WTMC Chapter 9

Magpie Spirit

When the day was still dim, Bai Tang got up. The usually carefree person suddenly had heavy thoughts, and his sleep quality was always a bit lacking.

Bai Tang thought he had gotten up early enough, but when he opened the window, he saw Su Siyuan.

Su Siyuan was tending to the flowers in the garden. He lazily watered them with a hose, his eyes slightly closed in fatigue, gazing at a point in the void as if contemplating a question. The water sprinkled onto the ground, forming a small puddle.

Perhaps sensing Bai Tang’s gaze, Su Siyuan raised his head as if with a telepathic connection and looked at Bai Tang. A gentle smile appeared on his handsome face.

Bai Tang nodded calmly in acknowledgment, but the little green sprout on his head exposed his true feelings. The previously droopy sprout suddenly stood upright, looking exceptionally vibrant in the morning light.

Su Siyuan’s smile deepened. His amber eyes, under the sunlight, seemed to be filled with sparkling and mysterious things, twinkling and making people feel a bit flustered.

Bai Tang quickly pulled the curtain closed, went to the bedroom to freshen up, and then opened the door. He found a pair of white slippers placed at the entrance.

The size of the slippers was just right, and stepping on them felt like stepping on clouds. As for why this metaphor, it was because Bai Tang had stepped on clouds before.

Bai Tang had lost many memories, only retaining a few fragments of his past. He remembered a sky filled with soft clouds, and the sensation of walking barefoot was very comfortable. Hence, when he later transformed into a human, he forgot to create shoes.

Items like shoes and clothes needed careful consideration during the first transformation because once changed, they couldn’t be altered.

Wearing slippers for the first time, Bai Tang descended the stairs slowly. Upon reaching the hall, he saw Su Siyuan holding a porcelain bowl.

Su Siyuan placed the bowl on the dining table, and the clear water inside it gently swayed. “I didn’t know what you wanted to eat, so I prepared flower dew for you.”

As if an epiphany struck, Bai Tang suddenly understood the reason for Su Siyuan’s early rising. To collect that small amount of flower dew, the other person might have gone to the garden very early to gather it, remaining busy until now.

Holding the bowl, Bai Tang didn’t know what to say. He glanced at Su Siyuan, who seemed tired and struggled to keep his eyes open, making Bai Tang even more at a loss for words.

“Darling, don’t be easily moved like this!” The system sensed the situation wasn’t right and quickly shouted, “Take a deep breath! Okay, let’s drink some water to calm down.”

Su Siyuan quietly watched Bai Tang sipping water from the bowl. The sight of Bai Tang drinking was beautiful; his fingers were slender and delicate, resting gracefully on the porcelain bowl. The long, slender eyelashes half-covered his eyes, shading the pupils that reflected a watery, swaying, and glistening light, making it a captivating view.

Su Siyuan felt a bit despicable, showering affection on a bewildered little monster. Such a naive little creature, be kind to him and he will happily follow you.

He could have pretended to be energetic, said nothing, and simply provided breakfast. The little monster would have cheerfully eaten breakfast without any psychological burden.

However, he deliberately chose to show a bit of fatigue, revealing to the other how much effort he had put in. This made the other feel a bit indebted as they sipped the dew in a subdued mood.

Sloths, creatures usually too lazy to move, become particularly persistent and active when seeking a mate.

From the beginning, Su Siyuan had a secret idea: how to openly embrace the other, and then declare sovereignty to everyone. He moved toward his goal slowly, lazily, appearing harmless and gentle. The excessively gentle approach made the other completely unaware of any sense of danger.

Originally, everything was under control, and he should have been calmly boiling the frog in warm water1not literally. However, at this moment, when Su Siyuan saw the little grass on Bai Tang’s head drooping dejectedly, his heart suddenly skipped a beat, as if stung by some unknown emotion.

Su Siyuan became a bit uneasy.

He placed his hands on his knees, intending to say something when he noticed the young man in front of him lifting his head.

The young man’s hair was unkempt, flowing naturally and softly. After gulping down a sip of water, his delicate Adam’s apple trembled slightly, and his pale pink lips moved as he softly said, “It’s delicious.” He added in a hushed tone, “Thank you.”

As the young man spoke, his eyes remained moist, shimmering with a glistening watery light.

Soft, clear, and defenseless.

Su Siyuan’s heart was touched by a sense of tenderness, and his heart was filled with this faintly surging emotion.

It was troublesome.

Su Siyuan whispered, “You’re welcome.” Even though he had a basket full of sweet words, he didn’t feel like picking one out to deceive the other at the moment. Eating breakfast with a sense of guilt for doing something wrong, the fruit salad now tasted like wax to him.

Unaware of Su Siyuan’s complex thoughts, Bai Tang was currently discussing compensation plans with the system. “He gave you a bowl of dew, and you can give him a plate of leaves as a return gift. Just offer a reciprocal gesture. For something like flower dew, you can easily hire a human or another little monster to collect it for you. Get as much as you need.”

The system, speaking with the tone of an experienced person, said, “Maintain composure, stay calm, and don’t let momentary emotions blind your eyes.”

“Prosperity, democracy, civilization, harmony, my dear, is the flower dew tasty?” The system smoothly continued, “If it’s good, just say thank you.”

“Elegance, nobility, and aloofness. We immortals do not engage in romantic relationships with mortals.” The system earnestly babbled, “Do you still have that fluttering feeling now?”

Bai Tang: “…”

Grandpa Su led seven baby snails downstairs.

Bai Tang was currently sipping his bowl of water, his body mostly hidden behind the chair. From the perspective of the baby snails, all they could see was the swaying little green sprout on top of Bai Tang’s head.

Chi Yi led the way at the front, the others following in a queue down the stairs. Everyone raised their little hands together, and in unison, they cheerfully greeted, “Good morning, Tang Tang~”

Upon hearing this, Bai Tang turned around, greeted them with a smile, and said, “Good morning, everyone~”

Some people look very attractive when they don’t smile, but when they do… they look exceptionally charming!

One, two, three, four, five, six, and seven pairs of little antennas turned toward Bai Tang. As it is widely known, snail antennas serve as their eyes, and the snail babies now find themselves in a situation where their eyes are fixed.

Chi Lin2the seventh snail baby tripped over his left foot and stumbled over his right, making a chirping sound as he stepped into the air on the stairs. With a fierce momentum, he collided with Chi Chen3the sixth snail baby, who was daydreaming and unprepared, causing them to tumble down and crash into Chi Yue4the fifth snail baby

As a result, there was a rattling sound, and a chain reaction of collisions occurred on the stairs. Fortunately, snail babies can quickly retract into their shells in case of accidents. Thus, the colorful little balls rolled down the stairs one after another.

The red snail shell rolled several times, eventually coming to a slow stop near Bai Tang’s feet.

A small, white, and tender hand fumbled at the edge of the shell. Chi Yi, with stars in his eyes, crawled out in a dazed manner. When he lifted his head, he saw Bai Tang’s face.

An enlarged version of Bai Tang’s face.

Chi Yi slightly opened his small mouth, maintaining a surprised expression for three seconds. After those three seconds, Chi Yi swiftly retreated into his shell. Only two short legs remained outside as he tried to speedily escape the scene.

The visual effect was as if a round snail shell had spontaneously grown two small short legs, resembling chubby, lotus-root-like limbs.

The tiny legs swung at a rapid pace, joyfully scampering around. However, amid the joy, the tragic incident of tripping over the left foot and stumbling over the right foot happened again. Chi Yi fell to the ground entirely, and the two little legs, startled, retreated into the shell. Consequently, the snail shell began to roll again, revolving and rolling.

Revolve, roll, revolve.

It returned to Bai Tang’s feet.

Chi Yi, with eyes transformed into mosquito-like patterns, struggled to extend his small hand. Dizzy and disoriented, he crawled out again, locking eyes with Bai Tang.

The scene became somewhat awkward for a moment. Bai Tang tentatively waved his hand, saying, “…Hi?”

If one word must be used to describe Chi Yi’s current feelings, it would be embarrassed and indignant. He wished for the ground to split open, allowing him to disappear into the crevice, such was the depth of his embarrassment.

Unfortunately, Chi Yi, being a little one who hadn’t even attended kindergarten, didn’t understand how to express his current emotions with sophisticated four-character words. Holding back his tears, he choked and said, “Wuwuwu, Tang Tang…” Carrying his blushing snail shell on his back, he took a few steps, then hugged Bai Tang’s thigh, crying in despair, “Wuwuwu, you, you look so good.”

Bai Tang gently stroked Chi Yi’s little head in a dazed manner. Upon seeing this, the other snail babies hurriedly gathered around, each wanting Bai Tang to pat their heads.

So Bai Tang was busy patting heads here and there. After every little head had been patted, the snail babies reluctantly ran off to have their meals.

Even the seating arrangements during meals had their rules. The positions on both sides of Bai Tang were considered Supreme VIP, while the opposite side was High-level VIP. Everyone was vying for these three positions incessantly. At this moment, Grandpa Su took the initiative and smartly led Bai Tang away, allowing him to sit on the sofa. Now, there wasn’t a single VIP seat left.

Snail babies: “…”

Wow, we won’t cry QAQ

However, today was destined to be a day of tears for the snail babies because it was their first day of kindergarten. Grandpa Su would lead the seven snail babies, each equipped with a deluxe backpack, to school. Meanwhile, Su Siyuan would take Bai Tang to the nearby training class.

The kindergarten and training class of the Monsters couldn’t be seen by humans because they existed in another space, a space exclusive to monsters.

Entering the monster space from the human society, the easiest way to traverse space is by taking a ride.
