TSBFL Chapter 108
Chapter 108.1: 判刑
[Pass a Sentence]
Hearing Master Chen’s question, Gu Lang turned his head calmly and looked at him with an indifferent gaze, and in his eyes, which were slightly light brown in color, there was a mockery toward Master Chen’s ignorance.
When he met those emotionless eyes, the words that Chen Lao Ye originally wanted to say were immediately stuck in his throat, and he could no longer say even half a sentence.
Gu Lang gently hooked up the corner of his lips, looking at the man in front of him, slowly said: “Why am I so sure,of course, because the real land deed is here with me.”
When he suddenly heard this news, Chen Lao Ye’s eyes widened violently, he took a few steps back and looked at Gu Lang and muttered, “Impossible, how could it be? When the Gu family was completely destroyed, how could there be something left?”
After saying that, as if he realized that he had said something wrong, Chen Lao Ye immediately closed his mouth.
Gu Lang raised his eyes and looked at the man in front of him who showed a surprised look, and continued to said indifferently: “Are you trying to say that at that time, our Gu family was robbed by bandits first, then the house was burned, and then was intruded by stragglers, and even if there are some valuable things it’s impossible to keep them until now?”
Chen Lao Ye heard him say this did not answer, but his flickering eyes betrayed his thoughts at the moment.
The surrounding people began to whisper, seeming to agree with Chen Lao Ye’s statement, when the Gu family died so tragically, the valuable things were robbed clean, how could there be anything left?
Gu Lang, however, as if he did not hear the surrounding discussion in general, just look indifferently staring at the Old Master Chen, looking at his standing difficult look, as if he recalled something. His tone of his voice calmly and leisurely said:
“That day my family suffered a catastrophe, my mother fled to the backyard with me, listening to the shouts in the front yard, knowing that they would not let her go, so she told me where the family hid the gold and silver, the land deed, so that I can rely on the capital to live in the future. I was lucky to survive, and after a few years, although it was difficult, I at least came back. Fortunately, the place where my parents hid things, although most of them were taken away, there is still a very small part left, and this land deed is one of them.”
After saying that, Gu Lang slowly took out three pieces of land deeds from his coat pocket, which had some damaged edges and seemed to be a bit old.
After seeing Gu Lang handing over the land deeds to the County Magistrate above, the crowd of onlookers burst into an uproar, and their expression toward Chen Lao Ye also became strange.
“I said when the Chen family was only a small family, how come all of a sudden they became so rich?”
“That is, I also watched their family joyfully receive those several shops. I was still wondering at that time how the Chen family had that large sum of money and they dared to spend it all for nothing.”
“This Chen family is really shameless, they and the Gu family are related by marriage; in-laws’ to come, they did not help but had this kind of drop stones on someone who has fallen into a well—hit a person when he’s down.”
Those voices are not big, Chen Lao Ye hears it, likened to fine needle, poke straight into his heart, one after another
When the county magistrate finished reading the three deeds, sure that the three deeds were true, he only then looked to the following standing people and said in low voice: “These three land deeds are true, Chen Lao Ye, do you have something to say now?”
Chen Lao Ye pursed his somewhat dry lips, opened his mouth, and could not make half a sound. He didn’t know what he should say now, could he still argue, or just admit that the shop was owned by Gu Lang and his family?
Gu Lang, however, did not intend to let him go, seeing that Chen Lao Ye stood there without saying anything, seems to not know what to say, but also seems to be calculating what he wants to say, so he simply asked Chen Lao Ye to open his mouth.
“At first, I intended to take this land deed to go to the Old Master Chen. I want to negotiate, see if you can return the shop, so that I can also have one more income.” Gu Lang said this in an extraordinarily frank manner, as if he didn’t think there was any problem at all, but the people beside him frowned because of his words.
“It’s just that, later on, I found out something that gave me great anxiety, so I didn’t say anything anymore, because compared to what my parents left me, it’s obviously more important to live a good life.”
