On my first date with Fang Xiānsheng, we went to the beach.
In fact, I didn’t really want to go to the beach, because nine out of ten I had to take off my shoes and go to the sea when I got there. But nine out of ten ballet dancers have ugly feet, and the soles of my feet were not only ugly but also deformed, so I didn’t want to show them in front of Fang Xiānsheng at all.
After receiving flowers from Fang Xiānsheng for so many years, I have had to do something on the first date. Considering that the beach was quite far away and it would take several hours to go back and forth. So, we probably wouldn’t be able to go back to the city in time for lunch at noon, I finally decided to make a lunch box for Fang Xiānsheng.
I felt ashamed to say that I had been living with my parents for the past few years and my cooking skills had never been good. Whether it tasted good or not was one thing, I was afraid that if it was undercooked or the wrong ingredients were used, it would be disastrous if Fang Xiānsheng had a problem eating. So, in the end, my mother became the chef and I helped out.
I asked, “Mom, can you make the bento into the shape of a human face?”
My mom said, “Of course.”
I said, “I want someone with blue eyes and a little curly hair.”
My mother glanced at me and said in a long voice: “Okay~”
Standing next to me, I explained: “That’s a movie star I’ve been obsessed with recently. He’s a Russian, very handsome!”
My mom said, “Oh.”
I couldn’t make it up anymore, so I had to tell the truth: “Well, actually, it’s the gentleman who always sends me flower baskets.”
My mom said, “Oh!”
I said, “In the future, it may or may not be possible for us to be together.”
My mom said, “Oh?”
I suddenly broke out in a cold sweat and confessed, “Okay, we’re actually together.”
My mother was silent for a while, and then she called my name: “Xiao Li Sheng.”
Damn it, every time my mom had called out me by my full name, nothing good had happened. Sure enough, it wasn’t long before I was punished and my mother said: “You don’t get a share of the lunch box today.”
I wailed, floated out of the kitchen, and lay down on the sofa, pretending to be dead.
But later I opened Fang Xiānsheng’s bento and found that my mother still made a double portion.
Oh, I was so lucky to have a proud and charming mother.
We agreed to set off at 9:30, and Fang Xiānsheng came to pick me up.
Before the time came, my mother held a bento in one hand and held me by the fountain downstairs, waiting.
I was a little embarrassed and wanted my mom to go back. My mother refused and said, “I have to see what that person named Fang looks like. You are so stupid. Who should I turn to if you are kidnapped?”
I had no choice but to explain Fang Xiānsheng’s situation to my mother, but I didn’t mention the agreement between Ms. Jiang and I.
My mother was still dubious and said, “No, I still have to take a look. With your eyes, a wolf can be treated like a dog.”
I was about to refute my mother when Fang Xiānsheng arrived. Parking was not allowed in the community, so he walked in. Sunglasses, a camouflage shirt, and light-coloured cropped trousers perfectly highlighted Fang Xiānsheng’s tall and lean figure.
The eyes within a radius of twenty meters were instantly focused on Fang Xiānsheng. However, he was unaware and walked toward me, took off his sunglasses, and smiled at me.
I shook my mother’s hand and said, “That is Fang Xiānsheng.”
My mother said nothing.
Fang Xiānsheng quickly walked up to me and called my name softly. Then he glanced at my mother silently, turned to me, and said, “Let’s go.”
I felt my mother’s breath fluctuate for an instant, so I quickly stopped him and tried to turn the tide: “Fang Xiānsheng, please, please wait a moment, this is my mother. Mom, this is Fang Xiānsheng.”
My mother reached out her hand and said, “Hello, Mr. Fang.”
Fang Xiānsheng looked at it, then at my mother. After hesitating for a long time, he slowly stretched out his hand and said, “Hello, Mom.”
“Mom! What are you doing? Call Auntie!” I felt like my forehead was on fire. I almost forgot that Fang Xiānsheng not only had an IQ off the charts, but he was also a man who liked to break the rules of integrity.
“Hello, Auntie.” Mr. Fang changed his words obediently, then took out candy from his pocket and handed it to my mother.
I knew my mother must have felt messy in the wind.1Messy/scattered in the wind: Just like how wind makes things messy and disorganized. Taken from here, this phrase now usually describes inner thoughts that are messy and cannot be sorted out.
When we arrived at the beach, Fang Xiānsheng was still brooding over the fact that my mother did not accept his candy.
I said: “Only children receive candies, adults don’t receive candies.”
“Oh, adults are so pitiful,” Fang Xiānsheng said, handed me a candy, and said, “Xiao Xiao, let’s eat it ourselves.”
“…” In order to prove that I was not a pitiful person, I had to eat the candy. Yeah, the milk flavour was pretty good.
There were not many people on the beach, so we rented a parasol and moved all our food and drinks under the umbrella.
I originally thought that Fang Xiānsheng would ask me to go swimming. And while I was worrying about what excuse to use to avoid swimming, I saw Fang Xiānsheng holding a shovel in one hand and a plastic box in the other. He excitedly asked me if I wanted to go digging for crabs together.
I agreed without thinking and followed Fang Xiānsheng step by step toward the hidden reef.
I found that Fang Xiānsheng had been very excited since arriving at the beach, so I asked him: “Do you like the sea very much?”
Fang Xiānsheng nodded and said, “The sea is very beautiful.”
I took a look at the sea area where water and sky meet and felt the same way.
Originally, I just sat on the rocks to enjoy the wind and looked at the sea, but Fang Xiānsheng was so happy digging, which aroused my curiosity, so in the end, I also became a crab digger.
Fang Xiānsheng was in the front using a small shovel to turn over rocks to find small crabs. I was holding a plastic box in the back and awaited eagerly to pack it.
I have to say that Fang Xiānsheng was really good at digging crabs. Others caught them one by one, but he picked them in handfuls. I was almost too busy behind him.
After catching crabs, Fang Xiānsheng took off his shoes rolled up his trousers, and went to fish again.
I was hesitating about whether to go over or not when Fang Xiānsheng’s voice came over: “Xiao Xiao, there are a lot of fish here! Come quickly.”
Without thinking, I grabbed a plastic box and ran over there.
It was a semi-enclosed pool of water, crystal clear, with schools of small fishes swimming in it. Fang Xiānsheng hooked his waist and touched the fish while playing in the water, and he actually caught them!
I felt my heart itch and couldn’t bear it, so I took off my shoes and jumped down.
There was a sound of water, and I almost cried.
Damn it! Forgot to roll up your trousers!
