SRDHEBDF Chapter 5

Plunderer of this world

Ever since Bianca Lu Roseline was adopted and became Bianca Falbe Latiàno, she had been experiencing mounting frustration.

She had envisioned a glamorous life as a count’s daughter, surrounded by attentive maids, wearing jewel-encrusted necklaces, and dressed in adorable frilly gowns. At evening parties, she would be the object of envy for lesser noble daughters and the subject of passionate gazes from gentlemen.

Bianca: “But why must I balance a book on my head?!”

Rosamiris: “Bianca, you’re shaking.”

Bianca: “Well, I am a Roseline. I already know how to walk without balancing a book on my head!”

Though she tried to shout, Bianca’s body swayed from side to side. As a noble’s daughter, she had been meticulously taught ladylike manners by a private tutor. She had mastered the basics in her childhood and was praised as a prodigy.

Rosamiris: “Your center of balance is completely off.”

Ouch.

Rosamiris: “Your proportions are also imbalanced. Did you overindulge in sweets after escaping a gruelling lesson?”

Ouch, ouch.

Rosamiris: “It’s quite something that you aspired to be Count Seigforten’s fiancée in such a state. Even if you had spilt tea on me, a count’s daughter who can’t endure even an hour of lessons wouldn’t be taken to a ball by her father or brother, out of embarrassment, would she?”

Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch!

Rosamiris: “When I think that I once considered you a rival in love, I want to punch my past self.”

Bianca: “H-how dare you! You’re getting carried away, Rosamiris!”

Rosamiris: “Not at all. This is all for your sake, dear sister Bianca .”

The source of Bianca’s irritation was none other than the woman named Rosamiris.

Indeed, it was the day after Bianca had attempted to humiliate Rosamiris by pouring tea on her face.

Suddenly, Rosamiris appeared in Bianca’s room with a riding whip in hand, announcing, “I’ve come for my revenge. I’ll start the Bianca purification plan now.”

Bianca hadn’t anticipated a direct confrontation with Rosamiris and was dumbstruck. She might have screamed in fear, thinking she would be killed, but Rosamiris merely smiled and said, “Don’t worry. It won’t hurt.”

(That smile is terrifying, don’t you understand!?)

Thus began the lessons to correct Bianca’s behaviour. She had planned to cry to her mother if struck, but the situation turned out quite differently.

The prideful Bianca would have refused to be taught by someone younger like Rosamiris. She would have scoffed at the idea.

But she felt compelled to obey, fearing that if she resisted, her previous harassment of Seigforten might invite retaliation from the duke’s family.

(All I wanted was to teach that girl Rosamiris a painful lesson and show her how fearsome I can be. I just wanted to act like the elder sister of a count’s family!)

Unable to accompany Rosamiris and Seigforten to the tea party, Bianca had planned to sabotage the event out of spite. If she could cause a severe burn, Rosamiris would have no choice but to skip the ball. Then Bianca could take her place and finally get close to the duke’s son.

Seigforten and his fiancée Rosamiris were rumoured to be on bad terms.

It all began when Bianca overheard such gossip in social circles and thought that if she became the count’s adopted daughter, she might become his fiancée. Although Rosamiris was a beautiful and talented lady with raven-black hair, some people found her repulsive. Bianca believed that Seigforten must have been forced into the engagement by his parents and that a lovely girl like herself could capture his heart.

With a face as beautiful as the “Golden Canary,” Bianca was also among the ladies who had fallen for him. If they were on bad terms, she planned to make him break off the engagement himself.

(To think that I was deceived by false information about Seigforten and that woman being on bad terms.)

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have defended her so desperately.

Bianca, who had used magic to trip the maid while hiding in the shadows, felt a dreadful and icy murderous intent from Seigforten.

Don’t ever come close again. If you do something like this again, you won’t get away with it.

How could she approach someone who had glared at her with such murderous intent?

Rosamiris: “You seem quite relaxed, thinking about something else during the lesson, Lady Bianca.”

Suddenly, there were three heavy books on her head!

Bianca: “Ah! Are you really a 13-year-old lady!? Are you lying about your age!?”

Rosamiris: “Oh, what a wonderful point you’ve made. As a reward, I’ll add another hour to your dance lesson after this.”

Bianca: “Y-you… monster!”

Rosamiris: “Being called a monster is fine.”

(H-how can I, of all people, feel chills from someone two years younger!?)

She’s smiling, but her eyes aren’t.

Most young ladies would cower and shrink back when they see the tall Bianca.

But look at the black-haired girl in front of her.

If Bianca tries to sneak out of her room, the girl, who must have learned some kind of incredible speed, quickly blocks the exit and tells her to “please come back” with a smile.

Is this a child? Am I dealing with a child?

Bianca: “Ah… I… I can’t move a single step anymore.”

As Bianca, out of breath, slumps to the ground, Rosamiris looks at her with a cool expression.

It’s strange.

She should have been dancing to the ballroom music for over an hour just a moment ago.

Rosamiris: “Lady Bianca, please go ahead and take a bath first.”

Bianca: “Huh? What about you?”

Rosamiris: “I will go for a run around the mansion. I’ll sweat, so I’ll take a bath afterwards.”

Bianca: “What?! After doing something so exhausting, you still plan to do more?”

A count’s daughter, a happy woman blessed with her parents’ love and a beautiful fiancé.

Quite different from Bianca, who came from a poor viscount family with estranged parents.

Bianca: “Why would you go that far when your happiness has been decided since the moment you were born?”

For a moment, Bianca regretted her words.

Rosamiris frowned sadly, as if looking at a troubled child.

Rosamiris: “It’s to live happily. Well then, see you later.”

Bianca: “Ah… wait…”

Rosamiris: “Oh, I forgot to mention, Lady Bianca, from today until the start of the ball, you are prohibited from attending tea parties. Because when you eat too many sweets, your corset won’t fit, and it becomes a problem, right?”

…Let’s take back that regret.

Bianca: “I knew it! That girl is so annoying!!”

The characteristic “muki!” sound of her frustration was loud enough for Rosamiris to hear even when she went outside.
