VFMESR Chapter 77

Peace arrived too suddenly, and the people in the interstellar world have not yet recovered.

On the day the wormhole closed, those able to attend did so, witnessing this historic moment firsthand. Meanwhile, others were glued to the interstellar broadcast with full attention.

The number of casualties was fortunately low, which was the most heartening aspect.

However, after the curtains fell on the war, some revelations came to light.

Perhaps the most shocking revelation was that the seemingly inconspicuous Prince Jiang Ling was the true catalyst behind it all.

Without the soldiers present that day confirming this fact with tearful recollections, hardly anyone would dare believe it.

[It was an incredible scene; I’ve spent years studying mechas and never seen anything like it.]

[It wasn’t until I saw Prince Jiang Ling seriously injuring Zoro that I dumbfoundedly realized he wasn’t here for show.]

[To witness a spiritual strength surpassing even the double S-rank—was that the legendary Triple S? It felt like a dream.]

The people of Charles’s Star felt both honored and somewhat resentful because they had never known that such a prince existed in their own galaxy. What shamed them even more was that they did not dare to classify His Highness Jiang Ling as one of their own because the Burkians would undoubtedly retort, ‘Actually, he’s more Burkian.’

Soon, all their ire and anger were directed at King Charles. Even though they didn’t dare insult the king openly, many Charlesians would mutter under their breath, ‘He’s a complete idiot.’

Logically, the Federation should have dissolved with the end of the war. However, with a shared understanding across all star systems, they silently preserved the Federation and invited Burke Star to act as the leading nation.

Of course, this was to flatter Jiang Ling, and they were well aware that cozying up to Charles was a grave mistake.

Charles himself couldn’t fathom that his eldest son was a Triple S-level spiritual user. Recalling the signals he received during the rituals, he realized he should have gone all out at that time to bring his son under his control, preventing the current predicament.

Jiang Ling’s reluctance to return to Charles’s Star wasn’t due to hatred toward King Charles. It was simply his nature to dislike that kind of pressure; he preferred a carefree life. Moreover, if he did return to Charles, it would mean he hadn’t considered Chu Wenyu’s feelings at all.

His lover’s omega status had been exposed.

If he returned to Charles, how would others perceive Chu Wenyu?

Jiang Qian probably never expected that he didn’t need to lift a finger to get what he wanted. However, now that he had obtained it, it came at a much higher cost.

As someone who had been consistently active in the public eye during this time, Jiang Qian carried even greater expectations. Even if Jiang Ling garnered more attention in the end, as Jiang Ling’s brother, some still remembered him. Yet, amidst other discussions, revelations made the interstellar population feel manipulated.

Sang Lan was eventually rescued, but he was severely wounded, not only physically but emotionally.

Every time he closed his eyes, he recalled the scene from that day. Jiang Qian was beside him but he turned a blind eye, utterly unconcerned about his safety.

Sang Lan wallowed in self-pity for several days, but upon hearing the news about Jiang Ling, he broke down even more. It wasn’t regret; he just couldn’t bear so many distressing things.

No omega wishes their future partner to be someone who cares nothing for their life. That’s too terrifying. So, he quickly had his father propose canceling the engagement. Yet, this wasn’t enough to relieve his anger. Sang Lan eventually exposed the matter, wanting Jiang Qian to face condemnation.

He couldn’t suffer in vain.

After this news broke, all the young omegas who had professed their feelings for Jiang Qian on the Star Network felt a chill, disgusted by the idea of liking such a scoundrel.

[Wanna fall in love? I’ll watch you die~]

[Scumbag biss!]

[Disgusting, I’m gonna vomit…]

And it didn’t end there. Another piece of news about Jiang Qian broke out.

The whistleblower was a Charles soldier who escaped from the battle on the Burke’s Star border.

[The one who really colluded with the Zergs was Prince Jiang Qian. Not only that, when our army suffered the Zergs’ backlash, Prince Jiang Qian alone piloted a warship and fled. Of course, he’s much stronger than us, naturally capable of escaping.]

This isn’t merely about emotions; it’s a matter of integrity and character issues.

The Charlesians fervently rejected the idea of having such a person as their future king.

[Who knows if he’ll abandon us when faced with problems later.]

[Speaking of which, I have to curse his old man again. He had such an outstanding eldest son, yet he turned a blind eye? Sending Prince Jiang Ling as a hostage, and now he’s cozying up to Burke’s Star…]

[Charles is doomed sooner or later…]

These uproars on the Star Network persisted for a few days, and Jiang Ling heard about them but didn’t pay much attention.

He didn’t really enjoy the limelight; it always felt awkward. However, what made him happy was that amidst this incident, all the responses regarding his relationship with Chu Wenyu were full of blessings.

Chu Wenyu could openly live as an omega now.

After the Zerg incident, it seemed like all the impossible things became reasonable, and people became more tolerant in their outlook.

Jiang Ling now had the capability to traverse various corners of the galaxy, unhindered by anyone. However, he chose to remain quietly within the Burke’s Star Palace where he had always lived.

They hadn’t been to the seaside all this while, and finally, the two found a free day.

The weather was splendid, with a clear blue sky, fluffy clouds, and the beach’s temperature was just perfect—warm but not scorching.

“Your Majesty, hold onto my waist tightly.” Jiang Ling lifted the omega from the wheelchair.

His leg still couldn’t be treated, and wearing a prosthetic was completely against Chu Wenyu’s style; he’d rather remain immobile than put on that ugly thing. Fortunately, both had adapted to this rhythm of life. At least Chu Wenyu’s limited mobility prevented them from coming to blows during arguments.

Chu Wenyu being an omega didn’t deter his inherently violent nature. But of course, even if all limbs were intact, he wouldn’t lay a hand on the alpha. As for Jiang Ling, he was a civilized person, never resorting to physical violence, especially towards his omega.

Omegas were fragile and pitiful; Jiang Ling’s omega was a bit unique, but essentially no different.

Walking along the beach, heads leaning together, Chu Wenyu, unable to exert much force, placed all his strength into holding Jiang Ling’s hand.

Leaving footprints in the shallow water, suddenly, just like before, Chu Wenyu pursed his lips and pulled Jiang Ling closer, bending his legs.

Jiang Ling could have embraced him this time, but he understood what the other was thinking, so he complied. They fell onto the beach, the sand was soft and it didn’t hurt at all.

It seemed like it was just a while ago when they experienced a similar situation, back then, his mind was filled with thoughts of leaving. Experiencing it again now, looking at this face, Jiang Ling no longer recognized his past self. Why couldn’t he think about what’s going on in the mind of the omega?

For someone as proud as Chu Wenyu, making such a proactive move was a significant step. How could Jiang Ling refuse?

“Jiang Ling, my clothes are wet. Can you help me change?” After being marked, the omega revealed a side he had never shown before—surprisingly tender, not out of place at all, his eyes moist with anticipation.

In this way, the bad memories will be overwritten directly.

Jiang Ling chuckled and lifted Chu Wenyu directly, heading back towards the villa.

On their way, they unexpectedly encountered a passerby, perhaps because this particular beach wasn’t sealed off by Chu Wenyu, and the person had wandered in from another area.

She quickly recognized the two of them, looking surprised and somewhat fearful but couldn’t resist taking a few steps closer. Presumably a fan, she asked in a hushed tone, “Prince Jiang Ling, when are you getting married?”

Marriage was merely a formality, especially given their status; it involved a lot. In fact, just being together like this was fine.

The young girl was obviously not very old, not thinking so much, only knowing that her ‘CP’ had to be together! Getting married would be the best!

Chu Wenyu, however, was always carefree, and Jiang Ling was a laid-back person. What was there to worry about?

The two exchanged a glance; Jiang Ling’s eyes revealed a smile first, and Chu Wenyu cautiously curved his lips upon receiving the signal.

A few days later, Burke’s Star government’s official account posted a StarBlog Post, containing no text, only a photo, and swiftly deleted it.

But it was enough to cause an explosion.

A few quick individuals saved it; this was the most insane ‘CP’ they had seen in their lifetime, even though the protagonists were already crazy enough.

With a bright red background, the two stood side by side. Being their first time, they were a bit nervous, but perhaps this was the only time in Chu Wenyu’s life that he truly followed orders.

Perhaps because he was genuinely happy, Chu Wenyu’s birthmark had a hint of shy charm, making it not unattractive but rather charming.

Of course, in Jiang Ling’s eyes, he had always been charming.

At this moment, Chu Wenyu was no longer just a villain from the book to Jiang Ling; he was his own unique omega.

The story from the original book has ended, but their story was just beginning.

The author has something to say: It’s over, it’s over~~ This book still has many shortcomings, but thank you all for reading until now!! Farewell for now, my darlings! Love you all, muah~

It’s the end, guys! This novel wrapped up pretty quickly, didn’t it? I really enjoyed reading it and hope you guys did too. Jiang Ling & Chu Wenyu made such an adorable and strong couple. I was hoping for more of their story, but this is where it ends.

About that scene in the summary where Jiang Ling walks away from Chu Chu towards the enemy, I saw a comment on NU saying it never happened. But it did – it’s the same scene where Jiang Ling’s mecha explodes. However, Jiang Ling walking towards the enemy was actually Chu Chu’s hallucination. I don’t know if you guys thought that scene was missing, but I actually felt that way. It was only after translating that I realized they were the same scenes. The way the author wrote the summary made me think there was more angst coming till the end, but the scene didn’t happen. He really fooled me!

And that scene where Chu Wenyu ties Jiang Ling with chains, I never saw that coming! (Wish it lasted a bit longer though.) Still, Chu Chu’s growth throughout the novel was great to see. It was amazing watching both of them change and evolve. Their last scenes were really adorable!!!1Don’t forget to comment on your favorite scenes!
