Chapter 71.2: 中毒

Chen Xing looked at the four officials, his heart thumped, and he had a not so good premonition in his heart.

 

When that Yamen official officials saw that someone had come out, one of them stepped forward and directly said, “Who is the one in charge of this place?”

 

Listening to ‘far from good’ dialogue, and then looking at the raging and rashing appearance of the officials, Chen Xing’s heart had a bad premonition that grew even stronger, he endured the fear and asked politely, “I wonder what these several officials have come here for?”

 

That official who asked the question saw that he did not answer the question yet asked him back, he immediately became angry, and just wanted to open his mouth to teach Chen Xing a few words, the official behind him pulled him and whispered a few words in his ear.

 

After briefly changing his face, the official raised his eyes to look at Chen Xing, as well as the two men following him, and directly said, “Someone has reported that someone died from eating the food here, and now that the person is already waiting in the Yamen, we need to bring the steward of your shop back to investigate.”

 

Chen Xing was stunned at once, he originally thought that Xiao Huang’s accident was already serious, he did not expect that there was even a human life involved. But he couldn’t figure out how this small restaurant of his could cause a person to die from eating here? 

 

Just as Chen Xing’s mind was in turmoil, Gu Lang, who had been staying quietly beside him, stood out and said towards the few officials in front of him, “I am the owner of this shop.”

 

“Then please come with us!” That official swept him up and down, seeing his pale face and weak appearance to even withstand a gust of wind, he couldn’t help but feel more than a little contempt, and said in a less than polite tone.

 

“Okay.”

 

Chen Xing immediately come back to his senses and looked at Gu Lang next to him, wanting to stop his move, not expecting that before he finished his words, Gu Lang pressed his lips, looked at him and coaxed him in a low voice, “It’s not appropriate for you to go to that kind of place as a Ger. Don’t worry, wait for me (at home) to come back.”

 

Chen Xing froze all of sudden, after coming here for so long, except for the occasional diners’ jokes, he was about to forget ‘this identity of his’. 

 

Gu Lang finished speaking with Chen Xing, seeing that he didn’t talk back again, he thought that he had listened, and glanced at Qiu Jiu next to him. The two of them exchanged a look. Qiu Jiu nodded, before he felt relieved to look towards the official not far away, and indifferently said, “Official, let’s go, ba.”

 

Seeing him at such a time, he still didn’t forget the wind, flowers, snow and the moon (to be sentimental), the official couldn’t help but snort, “Then let’s go!”

 

Gu Lang nodded slightly and walked amongst the officials, under the watchful eyes of the crowd, and then walked towards the Yamen in a single file. With that breezy demeanor, he did not look like he was being interrogated at all, but rather like he was being invited to drink tea.

 

Chen Xing looked at Gu Lang’s back as he left, and seemed to have just remembered, lifting his foot to follow him, but before he could move even half a step, he was pulled back by Qiu Jiu and the others behind him.

 

“Little Boss, there’s no use for you to go now, they won’t let us see the process now so they’re bringing the Big Boss for the interrogation.” Qiu Jiu looked at the anxious Chen Xing and couldn’t help but explain, “For today’s solution, we can only find out the situation as soon as possible in order to let Big Boss get away earlier.”

 

Hearing his words, Chen Xing felt that he had a point and forced himself to calm down, after thinking about it, he looked at the several people surrounding him and ordered them one by one, “Qiu Shi and Xiao Wang go out together to enquire about who actually died after eating something from our shop.”

　

Speaking here, Chen Xing paused for a moment and seemed to be somewhat torn, but quickly continued, “It would be best if we could inquire why they are suing us to the Yamen and know their demands.”

 

Chen Xing felt that there must not be any problems with the ingredients in his shop, now that two difficult things had happened one after another within a day, there was only the possibility that they had been framed by someone else, he just didn’t know who exactly had framed them so profusely.

 

Chen Xing had heard before that those shops that did well would attract malicious competition from others, but being well protected by his family he had never encountered it, and now that he had. He realized that people’s hearts were treacherous. Neither he nor Gu Lang had any background, and now that they were being targeted, or using such extreme methods, the forces behind them must not be small.

 

Chen Xing prepared for the worst, if he could not find a way to prove their innocence, even if he gave up everything he had now, he could not let anything happen to Gu Lang who followed them to Yamen.

 

Chen Xing once again took a deep breath and looked at the remaining people, “Auntie Zhao, Xiao Wang, Qiu Jiu, let’s go through the shop once again and make sure we find all that poisonous stuff.”

 

“Yes!” Several people answered in unison.

 

Chen Xing told them to check the kitchen first. He himself walked towards the entrance, ready to disperse the people watching.

 

Qiu Jiu looked at Chen Xing’s background, he was surprised that he had calmed down so quickly and admired him a bit because he had thought of a good response and steps ahead, Chen Xing’s behavior was much better than those little Gers who would only cry and wail when they encountered things.

 

Before stepping out of the doorway, Chen Xing took a deep breath, and immediately raised a smiling face to greet the pedestrians outside who had not dispersed because they were watching the liveliness, “Everyone today, this restaurant has something temporary to do, and will not be able to serve the guests, so please excuse me!”
