PMBPHP Chapter 78

Martis Part 2

“Uh. . .”

When I woke up with shoulder pain, I was sitting on a bed and leaning on Prince Martis.

“Your Highness Martis!? This is. . . ”
It’s on a bed with a canopy.
Prince Martis’s bedroom? It couldn’t be.

“I’m sorry, I had no choice but to do it for the country. I’ve taken care of it properly, so there are no traces left. Don’t worry about that.”

When I looked at my right shoulder after being told that, the dress was torn and the bare shoulder was bandaged.

“What is for the country? Um, Agar. . . what about my escort?”
I looked up at Prince Martis.

“You promised to have tea, didn’t you? I’m ready. Let’s calm down for now.”
He doesn’t answer my questions.

“Um, Crane is. . . . Eh!?”
A shackle is attached to my right ankle and chained to the pillar of the canopy.
What is this? Scary.

“It’s okay. It’s long enough to sit in the chair in the next room. I’ll answer any questions you may have.”

When Prince Martis got off the bed and opened the door next to him, I could see a table and four chairs.
Various baked goods are lined up on the table, and a tea set is prepared.

“I was having tea here with Mr. Crane until just a little while ago. That’s too bad, if you had woken up a little earlier we could have enjoyed tea together.”

Contrary to the words of Prince Martis, I sensed it from his happy expression.
He didn’t plan to let me see Crane from the beginning.

When I entered the next room, it was equipped with high-class furnishings.
The balcony window is open, but I can’t see the ground. It doesn’t seem to be expensive, though.
Is this room on the second floor?

“Oh, even if you shout, no one will come, and it’s useless because you won’t be noticed.”

Prince Martis urges me to sit down with a smile.
I felt that it would be dangerous if I went against him, so I quietly took my seat.

“This tea is the tea that our country is proud of, and it is also exported to the Kingdom of Tenar. Of course, I didn’t put poison in it.”

He drinks it to show me, so I’ll respond obediently.

“It’s very delicious.”
That was true.
If it was a normal tea party, it would have been healing.

“That’s good. We brothers also recognize Lilith’s treatment and hard work. Everyone thinks you’re cute like a little sister, and they said they liked you.”

“Thank you very much. It’s a waste of words.”
It’s also true that those words make me happy.
If I had been told at a normal tea party, I would have been happier.

“I don’t want you to go back to the Tenar Kingdom. So why don’t you marry me.”
“Huh?”
I doubted my ears.

“I know you’re married to Gresis. But there’s no problem. You guys haven’t done the first night ceremony, right? So in reality, it hasn’t been established yet. In other words, I also have a chance to get married to you.”

No, no, there’s no chance, and it’s impossible if it’s not Gresis-sama.

“Even so, I had a meaningful marriage for the friendship between my country and the Kingdom of Tenar, so I don’t want to betray both countries.”

Even though I clearly refused, for some reason, Prince Martis put his chin on the table and turned to me with an enchanted expression.

“That determination as a royal family member is becoming more and more attractive. I’ve fallen in love with Lilith more than anyone else. I won’t let you out of here anymore.”

The tone is kind, but the content is scary.
I’ll try to calm down and persuade him somehow.

“Please calm down. Confinement of a member of the royal family of another country will develop into a problem between nations.”

“I’m calm. It’s fine to do the ceremony and make a fait accompli before it’s exposed. As a country, we can get an existence that can treat incurable diseases, so my actions should be forgiven as a result. Gresis will be hurt and won’t be able to forgive himself, because he will have no choice but to give up on Lilith.”

I feel madness in the figure that talks happily.
Prince Martis made a contradictory statement, saying that the ceremony was held for the sake of a fait accompli, even though it was supposed to be a ceremony on the night of the wedding day.

I definitely don’t want to be torn apart from Gresis-sama because of such an incomprehensible ceremony.

I’m grateful that I’ve worked hard enough to gain a favorable impression, but now it’s necessary to appeal that it’s inconvenient for Prince Martis.

“There seems to be a misunderstanding, but the treatment is done by Crane. Even if you get me as an assistant, there should be no merit to the country.”

Royal marriage is important for the benefit of the country.
If there is no merit to the country, there is no way to allow marriage to a person who is hated by the royal aristocrats of the Kingdom of Howl.

I don’t think His Highness Martis, who makes a statement that thinks about the country, is stupid enough to make enemies of the royal aristocrats.
When I looked at Prince Martis’s reaction, he looked at me and laughed.

“That’s a cute lie. It’s Lilith who is doing the treatment. Mr. Crane is a dummy. We, the royal family, are all aware of it.”
“Huh?”

Beast people see through lies.
It’s a secret matter, so I just didn’t say it. I felt like I was being told that.

Suddenly, the place where the arrow was stuck was throbbing and hurt, and I was worried about the weight of the shackles.
It was a relief that Prince Martis liked to talk and wasn’t in a hurry to do the ceremony.

Maybe you need some preparation.
However, I don’t know when I’m going to be told to do the ceremony.

The wind blows in from the balcony.
Even though the window is open, I can’t even run away because of the shackles.
I was surprised when I moved my eyes to see if there was anything to break the shackles.

“I’m sure you mentioned something confidential. By everyone, does that include you, Harence?”
“It’s a lie of Martis. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Gresis-sama and Prince Harence came in from the balcony.

“Gresis, brother!?”
“Gresis-sama.”

While Prince Martis was surprised, I got up from the chair and ran towards Gresis-sama.

“Kyaa!”
With a bang, the chain of the shackles stretched out, and I couldn’t move my right foot and fell forward.

“Lilith!”
When I was about to fall, Gresis-sama quickly ran up to me and caught me.

“Gresis-sama.”
I clung to him tightly with all my heart.

“I’m sorry, I’m late.”
I heard Gresis-sama’s pleasant voice from the top of my head, and I shook my head while holding on to him.

“Gresis-sama, Agar. . .”
“It’s okay, he’s safe. Don’t worry.”

I was relieved when he gently stroked my back as usual.
He immediately broke the shackles with his sword and released my ankle.

The weight of the shackles made my ankle red, swollen and frayed, and the dress was torn from the right shoulder where the arrow wound was treated, so the bandaged shoulder was exposed.

“. . . I’ll leave for a moment. I’ll be right back.”
I feel relieved when Gresis-sama gently strokes my cheeks.
I nodded my head.

“Kill.”
I felt that Gresis-sama, who turned to Prince Martis, muttered so lowly.
He pulled out the sword and closed the distance with Prince Martis in an instant.

“No, Gresis-sama.”
I screamed out loud.

It is decided that those who commit crimes should be judged by law regardless of if they are beast people or humans.
When Gresis-sama stopped, the sword was just approaching Prince Martis’s neck.

“Thanks to Lilith, your life was saved.”
“. . .If I knew it would be like this, I would have done the ceremony quickly. . . . .”

Gah. . .
Gresis-sama thrust an arrow into Prince Martis’s chest.
He is as expressionless as when he defeats monsters, and he the arrow is deeply embedded into the chest.

“Guaaaaa.”
With one hand, he grabbed the lapels of His Highness Martis, who was screaming in pain, and lightly lifted him up, then violently threw him against the wall.

“Guh. . . .”
His Highness Martis, who was lying on his side by the wall, was groaning.

Gresis-sama didn’t even look at Prince Martis, and when he came back to me, he quickly took off his jacket, hung it on my shoulders, and gently picked me up so as not to touch the arrow wound.

“Four days.”
Gresis-sama said to Prince Harence, who was watching the whole thing.

“Four days?”
“Keep using the arrows and don’t give him anything. Then I will forgive you.”
“No, he’ll die.”

“He mentioned the secret matters of our country. Normally, all those who found out would be sentenced to death. But I only gave it to the guy who said it, didn’t drop his head, and gave him a grace period. It is said that all the insane patients who had not eaten or drank for four days were alive. It’ll be fine, probably.”

“Probably. . . It can’t be helped. No matter how you think about it, it’s totally his fault.”

After Prince Harence turned his eyes to Prince Martis, he bowed to me, who was being held by Gresis-sama.

“Princess Lilith, I’m really sorry that my stupid brother treated you badly. I will also report this to my father. When Martis regains consciousness in four days, I promise to punish him severely.”

“Please raise your head. Thank you for your concern. Gresis-sama sufficiently punished Prince Martis. I don’t want more than that.”

“Princess Lilith is sweet. But he will be saved by those benevolent words. Thank you.”

Prince Harence, who raised his head, suddenly smiled.
But his eyes died right away.

“Now that I have been repaid for my kindness and found out that the royal palace is dangerous, it is impossible to leave Lilith and Crane in the Kingdom of Howl and return home. They will return home in two days with the Knights, whose request has expired. That’s good.”

As if to say that Gresis-sama was not making a request, he was looking at Prince Harence with a sharp gaze.

“. . . It’s a very good timing. Your argument is valid. I have no words to say in return. However, the request is moving in the direction of accepting it now, so there should be no problem.”

“What do you mean?”
Gresis-sama asks for a detailed explanation.
I was also curious.

“I want to explain slowly, but I want to do the post-processing first. I’ll talk to you at tomorrow’s meeting, but please ask Mr. Crane for details.”

“Crane? Yeah, I’m sure he said there was a report. Was that what it was about?”

Gresis-sama seemed to have something in mind.
I’m sure he’ll talk to me too.

“Let’s leave the rest to Harence, and we’ll go back to our room.”

Gresis-sama seems to be willing to carry me to the room while holding me in his arms.
I’m sorry that I can’t walk already. Also, it’s embarrassing.

“Um. . .”
“The injured person should be carried quietly. It is also the right of the husband to take care of his wife. I won’t put you down until we are at the room. Okay?”

With such a forceful and gentle expression, my husband’s right. If you say so, I’m weak.

“. . .Yes. Please.”

I entrusted my body with joy in my heart.

Lilith has been retrieved. I feel like Martis got off to easy though.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter and thank you for reading!
