The morning sun shone through the gaps in the curtains, casting a radiant glow on Jiang Ling’s golden hair. Feeling the warmth and a tad bit of discomfort, he reluctantly opened his eyes, welcoming the day with a quick stretch.
Last night had been a decent night’s sleep for Jiang Ling, despite the secret visit to Chu Wenyu’s room in the middle of the night. After tending to the other’s spiritual struggles, he felt a sense of relief. Hopefully, Chu Wenyu wouldn’t seek out Zheng Ziang for treatment again. Although Jiang Ling’s chest twinged with a faint pain, he had no intention of standing in the way of Chu Wenyu’s pursuit of happiness. However, Zheng Ziang was far from being the ideal partner.
His Majesty is domineering and short-tempered, but he was nothing like the descriptions in books or popular opinions of the outside world. He’s genuinely worried that Chu Wenyu might be bewitched by Zheng Ziang, and end up doing something stupid. Otherwise, why would he think there was any improvement in his condition despite it clearly worsening yesterday? It’s like he’s completely under some sort of spell.
Jiang Ling was in the middle of changing his clothes when the door, which had remained untouched for several days, creaked open. He turned to find Chu Wenyu wheeling himself in, his gaze intently fixed on Jiang Ling.
Normally, before their recent discord, Jiang Ling wouldn’t have minded such intrusion, but now he was awkwardly trying to pull his t-shirt over his head to conceal his well-defined yet not brazen muscles. His heart raced, and numerous thoughts raced through his mind.
Had Chu Wenyu come to confront him about last night?
If that was the case, how could he possibly explain himself?
Chu Wenyu’s dark eyes remained unwavering as Jiang Ling finally managed to pull his t-shirt into place. “Your Majesty, is there something you need? Do you require assistance?” Jiang Ling asked, his gaze occasionally darting toward Chu Wenyu.
The monarch in the wheelchair had already dressed himself, tidied his hair, and had an almost expressionless face. Jiang Ling couldn’t help but feel a pang of discomfort as he sensed the same distance he’d felt with Chu Wenyu from days ago, as if nothing had changed between them despite the previous emotional connection.
He hadn’t asked Jiang Ling for help in the past few days.
Chu Wenyu’s gaze left Jiang Ling, and he seemed almost touched by Alpha’s concern. However, if he stopped now, he’d likely encounter similar problems in the future. He circled around the room, glancing around before pointing at a collection of ornaments he had carefully chosen for Jiang Ling.
“I remember you aren’t particularly fond of these, but my therapist seems quite interested in gemstones. I’ll have someone send them over shortly. Would that be alright with you?”
Jiang Ling momentarily stopped his train of thought, his expression slightly vacant. With a forced smile, he replied, “Of course, that’s fine.”
It appeared that Chu Wenyu was indeed fixated on Zheng Ziang. Had they chatted so much in one day that they already knew each other’s preferences and were exchanging personal belongings? Jiang Ling felt a painful squeeze in his chest. He suppressed this emotion, fearing that any more words might betray his feelings. Hastily, he changed the subject, “Your Majesty, are you feeling better today?”
Jiang Ling’s inexperience in handling such emotions had made him uncharacteristically stiff in such matters. Even though he was now consumed by regret, he didn’t know how to rectify the situation, especially when Chu Wenyu had already accepted the situation.
Chu Wenyu smirked, nodded, and seemed rather pleased. “The therapist is quite something. I felt much better this morning when I woke up,” he said, then locked eyes with Jiang Ling, adding, “But out of selfishness, I’ll still call him today. You get my gist, right?”
Jiang Ling raised his eyes, absentmindedly patting the bedside cushion, and sat down with an air of detachment. He snapped back to reality, pursing his lips and nodding. “Got it.”
Upon hearing Jiang Ling’s response, Chu Wenyu dropped the pretense of happiness. He turned away, pushing his wheelchair out of the room.
In the palace, apart from Princess Anna, Jiang Ling didn’t know anyone else. So he reluctantly made his way to her. However, his already lifted spirits were not quite in sync with Princess Anna’s pleasantly surprised reception.
“Princess, may I request the use of a room? I’d like some alone time.”
Princess Anna noticed Jiang Ling’s fading smile, but she remained considerate and found him a well-furnished guest room.
After locking the door, Jiang Ling logged into his star network account. The pent-up frustration in his chest needed an outlet, and without much thought, he opened the Interstellar Therapist Score Match.
The members of the Warwick team were thrilled to see Jiang Ling online after many days, and they quickly sent their greetings. Although they had heard about Zheng Ziang becoming a hotshot in front of the Burkian Majesty online, they didn’t believe for a second that their teammate had won by mere luck as the people in star network said.
[Jiang, why haven’t you been online? We’ve all missed you.]
[Right now, little Jiang, you’re the ace therapist in our organization. Maybe you can climb the rankings this year.]
[Have you heard the news about that Zheng Ziang you fought last time? It’s hard to believe he’s doing so well when he’s not as skilled as you.]
Jiang Ling’s expression turned cold when he read Zheng Ziang’s name, but he refrained from replying and immediately entered a team battle mode to divert his attention.
Members of the Warwick organization watched in awe as their dark horse swiftly concluded one match after another at a terrifying pace, causing their points to skyrocket. They were all puzzled by what had happened.
Is this guy in a bad mood? This is a bit too ferocious and terrifying. Many people on the World Forum have also discovered this anomaly.
After winning yet another simulated battle, Jiang Ling sighed softly. He found it uninteresting and, if the equipment had allowed, he should have learned mecha piloting a long time ago. Intense battles like those would be far more exciting.
Nevertheless, the points tournament was incredibly draining. After countless matches, Jiang Ling finally started feeling fatigued and decided to relax by browsing the forums, chatting with other therapists to pass the time.
After all, Chu Wenyu probably didn’t want him to return too soon.
[Everyone, the melon eating crowd is back to work, and it’s related to Zheng Ziang from Burke Star.]
When Jiang Ling saw this message, he paid a little more attention.
[I’m from Burke Star, and today it seems our galaxy’s most authoritative therapist forum got a real shake-up. Can’t post anything new at all now, just one post is pinned.]
[What does this have to do with Zheng Ziang?]
[Let me explain it to you slowly. This thing is related to Zheng Ziang.]
[The pinned post is an official apology letter. It’s about a few months ago when Zheng Ziang went after an anonymous therapist on the forum for some inappropriate comments. The judgment was wrong.]
[Could you explain that in plain words? I’m not getting it.]
[Zheng Ziang was quite a popular internet celebrity on that forum, with lots of fans. And at that time, some anonymous therapist’s response got more likes than this person’s, so Zheng Ziang went on a big rant and incited his fans to harass the person. The problem is the officials didn’t do anything about it, they just sided with Zheng Ziang without investigating. They banned that person’s account without figuring it out, and now they’re getting sorted out because of this.]
[I think Burke Star’s government stepped in?]
[I figure Zheng Ziang picked a fight with someone he shouldn’t have. He probably didn’t expect the person had some powerful connections. Now, the people behind the forum are being questioned.]
[You’re making this up. He’s a guest of Burke Star’s monarch now. Whose connections could beat that?]
[Uh, I really don’t know, but you know, just sharing what I heard.]
Jiang Ling furrowed his brows and decided to log into his long-neglected forum account. His account had been unblocked, and indeed, the forum had been unable to post anything new all day. The pinned post was as the person had described.
What on earth was going on? He couldn’t believe his little matter would stir up the government. Puzzled, Jiang Ling pushed aside his odd feelings.
Seeing that night was falling, he said his goodbyes to Princess Anna and walked back.
Back at the palace, he didn’t spot Chu Wenyu but noticed the light coming from his room window. Chu Wenyu must have gone to rest.
Jiang Ling shrugged and made his way back to his room. However, as he passed by Chu Wenyu’s door, it swung open.
Sitting in a wheelchair, Chu Wenyu wore a white robe, and his body carried the fragrance of shower gel. A large expanse of clear, white skin was exposed, and his hair was slightly damp.
Jiang Ling’s throat tightened, and in the next moment, he couldn’t move a step, as if his entire body had frozen.
He clearly saw the unusual red marks on Chu Wenyu’s neck.
“You’re back? I want to talk to you about something,” Chu Wenyu said, tilting his head.
From Chu Wenyu’s perspective, he could see the shifting emotions in Jiang Ling’s eyes.
Chu Wenyu’s lips curved as he stepped back into the room, but his gaze remained locked on Jiang Ling, tempting him to follow.
Jiang Ling lowered his head and spoke vaguely, “Your Majesty, what do you need from me?”
Chu Wenyu propped his chin and touched his neck, as if a sweet torment lingered. He asked, “Ziang wants to secure a position, and I’m pondering which one would be suitable. Can you offer me some advice?”
Jiang Ling’s brows furrowed deeper and deeper. He knew that Zheng Ziang’s character was doubtful, but he never expected him to reveal his inner desires so greedily right away. He looked at the marks on Chu Wenyu’s neck and clenched his fingers tightly, realizing that Zheng Ziang was clearly taking advantage of Chu Wenyu.
At this moment, Jiang Ling was utterly naive. Faced with such a situation, he hadn’t considered what kind of person the tyrant in the text was. He was so preoccupied with Chu Wenyu being deceived.
“Your Majesty, he’s only been a therapist for a few days; we should consider his character before discussing promotions,” Jiang Ling replied, his voice subdued.
Chu Wenyu licked his cherry-red lips and said somewhat unhappily, “I’ll do as I please. Are you jealous of him?”
Jiang Ling was somewhat irritated but retorted, “If he truly aligns with Your Majesty’s wishes, then Your Majesty should follow your heart.”
He didn’t want to dwell on this further, but after shifting his attention, he noticed that Chu Wenyu’s spiritual state was once again off. It had improved in the morning, but now it was displaying abnormal fluctuations.
Jiang Ling wanted to approach Chu Wenyu to find out what was wrong and what Zheng Ziang was up to.
Unexpectedly, Chu Wenyu evaded him.
Jiang Ling stared at his empty hand, not knowing what he was thinking. A feeling of unease surged within him. Unfortunately, Chu Wenyu’s next actions only fueled the flames further.
“What are you doing?” Chu Wenyu looked at him warily, as if he didn’t want to be touched.
Jiang Ling’s heart ached, wanting to pry open this person’s mind and understand why he wasn’t paying attention to his own state. Could he truly be so oblivious?
Recalling what Zheng Ziang had done to Princess Anna, Jiang Ling sat down with a stern expression. He couldn’t allow this to continue.
“Your Majesty, Zheng Ziang isn’t as you see him. He once betrayed Princess Anna and was with others. So, it doesn’t matter who, but it shouldn’t be him.”
Chu Wenyu’s face turned pale as soon as he heard this. He lowered his gaze and his voice turned husky, “So what?”
Jiang Ling was seething, his temples bulging. Regardless of whether Chu Wenyu was willing or not, he held down Chu Wenyu’s shoulder, while trying his best to restrain himself, “So, Your Majesty, don’t be deceived by him. He doesn’t genuinely like you!”
Chu Wenyu’s eyes were wet. He coldly looked up at Jiang Ling and said, “I know. So what? There’s no one in this world who truly likes me.”
Jiang Ling stared at the lips that were saying something incomprehensible, still vividly moving. Finally unable to resist, he leaned in and bit them.
Chu Wenyu’s eyes gleamed with a hint of satisfaction. His hands gently rested on Alpha’s shoulders, and he obediently parted his lips, extending a scarlet, soft tongue.
Jiang Ling was genuinely upset that he didn’t cherish himself, getting so intimate with a person of ill intentions. As a result, he gnawed on Chu Wenyu’s lips like a person possessed by some kind of illness.
After a while, when their lips finally parted, a fine string of saliva stretched between them, but Chu Wenyu’s hand didn’t let go.
He softly spoke, “You’re just the same, not really into me, yet you can kiss me.” His face expressed a certain sense of abandonment.
Jiang Ling, driven to madness, furrowed his brows, scooped up Chu Wenyu, tossed him onto the bed, and ripped off his t-shirt, like a wild animal pouncing.
Because he was too angry, his tone was not as gentle as usual when he exclaimed, “Who said I don’t like you?”
He was too angry to care about anything at this point—his status, his future—Jiang Ling was certain and absolutely determined. The moment he saw the marks on Chu Wenyu’s neck, he nearly lost his mind.
Chu Wenyu’s eyes, slightly hazy, fixated on Jiang Ling’s half-bare upper body, intentionally provoking him, “You’ll regret it again for sure.”
Jiang Ling didn’t bother with words, he simply ripped open Chu Wenyu’s bathrobe. What he saw before him was skin so fair it almost glowed.
He fixed his gaze on the marks on Chu Wenyu’s neck, held Chu Wenyu tightly, and kissed him, attempting to cover those marks.
Chu Wenyu tilted his head, extending his slender and fair neck, his hands uncomfortably gripping Jiang Ling’s neck. He felt the numerous kisses raining down, perhaps they stung a bit due to Jiang Ling’s anger, but the discomfort meant nothing to him. In fact, it was Jiang Ling’s possessiveness that brought him immense satisfaction.
In a place hidden from Jiang Ling’s view, Chu Wenyu revealed a sly smile, opening his mouth to gently kiss Alpha’s shoulder.
Chu Wenyu was completely surrounded by Jiang Ling’s pheromones, and Jiang Ling himself was thoroughly seduced. He kissed every inch of Chu Wenyu’s body.
Chu Wenyu’s lips sparkled, and he pointed to his legs, sullenly saying, “Jiang Ling, I have no strength here.” At this moment, he was particularly repulsed by his own useless legs, viewing them as nothing but an obstacle between them.
But luckily, in the next moment, Jiang Ling manually wrapped Chu Wenyu’s legs around his waist and held them firmly in place.
Chu Wenyu felt like his legs were completely numb, his whole body devoid of strength. He was utterly immersed in Jiang Ling’s pheromones and had lost all sense of who he was and where he was.
Later, as he lost consciousness, Chu Wenyu’s voice was too hoarse to speak, but he couldn’t suppress the soft, husky moans.
Jiang Ling removed the mask from Chu Wenyu’s face, interrupting his thoughts for a few seconds. He seemed somewhat panicked, wanting to snatch it back, but Jiang Ling stopped him. Jiang Ling gently kissed the large crimson birthmark on his face, his voice deep and magnetic, “Don’t worry, I’ve seen it long ago.”
Chu Wenyu looked at him with a hint of confusion in his eyes, as if pondering when this had all started, but the next moment, he had no time for such thoughts. He closed his eyes and held Jiang Ling even tighter, as if that would provide him with the safety he needed.
In the end, at the moment of losing consciousness, there was a smile on Chu Wenyu’s lips. Finally, he had captured the Alpha.
