VFMESR Chapter 64

About twenty guests were invited, and Jiang Ling was the youngest among them. Of course, he also had the least experience.

The live broadcast took place at the Yatai Interstellar Exhibition Center, with many audience members expected to attend.

At the moment, there were only a few people with Jiang Ling, mostly older seniors at first glance, the youngest estimated to be around 30+. The director stood in the center, confirming when he saw Jiang Ling, then waved casually.

“Little Jiang, why wear a mask on such a hot day?” The director’s tone was casual, glancing at Jiang Ling’s attire. Thinking about the initial request, he didn’t expect it to be followed so strictly.

Upon hearing the director call out Jiang Ling’s pseudonym from the tournament, everyone looked at him, surprised that this newly emerged therapist was so young.

Glancing at his watch, Jiang Ling saw that it was the agreed-upon time, but it seemed that not everyone had arrived yet, probably waiting for that ‘big shot.’ He didn’t really like this atmosphere, so he didn’t respond to the director’s words, just explaining his purpose.

“Hello, director. I’m here to terminate the contract for participating in the meet-up.”

Yagor opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say. “Little Jiang, you know there’s a penalty for breaching the contract, right?” And the amount was not small. He didn’t think Jiang Ling could afford the penalty.

Originally, he thought bringing up the penalty would make the young man change his mind, so Yagor wasn’t too worried.

Jiang Ling’s decision to leave was something the director wouldn’t easily agree to. If he left, the remaining teachers would be left with their age, and who would the audience stop for?

“I can compensate. Director, you can have your staff talk to me about it. I’ll leave now.” Jiang Ling didn’t hesitate much; he didn’t want to linger and wait for someone.

Yagor’s expression turned serious.

“Little Jiang, let’s talk more. Can you tell me why you suddenly changed your mind? We can work things out. Breaking the contract abruptly is not good for the reputation of your organization, you know.” Yagor softened his tone, realizing it’s better to keep the person for now.

Thinking about the Warwick organization, Jiang Ling frowned. He didn’t want to affect them because of his own reasons.

Jiang Ling remained silent for a moment, ultimately just pointing to his watch, indicating that the time had already exceeded. He didn’t complain much.

The attention of the crowd shifted to the watch on his hand, expressing some surprise. Being in the industry at this level, their perspectives were naturally broad. They took a closer look at this young man, understanding his sudden decision to break the contract.

He must be a young noble, rich enough to do as he pleases.

Under the director’s cordial urging, the big shot arrived fashionably late.

After listening to the conversations of the guests nearby, Jiang Ling learned that the person approaching him was a professor from the Therapy Department of the Holy Dan Academy, which explained his air of distinction. The professor was good in other aspects, but in this position, he carried a certain level of aloofness and arrogance.

The Holy Dan Academy wasn’t unfamiliar to the original owner, given that as a cannon fodder, such places were out of his reach. However, as the male lead, his real younger brother was the pride of the academy.

The director’s first gathering had no special purpose, just a chance for everyone to get acquainted and a simple arrangement of the day’s schedule.

His idea was to have Jiang Ling act as a decorative piece on the side, occasionally cutting to a few shots of him; overall, he didn’t have much to do. The main content was the sharing session of more experienced therapists, similar to a grand lecture. Of course, there were also random opportunities for showcasing.

So, Jiang Ling stood on the side, playing with his phone, searching for interesting places in the Yatai Star.

Unexpectedly, he was suddenly cued, but it was the professor who had noticed him.

“Hello… a fellow student, right? Which academy are you attending?” Ignoring the director’s instructions, the professor walked over to chat with Jiang Ling. He didn’t have any ulterior motive; he simply wasn’t interested in this fan meeting and vaguely felt that this young man looked somewhat familiar.

Where had he seen those distinctive eyes before?

“An unknown place, probably not worthy of the professor’s attention.” Jiang Ling looked at him strangely, casually replying. He hadn’t changed his impression of this person just yet.

Moreover, he preferred to avoid those who shared the same environment as the male lead.

If he still had no spiritual power, there would be no need to worry. However, even though Jiang Qian was the male lead, Jiang Ling didn’t trust his character. What if he finds out that he now has spiritual power? That could only lead to trouble.

Jiang Ling had no interest in competing with the male lead for that position. Still, since the original owner was the eldest son, the male lead should feel a sense of crisis.

The professor didn’t press further, just becoming curious about why Jiang Ling was invited. There must be something exceptional about him. He suddenly thought about checking this young man’s competition records. Of course, the main driving force was that sense of familiarity.

As they dispersed, they all headed back to the hotel together, as they were all staying in the same place. The professor’s room was a step higher, a business room. However, the professor seemed quite busy, handing some documents to one of the therapists halfway and notifying his student to wait downstairs at the hotel. Then, he left.

When Jiang Ling’s group arrived at the hotel, he eagerly wanted to part ways with everyone, concerned that His Majesty would get bored by himself.

Unexpectedly, he saw the two people he had encountered before.

Of course, Jiang Ling couldn’t remember them, but when Ji Yun took the documents from the professor, Jiang Ling felt that this couple looked familiar.

Ji Kai never expected to meet the alpha again in such a situation. He had been wandering around the hotel all afternoon but hadn’t spotted anyone until now.

He watched as the invited therapists each went back to their rooms, contemplating Jiang Ling’s identity when the director called out to him as ‘Little Jiang.’ Ji Kai froze upon hearing the nickname.

That nickname was too familiar to him.

Ji Kai’s emotions were complex for a moment. He hadn’t expected that the person he felt a positive impression of for the first time would be the same person he had clashed with online, and to make it worse, someone he still held a grudge against.

What angered him even more was that the alpha didn’t even glance in their direction, walking towards the elevator alone.

On impulse, Ji Kai, with Ji Yun in tow, hurriedly caught up with the elevator.

In the confined space, looking at the alpha’s profile, Ji Kai’s gaze was elusive. It wasn’t entirely that he disliked Jiang Ling upon knowing his identity. Reflecting on his own actions, he felt like he might have been in the wrong. Most importantly, the contrast and mysterious aura of the other person oddly attracted Ji Kai.

Many idol dramas featured protagonists who loved and hated each other, and Ji Kai couldn’t help but feel a sense of destiny.

Curious about which floor Jiang Ling was on, Ji Kai watched as the alpha pressed the button for the 9th floor. His heart almost stopped, finding it somewhat unbelievable, but more than that, he felt curiosity and excitement.

Being on the same floor meant more opportunities to run into each other.

Ji Yun watched Ji Kai’s maneuvers with a dazed expression, glancing at Jiang Ling. Was this person really so charming? He managed to captivate his younger cousin’s heart like this?

Intentionally slowing their pace, they waited until after the alpha exited the elevator before following suit, intending to secretly know the room number where the other person lived. Of course, the main one who was curious was Ji Kai, but influenced by Ji Kai’s actions, Ji Yun unexpectedly felt a hint of curiosity too.

Ji Kai nervously trailed behind the alpha, pretending to be heading to his own room, even though the directions for the two rooms were different.

He observed as Jiang Ling stopped in front of a room number, pausing for a while. Unable to resist, Ji Kai glanced at the room number, and his expression instantly turned strange.

Jiang Ling waited at the door for a moment because he had forgotten his room key, and the default password was incorrect. He had to knock and wait for Chu Wenyu to help him open the door.

“Why are you back so late?” Chu Wenyu complained with a pout before pulling Jiang Ling inside and closing the door.

The two who silently witnessed everything exchanged disbelieving glances. They hadn’t expected such a coincidence. Jiang Ling actually knew that weird old man?

On the way back to their room, Ji Kai couldn’t help but furrow his brows and mutter to himself, “Are they brothers? But they don’t look alike…”

Ji Yun was also puzzled, and he unexpectedly spoke up, “How do you know they don’t look alike? We haven’t seen his face yet.”

“Impossible…” Ji Kai waved his hand dismissively. Even if he only considered their eyes and brows, he couldn’t link these two individuals. Their temperament was also worlds apart.

While they discussed Jiang Ling, Chu Wenyu and Jiang Ling were also discussing them.

As soon as Jiang Ling entered the room, he saw Chu Wenyu had already packed everything up, as if waiting just for him.

“What’s going on?” Jiang Ling was still puzzled.

“There was something unclean in this room, so I took the liberty to change to another one,” Chu Wenyu tilted his head. He wasn’t satisfied with this place to begin with, finding it uncomfortable. The intrusion of those two individuals only intensified his disdain for the environment.

At the same time, the hotel manager was in a state of distress, needing to appease customers who had to be involuntarily relocated. The top floor of the hotel had the best view of the Yatai Star, and it came at a sky-high price for one night. Even so, there were many wealthy individuals willing to arrange such extravagance for their lovers.

However, today, a highly influential figure unexpectedly arrived. After brief consideration, the manager ultimately had to cancel the original reservations. This decision forced the hotel to figure out a way to apologize to the displaced customers.

There wasn’t much they could do aside from that. The person in question was someone no one dared to provoke. His mere presence in their hotel was considered an honor.

The environment on the top floor was incomparable to regular rooms, offering a variety of luxurious facilities. Attractive service staff lined up, ready to fulfill the guests’ every desire, as if afraid the guests would need to eat with their hands.

Chu Wenyu dismissed the staff, leaving only the two of them on the entire floor. He reluctantly nodded.

From the floor-to-ceiling windows, they could see the panoramic view of almost the entire capital of Yatai Star. The glass cabinet displayed many unopened bottles of wine, each with a price that ordinary people wouldn’t dare to imagine—excessively extravagant. Only a few lights in the room were turned on, casting a dim and ambiguous atmosphere. Chu Wenyu gazed fixedly at the alpha, thoroughly enjoying this ambiance.

He tugged at the hem of Jiang Ling’s clothes. When Jiang Ling bent down, Chu Wenyu’s hands hooked around the alpha’s neck, and he lifted himself from the wheelchair, wrapping his arms around Jiang Ling’s waist.

To avoid the alpha disliking his extravagant behavior outside, Chu Wenyu casually brought up the incident with those two individuals, batting his eyes pitifully. “You have no idea what I went through today…”

“I was waiting obediently in the room for you, but during my rest, two people rudely barged in. It seemed like they were startled by my appearance, so I changed the password later. Clearly, they were good-looking omegas, but why are they so annoying?” Chu Wenyu then rubbed his forehead against the alpha’s chest.

“It’s not safe there. I don’t like it,” he added, and his moist eyes once again hooked onto Jiang Ling’s attention like a lure.

Afraid the person in his arms might fall, Jiang Ling supported Chu Wenyu’s lower legs, holding him even tighter. However, he was clearly distracted by Chu Wenyu’s words.

“Is there such a thing? Your Majesty, do you know who those two people are?” Jiang Ling frowned, a bit displeased.

After asking, Jiang Ling soothingly kissed Chu Wenyu’s forehead and whispered gently, “Your Majesty, don’t bother with those shallow and vulgar omegas.” As he spoke, he wondered if Chu Wenyu liked alphas like himself for this reason.

“Tomorrow, we’ll check the surveillance footage to find out who those two people are,” Jiang Ling’s words surprisingly hinted at a desire to investigate.

“Aren’t you worried about how I’ll deal with them?” Chu Wenyu hesitated, asking if Jiang Ling was concerned. Alpha hated him playing dirty the most.

“They shouldn’t have provoked you. Even if it were me, I wouldn’t let it go easily.” It wasn’t just about entering the wrong room; Jiang Ling couldn’t stand the idea of his Majesty being disliked.

“I feel like taking a bath,” Chu Wenyu smirked, secretly happy that the alpha would defend him. However, he didn’t want to bring up the topic again.

As they headed to the bathroom with Jiang Ling carrying him, Chu Wenyu’s mind started to wander again. He opened his mouth and whispered softly in Jiang Ling’s ear, “Today, I want to be held and… played with.”

After saying that, he buried himself in Jiang Ling’s chest, the heat rising to his forehead.
