VGAB Chapter 59

The legendary immortal [Modern]

Qi Heng was lost in thought for a moment, and then raised his hand and transformed Qin Luo into a tiny two-inch figure.

Qin Luo, with a suddenly narrowed perspective, heard, “Don’t panic, I’ve just shrunk you. I’ll turn you back when we get there.”

Qin Luo: “…”

He had prepared himself for the idea of having a twin brother, but why was Qi Heng so unconventional?

Qi Heng picked up a delivery box with spirit talismans on the shelf and tossed the miniaturized Qin Luo inside.

“Stay put.”

The palm-sized box felt like a vast, empty house for Qin Luo at this moment. He crawled for a while but couldn’t reach the edge of the box.

Qi Heng used a string to tie the delivery box slightly, then carried it out of the door.

If he remembered correctly, that surge of malevolence seemed to have gone in the southwest direction.

Standing on the street, Qi Heng knocked on the box. “Qin Luo, have you been to the southwest direction?”

“Southwest?” Qin Luo responded in confusion, “Which way is southwest? Is it front-back or left-right?”

Qi Heng’s expression was odd. “You can’t even distinguish directions?”

Qin Luo stood his ground. “It’s not my fault. I’ve always been bad at it. If you say front-back or left-right, I’ll understand.”

Qi Heng frowned. “But what if you accidentally get caught in someone’s formation and can’t figure out the direction? How will you find your way out?”

“Oh, come on, Uncle, you know as well as I do that it’s the end of the world now. There are hardly any practitioners left, let alone anyone using formations.”

A super luxurious car stopped in front of them, and the young and handsome gentleman opened the car door, his eyes gleaming as he approached Qi Heng.

Fortunately, he had been wandering around in the vicinity, and now he encountered him again.

“Master Qin, are you going out?” the young gentleman asked eagerly.

Qi Heng nodded slightly, “I have some business to attend to.”

“Where are you headed, Master Qin? If it’s on my way, I can give you a ride,” the young man offered.

“To the southwest,” Qi Heng replied.

“The southwest?” The young man thought for a moment, then smiled with apparent delight, “Is it near South Yang Middle School? I happen to be going that way, it’s on my route.”

The tone of this pleasant surprise sounded completely fake as if he had ulterior motives. Qin Luo felt like, even if his uncle said he was going to a cemetery, this guy would probably say he was on his way to pay respects to the deceased.

However, no matter how much Qin Luo complained, he could only watch as the young man eagerly opened the car door for his uncle and insisted he sit in the back. He even strategically placed his uncle in the rear seat, as if he didn’t know that rearview mirrors can be used to steal glances.

The car slowly cruised on the road, and the young man looked up in the rearview mirror. The person in the back seat was reclined against the chair, exuding an air of elegance and laziness.

The young man couldn’t help but take a deep breath, and when he saw the other person opening his eyes, he quickly looked away, as if afraid of getting caught, and forced a conversation.

“Master Qin, you helped me last time. Would you let me treat you to a meal when you have some free time?”

“It’s just a trivial matter, nothing to fret about,” Qi Heng’s voice remained cold, and the young man sneakily glanced at the rearview mirror. “Master Qin seems a bit different from earlier this morning.”

Qin Luo felt a pang of panic at the mention. He hoped he wouldn’t be discovered.

However, he quickly calmed down. He wasn’t the one who provoked this situation, and even if he was found out, it would be his uncle’s problem. He had no reason to worry.

“Oh?” Qi Heng’s expression remained unchanged. “How so?”

“The you from this morning seemed to be more approachable,” the young man cautiously probed, noticing the frown from the back seat. He hurriedly added, “I didn’t mean to imply that there was anything wrong with Master Qin. In fact, I prefer the way you are now.”

Qin Luo: “…” What was wrong with the way he was this morning? This guy must be crazy, insisting on liking it when people are cold and distant towards him.

Qi Heng turned his gaze to the window, and a dark cloud loomed over South Yang Middle School.

“Stop right here,” Qi Heng said.

The young man halted the car, feeling frustrated. He had deliberately slowed down, yet they had arrived so quickly.

“I won’t use this car next time; it’s too unreliable,” the young man muttered.

Qi Heng got out of the car, and the dark energy in the sky instantly retreated a few meters.

“There’s a grudge here!” Qin Luo in the box sniffed.

On the rooftop of the school, a male student stood there, pale and swaying.

As the school bell rang, numerous students poured out of the classroom buildings, and some of them inadvertently looked up and saw the scene.

“Oh my God, look, a guy is about to jump off the building!!!”

The male student closed his eyes and took a step towards the empty space, eliciting gasps from the onlookers.

Some people called school teachers and security, but the student’s precarious position made them hesitant to make any sudden moves that might provoke him.

The standoff continued for a while until the fire department arrived.

Qi Heng followed the firefighters into the school, and the school security guards were no longer at their posts, so no one noticed him sneaking in.

As he moved deeper into the school, the dark energy in the sky also gradually retreated.

“Damn it!” The evil spirit possessing the male student cursed. He had been dead for decades, and he had finally found a suitable host, but now he had stumbled upon a terrifying human.

He hadn’t even done anything, yet the human, with his aura of virtuous golden light, made the evil spirit involuntarily retreat.

Realizing that he was losing control over the male student, the evil spirit made a desperate move, directing the man’s body to jump off the building.

Screams erupted as the male student’s body plummeted from the rooftop, like a graceful butterfly with a perfect arc.

Mid-fall, the male student’s strong will to survive drove the evil spirit out of his body, and he regained control over himself.

“Help, help!”

The firefighters swiftly placed a cushion below, and Qi Heng raised his hand to slow down the student’s descent with a burst of spiritual power.

As the male student descended, he broke down in tears and sobs, overwhelmed by the near-death experience.

With mucus and tears flowing, he seemed utterly miserable.

The paramedics who had arrived rushed to take the student into the ambulance and drove away.

“Interference!” The evil spirit snarled in frustration. It had been so close to success.

Three or four Taoist priests hurried over, and they seemed to have a conversation with the firefighters, after which the students were quickly cleared from this area.

Once the onlookers had dispersed, Qi Heng’s presence became evident.

Upon seeing him, the Taoist priests were taken aback. One of them asked, “Qin Luo, weren’t you on sick leave due to your injury? How come you’re here?”

Qi Heng glanced at the sky and replied indifferently, “I sensed something amiss at home and followed it to see what was happening.”

“I see,” the lead Taoist priest nodded, then inquired, “Did you come up with a solution to the issue, Qin Luo?”

The tiny Qin Luo inside the box had his own thoughts, “Plastic colleague? After more than a year, he still can’t recognize me.”

As the situation grew more chaotic, the ignored vengeful spirit became increasingly furious and unleashed its resentment. The Taoist priests’ faces turned serious.

“This vengeful spirit surprisingly has a deep level of cultivation.”

Suddenly, the surroundings changed, with strong winds and a pungent, unpleasant smell of blood.

Resentful energy enveloped everyone, and then a gigantic black hand reached out toward one of the Taoist priests.

The leading Taoist priest commanded, “Hasten as per the law, appear!” He tossed a talisman into the air, and it turned into ashes.

The vengeful spirit was compelled to manifest.

Its limbs flailed abnormally, and one of its eye sockets had been gouged out, making it appear extremely terrifying.

“A few stinking Taoists, do you really think you can stop me?” Blood dripped from the vengeful spirit’s eye sockets. “Today, I’ll show you my power.”

With that, the vengeful spirit raised a hand to strike the Taoist priests. Meanwhile, in the shadows, Qi Heng took the opportunity to toss Qin Luo towards the vengeful spirit. As Qin Luo spun through the air, he reverted to his original form and found himself face-to-face with a vengeful spirit straight out of a horror movie.

Instinctively, Qin Luo reached for the talismans on his person.

“Swift as per the law, appear!”

The talisman flew toward the vengeful spirit, but it seemed unafraid as if it considered the talisman harmless.

“Qin Luo, be careful!” someone shouted, “It’s behind you!”

Without looking back, Qin Luo quickly dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the vengeful spirit’s attack. The impact struck the ground, causing it to blacken and sizzle as if it had been corroded.

The vengeful spirit, unsatisfied, continued to attack with a series of blows. With each strike, Qin Luo struggled to evade, and the spirit gained the upper hand.

“Come on, one by one,” the vengeful spirit taunted with an evil laugh. “I haven’t tasted the souls of you cultivators yet.”

Seeing that Qin Luo was slowing down, a few of the Daoist masters noticed and quickly called out, “Qin Luo, we’ll assist you!”

From the shadows, Qi Heng raised his hand and infused Qin Luo with a surge of spiritual energy.

Qin Luo’s aura underwent a sudden and drastic transformation, now exuding a tremendous amount of pressure. The vengeful spirit, feeling this change, froze in place and then desperately attempted to escape the school grounds without looking back.

Sensing the danger, the vengeful spirit tried to break through the school’s barrier at the entrance, but it was repelled and thrown back about ten meters.

This momentary delay allowed Qin Luo and the others to catch up quickly. However, a large group of students had gathered at the school gate, their faces filled with curiosity, watching the scene unfold.

The vengeful spirit entered the body of a student, forcing Qin Luo and the others to halt their actions. They didn’t want to harm the student’s soul by attacking. The vengeful spirit seemed to know it had the upper hand and taunted them with a grin, then controlled the student’s body to move away from the crowd.

However, the vengeful spirit’s triumph was short-lived.

“Why are modern practitioners so weak? They can’t even capture an ordinary vengeful spirit. Especially Qin Luo, I provided him with spiritual power, and he’s still so useless,” Qi Heng said. He raised his hand and pointed it in the direction of the possessed student, and a dark aura flew toward the student, eventually settling in the palm of his hand.

The vengeful spirit trapped within the dark aura was utterly immobilized, its face contorted with frustration. It had thought it was safe, only to find that within moments, it was forcefully held within someone’s grasp, unable to resist in the slightest.

When did such a person like Prince Chen appear in the world?

The vengeful spirit was filled with doubt, but upon regaining its senses, it realized that it had been brought to the group of Daoists, who were discussing how to deal with it. Suddenly, they saw another Qin Luo approaching and were taken aback.

“Why are there two Xiao Qin here…?”
