VFMESR Chapter 69

In the vast palace, the echoing footsteps pacing back and forth were exceptionally clear. Despite the palace attendants scattered throughout, there was an eerie silence.

His Majesty’s face was flushed, and his slightly aged eyes stared like copper bells. None of the attendants dared to lift their heads, afraid that an unintentional direct eye contact with His Majesty might shift his anger onto them.

After receiving the message conveyed by Reg, Charles hadn’t left the palace all day, and even now, his head was still buzzing.

If Reg hadn’t repeatedly guaranteed the truth of his words with his life, Charles would never have imagined such a beastly thing happening.

Although Charles’ eldest son was handsome, he was undoubtedly a genuine alpha, and currently, he possessed extraordinarily high spiritual abilities.

That Chu Wenyu was too indiscriminate in his choices!

Charles was infuriated; this kind of humiliation made it hard for him to swallow his pride.

Although he wanted to immediately crush the Burke Star and show Chu Wenyu some colors, this unrealistic idea was dismissed after a moment. Taking action now would not only disrupt the interstellar balance but also lower Charles’ chances of success.

“Summon the Minister of Foreign Affairs, let him organize things properly. I want to personally talk to the ruler of Burke Star.”

Charles didn’t believe that Chu Wenyu’s arrogant response was solely due to… those filthy reasons. Surely, there must be other intentions towards Charles.

In front of him, the other party shouldn’t be so arrogant.

Finally, while Charles was eagerly waiting, everything was arranged, and Burke Star had also accepted their request to talk.

Chu Wenyu remained seated in his wheelchair, appearing unfazed by the impending questioning. He didn’t think he had gone too far, maintaining the carefree demeanor for which he was famous.

The alpha was positioned not too far away, just out of view for anyone on the opposite side to catch a glimpse.

Up until a few seconds before the video meet, Chu Wenyu provocatively lifted his head and asked Jiang Ling, “Jiang Ling, you’re about to hear the conversation between me and your father. Are you nervous?”

Challenging his boyfriend’s father right in front of him was something only someone with Chu Wenyu’s lack of etiquette could do. Although Jiang Ling wasn’t the original owner, he found Chu Wenyu’s behavior a bit too extreme. Yet, when it came to Chu Wenyu, such antics were considered normal. It had become so usual for Jiang Ling that it didn’t even surprise him anymore; this was just who Chu Wenyu was.

Upon seeing the somewhat weary face on the other side, Chu Wenyu restrained his amusement and casually played with his fingers.

“King Chu, it’s a pleasure to greet you again.” Charles was several rounds older than Chu Wenyu, but in his presence, he couldn’t assume superiority based on age.

“I’m pleased too.” Although Chu Wenyu smiled falsely and curled his lips, his tone was dismissive.

He had long anticipated that Charles, this old fellow, would take some action, but so what? He felt no fear whatsoever.

“King Chu, I would like to discuss the recent breach of contract. Your Majesty, what are your thoughts?” Charles appeared outwardly calm, showing no signs of anger; he had reached the limits of his patience.

If it weren’t for the fact that the other party was the ruler of Burke Star, he wouldn’t tolerate this royal scandal.

“What thoughts can there be, just as your general told His Majesty.” Finally getting to the point, Chu Wenyu raised an eyebrow.

As a king, Charles rarely engaged in such direct diplomacy with other nations. He was simply shocked by the audacity of the person before him, as if unaware of how shameless such reasons were.

“My eldest son, Jiang Ling, is barely twenty years old, and he’s also an alpha like you. Can’t you… let him go?” Charles, feeling suffocated, finally forced out these words with a scrunched-up face. He found today’s communication humiliating.

“Twenty years old… the prime of youth…” Chu Wenyu glanced at Jiang Ling, who was sitting not far away, and smiled.

Charles couldn’t stand such eccentric remarks. His frown could have squashed a fly, feeling utterly unable to talk with Chu Wenyu. The other party, in his eyes, hardly resembled the ruler of a nation.

“Jiang Ling is young and inexperienced. Perhaps he offended you in some way. Spare him, at least don’t let my son… do things like an omega.” Charles could no longer conceal his anger. His eyes burned with hatred as he stared at Chu Wenyu, almost wishing to reach through the screen and take matters into his own hands.

“When you sent him over initially, you didn’t seem so concerned, did you?” Chu Wenyu chuckled, leaning forward with an unfriendly gaze.

After speaking, he glanced at Jiang Ling, worried that the other might genuinely get angry.

“Your Majesty, rest assured, I will take good care of His Highness and won’t mistreat him. I heard the Second Prince is also exceptionally talented. You should continue to nurture him well. If you’re still upset, Burke Star is always at your service.” Impatient to continue the conversation, Chu Wenyu called in the diplomat.

Compared to typical national leaders, he was indeed much more bold and unrestrained.

Jiang Ling watched as the two failed to reach an agreement, feeling that Charles was meddling unnecessarily. The other side could easily follow the original storyline, and it would make no difference with or without him. Besides, the relationship between the original owner’s father and son was thinner than paper. In his view, they couldn’t compare to Chu Wenyu.

“Jiang Ling, I’ve restrained myself quite a bit. You shouldn’t have any objections.” After all, the person on the other side was Jiang Ling’s father, and Chu Wenyu worried that his alpha might find him too wicked.

Although Chu Wenyu remained arrogant in front of Jiang Ling, his aura was entirely different from how he acted in front of others – softer.

Leaning against the wall, Jiang Ling felt Chu Wenyu tug at the hem of his clothes, finding the contrast amusing.

“Tsk, listening to His Majesty’s majestic tone when talking to King Charles just now, did I become your useless forbidden toy?” Jiang Ling crossed his arms, questioning with a playful tone.

To anyone’s eyes, Chu Wenyu, who appeared fierce and domineering, would likely be perceived as the one coercing Jiang Ling into a submissive role. In reality, he was the one enforcing his will, and from a certain perspective, he could also be the one taking the lead…

“I am, and it was my initiative.” Chu Wenyu smiled with gentle eyes, trying to please his little boyfriend. He knew the other wasn’t genuinely bothered.

“But you deserve to be with a real omega. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t be forced to accept a tough alpha like me, but would have a soft and gentle omega. Actually, King Charles’s suggestion is not bad.”

Chu Wenyu thought of something, and his smile faded.

In truth, when he told Reg that Jiang Ling wouldn’t marry and have children, he felt uneasy because his alpha had been deprived of those freedoms.

And Charles had a point; Jiang Ling was still very young, and in the future, he might want other choices.

Jiang Ling knew Chu Wenyu was sensitive, but he hadn’t expected him to jump to this conclusion so quickly.

In reality, Chu Wenyu’s existence had long decided his preferences. At this point, he might not be interested in any soft and gentle omega.

“Would it be better if I were an omega?” Chu Wenyu lowered his gaze, feeling a bit melancholic.

Unfortunately, even if he were to revert to being an omega, he wouldn’t be the same as before. In his quest for power, he had lived as an alpha for so many years. Apart from the damage caused by the forced transformation, even his personality had evolved into something entirely different from the lovable soft omega he used to be.

Upon hearing Chu Wenyu’s murmuring, Jiang Ling snapped out of his thoughts, his expression serious and deeply concerned. He was worried that someone like Chu Wenyu might question his own attributes over such trivial matters.

“Your Majesty, your willingness to compromise for me is already quite generous. There absolutely cannot be any absurd thoughts in the future. Your alpha attributes are excellent; they make you the perfect you, and it doesn’t hinder us being together at all.” Jiang Ling felt a significant emotional impact, a mix of pity and guilt.

After learning about Chu Wenyu’s true personality, he had considered escaping when he found it unbearable. But the fact that the supposed domineering and unreasonable villain would question himself over such insignificant matters left Jiang Ling bewildered.

“Moreover, I don’t like omegas myself. I dislike sensitive and fragile omegas.” To prevent Chu Wenyu from having such thoughts again, Jiang Ling resolutely said.

Chu Wenyu, however, seemed stunned, not pleased. He weakly countered, “I feel like omegas… are quite cute.” At least, he didn’t dislike them.

And no matter how he heard it, he felt that the adjectives ‘sensitive and fragile’ that Jiang Ling used were describing him… at least when dealing with the alpha.

“Your Majesty, have you ever liked an omega before? Or perhaps been tempted by an omega?” Jiang Ling sensed that something was off in Chu Wenyu’s words.

In his impression, Chu Wenyu never seemed to like omegas much, nor did he enjoy being surrounded by them. Why the sudden change in attitude?

But speaking of it, Chu Wenyu is already thirty. Perhaps in his younger days, his preferences were also towards the more delicate and gentle omegas. Moreover, back then, he probably couldn’t control his reactions to omega pheromones very well. Although under Chu Wenyu’s control, it’s rare to find an omega around him, and he’s not easily tempted either. However, he doesn’t mind if Chu Wenyu had previous relationships.

Chu Wenyu’s cheeks turned slightly red, a mix of shyness and awkwardness.

There was no way he could have been tempted by omegas. Until he was thirty, he remained single, never experienced a heat cycle, and his glands on the back of his neck were sealed, making it impossible for alphas to detect. The sweet fragrance of pheromones had become non-existent.

In truth, Chu Wenyu felt a bit disappointed. He had never seen the alpha fascinated by him, and he couldn’t immerse Jiang Ling in his pheromone scent. If it were any other omega, during their heat cycle, a simple gesture would be enough to attract admirers. But his alpha always remained composed, even when he tried to be proactive, he couldn’t lure him in.

“I haven’t, but you, don’t let other omegas lure you away in the future.” Chu Wenyu pouted.

Unless it was him, that is.
