VFMESR Chapter 76.1

Near the wormhole.

The air reeked of the foul stench from the Zerg corpses, amidst the shattered mecha units and the interstellar spiritual users either heavily injured or lying down.

The Zerg are numerous and extremely difficult to deal with. Everyone’s exhausted, yet in the face of the seemingly endless swarms of Zerg, they can only tough it out.

Jiang Qian is no exception.

He had never directly confronted 008, vaguely understanding that their abilities were probably similar. Even if they united, they wouldn’t match Chu Wenyu. It was only when he truly competed with the other that he realized how formidable the Zerg leaders are—neither side can truly overpower the other.

Faced with the gigantic creature before him, Jiang Qian steered his mecha back a few steps, thinking to retreat to the camp for a brief rest. As an interstellar individual, he naturally hates the foreign invaders. Yet, Jiang Qian’s thoughts in these days have been elsewhere; he doesn’t have a strong desire to exterminate the Zerg, considering it too daunting. His only wish is to temporarily drive them away without disrupting his own objectives.

Unexpectedly, the Zerg before him morphed back into human form, smiling as he slowly approached.

Zoro, another high-ranking general under the Zerg King, received information from other lurking Zergs after 008’s demise, giving them a general understanding of the current interstellar situation.

Zoro wasn’t really serious about his confrontation with Jiang Qian today. Jiang Qian is formidable but not fearsome. They are more concerned about the human who caused 008’s explosive demise.

“Your Highness, shall we talk?” Zoro spoke in the common interstellar language, evidently trained for this purpose.

Jiang Qian furrowed his brow, landing from his mecha, and led Zoro to the edge of the battlefield, away from prying eyes.

“What do we have to talk about? You’re Zerg, and I’m an interstellar person.” Jiang Qian snorted coldly, his body tense, in a defensive posture.

If 008 hadn’t concealed his identity, he would never have colluded with the other party.

Zoro curled his lips, his golden eyes shining brightly.

“Let’s make a deal.”

Jiang Qian refused without hesitation, “Impossible. Don’t think you can play tricks.” He didn’t see any reason for them to cooperate, and the accusation of treason was not something he wanted to bear.

“Are you really not going to reconsider? Or does Your Highness want the news of your collaboration with us, a Zerg general, attacking Burke Star to be leaked?” Zoro’s eyes hardened, threatening Jiang Qian unexpectedly.

Jiang Qian’s gaze sharpened, glaring at Zoro. He hadn’t expected this person to threaten him.

Recalling the reaction of the interstellar population when he framed Chu Wenyu, if they were to know the truth…

Annoyed, Jiang Qian asked, “What exactly do you want?”

“Don’t worry, it won’t harm you. You just need to lead Chu Wenyu and Jiang Ling into the wormhole. After that, my Zerg assure not to harm Charles in the slightest,” Zoro asserted confidently.

Jiang Qian, hearing the proposal, fell into contemplation before giving Zoro a sidelong glance and spoke, “Are you aware of Jiang Ling’s strength? Are you certain that he’ll be at your mercy once inside the wormhole?”

“No need to trouble yourself further.”

Zoro sneered coldly, with their King and the remaining five generals mobilizing to eliminate the threat. They planned to seal the wormhole, leaving Jiang Ling with nowhere to escape.

“Fine, I agree,” Jiang Qian’s expression intriguingly calm.

Soon after, the Zerg retreated back into the wormhole, granting a temporary interval to the federal soldiers.

Seeing Zoro suddenly withdraw from a certain point and fly back into the wormhole, followed by all the Zerg creatures as if they received a command, the battlefield returned to tranquility.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, attributing the credit to Jiang Qian, believing he had driven back the Zerg’s high-ranking general.

Field reporters who came to the frontlines eagerly reported this, and praise for Jiang Qian flooded the interstellar networks.

Jiang Qian felt elated, especially at the thought of Jiang Ling soon disappearing from his sight. He enjoyed an indescribable joy, now being the prince most adored by the interstellar populace.

However, another report quietly surfaced and rapidly spread like an explosion.

The ruler of Burke Star arrived at the frontline upon invitations from various star systems, accompanied by his beloved, none other than Prince Jiang Ling of Charles Star.

Paparazzi had only managed to snap a few blurry photos, but it was enough for keen-eyed netizens to notice something fishy.

Though the pictures were blurry and poorly lit, the person in these photos were undoubtedly the therapist little brother who had been trending across the internet recently—an utterly dreamy collaboration.

[Oh my gosh! Finally found you, thank goodness I didn’t give up!]

[He’s amazing, the Charles royal family’s genes are incredible! Big bro is too amazing!]

[It’s all my fault; I’m not worthy. Little bro found an awesome host ages ago, and there I was thinking I could woo him. Can’t afford that, though.]

[So, it’s really a fairytale romance! The livestream malfunctioned that day ’cause His Majesty couldn’t stand seeing his beau being eyed up, wuwuwu, he must’ve been there.]

[Please, blogger, snap clearer pics, we’re starving for them~~]

Somehow, due to the interstellar population’s thirst for attractive individuals, the handsome boy was easily forgiven, even sparking compassion.

Everyone knows the Crown Prince is a therapist with no combat skills, they were worried, fearing for his safety at the frontline.

[Your Majesty, please take good care of our little brother, wuwuwu…]

Just the thought of that face getting hurt breaks the hearts of young netizens.

Even Jiang Qian’s StarBlog was flooded with a large number of messages.

[Prince Jiang Qian is so wise and powerful, you must take good care of your brother, don’t let him get hurt!]

All the prior praise for his strength seems to have been for this moment. Jiang Qian even started feeling like a tool in their eyes.

Sure enough, as long as Jiang Ling exists, there’s no peace for him.

Luckily, the agreement between him and Zoro is about to be realized.

Although Chu Wenyu acknowledges Alpha’s rare display of strength, as expected from a Triple-S level spiritual user during the last incident, he considers it a special circumstance. In reality, Jiang Ling hasn’t undergone enough training to stabilize and harness his abilities properly.

He didn’t intend to let the Alpha get involved, just in case something happened.

Moreover, he is not troubled by any spiritual problems now; he’s confident he can handle it alone.

So, when Jiang Qian suggested taking the initiative to attack the wormhole, Chu Wenyu did not intend to let Jiang Ling accompany them.

“You stay at the camp. I’ll go with Prince Jiang Qian,” Chu Wenyu frowned and said to Alpha.

Before Jiang Ling could say anything, Jiang Qian seemed somewhat agitated.

“No, that won’t do!”

Chu Wenyu cast a fleeting glance at him, seemingly probing to understand what he wanted.

After all, Jiang Qian is responsible for the Zerg’s appearance and had attempted to harm him blatantly, not to mention the subsequent false accusations.

There’s an inevitable conspiracy here. Going by his experience, it wouldn’t be surprising if Prince Jiang Qian struck some deal with the Zerg. And the reason behind the insistence on bringing Jiang Ling along is even more obvious.

Although Chu Wenyu is concerned, Jiang Ling is deeply aware of his own body. Ever since the last incident, he feels as if his body underwent a transformation. His ability to use spiritual powers has surprisingly become proficient, almost innate.

“In that case, let’s go together.”

As the departure time approached, Jiang Ling met an acquaintance of the original owner, someone not particularly friendly.

The visitor was seeking Jiang Qian, none other than Jiang Qian’s fiance, Sang Lan. Feeling somewhat uneasy, Sang Lan found a way to reach the frontline. However, when Jiang Qian saw him, he didn’t seem all that pleased.

Jiang Ling wasn’t interested in finding out what had happened among the main characters during this period; he merely used this delayed moment to whisper to Chu Wenyu.

“There’s definitely something fishy here. Later, Jiang Qian probably won’t enter the wormhole, but since he’s here, he won’t have a choice,” Chu Wenyu’s tone was cold, suggesting that sparing Jiang Qian clearly didn’t match his ‘an eye for an eye’ character.

“What about you? How does it feel seeing your ex-fiance again?” Chu Wenyu seemed to be joking, but his gaze remained fixed on Sang Lan, scrutinizing him from head to toe.

Seeing Jiang Ling seemingly about to explain, Chu Wenyu placed a finger on his lips, chuckling with an intriguing interest.

In reality, Chu Wenyu had long stopped caring. Besides, the moment he saw Sang Lan in person, he felt there was nothing to threaten him—just teasing the alpha.

Sang Lan felt somewhat uncomfortable. Someone who had been so devoted to him in the past was now leaning on another omega, especially one who was a plain-looking tyrant.

Glancing at Jiang Qian, Sang Lan felt reassured. He had been keeping an eye on the frontline’s affairs these days and naturally knew that Jiang Qian’s reputation was excellent now. He was admired by the interstellar population, definitely a better catch than Jiang Ling, who had no combat capabilities.

Unaware of the situation, Sang Lan saw Jiang Qian leading soldiers, seemingly about to depart for a simple confrontation with the Zerg. Moreover, being an S-class spiritual user himself, his abilities were not weak. Even if he took a step back, he knew Jiang Qian would protect him. Hence, he requested to accompany them.

“What are you going to do?” Jiang Qian frowned. If Sang Lan followed him, he would undoubtedly stick close, making it hard for him to break away later. He didn’t want anyone else to witness his exit from the wormhole.

Sang Lan shook his head, pouting. He just wanted to go; he wanted everyone to know that he and Jiang Qian were together. It would be even better if someone intentionally reported it, so everyone could know that Jiang Qian had a fiance. Otherwise, he worried that after this incident, Jiang Qian would attract more attention and wouldn’t fancy him anymore.

Growing impatient with the delay and with everyone waiting for departure, Jiang Qian reluctantly agreed.

‘If you know, then you know,’ he thought to himself. He didn’t believe Sang Lan would reveal what he had seen; they were in this together. Moreover, Sang Lan was his fiance, and maintaining silence was necessary for his own reputation.

Jiang Qian led the soldiers to the front and soon arrived at the mouth of the wormhole.

Looking from outside in, it was a fantastical, pitch-black abyss, completely obscure for some unknown reason. It was precisely because of this uncertainty that no one dared to rush in. However, with two double S-class spirituals present, they were resolute.

“Your Majesty, this is the wormhole. The Zerg habitat lies beyond it. Shall we enter now?” Jiang Qian asked.

However, the person who had been agreeing all along now smirked mockingly, “Prince Jiang Qian, the inside of the wormhole is unfathomable. Let’s observe first.”

According to the agreement, it was already time, and Jiang Qian was a bit anxious. But if Chu Wenyu and Jiang Ling didn’t go in, he couldn’t do much.

Initially, he had thought of this possibility and had intended to incite public opinion if Chu Wenyu refused to go in, rallying the soldiers against him. But he hadn’t anticipated that just Chu Wenyu standing there would intimidate everyone into silence. The soldiers who had conspired earlier were completely silent.

“Your Majesty, waiting out here could take forever.”

“In that case, why don’t you go in and explore ahead?” Chu Wenyu replied directly. He wasn’t about to take orders from a prince.

Jiang Qian’s words were stuck on his lips, his expression grim. How could he dare to enter early? What if Zoro broke the agreement? He’d be finished.

But fortunately, it seemed those inside couldn’t wait any longer. A Zerg creature flew out of the wormhole, followed by a large swarm, highly aggressive.

Soldiers piloted mechas, engaging in combat with the Zerg.

Sang Lan had never seen such a scene and had no experience in actual combat, feeling completely at a loss beside Jiang Qian.

Meanwhile, where Chu Wenyu and Jiang Ling were, the area was plagued with Zerg insects, and these ordinary-level Zerg did not pose any threat at all.

However, even Chu Wenyu was surprised. He hadn’t expected Jiang Ling to move so smoothly, especially since he sensed that Jiang Ling hadn’t even tapped into his triple S-class spiritual power yet.
