The Peril of the Koi Carp
Before his brain could process it, his hands swiftly covered his crotch.
He angrily shouted, “No peeking!”
The message “Affection -1” ominously appeared, deducting the last trace of goodwill. Xi Guican, accustomed to such deductions, remained emotionally unaffected.
If anything, he felt like crying.
But upon hearing the small and fierce voice and seeing the blush on his lover’s face, who was on the verge of tears, the Great White Tiger was overwhelmed with cuteness and obediently turned away.
Xi Guican heard the splashing of water, picturing his lover climbing out of the bathtub with his little legs. Wrapped in a bathrobe, his lover bypassed the Great White Tiger and climbed onto the small bed.
When he saw the fairy tale book on the bedside table, he instinctively looked back at the Great White Tiger.
Sitting squat on the floor, with his tiger ears drooping dejectedly like a large melancholic dog, the Great White Tiger’s eyes brightened when he saw He Ruge look back at him. In an instant, they filled with hope.
“Do you want to hear a bedtime story tonight?” he asked.
He Ruge crawled under the covers, reminding himself countless times, “Mr. Xi is not only my provider but also a big kitty.”
Eventually, he regained his composure. “Anything is fine.”
In his beast form, the Great White Tiger narrated a story to He Ruge, neatly tucking him in with his long tiger tail before quietly departing.
After the remarkably present Great White Tiger left the room, He Ruge peeked out from under the covers, looking somewhat bewildered at the ceiling. In the dimly lit room after turning off the lights, all He Ruge could see was a dense darkness.
In the quiet darkness, he suddenly thought of many things, questioning why he had yelled at Mr. Xi just moments ago.
Though his body was that of a child, his soul was that of an adult. He knew Mr. Xi was both his provider and an extraterrestrial being in the form of a tiger.
As an adult, he shouldn’t have provoked Mr. Xi.
Yet, just now, He Ruge had boldly given Mr. Xi a face full of disdain.
To He Ruge, this was an incredible thing. He had never been so rude to anyone before.
Why did he do that?
Just a moment ago, when he knew he was a fish and Mr. Xi was a tiger, he was terrified to death. It was an instinctive fear of natural enemies.
… In fact, subconsciously, he believed that Mr. Xi would not harm him. Perhaps Mr. Xi’s attitude had always been tolerant and peaceful.
He was indulged.
Children who were pampered by their parents would yell at them if things didn’t go their way. He Ruge had never understood those children, thinking they were delicate and overly privileged.
Was this the feeling of being indulged?
After venting his anger, once he realized his mistake, he felt regretful.
So, in his heart, he added a filter to the quarrelsome object, enhanced by Mr. Xi’s impeccable attitude.
Eventually, He Ruge’s guilt surged upward.
Curling up into a small ball, He Ruge lay quietly in bed, not knowing when he fell asleep. In his dreams, his affection for Mr. Xi slowly began to rise again… eventually settling at 80 points.
The next day, Mr. Xi had already prepared breakfast and greeted him calmly, while He Ruge felt somewhat embarrassed.
Soon, he reached the age to attend primary school, becoming an honorable first-grade student. Children’s worlds are quite superficial. They are especially tolerant, gentle, and friendly towards beautiful children.
There were always girls giving beautiful cardstock to He Ruge, decorated with fresh little flowers, along with handmade bracelets.
The boys in his class were also very friendly towards He Ruge. Even the rowdiest troublemakers in the class spoke to He Ruge with a softer voice.
He Ruge was used to all of this because he had received similar treatment before crossing over. He Ruge remembered that when he was in the orphanage before attending primary school, there were not many snacks. One of his classmates had a rich family, and every week, they would bring a big bag of snacks.
That stingy classmate kept the snacks to himself, unwilling to share with anyone, but he was willing to share half with He Ruge. He had coached that classmate with homework for a long time.
Back then, He Ruge wasn’t as good-looking as he was now. Before crossing over, He Ruge was just normally good-looking. If the highest score for looks was ten points, he would have scored nine points.
Since becoming a merman, his looks had exceeded ten points, becoming abnormally handsome.
He Ruge flipped through his elementary school textbooks in boredom, exerting all his effort to write crooked characters, while his mind was blank, pondering a plot.
In the story written by He Ruge, the male protagonist had a troublesome competitor. This alien antagonist hated the male protagonist so much that it made his teeth itch. He even chased the male protagonist to Earth to cause trouble.
The alien antagonist’s combat power was actually quite high, after all, “two fists are no match for four hands,” and the alien antagonist had eight tentacles!
Each tentacle held a weapon, effectively making it a mobile artillery.
The alien antagonist couldn’t beat the male protagonist, but upon seeing how much the male protagonist doted on the female protagonist, this Earthling pet, he suddenly had a brilliant idea—
It’s said that when you beat a dog, you should look at the owner.
So, when he beat the female protagonist, it was equivalent to a slap in the face to the male protagonist. So when the male protagonist wasn’t paying attention, this alien antagonist kidnapped the female protagonist back to his home planet.
The alien antagonist had thought up “a hundred ways for an Earthling to die” before capturing the female protagonist. Things like dismemberment were just the beginning.
The antagonist listed methods such as feeding insects to the female protagonist and allowing the insects to burst out of her body—a grotesque way to die.
But on the first day of capturing the female protagonist, the antagonist hesitated upon seeing her fair and tender appearance. The antagonist had never kept a pet before and always found them too hairy, difficult to care for, useless, and wasteful of food.
Especially Earthlings, whose temperatures were too high, leading to overheating, and too low, leading to freezing, would starve to death within a week or fall into depression if their mood was too low—a super sensitive and delicate pet. The antagonist had no fondness for them at all.
On his home planet, some aliens captured humans from Earth, kept them as pets, but many of these captive Earthlings developed various psychological illnesses and physical ailments due to being away from their home planet.
The male protagonist, the tentacle monster, came to Earth specifically to keep a pet for the pet’s physical health, referred to as a “human slave.”
The antagonist had never thought that one day he would want to keep an Earthling as a pet. But now he was hooked.
Despite being hooked, he still remembered his goal of “abusing the pet”!
So, the evil antagonist shaved the female protagonist’s head completely, even shaving off her eyebrows, and sent a video of cutting her hair to the male protagonist, sneering at him, “If you don’t measure up next time, I won’t just cut her hair.”
With her head shaved bald, the female protagonist nearly cried herself unconscious.
Throughout the video of “abusing the pet,” the female protagonist’s crying never stopped, heart-wrenching, with tears streaming down her face. This made the antagonist begin to wonder if cutting Earthlings’ hair hurt.
Female protagonist: “Damn you! Damn you! Damn you! Don’t cut my hair!!! Ahhhh, just kill me!!!”
Antagonist: “Earthlings are indeed very fragile. Ha, only scum like the male protagonist would enjoy keeping Earthlings as pets.”
Every day, the antagonist would “abuse” the female protagonist, but never caused substantial harm because he himself had become an Earthling slave, though he was unaware of it.
After each “abusive” session, the antagonist would “compensate” the female protagonist and treat her “well.”
While treating her well, he still thought, I just need to toughen up this delicate Earthling to torment her better…
It could be said that he was extremely hypocritical.
However, the female protagonist never believed that the antagonist treated her well. Because the way the antagonist treated her well was—
Giving her delicious food, like “running root meat,” which was raw meat that would jump on its own, and “pet joy brush ,” a wooden comb-like massage brush that he wanted to smack on her face.
All of this made the female protagonist feel like she would rather be dead than alive and began to desperately miss the male protagonist.
Comparison produces beauty. Under the shadow of the antagonist, the female protagonist overcame her fear of the tentacle monster for the first time. In her memories, every tentacle of the male protagonist shone with holy light.
The significance of this plotline was that the female protagonist no longer despises the male protagonist’s prototype.
Although the male protagonist finally saved the female protagonist, the female protagonist still suffered a lot. When He Ruge wrote about the female protagonist’s suffering, he was still quite happy.
When readers commented in the comments section that He Ruge was a wicked stepmother while laughing, He Ruge could still argue calmly, “I’m not—I’m not saying nonsense.”
—Clearly, I’m the wicked stepfather:)
However, now that he has crossed over, he has taken on a role similar to that of the female protagonist. When He Ruge recalled the original bizarre plot, he felt completely uncomfortable.
The time the antagonist appeared in the book was almost near.
He Ruge silently raised his head and looked around. The classroom was filled with chattering little turnips, and no one could understand He Ruge’s worries.
The antagonist kidnapped the female protagonist on her way home from school, so He Ruge specifically asked Mr. Xi to pick him up at the classroom door.
Mr. Xi had always been completely accommodating to him, and upon hearing this request, his eyes revealed an indulgent expression of “Oh, I really can’t help you.”
He Ruge: “…”
I can only pretend to be a little sticky rice cake.
Even though he did this, He Ruge still felt uneasy. Especially today, his right eyelid had been twitching.
It’s said that a twitching left eye means money, while a twitching right eye means disaster. He Ruge had a vague sense of impending doom.
He took out his phone from his Thomas the Tank Engine backpack and sent a text message to Mr. Xi, asking him to come to the classroom early today to pick him up.
“I’ll give you a chocolate bar. Can you let me play with my phone?”
Seeing He Ruge’s little actions, his desk mate couldn’t help but ask, handing He Ruge a chocolate bar.
The desire in the child’s eyes was about to overflow. He Ruge always doted on children, so he reached out and patted the desk mate’s head.
“Keep the chocolate for yourself, and you can only play with the phone for a while. I’m going to the bathroom now. When I come back, you have to put away the phone. Oh, be careful not to get caught by the teacher.”
The desk mate nodded like a little chick pecking, gratefully saying, “Ruge, you’re so nice.”
He Ruge got up and went to the bathroom.
When he got to the bathroom, he was just about to pull down his pants when suddenly a cold, sinister voice echoed in the empty bathroom, “You’re the pet raised by Xi Guican, aren’t you?”
There was a thick malice in the tone.
He Ruge: “…”
Plot, why aren’t you playing by the rules?
Taotie: Didn’t expect that, did you? I’m also making a cameo.
