SPDO Chapter 31

It was still gray outside, and Qin Cheng didn’t know what possessed him to wake up so early today.

The two of them were pressed too close to each other, and the heat radiating from Jian Heng, which was higher than that of ordinary people, seeped into him bit by bit. In the early October weather that was already starting to get cold, Qin Cheng suddenly didn’t want to move.

It wasn’t like he hadn’t been hugged when sleeping with Tan Qi and the others. He even slept with Tan Qi’s head pressed against him for the whole night. Tan Qi woke up abruptly because of suffocation in the morning.

He had experienced all sorts of sleeping positions, so logically he should be perfectly calm now. It’s just that when this opponent is replaced by Jian Heng, everything seems a little…different.

Qin Cheng can’t tell where it is different, but after getting used to it for a while, it doesn’t seem to be unacceptable.

When it got cold, he subconsciously huddled closer; a normal physiological reaction.

The other person was still Jian Heng, a handsome guy who could compete with him. Qin Cheng thought with some smugness, taking advantage of each other, neither of them lost.

Qin Cheng closed his eyes. After a while, the smell of damp wood with the smell of tobacco slowly wrapped around the burning incense. The spiciness fading, the coldness melting away. The smell of dry wood burning in the stove filled the room, warm and cozy, with a hypnotic effect. He fell asleep again after a while.

Qin Cheng was woken up by Jian Heng again. He was dressed in black sportswear as usual, with a black peaked cap on his head. The hair at his temples was wet and shiny, clearly from exercising.

“This classmate, you are so freaking awesome,” Qin Cheng turned over in a daze, “I don’t see you sleepy even though you wake up so early every day…”

Jian Heng rubbed his hair with his hand. His voice was slightly breathless after exercise, so good that the tips of his ears trembled: “Get up.”

Qin Cheng pinched the feverish ear, nestled for a while, and sat up with his arms propped up with difficulty.

“What time did you sleep yesterday?” Qin Cheng asked while putting on his clothes.

“Eleven o’clock.” Jian Heng stood by the bed and watched him get dressed.

“It’s not too late…” Qin Cheng yawned. Could it be that his pillow has become so fine that he feels sleepy no matter what time he goes to bed?

After a simple breakfast, the two rode a bicycle to school. On the way, Jian Heng received a call from Shao Ze.

“Bin and Wu Mu went back first, I’m going to keep an eye on things. We’ll meet again next time.”
Jian Heng hummed: “Pay attention to safety on the road.”

Qin Cheng didn’t ask in detail this time. It was enough for Jian Heng to tell him the reason last night. He didn’t treat him as an outsider. He was not someone who reached for a yard after getting an inch.

***

The first thing they did upon arriving at school was training. In fact, there was nothing to practice. Jian Heng had morning exercises every day, and Qin Cheng would go for a run after dinner. Neither of them were weaklings, so it was just a formality.

After saying hello to Tan Qi, the two sneaked back to the classroom for morning self-study while the physical education teacher wasn’t paying attention.

Jian Heng unilaterally wanted to do practice problems, and Qin Cheng had no choice but to accompany him.

Thinking about it this way, Jian Heng truly deserved the title of school tyrant. Talent was part of the reason, but his hard work was definitely not to be ignored.

Apart from chatting with him every day, he almost spends his time practicing problems. Just like morning exercise, he does it every day without fail.

A fucking good and excellent school tyrant.

Qin Cheng was very impressed when he saw it and lay down to prepare to continue praising him in his dream. The next second, he was pulled up by his collar by Jian Heng and forced to memorize ancient texts.

Q: What should you do if your school tyrant deskmate forces you to study?

A: Just study, what else can you do, fight?

The two of them trained haphazardly until the day of the sports meet. A group of Alphas, bursting with hormones, stood in their respective preparation areas, each surrounded by several Omegas holding water.

The sports field was surrounded by people: referees, volunteers, school leaders, a swarm of students, and even water vendors. They were all scrambling to find seats, the entire sports field was in chaos.

Qin Cheng stood under the pergola and looked around, shaking his head and sighing: “Youth, the joy of the young.”

Jian Heng stood to the side and watched the contestants uniformly dressed in bright red with green stripes. He pursed his lips expressionlessly.

Qin Cheng could feel his displeasure and couldn’t help but pat him on the shoulder and said happily: “Are you very surprised that a school that attaches so much importance to sports can design so many ugly clothes?”

Jian Heng glanced at him, the corners of his mouth curled up: “To each other.”

Qin Cheng froze and sighed: “Ah, each other.”

Both of them have dark skin, so wearing such a big bright color is simple, the visual effect is 2.0.

“Jian Heng.” Qin Cheng called out to him.

There were people all around, and although Qin Cheng had rejected several groups, these people were sensible enough not to surround him and Jian Heng. But their eyes still silently watched them.

Qin Cheng wasn’t someone who cared about appearances in the past, he wouldn’t blush even if they stared at him while he was standing here just in his underpants.

But this year, there was Jian Heng standing next to him and he suddenly became vain. His idol baggage just appeared, and he didn’t want to be seen wearing shabby clothes.

“Um?” Jian Heng looked at him.

“Lend me your hat,” Qin Cheng said as he raised his hand to take it off and put it on his head. Jian Heng didn’t resist, Qin Cheng patted him on the shoulder, “The more you expose yourself to the sun, that something sterols1固醇 (gù chún): sterol (chemistry). Sterol is an organic compound with formula C17H28O, whose molecule is derived from that of gonane by replacement of a hydrogen atom on C3 position by a hydroxyl group. In humans and other animals, corticosteroids such as cortisol act as signaling compounds in cellular communication and general metabolism. Sterols are common components of human skin oils. will turn into calcium… Anyway, it’s good for your body.”

“You think it’s ugly?” Jian Heng exposed it mercilessly, “Take it off.”

“If I take off my hat, Lao Xu could kill me. There’s a parent-teacher meeting coming up soon, so I have to behave,” Qin Cheng adjusted his hat, pressing it down hard. He could still see people looking over here out of the corner of his eye. He felt something in his heart, nudged Jian Heng’s shoulder, and narrowed his eyes, “You say, do you think they’re looking at me or at you?”

Jian Heng swept a glance at him, probably thinking that this question was too useless, and didn’t say anything.

Qin Cheng amused himself and said: “It should be me. I still think they are looking at me.”

Jian Heng looked at him and raised his eyebrows: “Why?”

“Because I’m a veteran local handsome guy, and you, an imported guy, may not suit the soil.” Qin Cheng, the number one in talking nonsense, laughed at himself first.

“What’s wrong with being imported?” Jian Heng tilted his head and asked, his earrings reflected the sun’s rays, and for a moment, the bright light hit his eyes. Matched with this face, it was absolutely stunning.

Qin Cheng genuinely felt that this outfit, in the entire Fifth High School, only he and Jian Heng as a dark-skinned person, could pull it off. It wasn’t stupid, it had a kind of alternative coolness.

As the saying goes——it all depends on temperament.

“Imported ones are too expensive, our small towns cannot afford them,” Qin Cheng didn’t know what Jian Heng was thinking, but he actually started discussing this silly topic with him. He simply continued to chat and bumped his shoulder against Jian Heng’s while laughing, “This student, you’re too high-priced, there’s no market for you.”

Suddenly, an Omega in the distance shouted towards them: “Qin Cheng, I love you!!! Jiayou!!!”

Qin Cheng subconsciously wanted to turn around, but Jian Heng suddenly held the back of his neck to prevent him from moving. He leaned close to his ear and said in a voice that only two people could hear: “It’s free for you.”

“Bang!!!”

Qin Cheng announced that his ear had entered the delivery room. Moreover, they’re fucking twins.

“Holy shit,” Qin Cheng pushed him but didn’t use any force. Jian Heng didn’t even move and still stayed close to him. Only his hand loosened and rested on his shoulder.

Qin Cheng couldn’t control his ears even if they turned red, so he coughed: “Why don’t you kiss me directly? It’s such a hot day…”

Qin Cheng didn’t dare to raise his head when he spoke, his heart was pounding as if he was having a heart attack.

“Scared to death, right?” Jian Heng took a step back, glanced at the distance, and quickly looked back at him, “Can a medicine ball2實心球 (shí xīn qiú): solid sphere medicine ball; a medicine ball is a kind of sports equipment, made of solid material and spherical in shape. It is also a sports event that emphasizes strength and speed of movement. In some areas, the score of ‘throwing a medicine ball’ is included in the high school entrance examination. A medicine ball (also known as an exercise ball, a med ball, or a fitness ball) is a weighted ball whose diameter is about a shoulder-width (approx. 350 mm (13.7 in)), often used for rehabilitation and strength training. The medicine ball also serves an important role in the field of sports medicine to improve strength and neuromuscular coordination. Medicine balls are usually sold as 1–11 kg (2–25 lb) balls and are used effectively in ballistic training to increase explosive power in athletes in all sports, e.g. throwing the medicine ball or jumping whilst holding it. Solid Sphere Medicine Ball be thrown one meter away?”

“Fuck…” he blushed and his heart beat fast after being teased casually. Qin Cheng was speechless to himself. In order to regain his face, he also whispered into Jian Heng’s ear: “This student, be careful when Qin-ge trips you during the 5,000 meters.”

After saying that, Qin Cheng thought he was particularly wicked and blew a breath into his ear. He couldn’t be the only one to experience the hot and wet feeling that filled his ears.

Jian Heng glanced at him without any reaction. That look in his eyes made Qin Cheng wonder if he was sick.

You see, a real macho man would not have any reaction at all.

He must be sick. Every time Jian Heng talks to him close up, the tips of his ears tremble.

Is this disease called ‘Ear-Moving Divine Power’…?

Qin Cheng didn’t remember who the girl in the distance was, what she looked like, or why she called him. In his later memories, there wouldn’t be the words ‘Qin Cheng, I love you’, only the words ‘It’s free for you’ whispered by someone in his ear.

Free? Isn’t that a freebie? Why not take it…

***

The school program was well-arranged, starting with the 100-meter race, which was short but exciting.

On the starting line, the Alphas stood in a row, slightly leaning forward with their muscles tense, ready to go.

A group of cheerleaders performed a dance first. Qin Cheng didn’t understand what was so special about it, they just held two colorful balls and swung their shoulders and legs. The audience went wild, shouting and screaming.

The sunlight shone down, and the Alphas on the track looked excited, their eyes fixed on the gun in the physical education teacher’s hand.

This ‘excitement’ does not include Jian Heng.

Qin Cheng stood at the finish line, holding a bottle of water in his hand, his gaze fixed on the short-haired figure.

The boy’s face was expressionless, his long legs stretched out, the muscles in his calves taut with lines, the curve of his shoulders as he leaned forward was enough to make anyone’s mouth go dry, his eyes cold as he stared at the finish line——at Qin Cheng.

Qin Cheng raised his hand and waved, and vaguely seemed to see Jian Heng smiling at him.

It couldn’t have been an illusion, the Omegas were about to tear the venue down.

As soon as the gun fired, a row of contestants rushed towards the finish line with Alpha’s surging blood and passion.

Anything related to competition always gets people riled up, emotions running high, and blood boiling. In just 100 meters, the entire field was filled with Alpha pheromones, exploding like a bomb. Qin Cheng shook his head in disapproval.

Fortunately, the school was well prepared for this. Every Omega carried at least one bottle of inhibitor with them, and the audience sprayed them all at once, the scent dispersing in a chaotic manner.

Qin Cheng couldn’t smell it, but Tan Qi next to him covered his nose and said: “Fuck! Qin-ge, I wish I could borrow your condition. These pheromones are just too fucking chaotic.”

“Points deducted for using idioms indiscriminately.” Qin Cheng looked at the track. Jian Heng was the first to cross the line. Seven or eight meters behind him was the second place, freaking awesome.

“Ever since you started studying with your deskmate, you’ve been finding fault with my words every day.” Tan Qi glared.

“Is there every day?” Qin Cheng smiled at Jian Heng in the distance, raised the water in his hand, and said ruthlessly: “Sometimes I don’t even talk to you for a whole day. This student, please don’t talk nonsense.”

“Fuck! You have no conscience!” Jian Heng came over, and Tan Qi withdrew dejectedly. Before leaving, he whispered, “Qin-ge, be careful of the big bad wolf. Although I am stupid, I am a little lamb.”

“Goodbye, little lamb.” Qin Cheng’s eyes were still on Jian Heng, and he raised his hand to throw the water over.

Jian Heng caught it, opened it, and drank.

Tan Qi watched the whole process and shrugged.

His Qin-ge’s eyes have never left the person. He would look at him for a while and then smile foolishly, so sticky that he couldn’t bear to look at him.

Maybe this is the legendary socialist brotherhood3社會主義兄弟情 (shè huì zhǔ yì xiōng dì qíng ): an Internet buzzword, refers to the love between men and women in movies and TV dramas that cannot be announced to the public due to censorship. Fans, with an overflowing desire to survive, tacitly call this secret emotional line ‘socialist brotherhood’. The word comes from the popular web drama ‘Guardian‘, which is a 2018 Chinese web series adapted from 2012 fantasy-danmei web novel of the same name by Jinjiang Literature City‘s top writer Priest. The term ‘Guardian girls’ [鎮魂女孩 (zhèn hún nǚ hái)] was coined to describe female fans of the series. Prior to the series’ removal from Youku, fans would discuss the series’ homoerotic content on social media under the hashtag ‘socialist brotherhood’ in order to avoid notice from state censors..

The water in Omega’s hands is also the school’s water, and it is also safe. They were all handed to him, but Jian Heng refused to drink.

Maybe Qin-ge’s water has some kind of BUFF and he can take first place just by drinking it.

We don’t know, we also don’t dare to ask.
