“Really going over there?” Chu Wenyu, his eyes moist, asked cautiously.
Jiang Ling, paused for a moment while drying Chu Wenyu’s damp hair, and nodded.
Chu Wenyu had thought the other hadn’t mentioned it all night, continuing to help him with his nightly routine as usual, almost thinking Jiang Ling was just talking.
Thinking that the storm in Alpha’s heart had probably settled, Chu Wenyu grabbed Jiang Ling, not wanting him to leave. “I truly know I messed up, it won’t happen again, okay?” He said, kissing Jiang Ling’s hand.
Due to past experiences, Jiang Ling wasn’t entirely convinced. He gently tapped Chu Wenyu’s head. “Think it through on your own.”
Chu Wenyu, not used to being treated disrespectfully, dared not get angry and just nodded.
Watching Chu Wenyu’s hair being mostly dried, Jiang Ling got up to shower. He was quick; in no time, he came out in pajamas, grabbing a quilt from the closet, preparing to go to the adjacent room.
Chu Wenyu sat on the bed, watching Jiang Ling securely wrapped in his sleepwear, feeling a bit disappointed. Usually, he could just command Alpha to come over, and he could have his way. Now, he had to abstain to express sincere repentance.
“Your Majesty, rest well,” Jiang Ling said, closing the lights in Chu Wenyu’s room, returning to his original quarters.
Not having rested here for a long time, the familiar furnishing and a dust-free room greeted Jiang Ling. Before lying down, he remembered something and locked the door between the two rooms. After a series of actions, Jiang Ling felt like he might be overthinking, but he quickly dismissed the thought.
Before sleeping, he habitually logged into his Star Network account. Thinking about the questions during the day, Jiang Ling felt embarrassed and decided to delete them.
However, within a short half-day, he found numerous replies.
Some advising reconciliation, others suggesting separation.
After some thought, Jiang Ling replied, [Thanks for your concern; we’ve talked it out, and we’re good now.]
Netizens, seemingly not in need of rest, immediately began responding once they saw the host’s message.
[How did you reconcile? Why not break up?]
[You’re too soft, OP. Today I’ll just leave it here; you’ll definitely regret it!]
[I agree with the above. The person OP is with seems extremely volatile in character. Who knows what they might do in the future.]
Jiang Ling regretted asking; in the end, he didn’t like others speaking ill of Chu Wenyu.
Actually, what the other party did wasn’t some earth-shattering, morally reprehensible act; he just hid a little something from him. Granted, the motive wasn’t ideal, but there’s room for remorse.
Moreover, now that His Majesty has acknowledged the mistake, it won’t play out as those people said.
Not wanting to delve further, Jiang Ling deleted his post.
Truth be told, he never really considered a breakup. As long as everything moved in a positive direction, he could overlook the past.
Feeling the weight of drowsiness, Jiang Ling slowly drifted off.
Close to midnight, Chu Wenyu opened his eyes, gazing at the door, his eyes calm.
Quietly moving himself onto the wheelchair, he was about to open the door. After a twist, he realized it wouldn’t budge. Chu Wenyu visibly soured, an uncomfortable feeling filling his heart.
At least for now, Jiang Ling probably hates him.
Chu Wenyu remained unusually composed; he understood. Jiang Ling couldn’t accept the real him at the moment, yet he couldn’t change. He couldn’t let go and stop paying attention to Alpha’s every move.
His heart felt tightly clenched, always preoccupied with every aspect of Jiang Ling.
And if the day comes when the other finds out everything about him, it would be unbearable.
Chu Wenyu made up his mind; he couldn’t confess, and he couldn’t truly let go.
In the darkness, the figure in the wheelchair didn’t give up just because the door was locked. He opened a nearby drawer, fumbled for a moment, and found the key. Quietly unlocking the door, he entered the room.
Alpha was indeed sound asleep, making Chu Wenyu feel quite unsettled. He couldn’t sleep himself, yet Jiang Ling slept like he didn’t care at all. But that worked to his advantage.
He didn’t believe that Alpha would be angry when he discovers him tomorrow.
Gritting his teeth, Chu Wenyu quietly climbed onto the bed, lifting the covers and squeezing his body into Jiang Ling’s embrace. It was inconvenient due to his legs, but fortunately, it didn’t wake Jiang Ling.
After a moment of rest, his breathing finally steadied.
In the dim moonlight, Chu Wenyu observed Jiang Ling’s picturesque features. Initially, Alpha seemed gentle, almost temperless, but he later discovered the man was quite stubborn.
From the initial dissatisfaction with being confined, jumping from the second floor, to this moment, Jiang Ling showed no fear.
And he was also resolute.
Otherwise, how could he really bring himself to treat him with such indifference?
Having lived for thirty years, he’d never bowed his head to anyone, no matter the situation. It’s just that he never expected there’d be a day when he’d value someone more than others, even willing to step back.
Chu Wenyu gently ran his fingers over Jiang Ling’s eyebrows, then up to his prominent nose, and finally, his thin lips.
He leaned in for a kiss, cautious not to wake Jiang Ling, refraining from being too intense, just a gentle touch.
For some reason, he’d been feeling increasingly uneasy lately, as if the days spent with Jiang Ling were stolen, destined to return to normal eventually.
The more unsettled he felt, the more he wanted to possess this person, to be close to him.
Especially now, his mind filled with scenes of Alpha as he came out of the bath.
Unable to restrain himself, Chu Wenyu’s fingers slowly traveled down, reaching the slender, white jade neck. He could even feel the pulsing heartbeat, undeniably stirring.
His breath quickened slightly.
Now, Jiang Ling’s hindering clothes were right at his fingertips.
Chu Wenyu licked his lips, supporting his body as he climbed on top of Jiang Ling. With difficulty, he used one hand to slowly unbutton the buttons below him, revealing a chest that was both fair and robust, the abs distinctly visible.
He remembered when they first began their physical training; Alpha was not as strong as now. Yet, each time he saw sweat running down his chest, he couldn’t help but feel a bit parched.
Chu Wenyu’s cheeks were now tinged with red. He held onto Alpha’s throat, descending into a wet kiss. The fragrance of the shower gel, mixed with Alpha’s natural pheromones, filled his nostrils, making him slightly intoxicated.
After almost kissing him all over, Chu Wenyu was feeling flushed and a bit woozy. Yet, being alone wasn’t an option. Faced with the completely unaware Jiang Ling, he could only reluctantly lie down, waiting for himself to calm down. He glanced at the still-closed eyes of Jiang Ling, inwardly cursing in frustration, and had no choice but to embrace him, closing his eyes to rest.
After all, there were still busy tasks awaiting them tomorrow.
The next morning, before Jiang Ling opened his eyes, his consciousness was already awake. He dreamt of Chu Wenyu last night, dreaming that he wanted to come find him, but was blocked outside the door, waiting for a long, long time.
Startled awake, after a night’s transition, he felt much calmer. He even worried about Chu Wenyu’s condition. It was quite helpless for him; clearly, Chu Wenyu was in the wrong, but in the end, he always managed to look pitiable, making it impossible for Jiang Ling to continue being harsh.
He opened his eyes, feeling a slight soreness in his arm. It seemed he hadn’t slept well. Frowning, he planned to check if Chu Wenyu had awakened.
However, as he lowered his head, he saw someone who shouldn’t be in this room, resting on his arm. No wonder it felt a bit achy.
Chu Wenyu’s long and thick eyelashes framed his face, where a vibrant birthmark added a touch of crimson, accentuating his porcelain and delicate complexion. At first glance, it might be unnerving, but Jiang Ling had grown accustomed to it, feeling no particular reaction.
The initial guilt had all but vanished, replaced by a hint of relief. Luckily, the dream scenario hadn’t materialized.
After a moment’s contemplation, Jiang Ling decided not to wake him. Ah, well, let it be.
Chu Wenyu, however, was a light sleeper. Sensing movement beside him, he groggily opened his eyes, only to find Jiang Ling gazing at him expressionlessly.
Avoiding eye contact, Chu Wenyu murmured, “All because of you. I can’t get used to sleeping alone now. Can’t we find another way to punish me?”
Even a good beating would be better than this.
If Jiang Ling knew what he was thinking, he’d be utterly speechless. Violence wasn’t in his nature.
“I’m not blaming His Majesty,” Jiang Ling rubbed his sore arm.
“Let’s put this matter to rest. I believe His Majesty won’t deceive me again,” Jiang Ling tapped Chu Wenyu’s nose.
Then, he sat up and realized his chest was exposed, adorned with numerous not-too-light marks – unmistakably someone’s handiwork.
Chu Wenyu, confirming Jiang Ling harbored no resentment, propped himself up and said nonchalantly, “Don’t stare. I did it. Any objections?” In an instant, he reclaimed his arrogance.
Raising an eyebrow, Jiang Ling thought that if he didn’t set boundaries, this man would undoubtedly go too far. Nevertheless, it was tolerable – this level of clinginess and possessiveness had its charm.
“How dare I have objections to His Majesty?” Jiang Ling casually replied before intending to button up.
However, a hand intercepted him. Chu Wenyu seized Jiang Ling’s hand, slowly releasing his fingers, placing his hand on his abdominal muscles, and giving it a gentle touch.
Sensing something amiss, Jiang Ling intervened, “Your Majesty, it’s daytime.”
Chu Wenyu sneered, “What’s wrong with daytime? Why so uptight?” With that, he leaned in, initiating a playful groping session.
Having considered it the previous night, since it seemed profitable now, Chu Wenyu wasn’t about to let the opportunity slip away.
Jiang Ling, feeling the heat rising, checked the time. It was still early.
With the curtains yet to be drawn, Jiang Ling held Chu Wenyu’s restless hand and decided to indulge him.
Looking into the somewhat dazed eyes of Chu Wenyu, Jiang Ling felt pure joy. This should be the best solution.
