WTDWPK Chapter 4

Did Pisces Do It Today?

Song Yu was shocked. Had he become so clever that he could now speak human words as a cat?

He kept trying to talk, but all that came out were high-pitched and varied meows. Unable to express himself, Song Yu could only shout again, “Meow Mom, meow meow Mom!” meaning: *Hurry up, take me there!*

Fu Yuqian, however, gave Song Yu a deep, ambiguous look. “Don’t worry, Yiyi. He’ll become your mother.”

With that, Fu Yuqian bent down and picked up Song Yu.

Thinking his plan had worked, Song Yu tried to curry favor with Fu Yuqian, even lowering himself to rub his head against Fu Yuqian’s wrist. But instead of heading out the door, Fu Yuqian walked towards the luxurious five-story cat villa in the living room.

Song Yu panicked and immediately started struggling, but it was too late. Fu Yuqian grabbed the scruff of his neck and personally locked Song Yu inside the cage, then left.

Trapped in the cage, Song Yu was furious, practically ready to explode on the spot.

*Fu Yuqian, I swear I’ll be your enemy for life!*

Inside the cage, Song Yu stomped around, shaking the entire cat villa, but Fu Yuqian was already gone and didn’t witness his tantrum.

Although Song Yu knew that Fu Yuqian was taking a huge risk going in alone, making it impossible for him to take a cat along, it was still his only way to get to the hospital. Even if Fu Yuqian just took him and left him in the car, Song Yu could find a way to open the car door and sneak in, right?

Out of breath from all his hopping around, Song Yu was still fuming. He stretched out his paws and scratched the cat scratching board with fury, thinking, *Once I sharpen these claws, I’ll come back and scratch your face to pieces.*

Wait a second, what did Fu Yuqian mean by that sentence?

*What did he mean by “she will become your mom”? Does Fu Yuqian have a girlfriend?*

Song Yu narrowed his eyes. Perfect—he’d just found his first piece of leverage.

He and Fu Yuqian had been in the entertainment industry for three years now. Over this time, they’d each gained 50 million female fans. Song Yu was always very considerate toward his fans. To avoid breaking their hearts, he never dated anyone. Even when people tried to link him to romantic rumors, he would immediately decline. At the slightest hint of a scandalous story, he’d rush to clarify, which once even landed him in the trending topics. Fans turned his photos into memes with captions like, “Stay away from me, no gossip,” “she wants to date, but my girlfriend fans won’t allow it,” and “Rest assured, I’m not dating.” It was all quite quirky.

As for Fu Yuqian, he was even more hardcore. Any female celebrities who attempted to start rumors with him were quietly blacklisted for a while, which contributed to Fu Yuqian’s reputation of having powerful connections.

So, for three years, both Song Yu and Fu Yuqian remained single.

Of course, in this era where “shipping” is popular, it was impossible for Song Yu and Fu Yuqian to escape being paired together in fan-made couples (CPs). However, since neither of them had ever played into this, their rankings on CP charts were always outside the top ten.

Except for one persistently strong CP—Pisces.

The “Pisces” CP, as the name suggests, was derived from one character in each of their names. Fans of this couple called themselves “Pisces Girls.” Their introductory material was based on a hug they shared three years ago at an awards ceremony. Over the years, the Pisces Girls had relentlessly created content—editing videos, making posters—even though Song Yu and Fu Yuqian had only crossed paths at award shows, and even then, from a great distance. The fans used figurative microscopes to scrape together the tiniest moments, consuming this content with both bittersweetness and satisfaction.

Naturally, Song Yu knew about this CP. At first, he wanted to personally put an end to it, but his management company stopped him. First, it was a fan-driven thing, so going out of his way to clarify would make it seem like a big deal. Second, since Song Yu had already shut down several other pairings, it might make him come across as heartless to outsiders. Having one clearly impossible CP might actually ease the tension and wouldn’t do any harm.

At the time, Song Yu was quite frustrated, unable to accept the situation. But he couldn’t argue with his management’s arrangement. He even secretly created a private account to go into the CP fan spaces and declare that Pisces was impossible, only to be fiercely criticized by the Pisces Girls. After almost forgetting to switch back to his main account and giving himself a scare, he stopped paying attention to it altogether.

From then on, he pretended that Pisces didn’t exist.

Fu Yuqian, on his side, seemed to share the same attitude. He never clarified anything either, so two male idols with no scandals between them ended up with an official CP: “Did Pisces Do It Today?”—abbreviated as “Pisces.”

The beauty of the Chinese language.

Back to the present—when Song Yu learned that Fu Yuqian might have a girlfriend, the corners of his mouth curled up wickedly. *Let me see which poor, unfortunate girl took a liking to you.*

He thought about how, after exposing the truth, he could at least give the girl some proper recognition.

Once Fu Yuqian arrived at the First People’s Hospital, he called someone. Soon, in the medical personnel’s passageway, he met a doctor in a white coat and a mask. The man had thick eyebrows, big eyes, and a clear gaze. As soon as he saw Fu Yuqian, he said, “Just this once. If anything goes wrong and I lose my job, I’ll hold you and Yingqi responsible.”

With that, the doctor led Fu Yuqian to the changing room, where he handed him a white coat, a mask, and a pair of glasses with clear lenses.

Fu Yuqian obediently changed into them, buttoning the coat all the way up to the top button. The doctor clicked his tongue and said, “Tsk, you even look more like a doctor than I do.”

At 6’1″ (185 cm), with broad shoulders and long legs, Fu Yuqian wore the white coat with gold-rimmed glasses, exuding an air of cold restraint. If fans saw him like this, they’d probably all rush over to have “Dr. Fu” treat them.

“Thank you,” Fu Yuqian’s voice was slightly altered by the mask.

“Don’t thank me yet,” the doctor replied. “In a moment, you’ll pretend to be one of my students during rounds. You’ll only have about two minutes, and there’s a chance someone else could be in the room, so you can’t make any suspicious moves. Understand?”

Fu Yuqian nodded. “I understand.”

“Good, hold this medical chart and follow me.”

Fu Yuqian hunched slightly, following behind the doctor, restraining his usual demeanor to blend in like a student. The doctor led him to check on other patients first. Night rounds are typically quick, just to check on the patients’ conditions, ensure they haven’t left without permission, or address any emergencies, so the time spent in each room was brief.

As they made their rounds, none of the patients noticed anything unusual about Fu Yuqian. He even diligently recorded every word the doctor said, without missing any of the technical terms. This impressed the doctor, who began to see Fu Yuqian in a better light.

Finally, they arrived at Song Yu’s room. Two bodyguards stood at the door, asking the doctor a few routine questions, but didn’t become suspicious. Inside, Song Yu lay alone on the hospital bed. His usually radiant, beautiful eyes were tightly shut, and his face was pale, making him look especially fragile.

Fu Yuqian’s brows furrowed deeply. Standing beside the bed, he almost had to use all his strength to resist the urge to reach out and touch him. *How did he end up like this?* And what was his management company doing, not arranging 24-hour care?

The doctor performed a simple check-up on Song Yu and reported the findings to Fu Yuqian, who noted them down while holding back his breathing. The doctor then announced they had to leave.

Fu Yuqian clenched his fists. He would find a way to arrange for the best medical team to treat Song Yu.

As for his management company, he planned to settle the score with them. *How could they treat the person he cared about most like this?*

Back in the office, the doctor said, “The MRI results are out. There is indeed a small amount of blood clotting in the back of his head. Conservative treatment could be an option. However, there’s something strange—according to the results, the clot isn’t in a critical area, and after the initial emergency care, he should have woken up. His driver, assistant, and agent, who were injured more seriously, have all regained consciousness. He’s the only one still in a coma. We’re considering whether his own willpower might be the reason.”

“You’re saying he doesn’t want to wake up?” Fu Yuqian thought to himself—there’s no way. Song Yu was a highly positive person, passionate about the stage, about life, and especially about his fans. How could he possibly not want to wake up?

“It’s just a theory,” the doctor replied. “We’d need more detailed tests or even surgery to know for sure. But we haven’t been able to contact his family, and his management company is firmly against surgery. In fact, I’ve heard they’re already arranging for him to be transferred to another hospital.”

After thanking the doctor again, Fu Yuqian left the hospital and immediately began reaching out to international medical teams.

As rumors had suggested, the Fu family was indeed quite well off, but most of their business was overseas. As a result, the resources Fu Yuqian had access to were primarily tied to international brands.

Becoming an actor was always his dream. But three years ago, after Song Yu had fallen and inadvertently fallen into his heart, Fu Yuqian had adjusted his entire career plan. He decided to first rise as a public figure in the same circle as Song Yu and then venture into acting together.

But unexpectedly, the little guy seemed to have pegged him as a rival.

That was something Fu Yuqian hadn’t anticipated.

In the beginning, Fu Yuqian had tried to get close to Song Yu, but Song always kept his distance as though Fu was some kind of virus. Fu had even pulled some strings to get them both on the same variety show, only for Song Yu to flatly refuse. He went as far as saying that as long as Fu Yuqian was involved, Song Yu wouldn’t be, or he’d cause an incident on set.

He was both adorable and fierce, which only made Fu Yuqian want to hug him and ruffle his hair.

Unable to approach Song Yu and not daring to confess publicly, Fu Yuqian had no choice but to suppress his feelings, nearly driving himself crazy. The only solace he found was in the small moments of “sweetness” in their fandom’s “CP” (couple pairing) discussions.

Just now, in that hospital room, had been the closest they’d been to each other in three years. But Fu Yuqian would have preferred Song Yu being his old self—constantly avoiding him—rather than seeing him unconscious and unaware of anything.

Fu Yuqian had come out to his family as soon as he turned eighteen. With an open-minded family and two accomplished older brothers, his coming out had been entirely smooth. When he later fell in love with Song Yu, he told his family everything. So, the moment he called his mom, she anxiously asked, “Yu Qian, how is Xiao Yu? Did you see him? Do you want me to come over? Oh, how could something like this happen to him? It breaks my heart!”

Fu Yuqian’s mother was a huge fan of Song Yu—half “mom-fan,” half devoted supporter. Almost every day, she would tease Fu Yuqian for failing to win Song over, even wanting to step in herself.

After telling her about Song Yu’s current condition, Fu Yuqian’s mom immediately promised to contact local medical institutions and arrange for top experts to come as soon as possible.

Once everything was in order, Fu Yuqian sat in the car for a while before finally driving home.

Unbeknownst to him, a feisty orange cat was waiting at home, ready to give him a surprise.

*Mini Theater:*

Much later, a reporter interviewed Song Yu, “Weren’t you and Fu Yuqian rivals? How did you end up together?”

Song Yu, with a heavy look in his eyes and a sorrowful tone, replied, “It all started when I accidentally called him ‘mom’…”

Reporter: “???”
