Zheng Nian sat in the passenger seat while his male companion started the car and slowly pulled out of the parking space, planning to move to another place to continue drinking with friends.

The car, originally smoothly sliding out, suddenly jolted violently, shocking both of them. Especially the male companion. When the car from the diagonal shot out and collided with their side, his mind went blank.

Luckily, they were still in the parking lot. So the speed wasn’t high and the collision wasn’t severe enough to trigger the airbags. However, the driver’s side door had slightly deformed. The male companion regained his senses. Burning with anger, he rolled down the window and cursed loudly, “Are you trying to get killed? Can’t you drive properly!”

A person got out of the opposite car. He walked briskly over, bypassed the front of the car, and headed straight to the passenger side. He swiftly opened the door, bent down to check inside.

He had a handsome face, exuded masculinity in every move. Suddenly being this close, even though Zheng Nian wasn’t inclined that way, he couldn’t help but feel a flutter.

The person asked, “Zheng Nian?”

Zheng Nian felt the person looked somewhat familiar. He asked curiously, “Do I know you?”

The situation was becoming eerie. The male companion, with an unfriendly tone, asked, “Hey buddy, what’s going on? You just crashed into us. What if someone got hurt?”

Ignoring him, the person reached over and unbuckled Zheng Nian’s seatbelt. He then forcefully dragged him out of the car. Zheng Nian was caught off guard and tumbled headfirst to the ground.

The male companion shouted, “What are you doing!”

The person bent down. He grabbed Zheng Nian by the collar, pulled him up, and smirked, “Buddy, cheating on girls for marriage is not right.”

With that, he punched Zheng Nian in the face. It sent him reeling. His tender flesh collided with his teeth, immediately filling his mouth with a metallic taste of blood.

His male companion unbuckled and crawled out of the passenger seat. But before he could see clearly what was happening, he was grabbed by the neck and shoved back into the car. The person forcefully closed the door and gave him a cold glare, “Mind your own business.”

His intimidating presence left the male companion too frightened to move.

Dazed, Zheng Nian struggled to crawl backward on the ground. He was dizzy and there was a ringing in his ears. “Who are you? Let’s talk… You know Zhou Xiang? Did Zhou Xiang send you?! No, wait. Is it Liu Mengjiao?!”

“I’m just here to talk.” The person casually lifted Zheng Nian up again, “Let’s have a nice chat. Such a nice girl, why would you do this to her? Huh?”

With that, he delivered another punch.

Zheng Nian was overwhelmed by the punches, spitting out a bloody tooth. He was both in pain and fear. The person stopped hitting him, watching as he knelt on the ground, and grabbed his hair to make him lift his head, “Don’t cheat girls into marriage and don’t make up lies. Understand?”

With that, he returned to his car. It was a BMW with a bumper almost falling off. He drove away in style.

Liu Mengjiao had returned for quite some time. But there was still no sign of Chen Qian. Liu Fan, faced with Liu Mengjiao and Zhou Chi displaying affection quietly beside him, idled around doing nothing.

Chen Qian pushed through the crowd and sat down beside him. He then roughly ruffled his hair.

Chen Qian sighed and looked at Liu Fan helplessly. His gaze carried a concern that said, ‘Without me, you’d drown even in a glass of water.’

Liu Mengjiao probably knew that Zheng Nian over there wouldn’t fare well. So she came over smilingly. “General Manager Chen, I toast to you.”

“Let’s all toast together.” Chen Qian raised his glass, and the other two followed suit. Liu Fan chuckled, “Here’s to your everlasting love.”

“Pah!” Liu Mengjiao said, “What are you saying? Your last sentence was so vulgar. Let me do it. Here’s to your hundred years of happiness. And General Manager Chen, may your career prosper.”

The four glasses clinked together with a light, crisp sound.

Liu Fan was also nervous. “Giving birth takes this long. And it should be very painful.”

Chen Qian, having stayed awake all night, was too tired to drive. He held Liu Fan’s hand as they walked slowly. Liu Fan, drowsy from excitement, yawned and let Chen Qian lead him, not paying attention to where they were going.

Chen Qian suggested, “If you like kids, we could consider adopting one. Li Yu and his husband have been discussing it. We could ask them about it.”

Liu Fan yawned again and replied, “Not for now.”

Both Liu Fan and Chen Qian knew that maybe they would consider it in the future, or maybe they wouldn’t. At the moment, they didn’t feel ready to raise a child. Zhao Rou and Sun Yiyi had encouraged them to adopt, offering to help raise the child. However, Liu Fan thought that would be irresponsible. They should wait until they are more prepared in terms of time, finances, and even their own beliefs and personalities.

Moreover, Sun Yiyi and Liu Xing weren’t in a hurry, as they had each other for companionship. Zhao Rou, on the other hand, had a strong desire to raise a child, especially since she and Chen Chong were still living apart.

Both of them were exhausted from worrying all night. Chen Qian, with his weary yet gentle demeanour, looked down at Liu Fan. Every time Chen Qian showed this slightly vulnerable side, it made Liu Fan fall even more in love with him.

Looking back, 17-year-old Liu Fan had watched Chen Qian strut across the basketball court and thought back then; I really like you.

Years have passed. They are no longer the naive teenagers they once were. They’ve had their share of sweetness, arguments, confusion, separations, hesitations, and disappointments. Yet, this feeling has never changed, continually growing amidst the tug-of-war of time.

Seeing Liu Fan staring at him, Chen Qian asked, “What’s up?”

Liu Fan smiled and said, “I really like you.”

Chen Qian was taken aback for a moment, then turned his head and dragged Liu Fan as they continued walking out of the hospital. “Why do you always use this trick? Aren’t you tired of it? Fine, fine. Let’s get whatever you want. I give up…”

The sky brightened, and the sunlight shone brightly. It was finally summer again.
