TPAE chapter 4.0

“Really?”

Wei Xicheng turned toward the sound, only to see a man standing by the bedside, his gaze intense. A long pillow was pressed down against the brocade quilt on the bed.

“Samuel, I can’t wait for night to fall.”

“Pfft, don’t forget—you’re a follower of the Light.”

“That doesn’t matter.” Saying this, Sean walked over to Wei Xicheng and pulled him into his arms. “You’re my faith.”

“Enough of that.” Wei Xicheng broke free. “There’s no need to clean the other rooms, we won’t be staying here long.”

“Samuel, can you tell me about your past?” Sean’s face carried a smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes.

He seemed to have grown greedier—wanting to know more, wanting to possess more.

“I used to travel around a lot, but I got tired of it and fell into a deep sleep. When I woke up, I found that the world hadn’t changed much.” Wei Xicheng chuckled, continuing to string Sean along. “So, as you can see, I still remember the local language here.”

He didn’t have any “past”—those belonged to the original host.

“Samuel, my life is limited…” Sean pulled out a transparent jar from the luggage. Inside was a red rose, its roots immersed in a red liquid.

There were small holes in the lid for ventilation.

Blood hunters generally lived longer than ordinary people, but they only had half a vampire’s bloodline and could not achieve immortality. Whenever Sean thought about Samuel possibly having new lovers after his death—be it the Eastern man in the painting or someone else—he couldn’t suppress the raging beast inside him.

He knew such thoughts were wrong and didn’t dare reveal these emotions to Samuel. Instead, he had been tirelessly searching for a way to keep roses from withering, knowing how much Samuel liked them. But still…

“Samuel, roses cultivated in blood last a bit longer, but even they will wilt eventually. I…”

Wei Xicheng noticed Sean’s concern. He realized that in this world, his lover was always so careful about their relationship, working hard to maintain it. Perhaps his sudden shift had scared Sean.

He smiled and wrapped his arms around Sean’s waist. “I won’t let you face hell alone.”

After all, in this eternal stretch of time, it was you who stayed by my side. I won’t let you wait too long.

Everyone in town knew that the house next to Master Wang’s belonged to two foreigners with strange and peculiar ways. Not only did they prefer staying up all night and sleeping during the day, but the two men often held hands and hugged each other—outright defying societal norms!

Having heard so much gossip, Master Wang eventually grew curious about his new neighbors. The tall, black-haired one was slimmer, while the short-haired one had a sturdier build. If there was any difference in their looks, Master Wang thought it might be that the black-haired man had paler and softer features.

The pair’s lifestyle was completely opposite to that of regular folks, with no semblance of the manners typical of gentlemen. Master Wang recalled other foreigners he had met before—none were this brazenly irreligious.

Despite this, Master Wang decided to bring some local specialties as a gesture of goodwill, hoping he might obtain some rare Western trinkets in return.

He chose a time when the two were usually preparing to leave. As expected, they were dressed immaculately and seemed to have just finished dinner.

Wei Xicheng greeted Master Wang warmly, instructing Sean to pour tea. Sean’s expression darkened, he had little patience for such social interactions and preferred a world with just the two of them.

Thus, when Master Wang witnessed the linguistically adept foreigner being pulled into an embrace by the other, he couldn’t help but tremble in shock. Even after all the neighborhood gossip, seeing it with his own eyes was another matter altogether.

This was… the longyang love?!

Master Wang made a hasty exit, forgetting even to take the return gift he’d prepared.

“Happy now?” Wei Xicheng playfully tapped Sean’s nose and smiled.

“Not at all.”

Sean had grown even taller recently, his chin now rested perfectly atop Wei Xicheng’s head. He rubbed his chin against Wei Xicheng’s hair, catching a faint, pleasant scent.

“Why don’t we leave this place, Samuel?” Sean softened his tone. “It’s too noisy here, and I don’t like it much.”

He didn’t want Wei Xicheng to linger on memories of others in places where he had no part.

Wei Xicheng turned around and gently kissed Sean’s chin. “Alright.”

Wei Xicheng didn’t mind where they lived. Though he cherished Eastern lands, this place wasn’t his true homeland, and he had no strong attachments.

Hearing this, Sean paused for a moment before bending down slightly to kiss Wei Xicheng’s lips. “If you want, we can stay a little longer.”

“Hmm, it’s fine either way…”

The next day, Master Wang, who had barely calmed down, discovered that his new neighbors had packed up and left overnight. The return gift he had forgotten was left neatly on the table by his servant.

Wei Xicheng and Sean wandered from place to place, moving homes every so often. Even without trying to travel the world, their long lives meant they had seen nearly every inch of the earth and witnessed the slow shifts of time.

Wei Xicheng worked hard to show Sean that his heart belonged solely to him. And when Sean eventually departed, Wei Xicheng followed shortly after, returning to the system space.

The first thing he did was check the auxiliary energy bar, which had lit up a third segment. Touching it lightly, he felt the emotions and attachments from this world rush over him like a tide.

Fortunately, his mental strength had been tempered over countless missions, allowing him to withstand even such powerful waves.

He reviewed the memories in all three segments before opening his eyes to find them merging. What’s going on?

The auxiliary energy bar had transformed from a grid-filled rectangle into a small sphere resembling his system’s interface. The three segments merged into one, flowing like water to fill part of the sphere.

Though he wasn’t sure what this meant, touching the sphere brought a familiar sensation. The once-separated memories were now one, confirming his suspicion: in all three worlds, his lover was the same person.

But he still couldn’t figure out what his lover’s identity was or how he always managed to find him first and fall in love.

The energy within the sphere remained calm, as if quietly accompanying him.

Steeling his resolve, Wei Xicheng prepared for the next transfer. This time, there would be no hesitation. He believed his lover would be waiting for him in the next world.

Out of habit, Wei Xicheng’s first move after transferring was to assess his surroundings. Once again, he found himself in the original host’s bedroom. Judging from the environment, the host’s family was well-off—perhaps not rich, but certainly comfortable.

Wei Xicheng already felt quite content.

In the last world, as a high-class millennia-old vampire, he couldn’t eat human food, which left him feeling stifled. Although as a blood clan member, he didn’t have any strong cravings for human cuisine, he still regretted being unable to taste the delicacies he remembered from before.

This time, now that he was a human, at least he could eat whatever he wanted.

With that thought, Wei Xicheng walked toward the bathroom while accepting the script for this world. He decided that no matter whether he met his lover in this life or not, he would stick to his character. He couldn’t let things get as embarrassing as they did in the last world…

Perhaps because the original host was a solitary young man, the bathroom mirror wasn’t very large. Still, he could make out that the original host’s appearance wasn’t overly delicate, but very pleasing to the eye and attractive. Both his hair and eye color conveyed a soft and gentle nature.

Wei Xicheng tried to test it out: even when he forced a straight face, the corners of his lips naturally curved slightly upward, giving him an inherently friendly and mild look. And weak.

He was slightly annoyed.

Before he could fully suppress his disdain, the script completely loaded in his mind, and Wei Xicheng suddenly felt that this world was even worse than the last.

Sure, he wasn’t human in the last world either, but at least he was a powerful, beautiful vampire with both strength and charm.

This world? He wasn’t even human. He had become a rule-breaking, anthropomorphic cat demon.

Wei Xicheng pinched his current face. Where exactly did he look like a cat? Those round eyes, that round face, the soft fur, and… Wait. Wei Xicheng crouched down slightly, noticing the disheveled cat ears on top of his head.

If this weren’t a randomly selected world, Wei Xicheng would have seriously suspected that his system was sentient and deliberately messing with him.

Becoming a demon was bad enough, but he was a demon with no combat ability. That could be tolerated. But why on earth was he stuck in an incomplete transformation?

How was he supposed to go outside like this? How was he supposed to find anyone? Humans and demons didn’t even belong in the same world!

The reflection in the mirror looked utterly dejected. Even with his droopy eyebrows and his lips curved downward, the corners of his mouth still turned upward slightly, giving him an unintentionally comical expression. Wei Xicheng hurriedly wiped the expression off his face, determined never to make it again as long as he stayed in this world.

This time, the original host’s name, now his name, was… Mao Rongrong (Fluffy).

…Perfect.

Wei Xicheng opened up his system menu.

I’m leaving right now. Don’t try to stop me. Let my lover go to hell for all I care.
