VFMESR Chapter 5

After staying up all night, Jiang Ling finally figured it out. He probably did possess real spiritual powers. According to the information, the strength of one’s spiritual power might be related to the intensity of their soul.

Even though this research couldn’t be confirmed, if you followed this theory, Jiang Ling, having transmigrated into the original owner’s body, could be said to have double the soul intensity.

But considering his current situation, he couldn’t reveal this for now. Jiang Ling made a long-term plan: first, survive, and when the male lead’s interstellar conquest succeeds, he wouldn’t obstruct him and would quietly live as an ordinary person. Now, he could learn a survival skill in advance.

Being a mech pilot wasn’t within Jiang Ling’s consideration. Although enhancing his combat abilities would help with self-defense, mech pilots often required practical training, something he couldn’t manage now.

Suddenly, he remembered the information he had seen a few days ago about spiritual therapists and began to ponder it.

Early in the morning, feeling a bit hungry, Jiang Ling didn’t call the robot and decided to go downstairs to the refrigerator to find something to eat, considering it as exercise. After all, staying in the room all day long was quite stifling.

The new maid, Maige, was busy in the kitchen. Jiang Ling considered himself straightforward and law-abiding; so he didn’t have anything to hide.

Maige was startled by the figure that appeared at the door. Her hand holding the medicinal soup trembled for a moment, then returned to normal.

“Your Highness Jiang Ling, why did you suddenly come to the kitchen?” Maige asked while looking at his expression, speculating when this person arrived and if he saw…

“I came down to find something to eat,” Jiang Ling replied with a smile, waving the milk in his hand.

He probably hadn’t seen anything.

Maige was a bit anxious. She explained, “I’m preparing a calming soup for His Majesty. During these days every month, His Majesty’s spiritual powers tend to get restless.”

Jiang Ling had no doubts about why Maige still needed to serve Chu Wenyu. After all, Maige’s purpose for coming here was just to monitor him, still loyal to her true master.

He smelled the medicinal soup, which was somewhat similar to the taste of modern Chinese medicine, very unpleasant.

Maige thought Jiang Ling had never seen this before and explained, “This is an ancient Chinese recipe that has been lost for a long time. It is normal that Your Highness has never seen it.”

Jiang Ling chuckled and nodded.

She turned her eyes, a cunning light flashed inside. Suddenly, she said, “Why not, Your Highness take this medicine to see His Majesty as a sign of your loyalty.”

Jiang Ling instinctively shook his head, thinking of the last time he tried to help and Chu Wenyu’s reaction. He figured it might backfire.

But Maige thought it was a great idea and insisted a few more times.

This maid in front of him was in the same team as the villain, Jiang Ling was well aware of that. In the end, he didn’t refuse again to avoid giving Chu Wenyu using the excuse of ‘refusing to deliver the medicine’ to put pressure on him.

This time, he just needed to be careful not to touch each other.

Jiang Ling tidied up and carried the medicine to the nearby palace.

Maige knew she had to wait until Jiang Ling was completely out of sight before entering her own bedroom and quietly contacting someone.

“Chu Wenyu has reassigned me, not sure if he’s discovered my identity.”

“But it doesn’t matter; I’ve found a way to use the hostage for our plan.”

“As long as he drinks it, he’ll surely drop dead instantly.”

Maige had initially planned for a last-ditch effort, willing to trade her life for another; she might never have another chance to get close to that tyrant again in the future. Unexpectedly, she found a glimmer of hope that she could successfully shift the blame onto Jiang Ling.

Jiang Ling arrived at the palace gates, about to request entry and an audience with the king, when he saw someone leaving with a bag of clothes.

It was the same outfit Chu Wenyu had worn last time.

Jiang Ling overheard her conversation with another servant; apparently, she was heading towards the incinerator.1An apparatus for burning waste material at high temperatures until it is reduced to ash.

Could it be because he had touched it before?

Jiang Ling sighed and pushed his glasses. He couldn’t exactly pinpoint his feelings, but the unpredictability of the villain’s character was quite intriguing.

If Jiang Ling had initially come with intentions to please, now he just wanted to get in smoothly and leave. It was better to keep his distance from the villain, not provoke him unknowingly.

It would even be better if Chu Wenyu didn’t want to meet him. He could just leave after delivering the soup.

But his hopes were in vain.

As he looked at the monarch before him, concealed behind a mask, and the familiar environment where only the two of them existed, Jiang Ling grew even more cautious.

“Your Majesty, this is the soup medicine sent by Maige,” he said, hoping he got it right.

Chu Wenyu observed the meticulously dressed Jiang Ling and his somewhat stiff posture, suddenly recalling last night’s scene.

The monarch in the wheelchair appeared slightly annoyed, and his voice became colder for no reason, although that was normal in Jiang Ling’s perception.

“Just leave it there.” Chu Wenyu, who had just seen the truth in the surveillance, naturally knew that Jiang Ling was innocent. However, that didn’t stop him from pinning the blame on this man.

It was a good reason to suspect the prince of Charles’ star of plotting against him.

Jiang Ling heard the command and immediately planned to leave it and go. He subconsciously walked the table closer to Chu Wenyu, so the other couldn’t reach him.

But just as he was halfway there, he was stopped.

“Put it over there,” Chu Wenyu pointed to a faraway spot, still wary of the Alpha’s pheromones.

Jiang Ling hesitated for a moment, then went back to place it where Chu Wenyu had indicated.

Well, he had been too meddlesome in other people’s business. Their master-servant interactions were like a comedy show.

Jiang Ling was getting a bit irritated, but it didn’t matter. He was nothing more than cannon fodder, and he realized it was impossible to get along harmoniously with the villain. Next time, if there was such a stupid situation, whoever wanted to deal with it could do it themselves.

“Then, Jiang Ling takes his leave.” He didn’t want to stay here for even a moment longer.

Chu Wenyu sensed that the Alpha’s attitude had become somewhat colder. He couldn’t help but sneer, and the bloodthirsty aura in his eyes grew stronger.

Jiang Ling had no intention of noticing this person’s changes. With his new mindset, he couldn’t stay here for another day; he had to figure out how to escape from Burke’s star.

Let them fight their own interstellar battles.

After Jiang Ling left, Chu Wenyu immediately had someone check the medicine. In just a moment, they got the results.

Looking at the now cold soup, the steward by his side nervously spoke, “Your Majesty, should we order the Royal Guard to arrest Jiang Ling?”

No wonder he felt that as soon as that hostage left, the Emperor’s complexion became even worse. It was arguably the most terrifying time in these recent days, and even standing by the Emperor’s side couldn’t stop the sweat from forming.

Chu Wenyu stared out of the window and remained silent for a long time before he finally spoke, “No need.”

He picked up the medicine and slowly poured it into a potted plant nearby. The once lush plant withered slowly.

The steward was anxious. Wasn’t this destroying the evidence? Did His Majesty not plan to punish Jiang Ling?

“Leave,” Chu Wenyu spoke somewhat impatiently. His mind was restless like a burning fire.

The steward didn’t dare to provoke his bad temper and quickly left.

The tyrant in the wheelchair now appeared somewhat lonely. His legs hung like lifeless puppets.

The mental struggle in his mind was like a battle. Chu Wenyu couldn’t resist opening the surveillance feed. Why did that Alpha dare to show such disrespect on his territory?

He saw the golden-haired, blue-eyed boy still frowning while sitting on the couch searching for something. There was a male servant nearby, chatting away without much focus.

“Your Highness, I feel like I’m falling in love,” Anji’s face was filled with sweet smiles.

He had spent years in the Charles Palace and had never seen such a gentle and adorable Omega before.

“Who?” Jiang Ling asked perfunctorily.

He just wanted to know how to safely escape Burke star, given that he had no resident status here.

“It’s, it’s Sister Maige,” Anji said, feeling shy as soon as the words left his mouth.

Sister Maige lived next door to him. Every morning, he could see her gentle smile, which was enough to melt him.

“Oh,” Jiang Ling didn’t have a good impression of this master and servant pair, and his tone was extremely indifferent.

Anji shifted the topic, feeling a bit curious. “Your Highness, do you still like Sang Lan?”

If not for the original owner’s memories being so vivid, Jiang Ling wouldn’t even remember who Sang Lan was.

“I don’t like him.”

“Then, what type of Omega do you like now?” Even though they were currently prisoners, once they returned to their country, His Highness could still find a good Omega. Hopefully, not someone like Sang Lan.

Thinking about it, Jiang Ling remembered that strange villain. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He replied with an emotionless tone, “I like someone who is reasonable.”

After saying that, he found the living room too noisy, Anji’s constant chatter irritating him. He turned and walked into the bedroom.

Anji felt bored and went downstairs to continue chatting with his Sister Maige.

Only the cute cat-head robot had blue lights flickering in its eyes. It hurriedly followed Jiang Ling but was shut out when he closed the door.

“Very well,” Chu Wenyu almost gnashed his teeth.

He savagely manipulated the robot, trying to open Jiang Ling’s bedroom door to see what he was doing inside. But the door was locked, and he couldn’t open it.

The ugly cute cat-head robot stubbornly stayed at the door, its face showing unwillingness and anger.
