxin, and the two foxes stood guard outside to prevent any interference.

The couple had difficulty adjusting to their son’s changed personality, but considering that he wouldn’t die when he turned thirty, they didn’t bring up the matter again.

This time, Chu Ruochun didn’t immediately return to his room for meditation and rest but instead stayed in the hall.

“Feng Qi might encounter unexpected situations later, so I hope everyone can lend a hand if needed,” Chu Ruochun said.

Yang Wenxin was a bit worried. “What kind of situation might he encounter?”

Feng Jiu replied, “Since it’s an unknown situation, Chu Ruochun probably doesn’t know either.”

Chu Ruochun reassured them, “Uncle and Aunt, don’t worry. It’s not a major issue. The main thing is that it’s daytime now, and we can’t let him go outside.”

Afterward, he began to meditate and adjust his breath.

As time passed, Feng Qi’s eyelashes twitched.

He opened his eyes.

Those forgotten memories rushed back like a tidal wave.

He knew how he had died.

Torture.
