I’m super expensive
In order to film the video of spoiling a pet, the camera equipment frequently appeared around He Ruge. He Ruge had grown accustomed to the presence of this small machine. After finishing his song, he looked towards Taotie.
“Give me a smile,” the antagonist requested.
He Ruge grinned awkwardly, forcing a smile that he felt must have seemed insincere. However, to his surprise, the intellectually challenged antagonist found it unexpectedly amusing, causing the scar on his face to shift as he laughed.
His palm rested on the cool glass of the water tank, and icy blue alien characters flashed on the glass. The man casually tapped a few times, and a small opening appeared above the tank. Through this hole, Taotie handed over the nutrient solution to He Ruge.
The little mermaid took the nutrient solution, cautiously curling into a small ball. He deliberately turned away from Taotie to avoid facing him directly.
His jet-black long hair cascaded like a waterfall down the back of the little mermaid. Taotie gazed at the waist-length black hair, tempted to touch it. He raised his hand, but his fingers met the hard glass.
Perhaps fragile and beautiful things always evoke desire.
The sound of his nails tapping on the glass startled the little mermaid, who turned back like a startled small beast. If this weren’t a fish but a furry little creature, its current appearance would be akin to all its fur standing on end.
His lips involuntarily curled upwards, then he forced them back down. Taotie withdrew his hand, leaving with the camera equipment from this treasure trove.
This was the treasure trove of the “Cleaners”. If all the boxes here were opened, the radiance of the jewels inside would dispel the darkness of the room.
Taotie’s current identity was that of the newly appointed leader of the Cleaners organization, distinguished from the former head of the Star Thief gang by his politeness, elegance, and brutal nature.
This new leader was also one of his hosts.
As soon as Taotie left the room, his subordinates in the Star Thief gang immediately surrounded him. His second-in-command, who was blind in one eye, said, “Boss, the auction can be held now. Except for the electric wolf to the west, everyone else has been invited.”
Taotie raised an eyebrow, sending the video just filmed by the camera equipment to another person.
He chuckled softly, “That wolf will come.”
Although his second-in-command didn’t understand, he dared not ask further. Their boss looked like a refined nobleman but had an unpredictable temperament, killing without batting an eye.
Every famous star thief had their own code name, and their boss’s code name was “Throat Slitter”.
Anyone slain by Throat Slitter ended up with a deathly expression, with their heads severed and eyes full of resentment.
However, the second-in-command was a bit puzzled.
Why did their boss suddenly decide to hold an underground auction?
Did they recently acquire some loot?
He Ruge, now a war trophy, blew bubbles in the water tank. He had already finished drinking the nutrient solution, which he used to store pearls. He stuffed all the pearls at the bottom of the water tank into an empty bottle, then cradled the pearl bottle carefully in his palm, examining it closely.
Look at the shape and color of this pearl; they’re absolutely perfect.
He Ruge felt like he had discovered a path to wealth and prosperity. If he could cry out pearls a few more times, he would never have to worry about food or drink again in his life.
However, he also felt that he might not be able to cry pearls every time.
He Ruge recalled the process of tears turning into pearls and speculated that crying pearls this time was related to the large amount of spirit stones forcibly fed to him by the antagonist.
With too much spiritual energy in his body, it couldn’t be converted momentarily and was excreted in the form of pearls.
As he pondered how to carry the pearl bottle out, He Ruge worriedly shook his head. He couldn’t keep holding it in his hand forever, especially now that he was a mermaid with no clothes and no pockets.
How could he hide the pearls in this situation?
A warrior hiding poison inside his body came to mind. He Ruge shook his head, quickly dispelling this terrifying thought.
While he was contemplating how to hide the pearls, the pitch-black water tank suddenly swayed as if being pushed. He Ruge nervously peered around, but all he saw was darkness. He Ruge had an illusion that he was now immersed in ink, observed silently by numerous octopuses.
What He Ruge didn’t know was that the water tank had now switched to one-way glass, allowing those outside to see inside, while he, the mermaid who only existed in legends, had become the highlight of this underground auction.
On the seats of the underground auction hall, all the discussions were related to the “mermaid”.
No one cared about the other auction items, even if they were rare jewels, weapons, medicinal herbs, or even slaves.
When the final auction item appeared, the atmosphere in the entire hall reached its climax.
Countless desires surged at the auction, and Taotie leisurely devoured all the negative emotions: greed, lust, and violence…
These foods provided some relief to his constantly clamoring hunger, and Taotie should have felt pleased about these hard-earned provisions. However, for some unknown reason, as more and more spectators in the darkness turned their piercing gazes towards his little mermaid, an unnamed rage surged within him.
It burned fiercely in his esophagus.
These were his spoils of war, and no one could lay a finger on his belongings.
The man with a scar on his face closed the water tank’s one-way mode, turning the glass black again. The beautiful little mermaid disappeared from view, leaving the square-like water tank devoid of any aesthetic appeal.
“Starting bid, 10,000,000 star coins, with increments of no less than 100,000 star coins each time,” the man’s voice drowned out the discontented murmurs from the audience on the podium.
He Ruge had no idea what was happening outside. Taotie muted the water tank, turning He Ruge, trapped inside, into a pitiful creature who could neither see nor hear anything. If he knew he was being priced so high, he might have felt a tinge of pride amidst his heartache.
Unfortunately, He Ruge heard nothing. He gripped the bottle of pearls tightly, feeling uneasy as he curled up like a fish cake.
His eyelids kept twitching; this time, both his left and right eyelids twitched together, signifying both fortune and misfortune.
He Ruge remained in the water tank for a long time, or perhaps not so long; the environment inside the tank blurred his sense of time. Just as He Ruge was about to drift off to sleep, a tremendous noise suddenly reverberated through, sounding like the frenzied screams of fans at a concert.
He Ruge indeed heard background music. It had an eerie and terrifying melody, the kind that could make timid people cry if they heard it in the middle of the night.
The darkness on the water tank glass receded like a tide, and He Ruge, curled up inside, could finally see the outside environment.
Yet he would rather not have seen anything at all.
The gazes of everyone on the podium were uniformly terrifying and frenzied, as if they were beasts draped in human skin, ready to rush onto the stage and disembowel He Ruge, devouring him whole.
He Ruge: “…”
He felt like he had stumbled into some kind of pyramid scheme meeting.
Scary.
