TSBFL Chapter 101
Chapter 101.1: 線索
[Clues]
Chen Xing slightly froze for a moment, obviously did not think that the answer was actually this, he felt that Gu Lang is really too smart. If it was him, he would never have guessed their whereabouts so quickly.
Chen Xing was only frustrated for a moment, then he remembered something as he looked at Gu Lang, “That’s right, Qiu Jiu and I suspect that this fire is man-made, but we don’t have any evidence.”
Chen Xing slightly upset, scratching his hair, unwilling to resign.
Gu Lang looked at Chen Xing’s appearance, gently touched his head as he comforted: “Don’t be anxious, now in the dark, even if there is evidence, we can’t see it. Now there are still some hours before dawn, why don’t we go back and recuperate first? When it’s already daytime, we will come back to look for evidence, therefore it’s easier for us to look for the evidence.”
Chen Xing heard Gu Lang’s suggestion, first hesitated for a moment, then looked around and found that except for the place where their lanterns shone, the other places were really dark. He immediately put down the idea of trying to find out the result now, and nodded his head towards Gu Lang, “Okay, we better go back now, and come back here again to look at it when it’s morning.”
Just the moment Chen Xing and the others re-locking the door to leave, they suddenly noticed that the touch on the door was not right, so Qiu Jiu took the lantern and shone it carefully, and found that between the uneven door crevices, there was a small piece of cloth hanging, it looked like it had been pulled strongly into the room, and the cloth had fallen off from it.
Chen Xing stared wide-eyed at the cloth, his heart thumping, feeling that this thing must be the key to the fire incident. He raised his eyes to meet Gu Lang’s eyes, only to see that Gu Lang also stared at him. He then raised his eyebrows when he came into contact with his eyes, afterwards he said, “I think, you might have found the important clues.”
Chen Xing immediately became happy. He wanted to look for any other evidence, the results of this completely raking clean around the door inside and outside yet he did not find any clues anymore. In the end, he was reluctantly taken back home to sleep by Gu Lang, ready to wait until dawn to come back to look for it again.
On the other hand, Chen Ling Er returned to the Chen family’s residence.
When entering through the back door, the old servant woman who guarded the door looked at this always crafty and unruly young lady, and was still a bit surprised that she returned home so late, “Young miss, this…?”
Chen Ling Er’s face was particularly ugly due to the offense of that group of hooligans just now, as well as the way they looked at her as if they had seen a ghost later on.
Hearing that granny’s inquiry, Chen Ling Er glared at her in dissatisfaction, and after seeing her shrink for a moment, she viciously said, “Do I need to tell (report to obtain approval) you whenever I go?”
“No, there is no need, Young Miss naturally can do whatever she wants.” Looking at Chen Ling’er’s ghost-like expression, the middle-aged (or older) woman servant shrunk her neck and didn’t dare to say another word.
Chen Ling Er snorted coldly at her, and led the little maid beside her straight into the room.
Waiting until Chen Ling Er passed from her sight, that old woman only lifted her head again, stared at her back and spat, then looked at the lower hem of her skirt. ”Eeeh’’, no matter how she saw it, there seemed to be a bit of burnt there.
The old servant woman hesitated for a moment, yet still decided to wait until Madam woke up in the daytime, and then tell Madam about it. After all, she was sent by Madam to watch over the young lady. She acted somewhat strange, naturally needed to be reported upwards.
When Chen Ling Er returned to the room, she immediately ordered the other maids who were still waiting to prepare and boil bath water. She then looked at this maid in front of her who followed her out, and commanded her: “You have to remember what I just said to you on the road, if you dare to say something that slips out of your mouth, you should know the consequences!”
The maid desperately nodded her head, swearing to the heavens that she would never reveal a word of what happened tonight to anyone else.
