The target had already shifted to Jiang Ling, and for now, Maige hadn’t thought of a way to deal with Chu Wenyu herself.
The Alpha Prince, at the age of twenty, would be at his peak of desire, but unfortunately, his hostage identity had shackled him. Maige had been trained since childhood, and dealing with this inexperienced Alpha, she considered herself more than capable.
She came out from her room, changed into new attire: a palace-style shirt on top and a pleated skirt from the waist down. Her already lovely appearance was accentuated, making her look even more enchanting.
Anji’s eyes widened at the sight of Maige like this. Maige had always been in a maid’s uniform before, and at that time, he already thought she looked like a gentle fairy. Now, dressed up, Maige was even more captivating.
He was idle in the villa, unable to go out, and just wanted to chat more with his sister Maige. Then he saw her heading upstairs.
“Maige, is there something you need from His Highness?” Anji asked curiously.
While Maige had been arranged by the monarch to serve their Highnesses, His Highness preferred privacy and rarely called for him, let alone Maige.
“Oh, it seems His Highness was accidentally injured by Captain Wilson earlier. I’m going to check on him,” Maige said gently, her voice soft.
Anji slapped his head as if blaming himself for being careless.
His Highness didn’t have spiritual abilities; he must not have been able to handle whatever Wilson did. Maige was skilled and should have a better understanding of His Highness’s condition.
“Then I’ll go too!” Anji was about to go upstairs to comfort His Highness, but Maige stopped him.
“Anji, His Highness needs rest now, and too many people will disturb him.”
Anji realized this was probably the case and reluctantly got down the two stairs he had just climbed.
“Alright, Maige, please take good care of His Highness,” he said before returning to the living room, feeling bored, watching the guards outside, and eventually closing the door in annoyance.
Maige adjusted her expression, making sure every strand of hair was in its most beautiful place. She had heard that this hostage was not favored on Charles Star, so giving him some extra care should easily earn his favor.
Generally speaking, there was no one Maige wanted to charm that she couldn’t, except for the tyrant, of course.
When she finally sneaked up to Chu Wenyu’s side, initially, she approached him slowly with the idea of using a gentle beauty trap. However, who would have thought that this crippled man, who seemed cold-faced and hard-hearted, would turn out to be so unresponsive? In the end, she gave up because it didn’t seem to work, and she rarely had the chance to get close to him.
Maige stood outside the door and gently knocked. Her voice was as sweet as possible. “Prince Jiang Ling, may I come in?”
“Do you have any business?” Despite his clear and gentle tone, there was a hint of distance in his voice.
If you were to make a chart of the people in this world, Jiang Ling would put Chu Wenyu and Maige on the same side.
The villain and his lackeys.
So, what good intentions could they possibly have? At least not to a cannon fodder like him. He couldn’t even compare to the little cat robot by his side, who seemed more cute.
The expression on Maige’s face froze, and she couldn’t help but say, “Your Highness, can you let me in to talk?”
Jiang Ling had no choice but to let her in, but his expression remained indifferent.
“Your Highness Jiang Ling, Maige came up specifically to check on your injuries.” She took a few steps closer, as if she wanted to sit next to Jiang Ling, using this excuse to get closer to him. She was convinced he couldn’t remain unaffected.
“No need, I’ve already found the medicine.” It wasn’t appropriate to be so intimate with a girl, especially when Maige’s concern seemed so odd. Jiang Ling was already feeling stressed from Chu Wenyu’s actions.
Seeing Alpha move further away from her, Maige’s mood soured. She felt that he didn’t understand her charms at all.
She lowered her gaze and said, “Your Highness, once Maige was assigned to you, she became yours, firmly standing by your side. There’s no need to be so wary of me.” She sounded somewhat aggrieved.
Jiang Ling couldn’t understand her intentions, but he didn’t believe her for a second.
“Well, I understand. You can go now; I need some rest.” He didn’t even look up at Maige.
Maige gripped the hem of her skirt, looking at the unresponsive youth in front of her. She felt like her efforts had been in vain. Her gaze grew darker, and she had no choice but to leave for now.
However, it was clear she hadn’t given up; she was just waiting for the right opportunity.
If Jiang Ling was still puzzled by her actions, someone else was nearing the brink of anger. Chu Wenyu almost crushed the remote control in his hand, his previously sickly pale hand now showing bulging veins.
It took considerable effort to rein in his emotions, especially when he saw Maige sit next to the Alpha. He didn’t even realize he was clenching his teeth and regretting his decision to place Maige near Jiang Ling. He even wished he could send someone to deal with her immediately.
Clearly, he had forgotten that his initial intent was to connect the hostage with this spy, thus framing Jiang Ling with a crime.
However, Jiang Ling’s reaction somewhat eased the monarch’s mood. This person dared to be disrespectful to him; there was no way he would fall for this woman’s charms. Thinking of this, Chu Wenyu’s mood improved slightly, but when he thought about Maige’s not-so-bad appearance and her slender waist, his face turned cold again.
Well, as a hostage, it’s good enough to be able to protect yourself, don’t even think about having any romantic relationships in my territory.
That night.
Jiang Ling had just come out of the bathroom, ready to read and then rest. The monarch, who had observed all of this, found himself oddly interested in watching Jiang Ling read, watching the occasional furrowing of his brows and the pushing of his glasses, seemingly boring but strangely captivating movements.
Chu Wenyu laid on the bed, still wearing his mask, a moment he rarely took off, his face adorned with an unusually gentle expression. He laid there quietly, his slender shoulder blades flowing smoothly downwards, making his whole figure appear fragile from behind.
On the surveillance screen, Alpha seemed ready for some rest. He took off his glasses, rubbing his eyes, revealing his charming face in full.
A strange sensation began to brew within Chu Wenyu.
He wasn’t tired yet, and in fact, he had a somewhat dark desire to catch a glimpse of the sleeping face of this Alpha, who was ten years his junior. Unfortunately, that foolish cat’s head still hadn’t found a way to unlock the door.
Just as Chu Wenyu was about to close the surveillance and prepare for some rest, there was a commotion outside the door.
“Your Highness…” Maige’s voice sounded off, like she was in suffering.
Jiang Ling paused for a moment, unsure of what was happening, but still went to open the door for her.
“You…,” He had barely opened his mouth when he was embraced, a warm body pressed tightly against him. Jiang Ling, who had never experienced such emotions before, was momentarily bewildered, realizing what had happened, he quickly pushed Maige away with a hint of disgust.
“What are you doing?” He took a few steps back, feeling like both the master and servant were acting strangely.
Maige seemed to be struggling with something, her hair damp with sweat, her cheeks an abnormal shade of red, and her eyes watery.
She spoke with difficulty, “Your Highness, I seem to be in heat…” Her voice trembled, her eyes fixed on Jiang Ling.
She was wearing only a white nightgown, the straps slipping off her shoulders, her hair in disarray, looking especially tempting.
For the first time since arriving in this book, Jiang Ling encountered an Omega in heat, and his Alpha nature made him feel a bit heated as well. At this moment, he didn’t have any ill intentions towards Maige and furrowed his brow, asking, “Where are the inhibitors? I’ll go get them for you.”
Maige shook her head, “I’ve run out of inhibitors…” She said before trying to get closer.
She was determined to seduce this hostage, so she had taken medicines to induce her estrus. She figured that if she did this, the person in front of her couldn’t possibly refuse her.
Jiang Ling quickly dodged her, retreated from the living room, and locked the door.
Suddenly, the plot from the original book popped into his head. There seemed to be a passing mention of a maidservant in the villain’s palace going into heat and trying to seduce the tyrant in the original book.
Could it be that because of the butterfly effect caused by his transmigration, what was originally supposed to happen to the villain was now happening to him?
Jiang Ling’s mind was in chaos, so he hurried downstairs to tell Chu Wenyu about this matter. After all, Maige was Chu Wenyu’s maidservant.
But just as he reached the doorway, he was stopped by the guard Chu Wenyu had sent to stand there, who even made a few sarcastic remarks.
“Your Highness, please restrain yourself.”
He had no choice but to patiently explain, “Maige’s in heat, and I’m going to find her a inhibitor.”
The guards remained unmoved. They weren’t about to believe what this guy was saying; they couldn’t afford to neglect their duty.
This series of utterly bewildering events left Jiang Ling, who was usually quite patient, chuckling.
“I want to go out.,” Jiang Ling said coldly, having had enough of this.
The guards at the door remained as still as mountains.
If he were in the modern world, he could force his way out, but unfortunately, this world had some darned spiritual powers.
“Fine.”
Jiang Ling’s expression turned chilling, his once gentle face now radiating threat, like a wolf. He slammed the door shut with a resounding thud and scanned his surroundings. There were guards stationed at every window.
After going up to the second floor, he finally spotted a blind spot beneath one of the windows. Below was a pile of grass, and the ground was about four meters from where he stood.
Without hesitation, Jiang Ling pushed open the window and jumped down without looking back.
Even if he ended up dead, he only had two possible outcomes: either he returned to the modern world, or it was game over for good. Jiang Ling felt that either option was better than the current situation.
There was a sharp pain in the calf; he wondered if his leg was broken.
“I’m not dead, that’s a relief,” Jiang Ling muttered to himself, wiping his face and cautiously limping towards the residence of His Majesty.
After all, it was the endgame. Before that, he had to find a way to settle his score with the villain.
Before resting, Chu Wenyu had dismissed all his attendants. He actually disliked having people help him, so he often challenged himself. When he noticed something strange in the surveillance feed, he clenched his lips and struggled to climb into his wheelchair. It took great effort to push the wheelchair out of the bedroom. A young Alpha had just broken in.
His soft golden hair was adorned with bits of leaves, and the sky blue home outfit was disheveled, revealing a large area of skin around his knees, which were scraped and bore traces of blood.
Of course, what was impossible to ignore was the overwhelming scent of minty pheromones that hit him square in the face.
Chu Wenyu felt like his brain had short-circuited.
