WTDWPK Chapter 2

Uncovering the Hidden Identity

Song Yu was so frustrated he almost cried. Why was it that every time he was in an embarrassing situation, it had to be in front of this nemesis!

This nemesis of his, looking all dashing, was dressed in custom-tailored shirt and trousers, with every step drawing attention to his long, straight legs. His expression was one of genuine concern, and upon closer inspection, there was even a hint of sadness?

Song Yu couldn’t help but mentally mock him. “I’m just stuck; it’s not like I’ve died. Why are you so sad? Fake, ugh!”

The firefighters were two young men who couldn’t help but laugh at Song Yu’s predicament. They first assessed the situation, then turned to Fu Yuqian and said, “Mr. Fu, your cat is stuck at the waist, which is a relatively slim area. We can’t pull him out by force, so we’ll have to cut the bars. Is that okay?”

“Of course,” Fu Yuqian said, squatting down to gently stroke Song Yu’s head. His deep, magnetic voice, often praised by fans, was soothing as he comforted, “Yi Yi, don’t be afraid. The firefighters will get you out soon.” He even carefully covered Song Yu’s ears with his hands.

Song Yu’s ears tingled with a sensitive itch, and he reflexively twitched them. He wasn’t moved by the comfort but instead turned his head and bit down on the web of Fu Yuqian’s hand. “I’ll make you bleed!”

Fu Yuqian, however, didn’t flinch at all and let Song Yu bite him. “Yi Yi, be patient. It’ll be over soon.”

The two girls nearby were nearly swooning at the sight of the gentle and handsome Fu Yuqian. They couldn’t stop taking photos and videos with their phones.

Song Yu, with his teeth on Fu Yuqian’s hand, didn’t actually bite down hard. Although he disliked this nemesis, it wasn’t Fu Yuqian’s fault that he was in this situation. Besides, if he drew blood, they’d have to get a rabies shot, and needles… they hurt. So, he let go.

The firefighters were very skilled, experienced in rescuing trapped pets. They carefully cut a gap in the bars, then lifted Song Yu out, finally freeing him.

“Meow~” *Thank you, sorry for the trouble.*

Song Yu rubbed his head against the firefighter’s hand, squinting his round cat eyes. Seizing the moment, he leaped down from the firefighter’s arms—only to flop flat on all fours, turning into a pancake-like cat. His plump body even bounced slightly.

The young firefighter was startled and quickly apologized, “I’m so sorry! I didn’t hold you steady!”

Fu Yuqian had already bent down to pick up the dazed Song Yu, soothingly stroking his head. He said gently, “It’s okay, Yi Yi was just being mischievous. Thank you for rescuing him and taking time out of your day. I’ll be making a donation in Yi Yi’s name for some firefighting equipment soon; please accept it.”

The firefighters quickly waved off the offer. “No need to be so polite, Mr. Fu, it’s our job. You should take your cat for a check-up, though. That fall wasn’t light, and we don’t know if his internal organs were injured while he was stuck in the bars. It’s best to have everything checked out.”

“I will. Thanks again,” Fu Yuqian replied.

After the firefighters left, Fu Yuqian, still holding a rather upset Song Yu, drove to the pet hospital they frequented.

In the car, Fu Yuqian’s assistant, Lele, was scrolling through Weibo and saw that the hashtag #FuYuqian’sOrangeCatStuckInBars had shot up to the second spot on the trending list, accompanied by a laughing emoji.

It was right behind the hashtag #SongYuInComaAfterCarAccident.

She was extremely anxious and said to Fu Yuqian, “Brother Qian, Yi Yi has made it onto the trending list, along with Song Yu. I’ll contact PR right away to take it down.”

Fu Yuqian responded calmly.

But it was already too late.

Song Yu’s distraught fans, who already didn’t like Fu Yuqian, were now even angrier. With Song Yu in critical condition after the car accident, they accused Fu Yuqian of exploiting the situation with his cat for publicity. *Is he even human?*

The extreme grief found its outlet in a flood of comments on Fu Yuqian’s latest Weibo post.

“How’s that RX bun, you trash!”

“Buying a trending topic at a time like this? Disgusting!”

“Do you think the cat didn’t know it couldn’t get through the bars? Was this staged? Think about it.”

Naturally, Fu Yuqian’s fans weren’t going to take this lying down. They quickly organized a counterattack, and the two fanbases clashed fiercely. The battle spilled over to other platforms, leaving onlookers bewildered and other celebrities scrambling to delay their own trending topics.

“Brother Qian, I’ve contacted the company, but Song Yu’s fans are too aggressive to control. Brother Yin is still abroad; he said he’ll return as soon as possible,” Lele said anxiously, almost in a panic. “What should we do?”

The dazed Song Yu, lying lazily in Fu Yuqian’s arms while waiting in line for a check-up, rolled over and grinned with satisfaction, his tail flicking back and forth. “Meow~” *Serves you right!*

“Don’t bother with it. Let them vent.” As soon as Fu Yuqian saw Song Yu turn over, he reached out and pressed down on his soft, fluffy belly. The sensation was so satisfying that he couldn’t resist giving it a little squeeze. Song Yu immediately extended his paw to push his hand away. “Get your hand off, you pervert! Stop taking advantage of me, shameless!”

When Fu Yuqian’s hand was pushed away, he seized the opportunity to grab Song Yu’s white paw and play with his soft paw pads. Annoyed, Song Yu went straight for a bite, and only then did Fu Yuqian let go.

Song Yu was still thinking about how to escape. He had to see his own body with his own eyes.

But Fu Yuqian, that jerk, was holding him too tightly, giving him no chance to run.

Besides, with his current chubby physique, there was no way he could outrun Fu Yuqian. After all, this guy had once run a marathon and even came in third.

The fact that Fu Yuqian had run a marathon had also made it to the trending topics before, with the hashtag #FuYuqianStamina#. The fans’ comments were quite bold, bordering on scandalous.

Song Yu felt depressed again. While he had muscles, his stamina was terrible. Running three kilometers was already enough to kill him.

“Brother Qian, Song Yu’s fans are going too far with their insults. If we do nothing, your fans will be upset.” Lele was a bit confused.

Fu Yuqian lowered his eyes, his long, thick eyelashes hiding the emotions in them. Lele couldn’t see it, but Song Yu, lying on his back, could see it clearly—there was sadness in his eyes.

And even from this unflattering angle, his features were still strikingly handsome.

He had about a tenth of Song Yu’s own charm.

His nose was straight and prominent, but not overly large, with deep-set eyes and brown irises. His long, thick, slightly curled eyelashes gave the impression of naturally applied eyeliner, which had captivated countless female fans. Song Yu had often seen articles saying that the only one who could rival Fu Yuqian’s looks was Song Yu himself.

But what was he sad about? Could it be because of him?

“He’s always been protective of his fans. So, if he were conscious right now, he’d definitely be worried about their emotions. Letting them vent their grief and distract themselves isn’t a bad thing.” Fu Yuqian’s voice was deep. “As for our side, just book me a few more appearances and events later to make it up.”

Hearing this, Song Yu’s swishing tail suddenly stiffened.

He widened his round cat eyes, staring at Fu Yuqian as if seeing him for the first time.

Fu Yuqian, his sworn enemy, was actually allowing his fans to vent their emotions on him?

Lele, however, didn’t seem surprised at all and immediately agreed. Fu Yuqian didn’t say anything further, just continued to hold Song Yu.

Song Yu was anxious. What was going on with Fu Yuqian? Why wasn’t he being clear about his intentions?

Weren’t they sworn enemies? Why was he acting like he cared about him?

Soon, it was time for his check-up. The doctor took some X-rays and carefully examined him before smiling and saying, “Mr. Fu, you don’t need to worry. Yi Yi is fine, but this little guy really needs to lose weight. While it’s common for orange cats to get chubby, being too fat can affect their quality of life, and even shorten their lifespan.”

“Alright, I understand. Thank you.” After the check-up, Fu Yuqian took Song Yu back home.

After all the commotion, it was nearly noon. Fu Yuqian put Song Yu down, letting him roam freely. But instead of running around, Song Yu just looked up at him, appearing a bit dazed.

He was also starting to get hungry.

Fu Yuqian squatted down and patted his head. “Go play by yourself for now. I need to go to the study.”

Lele didn’t come back with them.

Song Yu wanted to follow him in, but he was shut out of the room. Frustrated, he slapped the door with his paw to express his displeasure.

He was anxious, not knowing what condition his body was in or how he could get to the First People’s Hospital.

The accident had happened so quickly that Song Yu hadn’t been able to process anything. He still couldn’t remember where he was injured. Was his face okay? Why did they run a red light? Could it be that Old Lu got too caught up in their argument and didn’t notice?

*What a disaster!*

Song Yu stomped his paws on the ground in frustration.

Fortunately, Song Yu was good at comforting himself. Given the situation, there wasn’t much he could do by worrying. Besides, his conflict with Zhao Hua had been escalating, so now was a good time to cool off and think things through.

So, he decided to settle down for now and take the opportunity to dig up some dirt on Fu Yuqian.

After all, he was now deep in enemy territory, with a golden opportunity at his fingertips. He had to make the most of it. Once he was back in his human body, he’d expose everything online and crush him!

Whatever secrets Fu Yuqian had hidden in his drawers, he was going to find them all!

Just as Song Yu was gearing up for a big operation, Fu Yuqian was already feeling a bit suspicious.

Fu Yuqian opened his computer, connected it to the house’s surveillance system, and started reviewing the past hour’s footage. Since he was often out for work, filming and attending events, the only person in the house besides his assistant was the cat. So, he had installed cameras to keep an eye on Yi Yi and even interact with him.

At first, Yi Yi was sleeping in his cat bed on the climbing frame. After waking up, he seemed dazed for a moment, then jumped down and shook his paw.

What happened next was almost surreal. Yi Yi started walking unsteadily, then rolled down the stairs. After that, he somehow made his way to the study, opened the computer, and even fiddled with the tablet.

Fu Yuqian also found a stray cat hair on the tablet.

After a few meows, Yi Yi started trying to open the door, jumping repeatedly to reach the handle.

In the yard, he discovered the gate was locked, so he tried squeezing through the bars.

Normally, Yi Yi was very quiet and would spend the whole day in his cat room. So why was he suddenly acting so strangely?

Fu Yuqian’s eyes darkened slightly, but he didn’t show any emotion.

Author’s Note: This time, the protagonist has great stamina! Rest assured, everyone ^_^
