“This Miserable and Delicate Young Man” -- As expected of my good brother! -- 6/12

Chapter 006 – As expected of my good brother!

Xie Chenyang didn’t reply.

Zhai Zhi didn’t try to criticize him anymore. “Are you still eating?”

Xie Chenyang shook his head sadly. It was all sprayed, so how could he still eat it?

Zhai Zhi lowered his head to clean up the dishes and took the table away.

Xie Chenyang: “My cell phone…”

Zhai Zhi interrupted, “Since you’re awake, let’s go back.”

Xie Chenyang: “?”

Zhai Zhi took out a mask. Lowering his head, he put it on Xie Chenyang and said softly, “There are reporters outside. Put this on and let’s go back first, hmm?”

“Reporters?”

“Cen He’s infidelity has been exposed.”

Xie Chenyang instantly stopped talking. He followed Zhai Zhi out of the hospital, and sure enough, saw many reporters waiting outside with cameras.

Zhai Zhi reached out and scooped him up into his arms. “Keep your head down. Don’t let them notice you.”

“Ohhh.” Xie Chenyang lowered his head and headed for the parking lot in Zhai Zhi’s arms. Once in the car, he took off his mask. “I parked your car at Old Yu’s place…”

“It’s fine.” Zhai Zhi sidled up to fasten his seatbelt. “We’ll pick it up another day.”

Xie Chenyang sighed again. [Zhai Zhi is a genuinely gentle and good person].

“?” System curiously asked, “Don’t you think he’s getting too intimate with you?”

[Intimate?] Xie Chenyang leaned back in his seat and perplexedly replied, [What’s so intimate about this? I have the impression that I have even more intimate close friends.]

System:“…” Well, it almost forgot; this host was a straight man. Wasn’t it just feeding, a hug, and helping fasten a seatbelt?  They were nothing. Heh.

After returning to the villa, Xie Chenyang reached out and touched Zhai Zhi’s thigh. Zhai Zhi froze in place, his eyes slightly widening. Xie Chenyang reached into his pants pocket, took out his cell phone, and tapped it twice. He walked towards the house. “Hey, why did this turn off? Is it dead?”

Zhai Zhi followed him. “I might have accidentally pressed it.”

“Oh, it turned on and still has power.”

The phone had just been turned on when Cen He called. It was unknown how long he’d been persistently calling. Xie Chenyang looked at the phone and floundered.

Zhai Zhi’s brows furrowed slightly. As he moved forward and reached out to take away his cell phone, Xie Chenyang subconsciously avoided him. Zhai Zhi looked at him and said in a cold voice, “He cheated on you and you still have feelings for him?”

Xie Chenyang couldn’t manage to look heartbroken, so he lowered his head and deliberately lowered his voice. “No…”

“Then block his number.”

“Why? It’s not me who did the wrong thing. Wouldn’t it look like I’m hiding if I blocked him? I want to make it clear to him.” As soon as Xie Chenyang’s words fell, the phone started ringing again.

Zhai Zhi pulled him to the sofa and sat down, staring at him. “Answer it. Put it on speakerphone and talk to him clearly.”

Another demanding speakerphone.

Xie Chenyang picked up the phone and turned on the speaker.

[System, do you want to do it?]

System: “Don’t want to. Zhai Zhi isn’t a movie star. Feel free to act as you please. What’s the worry?”

Cen He’s tired voice sounded, “Ah-Yang, I was wrong. Please come back home. I’ll wait for you.”

Xie Chenyang: “?” Was there something wrong with this person? After doing all those things, what made him think that Li Xuyang would still go back to him? Oh well, in the original plot, Li Xuyang would go back. But he, Xie Chenyang, won’t.

“Ah-Yang, since we’ve been together, you know in your heart how I treat you, don’t you? I love you, you have to see that. I couldn’t even bear to do anything to you in the end! Even when I was angry and wanted you to temporarily stay away for a while, I also gave you plenty of money…”

Xie Chenyang lowered his head and gripped the phone with such force that his veins popped up.

System: “Don’t be hasty. Let it simmer for a bit.”

“I was deceived. I love you. You saw  Weibo, right? It wasn’t my intention. I was trying to help my friend take care of her. I didn’t expect that woman to seduce me…”

“Shut up, trash,” Xie Chenyang said in disgust. “I’ve never picked up anything used by others since I was a kid.”

Cen He choked and stammered, “I was wrong, Ah-Yang. I miss you. Come back. Let’s talk face-to-face, yeah?”

Xie Chenyang: “Yeah.”

Cen He breathed a sigh of relief. “I made your favorite foods…”

Xie Chenyang hung up. He had just stood up when Zhai Zhi pressed him back onto the sofa. Zhai Zhi looked down at him. “That’s it? You’re going to go back after just a few perfunctory words?” Zhai Zhi’s pale face was colored with a hint of grimness.

Xie Chenyang patted his arm. “It’s not what you think. Let go first. I’ll just go and straighten him out.” Xie Chenyang understood. This was hating iron for not being steel1恨铁不成钢 is a Chinese idiom , which means to be dissatisfied with someone who has high expectations but has not made progress, and to be eager for him to change for the better. — Baidu! Not to mention Zhai Zhi–even when Xie Chenyang had read that Li Xuyang forgave Cen He in the original plot, he felt that it was ridiculous.

“You really want to go?”

“Yeah, I’ll be back soon. Remember to leave the door open.” Zhai Zhi released him. Xie Chenyang hurriedly got up and left.

Zhai Zhi looked at his back and the smoking addiction that he had resisted for a day kicked in. He lit up a cigarette and smiled to himself. Forget it. They hadn’t known each other for long, so why bother meddling?

Xie Chenyang went out the door and walked a few steps to the next house. As he rang the doorbell, he gave a mocking smile. “See, even as the homeowner, I still have to ring the doorbell when I go home.”

System: “Ahem, with that agreement, once you divorce Cen He, this house will be his.” Not just this house, but all your properties. Once you get divorced, you’re a pure outcast.

Xie Chenyang: “He wishes he could.”

Cen He opened the door for him, looking as gentle and affectionate as ever–as if he hadn’t done or said anything wrong before when he kicked him out of the house on that stormy night, as well as all those things and words that made one hate and loathe him. “Ah-Yang…” Cen He reached out and tried to take his hand.

Xie Chenyang avoided his hand and raised his chin. “Let’s go inside and talk.”

Cen He’s eyes changed slightly. This Li Xuyang…didn’t seem to be the same as before? Could it be that the stimulation was so fierce that the opposite reaction happened? Instead of going in the direction he expected, Li Xuyang ran into a path he hadn’t envisioned?

Xie Chenyang had already gone in while Cen He pondered how to stabilize him momentarily, before following him in as well. The matter between him and his lover would’ve been better if he could clear his name, but now that it was confirmed, he had to secure Li Xuyang first. Otherwise, not having a good reputation would be detrimental to his future plans. Not only was it detrimental, it might even result in the loss of all his efforts.

Feiyang had ultimately been run by Father Li and Big Brother Li for many years. If Cen He had the equity, ability, and reputation per his plan, in the event that the last person in the Li family was admitted to a sanatorium due to a mental breakdown, things would go perfectly; in the opposite direction, it’d be difficult for him to move an inch into Feiyang.

– Next Door –

Zhai Zhi took one puff after another, telling himself to not meddle in other people’s business, and if Xie Chenyang was bullied again later on, it would be his own fault. Before he had finished a single cigarette, he pressed it out in the ashtray. Admittedly, although he’d only known Xie Chenyang for a short period of time, he was just a little moved by him. In all these years, he had never met a person who made his heart flutter.

Even if it was just a little flutter… that was something to capture first!

He smoothed his bangs upwards and let out a low laugh. “Want to make up? Dream on!” He raced across the street at a quick pace, running right between the walls of the two courtyards, and with an assisted vault, he steadily stepped up onto the wall and leapt over.

—–

The dining table was indeed set with a full table of food. Xie Chenyang took a cursory glance: [Did he make this?]

System: “Had it delivered by his hotel.”

Xie Chenyang: [I knew it.]

With the previous phone recording incident, Cen He wasn’t sure if Xie Chenyang would have another recording device on him. The current development was different from what he thought. He needed to be more cautious.

He walked over to the dining table and intentionally tapped the tabletop with a band-aid wrapped finger. “Ah-Yang, come. These are all your favorites.”

Xie Chenyang was indifferent to Cen He’s faked injuries; his face was different from the previous delicate simplicity, but those eyes looked at him as if they contained hidden warmth. This made Cen He’s somewhat uncertain heart settle down a few points. He really did still like him.

Even at this point, his eyes still had affection for him.

“Ah-Yang, I know I’ve caused you harm, but I promise it won’t happen again. Please, let me spend the rest of my life making up for it. Let’s go back to the good old days, okay?”

Unlike his mesmerizing eyes, the moment Xie Chenyang opened his mouth, his tone was tinged with storminess and bitterness. “Go back to the old days? Are you implying that you can bring my mom, dad, and brother back to life?”

“Ah-Yang, the dead are gone.” Cen He’s face was tinged with pain and remorse. “For the remaining years to come, I will give you nothing but my undivided love…”

Xie Chenyang’s fists were slightly clenched, and he was about to throw a hefty punch, when a cold voice came from behind him.

“That won’t be necessary.” Zhai Zhi walked in and held Xie Chenyang’s hand, his eyes softening slightly. “Ah-Yang has me. That’s more than enough.”

Cen He’s face changed. “Ah-Yang, who is he?”

Xie Chenyang: [I understand]

System: “You finally realized it?”

[He’s trying to help me irritate Cen He. Worthy of being my good brother!]

System: “????”

[Does Cen He still think I love him to death even though he cheated on me? With Zhai Zhi’s help, letting Cen He, this douchebag, know that what he thought was in his hands was actually in someone else’s–wouldn’t that enrage him to his core?”]

System: “…Oh.”

[This is much more cost-effective than beating him up.]

System indifferently uttered, “Oh.”

Xie Chenyang didn’t respond, but he also didn’t shake off Zhai Zhi’s hand, as if it was a form of tacit admission.

A genuine twinkle appeared in Zhai Zhi’s eyes. “Mr. Cen would be better off taking care of your lover and illegitimate child first; naturally, Ah-Yang has me to take good care of him. Right, Ah-Yang?”

Xie Chenyang cooperated. “Mmm.”

Cen He couldn’t believe it. Li Xuyang’s love for him was something he never doubted. He had taken steps to weave a web of love, and had long since tangled Li Xuyang within it.

Even if Li Xuyang was not following the expected path under his coercion, he would never fall out of love with him. Most likely, Li Xuyang was deliberately trying to anger him. “Ah-Yang…don’t be like this.” Cen He opened his arms, looking pained. “I can’t live without you.”

“What does that have to do with me?” Xie Chenyang took Zhai Zhi’s hand in return and sneered. “You’ve known me for so long, you should know my habits. I throw away dirty things and don’t ever use them again, and the same goes for people as well.”

Cen He’s face instantly darkened. Dirty? Who was he calling dirty? He wanted to get angry. But no, if Li Xuyang left with that person or Cen He did something because of impulsiveness, it would not be easy to salvage the situation.

He still wanted this encounter with him to continue! After his momentary mistake, Li Xuyang would generously forgive him, and they continued to love each other for outsiders to see! He looked at him beseechingly. “Ah-Yang…”

Li Xuyang let go of Zhai Zhi’s hand and took long strides towards Cen He. Cen He’s face was delighted while Zhai Zhi’s smile suddenly disappeared.
