VFMESR Chapter 76.2

Inside the wormhole, the Zerg commanders couldn’t wait any longer. The first to come out was Zoro, flying directly towards Jiang Qian, emitting an angry buzzing sound. He hadn’t anticipated this human to be so useless; in that case, there was no need to keep Jiang Qian alive.

Jiang Qian focused, dodging sideways in terror, only to realize that Zoro’s strength had increased even more since their last encounter.

The powerful wings flapped wildly like a fierce gale, leaving Jiang Qian in a desperate state of panic. Unfortunately, Sang Lan by his side suffered too. He was sent flying by a wing, crashing heavily onto the ground.

Inside the mecha, Sang Lan felt his head throbbing as if it would explode. Seeing Zoro flying towards him again while Jiang Qian was nearby, Sang Lan summoned all his strength, crying out for help, “Ah Qian, save me…”

Jiang Qian, piloting the black mecha, slowly turned around. In the brief moment he glanced at Sang Lan, Zoro flew over. The black mecha decisively dodged, avoiding the attack.

Sang Lan’s mecha was completely wrecked, and he was lying inside it with closed eyes, wondering whether he would live or die.

Jiang Qian felt uncomfortable for a moment but couldn’t dwell on it. He hurried to Chu Wenyu’s side, gasping for breath. “Your Highness, please take action,” he urged, breathless.

Zoro was too powerful; Jiang Qian couldn’t match his strength. In reality, if he went all out, they could fight fiercely, but at this critical moment, Jiang Qian had thoughts of escape. It was better to let the two of them handle it.

Jiang Ling witnessed everything and looked down on his younger brother. Was this kind of person worthy of being the male lead? Clearly, the protagonist of the original story hadn’t encountered setbacks, exposing only his good side to the readers.

“Your Majesty, let me do it,” Jiang Ling also wanted to test his own abilities.

Chu Wenyu nodded, though he wasn’t willing to see Alpha in danger. However, he understood that he would be Jiang Ling’s support, so the latter need not worry.

Zoro immediately recognized that this was the person responsible for the disappearance of 008 and became more alert.

He still used his skillful tactics, but as soon as he charged, he became dizzy, disoriented, and experienced intense pain in his head.

By the time he truly felt the impact of spiritual power, Jiang Ling had already launched an attack against him.

The weakness of the Zerg was the head, particularly vulnerable in the eyes. Jiang Ling infused spiritual energy into his arm and smashed it toward Zoro’s head.

Dark blood dripped slowly. Zoro tumbled on the ground before barely regaining consciousness, his eyes filled with horror. He hastily flew back through the wormhole, unable to discern directions in his dazed state.

He always believed that the interstellar people relied solely on external objects, being weak and the so-called spiritual power they spoke of was like a mysterious concept, utterly useless.

Not until this moment did he realize the horrifying power of spiritual abilities. Perhaps before, he didn’t sense it because those people didn’t possess such powers.

Zoro’s body felt off-balance, yet he managed to return to his lair, although completely incapacitated for a short while, needing immediate recovery. More importantly, he had to relay this message to their king; somehow, they had still underestimated the human’s strength.

Chu Wenyu watched everything and easily sensed Zoro’s terrifying power. He had considered going up to help Jiang Ling at any moment before.

It wasn’t until he experienced the other’s spiritual power in a sober state for the first time that he realized the difference between SS-class and SSS-class was immense.

Despite training for years, spending endless days and nights in training, he was highly likely no match for someone who had trained for less than a year but possessed spiritual abilities one level higher.

“You could have saved him just now,” Chu Wenyu pointed to Sang Lan in the distance, staring straight at Jiang Ling.

His strength was completely risk-free.

“Everyone has their fate. Am I just a good person in Your Majesty’s eyes?” Jiang Ling said something that he couldn’t have believed himself a long time ago.

Truthfully, he didn’t ignore Sang Lan out of spite. It’s just that without any prior confrontation with Zoro, he didn’t have confidence. If Zoro targeted Chu Wenyu, what would he do? He had to be in a position to assist Chu Wenyu at that crucial moment.

It was at this moment that Chu Wenyu truly felt Alpha’s favoritism.

Zoro fled in panic, boosting the confidence of the Federation troops, each one brimming with determination.

“Your Majesty, shall we pursue?” a soldier asked, not willing to let go of this golden opportunity.

They had been locked in a lengthy struggle on the front lines and didn’t want it to drag on indefinitely.

They exchanged a glance and nodded.

They had long figured out the Zerg’s lineup. Zoro was the prime general under the Zerg King and was currently severely injured. On the other side of the wormhole, there should be only the Zerg King and four others left. Rather than wait for Zoro to recover before engaging, now was a better moment.

Most importantly, both of them had just sensed the terrifying extent of Jiang Ling’s spiritual power.

Seeing this, Jiang Qian, with a disheveled look on his face, still managed a smile. He had been waiting for this moment.

Just as he was about to subtly slow down his pace, Chu Wenyu piloted a mecha and hoisted Jiang Qian up front, speaking bluntly.

“Prince Jiang Qian, what are you hiding from? Lead the way.”

In an instant, Jiang Qian became the target of everyone’s criticism. Some soldiers had witnessed his earlier neglect towards his fiance, feeling greatly scornful. How nice his words sounded earlier, yet he turned out to be a coward who couldn’t even protect his own omega.

Jiang Qian was coerced into being the first to enter the wormhole, and everyone followed suit.

After passing through a long tunnel, they laid eyes on another civilization.

The level of civilization in this new place wasn’t much different from the interstellar one. The individuals standing before them often appeared in human form, transforming into insects only during combat.

Upon sighting the enemy, the Zerg soldiers became wary, both sides displaying fierce aggression, seemingly on the brink of a deadly clash. However, the appearance of the Zerg King halted everything.

The Zerg King’s true form might have been an enormous entity, but in human guise, he appeared to be a handsome man in his thirties.

Five years ago, the Zerg discovered another world from this location, prompting the Zerg King’s father, the previous Zerg King, to develop an interest.

Sending Zerg infiltrators into the interstellar realm to learn its culture led to today’s scenario.

However, his son, the current Zerg King, didn’t share such ambitions. He was forced to continue the previous generation’s command. Though he carried the weight of a serious monarch, his nature remained laid-back and haughty.

“Our Zerg King wishes to speak with you,” the translator by the Zerg King’s side conveyed.

Jiang Ling and Chu Wenyu exchanged glances, feeling that the situation might not be as dire as expected; after all, nobody truly favored war.

After the conversation, they understood that upon learning there was strong human being like Jiang Ling, the Zerg King had lost significant confidence, and the pressure from his ministers had lessened.

Perhaps, their war might only end in mutual destruction. Consequently, both sides agreed to a compromise: the two strongest individuals from each side would engage in a duel. If the Zerg King lost, they pledged to permanently seal the wormhole, treating the two worlds as separate entities.

This was the final concession the ministers could offer; more of the Zerg were inherently aggressive.

Jiang Ling acknowledged that sealing the wormhole was the best solution. Most interstellar people were ordinary individuals, unable to endure war, unlike the Zerg, where everyone was a potential soldier.

He agreed.

People kept their distance, cautious. Chu Wenyu, outside the battle circle, pondered. The outcome didn’t concern him; he only cared about Jiang Ling’s safety. If Jiang Ling got hurt, he would break the rules to assist him. Their chances of winning were substantial.

He could forsake everyone else, but he couldn’t let Jiang Ling get hurt for the sake of the majority’s safety.

Therefore, no need to go all out; he didn’t want Jiang Ling to push himself.

Nobody knew Chu Wenyu’s intentions. All they knew was their fate rested on the supposedly frail prince, who, as it turned out, wasn’t as fragile as rumored.

They nervously watched the Zerg King transform into a creature several times larger than Zoro. They weakly watched as the two sides fought, seemingly evenly matched.

Yet, they cheered with each of Jiang Ling’s moves and anxiously gripped their fists when the Zerg King charged forward.

Ultimately, it ended peacefully. The Zerg King voluntarily stopped; he understood the outcome and saw no need to continue.

He had numerous wounds, while Jiang Ling’s mecha sustained minor damage, leaving him unscathed.

“We will fulfill the promise and permanently seal the wormhole.”

The author has something to say: One more chapter… tears.
