WTDWPK Chapter 9

Slapped by Song’s Mom

Song Yu abruptly turned around, glaring angrily at Fu Yuqian. His body tensed, poised to pounce and bite at any moment, a low growl rumbling from his throat.

“Yiyi?” Fu Yuqian looked puzzled. “What’s wrong? That area was a little dirty—did you accidentally get it soiled? The fur there even looks a bit yellow. I wasn’t touching it on purpose.”

As Fu Yuqian explained, Song Yu started to doubt himself. *Could it be that I really peed off target? Or used the wrong posture?*

*Ugh, being a cat is so annoying!*

What was even more frustrating was the aftermath. After finishing his business, he couldn’t use toilet paper, and there was no way he was going to clean himself like a cat would—that was way beyond his human limits. If Fu Yuqian was helping him wash, it was probably normal. After all, Fu Yuqian didn’t know he was actually human.

Suppressing his discomfort, Song Yu reluctantly turned back around. “Meow.” *Just hurry up already.*

Fu Yuqian’s eyes glimmered with amusement, though his tone remained serious. “Yiyi, you’ve been acting really strange lately. I called the pet hospital, and they said it might be because you’re entering heat. The other day when you ran outside—was it because a little female cat was calling for you?”

“…” *Screw your ‘little female cat’! You’re the one with little female cats calling you!*

Fu Yuqian’s warm, slender hands finished washing the bell collar and moved to a small protrusion in front, gently rubbing and cleaning it. Song Yu shivered, an electric sensation coursing through his entire body.

*Endure it, Song Yu. The heavens have assigned you a great mission—stay strong!*

Luckily, Fu Yuqian worked quickly, moving to the back before Song Yu could get too angry.

Song Yu closed his eyes, his body stiff with discomfort. However, when he closed his eyes, the sensations became clearer. Fu Yuqian was… cleaning his *little bell*!

To be honest, Fu Yuqian was very skilled at this, but Song Yu felt utterly uncomfortable. After a few more touches, he couldn’t hold it in any longer. He turned around, facing Fu Yuqian. “Alright, alright, it’s clean now, just wash my head.”

Fu Yuqian continued, “Yiyi, you’re so good. Every time we bathe, you’re like a little angel. What should I reward you with? You’ve been needing to lose weight, so once you’ve slimmed down, I’ll take you to find a little female cat, how about it? We’re both men, and I wouldn’t want to neuter you—you should leave some descendants.”

Song Yu hadn’t yet recovered from the shock of having his *little bell* cleaned by his rival. When he heard Fu Yuqian talk about finding a female cat, he immediately rejected the idea, growling, “M*therf*cker, if you dare find me a female cat, you’re dead!”

His voice was filled with curses, and he shouted again. However, Fu Yuqian didn’t misunderstand this time—he could tell that Song Yu was cursing him.

Not wanting to push Song Yu too far, Fu Yuqian quickly finished washing him and then said, “Yiyi, you’ve lost some weight. That’s great, baby.”

The word “baby” was said in a lower, more magnetic tone, sending a thrill through Song Yu’s ears.

After drying him off, Fu Yuqian let Song Yu out of the room. He didn’t ask him to sleep with him, and Song Yu, still feeling shaken, lowered his head as he went back to his cat room. He randomly picked a luxurious cat bed, curled up, and closed his eyes, ready to fall asleep.

Life had become unbearably difficult.

But in his half-dream state, Song Yu suddenly heard some noises from the next room—something suggestive. His ears were too sensitive, and with them being so close, he immediately knew what kind of sound it was.

Song Yu was instantly jolted awake, his face filled with despair. *Is there no one to save this poor cat?* When would this nightmare ever end?

Maybe Fu Yuqian wasn’t as good as he looked? What if he was all show, only lasting three minutes?

Song Yu silently counted the seconds, but after over a thousand counts, it still hadn’t stopped. Getting frustrated, he pressed his paw to his ears and reluctantly fell back asleep.

When Fu Yuqian came out and saw that the room was empty, he wasn’t disappointed. After all, Song Yu was still wary and hostile toward him. If he had stayed in the room, that would’ve been strange. But Fu Yuqian had noticed the softer side of Song Yu, and that made him even more smitten.

He was certain he would win over this little cat.

Three days passed, and Song Yu’s weight loss was beginning to show results. However, Song Yu still hadn’t woken up from his coma. His fans were now beyond crying—they were flooded with posts of prayers and well-wishes. Oddly, his condition hadn’t worsened; his breathing remained steady, and his complexion had started to return to a healthy color, almost as if he were just asleep.

Fu Yuqian found time to meet with Song Yu’s mother. Although she had her basic needs taken care of, she appeared haggard and fragile, looking as if she could collapse at any moment. When she saw Fu Yuqian, she forced a weak smile. “I remember you. You’re Xiao Yu’s friend.”

“Auntie, I’m Fu Yuqian,” Fu Yuqian introduced himself.

Unexpectedly, Song Yu’s mother became immediately cautious, stepping in front of her son protectively. “I’ve heard Xiao Yu mention you. You’re his rival. What are you here for?”

Fu Yuqian: “…”

Well, it seemed like things had gone from difficult mode to hell mode, but then again, this was something Song Yu could pull off.

“You misunderstand, Auntie. There’s really no animosity between me and Song Yu,” Fu Yuqian tried to explain, but Song Yu’s mother wouldn’t listen at all. She even sneered coldly, “Do you think I’ll believe my son or you? Just leave.”

Fu Yuqian: “…Auntie, please don’t be upset. I’ll come see you next time.”

Song Yu’s mother seemed to be driving him away like a plague. “There won’t be a next time. If you come again, I won’t be so polite.”

The door to the hospital room slammed shut with a “bang,” so forcefully that it almost hit Fu Yuqian’s prominent nose.

Ying Qi, who was leaning against the wall, was laughing like an idiot.

Fu Yuqian touched his nose, his gaze sharp and cutting as he glared at Ying Qi. “Next time, Auntie will let me in.”

“I don’t believe that, hahahaha,” Ying Qi continued laughing. “I’m telling you, Old Fu, you might as well have someone else like you. It’s so hard that I can’t think of any other way to win him over.”

Fu Yuqian, however, remained calm and confident. “Fate will arrange things.”

“Well, I’m really curious to see how fate arranges this,” Ying Qi didn’t believe him at all. “How about we make a bet?”

“A bet?” Fu Yuqian chuckled lightly.

Ying Qi had clearly been planning this for a while. “If I win, you’ll lend me your limited-edition Reventón for a year. After all, it’s just sitting in your garage collecting dust.”

“Sure.” Fu Yuqian responded, “But if you lose?”

“Do whatever you want with me. If you like something about me, just say it,” Ying Qi was sure he would win.

Fu Yuqian thought for a moment. “If you lose, you’ll make a video of yourself running naked and send it to my older brother.” His older brother was extremely strict, seven years older than him, very traditional, and even stricter than their father. He had been the one to discipline them all their lives.

Ying Qi gritted his teeth. “You’re ruthless, fine. I’ll bet. I don’t believe you can turn things around. But just to make sure you don’t try to back out, we need to agree: if you don’t change within half a month, you’ll come back within a week.”

Fu Yuqian gave him an “OK” hand gesture. Let’s see who gets beaten.

Ying Qi also swung his fist. “That Reventón is as good as mine.”

As a top celebrity, Fu Yuqian’s connections were deep, but having three days off was already a luxury. By the fourth day, Yin Lang and Liu Le arrived with their team. Over the next few days, Fu Yuqian’s schedule was packed with a magazine cover shoot, shooting advertisements for the products he endorsed for the upcoming Spring Festival, and then participating in two variety shows. After the holiday, he would fly abroad to shoot a new season of endorsement ads and then star in a science fiction movie as a supporting male character. Yin Lang had gone abroad earlier to negotiate these deals.

Yin Lang was discussing work plans with Fu Yuqian, and Song Yu was blatantly eavesdropping. Fu Yuqian didn’t try to hide his conversation, since they were all going to be family eventually.

Fu Yuqian’s makeup artist was Vinda, a well-known domestic makeup artist whose style was bold and wild, perfect for the theme of today’s magazine shoot.

Fu Yuqian was going to appear on the cover of “The Other Side” (TOS), the number one fashion magazine in the country. The cover for this issue was known for its bold and fashionable looks, with the theme of “jungle.”

After Vinda finished Fu Yuqian’s base makeup and picked out his outfit, they were ready to go. The group headed out, and Song Yu instinctively followed a few steps behind, feeling a bit dejected. He had been used to being busy for the past few years and had grown accustomed to the spotlight. Suddenly having nothing to do felt strange, and he envied Fu Yuqian for being able to go out and work.

However, Yin Lang and the rest of the team didn’t pay him any attention.

Song Yu lowered his head.

Suddenly, he felt light as if he was being picked up. It was Fu Yuqian.

“Meow?” What’s the deal with picking me up? Shouldn’t you be heading to your magazine shoot?

Fu Yuqian spoke, “I’m taking Yiyi with me.”

Yin Lang frowned, “You can’t bring pets to work. Do you want people to think you’re being unprofessional or showing off?”

“I just think today’s theme is perfect for taking photos with Yiyi,” Fu Yuqian replied calmly, his tone leaving no room for argument. “If anything goes wrong, I’ll take responsibility.”

Liu Le internally complained, *Here it comes, that familiar feeling of being possessed.*

When Yin Lang heard Fu Yuqian’s tone, he knew the latter wasn’t going to listen to anyone. But since he was in a position where he couldn’t oppose him, he relented. “If anything goes wrong, don’t expect me to handle the PR.”

“I trust Yiyi,” Fu Yuqian responded.

Song Yu was actually quite surprised. After all, bringing a pet to work usually leaves a bad impression, so Fu Yuqian must be pretty rebellious to do this. Should he cause trouble?

He smirked, narrowing his eyes.

Let’s see how you ruin your reputation.

When they arrived at the shooting location, the studio in the magazine’s office building, everything was ready: the backdrop, outfits, and all the props.

In recent years, traditional print media had been gradually replaced by online platforms. TOS was among the first to release digital versions of their magazine, priced half as much as the print version, and it allowed readers to download high-resolution images of the cover stars. Once launched, it became a huge success, quickly surpassing other magazines in sales and taking the top spot, a position no one has managed to break since.

It was the magazine all top stars fought to appear in.

Though Song Yu was also a top celebrity, he had never been invited to be on the cover of a magazine.

It was because his “image” wasn’t quite up to par, and that had a lot to do with his agency.

His agency was, to put it mildly, a small-time operation.

He never expected Fu Yuqian, his rival, to get the cover first.

Song Yu bit Fu Yuqian’s sleeve in frustration but was gently patted on the head by Fu Yuqian.

The magazine was undeniably very rich, and the studio’s set looked extremely luxurious, clearly a dreamlike space.

As soon as the staff saw Fu Yuqian, they were about to greet him with smiles, but when they saw the cat in his arms, their expressions froze.

“Mr. Fu,” the photography director’s voice was a bit cold as he furrowed his brows, “We don’t allow pets in here.”

Fu Yuqian calmly responded, “Sorry, I took the liberty, but I think the jungle theme is perfect for shooting with a pet. And Yiyi has a natural camera presence. He’ll definitely enhance the photos. How about you let us take a few test shots, and if you think it’s not suitable, I’ll immediately compensate for any losses.”

Fu Yuqian then looked down at the cat in his arms, “Yiyi, let’s bring out the energy we usually have when we take photos. Let’s do a few shots.”

Song Yu was momentarily confused. He knew Fu Yuqian often took pictures of him, but had they ever seriously taken photos like this before?

*Author’s note: Ding! Your Fu is now fooling around again.*

End of Chapter 597! Just a little scene to get past the 600 mark~

Background: Yiyi wakes up, and Song Yu hasn’t left yet.

Fu Yuqian: Yiyi, it’s bath time.

Yiyi (trembling with fear): I don’t want a bath, meow! *Wails*

Song Yu (confused): Wait, didn’t Fu Yuqian say that you’re always an angel when you take a bath?

Yiyi: No way! Baths are so scary, why would I like them, meow! He sent me to the pet shop and had four or five people hold me down, meow! It’s cat abuse!

Song Yu(gradually understanding): So, he didn’t personally give you a bath or clean your… uh, that area?

Yiyi: Yeah, meow~

Song Yu(furious): That *dog* Fu Yuqian is dead meat when I get my hands on him!

Thanks to Shen Wei for the lovely donation, mwah!
