Chapter 83- Bald Tiger Falls off the horse

When Mao Zixie saw Xi Guican, he smiled and said, “General Xi, you look very well…”

Before he could finish his words, when his gaze swept to He Ruge behind Xi Guican, his mouth opened, but he completely forgot what he was about to say next.

The appearance of He Ruge, which was very similar to Mao Zhengyong’s, made Mao Zixie feel a familiarity as if meeting an old friend.

“Hello, I am a friend of Guican, my name is He Ruge.”

Xi Guican was not very happy about He Ruge being stared at like this. He walked in front of He Ruge, his tall figure covering He Ruge tightly, as if a dragon guarding his treasure, deterring all prying eyes.

Under the sharp blue eyes, Mao Zixie shivered. He realized that his previous loss of composure had displeased the man in front of him.

Quickly, he said, “To avoid delaying General Xi’s time, let’s proceed with the routine check-up quickly.”

The place for the routine check-up was a small family hospital on the first floor, equipped with medical devices brought from the research institute, related to the spiritual mind. Xi Guican only needed to lie in it for a dozen minutes to obtain detailed body data.

“Do not ask He Ruge any questions.”

Before lying down in the device, Xi Guican warned Mao Zixie with a cold face.

Mao Zixie, whose thoughts were seen through, could only nod in agreement. Under such oppressive pressure, he suspected that if he said something wrong, his fate would be extremely miserable.

From this perspective, He Ruge should mean more to Xi Guican than just a friend.

Even if they were friends, He Ruge’s significance in Xi Guican’s heart was extraordinary.

Because in all these years, Mao Zixie had never heard of any friends Xi Guican had. Countless people in the entire federation wanted to be friends with Xi Guican, but Xi Guican had always been a lone star, a solitary figure.

This man was indomitable, needing no friends or companions. Even during the most severe illness, no one could penetrate his heart. He was like a wild beast, preferring to lick his wounds alone in a corner after being injured, rather than exposing his vulnerability to others.

No, perhaps Mr. He approached him when Xi Guican was at his most vulnerable.

Mao Zixie dared not look at the man beside him. That brief glance just now had left an indelible impression on his mind. If it was such a person, perhaps he could understand General Xi. There should be no one in the world who could resist such beauty, let alone that voice as melodious as heavenly music.

Fortunately, he was no longer young, otherwise, he would truly be unable to forget and remain unmarried for life.

“Doctor Mao, I have something to ask you.”

He Ruge said to Mao Zixie, who seemed to be lost in thought. He always felt that Doctor Mao was intimidated by General Xi’s terrifying gaze.

“You may ask.”

The other person suddenly raised his head, but when he saw him, he quickly lowered it again, stuttering, “I will do my best to answer.”

“What illness does Guican have, and is it serious?”

He Ruge asked the question that concerned him the most now.

Mao Zixie was somewhat surprised. “Huh? I thought you knew about General Xi’s condition… General Xi suffers from a rare condition called Vortex Mental Devouring Syndrome, which not only damages the spiritual mind but also affects the body.”

“It’s because of this illness that General Xi can no longer pilot mechas and has been forced to retire from the star wars to recuperate until now.”

He Ruge was completely stunned. He knew that Xi Guican might downplay bad news, but he didn’t expect Xi Guican to conceal it to this extent. A disease serious enough to prevent him from piloting mechas anymore was casually referred to by Xi Guican as a minor illness.

Already cured, no problems at all.

The other party talked about it so lightly, and he really thought it was just a minor illness.

“Has he already recovered from the illness?” He Ruge’s voice was somewhat dry.

“Recovered? When did he recover?”

Mao Zixie exclaimed, “The last time I came to examine General Xi, although it wasn’t a terminal illness, it had nothing to do with recovery. General Xi’s condition has been worsening over the past two years. This illness is closely related to the patient’s mood, so extreme emotions should be avoided. However, General Xi’s mental state has always been poor. In fact, I have advised General Xi to see a psychologist before, but General Xi refused.”

“Mr. He, if you are willing, I hope you can persuade General Xi to see a psychologist and not to shy away from medical treatment.”

Was all the talk about recovery just a lie?

He Ruge recalled Xi Guican’s determined expression last night. He didn’t believe Xi Guican would lie to him about something like this. Based on his understanding of Xi Guican, if Xi Guican was really beyond cure, he would definitely change the subject and not mention being ill at all.

In this way, there was only one possibility, that Xi Guican had indeed recovered, but Mao Zixie didn’t know.

A disease that had been deteriorating over the past two years, suddenly recovering overnight could only be because of that mysterious game.

After understanding this, He Ruge breathed a sigh of relief.

“Okay, I will persuade him. By the way, Doctor Mao, what kind of medicinal bath is Guican taking?”

Given Xi Guican’s habit of avoiding serious matters, He Ruge now no longer believed that the medicinal bath was simply for “strengthening the body”. His intuition told him that the medicinal bath must be more than just that.

“Oh, you’re talking about the hair growth bath, right? That’s just a simple medicinal bath to promote hair growth.”

Mao Zixie spilled everything, “Because of suffering from Vortex Mental Devouring Syndrome, as long as General Xi’s emotions are agitated, he will shed hair and cough up blood. So I prescribed him a formula for replenishing blood and promoting hair growth. But it seems that General Xi is not satisfied with the effect of the hair growth bath. He asked me to introduce him to a hair transplant doctor last night.”

He Ruge: “???”

What hair growth bath?

What hair transplant?

Why couldn’t he understand anything?

Mao Zixie dared not look directly at He Ruge. He kept his head down while speaking, not seeing He Ruge’s shocked expression. “If you have the chance, please also persuade General Xi not to undergo hair transplant surgery.”

“Even the best hair transplant surgery will result in all transplanted hair falling out within two months. These artificial hairs not only fall out themselves but also take away some of the real hair when they fall out.”

He sighed deeply as he spoke, “I know some patients who were not particularly bald originally, but for various reasons went for hair transplants. After the surgery, they had a lot of hair, but after two months, when all the artificial hair fell out, they were greatly stimulated.

They quickly went for hair transplant surgery again.

After.

Repeated.

Trials.

Like.

This.

Mao Zixie had no idea what kind of hornet’s nest he had stirred up. He thought that since He Ruge was so important to General Xi, he must treat He Ruge well. Whatever He Ruge asked, he would answer.

After all, these were not big issues.

He wanted to leave a good impression on He Ruge. This would not only alleviate his relationship with General Xi, but also prepare for future involvement of He Ruge in the research of the spiritual mind.

It was truly killing two birds with one stone.

He Ruge’s mind was somewhat in a daze. Even when he crossed over yesterday, he didn’t feel as lost and confused as he did now. How could it be that he suddenly became bald out of nowhere, without any signs beforehand?

Clearly, the little white tiger in the game had lush fur. Could he curse this fake game for deceiving emotions?

No, I can’t be so shallow.

He Ruge couldn’t help but ponder a serious question…

What is love?

When a lover grows old and loses their looks, would he still love them as much as before?

But aging and balding were completely different things.

If he grew old, he could still be a handsome old man with charisma. But if he went bald prematurely…

No, Xi Guican’s hair was still quite dense. Could it be—

Was Xi Guican wearing a wig?!

If he hadn’t just combed Xi Guican’s hair this morning and felt his dense hair with his own hands, He Ruge would have really suspected that he was wearing a wig.

Although a buzz cut and baldness were considered the measure of a man’s looks, actively going bald and passively becoming bald were completely different.

It was like breaking up; breaking up with someone and being broken up with were two different things.

Moreover, he had seen the fluffy head of the big white tiger with his own eyes, and it wasn’t bald at all.

“…Where is Guican bald?” He Ruge asked with difficulty.

“In the animal form, it’s everywhere except the head.”

Mao Zixie said politely, “I have pictures, would you like to see?”

He Ruge fell silent, silent for a long time, and said, “Yes.”

The photos in Mao Zixie’s hands were selfies that Xi Guican had sent to him initially. It was on a dark night with a strong wind, when the bald big white tiger shed a bathtub full of fur, white fur floating on the water surface, with pink meat pads scattered among them.

Even if Xi Guican was unwilling to face reality, he had to face the fact that he was bald.

He took a hopeless photo of his baldness and sent it to Mao Zixie, asking if he could cure baldness.

At this moment, He Ruge was looking at the most miserable photo of Xi Guican’s baldness. He sucked in a cold breath. All the fluffy big white tigers in his memory were replaced by this bald white tiger.

Just by looking at it, He Ruge couldn’t forget Xi Guican’s bald face anymore.

Perhaps it was because the cute filter was too heavy, coupled with the fact that his head wasn’t bald yet, only his body was quite bald. He Ruge’s predominant emotion at this moment was pity.

This was what they called parents not finding their children ugly.

Even if his lovely child went bald, what could he do?

A bald furball was still very cute.

“Send me this photo.”

He Ruge had seen various versions of Xi Guican, but he had never seen a bald version.

This commemorative photo must be preserved.

“Okay, can I add you as a star network friend?”

When Xi Guican came out of the room, he bathed once again in the paternal gaze of He Ruge. Xi Guican faintly felt that something was wrong, but he didn’t know what it was.

Protecting the precarious face of his bald furball, the old father, He Ruge, said, “Guican, you had such a serious illness, but you didn’t tell me.”

Xi Guican quickly said, “I’m fine now, right?”

He gestured to Mao Zixie with his eyes.

Mao Zixie, holding the medical report, exclaimed ecstatically, “This is simply a miracle!”

Although he wanted to conduct experiments on Xi Guican, Mao Zixie knew he would be refused. After congratulating Xi Guican, he hurriedly left to inform the Federation.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly. At least for the bald tiger now, ignorance was indeed bliss.

Little Theater:

Bigmouthed Mao Zixie: General Xi is bald, he’s currently not only soaking in a hair growth bath but also preparing to get a hair transplant.

He Ruge: ???

Xi Guican, who was completely unaware: I’m going to have fur soon, roaaar!
