VFMESR Chapter 26

Zheng Ziang’s invitation to the Burke royal banquet, which earned him the favor of the monarch, spread across the star network in just one day. That evening, as Zheng Ziang returned home, he was summoned by the family head, who kindly inquired about the specific events at the royal palace. In a reassuring gesture, a significant portion of the family’s commercial profits was entrusted to Zheng Ziang.

He returned home in high spirits, finally entering the Therapist Score Match after several days. The winds of fortune had shifted quickly, with people seemingly forgetting the humiliating defeat suffered by Zheng Ziang at the hands of an anonymous opponent just days earlier. His organization vigorously promoted the news of him healing the Burke king, while members of the Warwick organization kept a low profile, refraining from mentioning the prior events.

In the interstellar hierarchy, strong was respected, and they couldn’t afford to offend the king of a powerful nation.

The rewards prepared by the steward were also sent to Zheng Ziang’s home.

Suddenly, the genius therapist Zheng Ziang became the talk of the town.

“Have you verified that there were no other therapists on that day?” a lazy voice inquired.

Chu Wenyu, with his eyes closed, was still reviewing the events of that day. He strained to recall the soft voice that had comforted him during his unconsciousness. Apart from the scent of Jiang Ling’s pheromones, it was the most peaceful moment he could remember. But like a foggy haze, he couldn’t grasp any clues.

As long as he found that person, his years-long insomnia would likely be resolved. Chu Wenyu couldn’t help but harbor some expectations. However, his suspicious and sensitive nature made it impossible for him to believe that Zheng Ziang, who had voluntarily come forward, could be that person.

He could sense that the person wanted to hide. If it was for fame and fortune, he could have simply stayed put. Why would he, like Zheng Ziang, hide among the crowd and then step forward?

The steward accurately recollected the information he had searched and said with confidence, “There were one or two nobles who knew a bit about healing arts, but their spiritual power levels and experience couldn’t match his.”

Chu Wenyu heard footsteps and understood that Alpha had finished his shower. He slowly opened his eyes, revealing his dark, inky irises, and instructed, “Go immediately and gather all the information you can find about him.”

The steward hesitated, feeling that it might not be necessary. The genius therapist from the Burke First Academy indeed had the capability, and all the circumstances matched. It wasn’t possible for the palace to suddenly have another person, was it? The palace guards were well-trained, and such an occurrence was impossible.

But he understood the king’s temperament and didn’t dare to argue. He could only go and execute the order.

The freshly bathed Alpha emitted a cool hint of mint-scented pheromones, refreshing and pleasant.

Chu Wenyu subtly wrinkled his nose and took a deep breath. The refreshing sensation traveled from his nostrils through his entire body, making him feel quite comfortable.

Seeing Jiang Ling prepare to escort him back to his room, Chu Wenyu glanced at him, feeling that something was wrong but unable to put his finger on it. It was as if he was standing here fully exposed, as if some secret had been uncovered.

After sending Chu Wenyu back to the room, Jiang Ling was in no hurry to leave. Leaning against the wall, he gazed at the smooth chin beneath the villain’s mask.

Since the banquet, he couldn’t divert his attention to anything else. He was worried that Chu Wenyu’s outbreak might relapse in these days, and he didn’t have much confidence in his own ability. Healing was a difficult task; perhaps he had merely provided temporary relief back then.

As for waiting for Zheng Ziang to be summoned to the palace for treatment, that was simply impossible.

“Your Majesty, have you felt any headaches or discomfort these past few days?” He wanted to recall some symptoms.

Chu Wenyu furrowed his brows, looking at the genuine concern in the other’s eyes, which made the unusual feeling even stronger.

“During the banquet, I had an outbreak. Were you there?” he asked, feeling a bit confused about why Jiang Ling was bringing it up suddenly.

Jiang Ling awkwardly pursed his lips, almost forgetting the set scenario. Fortunately, the incident had caused such a stir that he knew it was reasonable.

“I heard about it later from the palace attendants, so I was a bit concerned that Your Majesty might not be feeling well these days.”

Chu Wenyu considered it and replied, “I’m fine for now. If I really feel uncomfortable, I’ll call the royal therapist into the palace.” He kept a close eye on Jiang Ling’s gaze, sensing something amiss.

Jiang Ling’s expression seemed unnatural. While he knew Zheng Ziang would eventually reveal a flaw, he couldn’t allow Chu Wenyu to suffer until then.

Chu Wenyu noticed his odd behavior, thought about it, and then recalled what he had said. He suddenly chuckled.

“Why, are you jealous?” He teased because he had chosen a younger therapist.

Jiang Ling raised an eyebrow and nodded, admitting to the misconception.

Chu Wenyu’s heart softened, and he snorted, “I’m not someone who is easily swayed by others. If it bothers you that much, when I find a more suitable therapist, I’ll switch to them. You don’t need to worry about us coming into contact right now; I’m feeling pretty good.”

Knowing that Chu Wenyu didn’t have any adverse reactions, Jiang Ling just responded with a simple “Hmm” to end the conversation.

The steward acted swiftly. On the second day, he collected all available information about Zheng Ziang from his childhood to the present, highlighting the most important parts, which he presented to His Majesty.

Coincidentally, Jiang Ling was absent when the steward reported to His Majesty.

Chu Wenyu flipped through the information in his hand absentmindedly. There were numerous awards from the academy and other achievements of Zheng Ziang in various fields, enough to prove that he was an outstanding young therapist. However, Chu Wenyu noticed an inconsistency in one aspect, a recent loss in a match shortly before the banquet. Unlike the other information, this match’s result was a failure.

The steward noticed Majesty’s expression and thought he might be too cautious. He carefully explained, “In the interstellar therapist’s ranking tournament, there are many talented individuals, so losing a match is quite normal…”

Chu Wenyu understood but was intrigued by the anonymous winner’s name, perhaps because of Jiang Ling’s influence, he had become more sensitive to such things.

A powerful intuition made him suspicious.

Chu Wenyu interrupted the steward with a look and said, “Investigate the details of that match thoroughly.” After a moment’s thought, he added, “Also, find out the identity of this anonymous individual. There might be some information in there, considering not everyone can treat my condition when I have an outbreak.”
