SSEWC Chapter 4

Domineering Alpha CEO

At 8:20 in the morning, the driver was already waiting for them downstairs.

As soon as He Heng got into the car, the driver turned around and asked him, “President He, should I first take you to the company and then Mr. Shi back home later?”

At this, He Heng squinted his narrow eyes, turned to look at Shi Shuang, and his gaze, somewhat probing, swept back and forth on the other’s face. It continued until the latter became a bit uncomfortable. Only then did He Heng say,

“No, he’s coming to the company with me today.”

Upon hearing this, Shi Shuang widened his eyes.

In the past, if there were no events requiring his attendance, Alpha would absolutely not allow him to appear in public. He would only keep him at home. But why today?

“Impossible, right? Do you think I’d keep an idle person for nothing?” He Heng’s slender index finger rested on his chin, and the corner of his mouth lifted. However, his tone sounded particularly teasing.

He knew Shi Shuang had a strong aversion to that villa and detested the original owner’s control over him. In that case, he might as well take him to the company.

Moreover, it wasn’t safe to leave him alone at home.

However, in order to maintain the original owner’s aloof character, He Heng had to use a bit of rhetoric to make his actions sound less mundane.

Yet, it seemed that Shi Shuang wasn’t entirely swayed by He Heng’s attempts at rhetoric. He paused, a glint of brightness flickering in his attractive eyes, and hesitated, “Are you asking me to work?”

He Heng raised an eyebrow, opting to continue with his rhetorical approach, “What do you mean? Do you think you can’t handle the hardships of work?”

“I can,” Shi Shuang shook his head slightly, pursing his slightly raised lips. The long eyelashes cast a shadow beneath his eyes.

Compared to the pitch-black life he had before, being able to work like a normal person was something he longed for.

A few strands of smooth black hair fell onto Shi Shuang’s fair forehead. With this smile, his entire demeanor softened, leaving He Heng momentarily stunned.

He mumbled to himself in his mind: ‘That smile looks quite good. Why doesn’t he smile more often?’

At the same time, a mechanical sound rang out: Ding!

[The protagonist’s current blackening value has decreased to 85.]

This sound brought He Heng back to reality, and he quickly averted his gaze, turning his head away.

Muttering to himself, He Heng thought that indeed, protagonists were creatures full of positive energy, and “Labor is the most glorious” was their motto.

Then He Heng had a second thought: ‘What if he made him work the 996 schedule1The term “996” stands for working from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week.? Would his blackening value drop to 70 by the end of the week?’

The next moment, with a “boom!” sound, the car started.

The driver in the front seat, however, was still a bit dazed by He Heng’s recent rhetoric. After all, there weren’t many Alphas who dared to speak to their spouses like that nowadays.

Yesterday, his wife complained that he was like a block of wood, claiming that no one on this earth was worse at talking than him.

Thinking of this, the driver glanced through the rearview mirror at the black-haired Alpha with crossed long legs and a deliberately indifferent expression, thinking, ‘Isn’t there one right here?’

Unfortunately, his wife didn’t know President He.

Inside the imposing business building, accompanied by a “Ding!” sound, the elevator reached the twenty-ninth floor of Tian Sheng Group. With the company of his secretary and assistant, He Heng, with a stern face, stepped out of the elevator. His gaze was cold enough to kill, and it seemed like a gust of wind lifted from under his feet. If he had a pair of sunglasses now, he might even feel like he could play the role of a young gangster.

“President He, the PR department has just successfully suppressed that piece of news.” Ji Yuan jogged alongside him, reporting some important matters to He Heng.

The reason he was jogging was that for every step He Heng took, he had to take three, as keeping up with the CEO’s long strides was not an easy task.

“Hmm,” He Heng nodded slightly, continuing to walk forward without casting a glance.

Wherever he passed, everyone avoided him.

The trending topic this morning had shocked the employees of Tian Sheng Group. Public opinion exploded throughout the entire office building. Who would have dared to imagine that their usually cold and aloof CEO, someone so unapproachable, was the 0 in the relationship?

If it weren’t for them seeing He Heng saying those words in the video, no one would have believed the news that He Heng, as an Alpha, was pregnant.

After all, it was well-known that videos couldn’t be faked.

So, now, every time they saw He Heng and recalled the trending topic about his pregnancy, everyone was filled with fear, afraid to accidentally bump into him.

One employee, in a hasty attempt to avoid him, spilled coffee on themselves.

Another person’s stack of documents turned into a flurry of scattered papers.

In the end, amidst a thousand words, all that came out was a cautiously spoken, “Good morning, President He.”

In He Heng’s eyes, all of this was merely a result of his overpowering presence, intimidating them all.

Indeed, this was the authority of a dominant CEO.

With this in mind, He Heng held his head even higher, striding with a breeze into his private office.

Once inside, he immediately instructed his assistant to find a suitable job for Shi Shuang.

In the moment before stepping out of the office door, Shi Shuang suddenly halted, turned around, and with slightly lowered, hesitant eyes, he said, “Will you pay me a salary?”

As the CEO of Tian Sheng Group, would he actually withhold the salary of a mere employee?

Who did he think he was looking down upon?

The next moment, He Heng smirked, lifting the corner of his mouth. Without saying a word, he opened a drawer on his desk, pulled out a stack of checks, took his pen and casually wrote a string of zeros on one. He then briskly tore the check off and imperiously stuffed it into Shi Shuang’s arms.

“This is one million. Is it enough for you to work here for a year?”

Shi Shuang was momentarily stunned. He lowered his head to look at the check, furrowing his brows without saying anything.

He Heng crossed his arms in front of his chest, “What, do you think it’s not enough?”

“No,” Shi Shuang raised his head with a hint of surprise, “Isn’t it written as ten million here?”

Damn it!

Blame that smooth-flowing pen; his hand shook, and he accidentally wrote an extra zero just now.

However, He Heng maintained a nonchalant expression, casually chuckled, and raised an eyebrow, “Are you dissatisfied?”

This left his assistant, Ji Yuan, who was standing nearby, utterly dumbfounded. So, their CEO usually spoke to his own Omega like this?

Simply fearless.

Shi Shuang just shook his head, indicating that he wasn’t dissatisfied. Regardless of whether He Heng would go back on his word, working outside was still better than being confined at home.

The assistant was stunned for two seconds, and after regaining his composure, he respectfully escorted Shi Shuang out.

After they left, He Heng suddenly stopped Ji Yuan, and his expression seemed a bit awkward. “Keep an eye on him, don’t let him do too tiring work.”

Ji Yuan immediately had an understanding expression. It turned out that President He found it hard to express his concern openly but was actually pampering him behind the scenes. Well, thinking about it, he was willing to be a 0 for love. Could he not like it?

From this perspective, their relationship didn’t seem like the rumored contract marriage at all. The notion that the two were just in a contractual marriage, and their relationship was merely for appearances, seemed completely false.

They were clearly doing well.

The next moment…

“President He, understood.” Ji Yuan smiled, nodding repeatedly, then exited the office.

As He Heng looked at Ji Yuan’s expression, which seemed to say, “I’ve figured it out,” he was momentarily perplexed.

After Ji Yuan completed the tasks assigned by He Heng, he returned to report to him in his private office. Seeing that He Heng was busy, he took the opportunity to pour a glass of water for him.

He Heng was in the midst of handling business, and without thinking, he took a sip from the cup. The next moment, his originally elegant eyebrows twisted into a line.

Oh no, the cup Ji Yuan poured for him was sweeter than 105-degree distilled water, scalding his tongue to the point of numbness.

He Heng took a moment to regain control of his tongue. He sighed twice, then looked at Ji Yuan and said, “Are you trying to help me cook instant noodles by pouring me water this hot? Pour cold water next time.”

With a lowered head and fidgeting, Ji Yuan dared not look directly at He Heng. After a while, under the intimidating gaze of He Heng, he slowly spoke, “Aren’t you pregnant? Pregnant people shouldn’t drink cold water.”

Although he hadn’t seen a pregnant Alpha before, he did have some common knowledge about how to take care of a pregnant Omega.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

Just as Ji Yuan finished speaking, He Heng took another sip of water. With his remark, He Heng almost choked, and he coughed a few times, thinking that this was indeed a case of lifting a stone only to drop it on his own foot.

Seeing the situation, Ji Yuan cautiously asked, “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, perfectly fine.” He Heng adjusted his expression, forced a smile, and then waved his hand. He glanced at the documents on the table in a pretentious manner and said, “Notify the Marketing Department to gather in the conference room in half an hour.”

In the adjacent office next to the conference room, the atmosphere was particularly quiet, with only the sound of keyboard typing.

Shi Shuang was focused on the computer screen in front of him, handling the tasks at hand. In this posture, his fair neck was fully exposed, and the silver suppression collar he wore was especially conspicuous.

Seated beside him was an employee named Zhao Chi, a beta who had been working in this position for several years.

Shi Shuang’s appearance was naturally eye-catching, especially with his fair skin; sitting there, he seemed to emit a gentle glow. Zhao Chi couldn’t help but steal a few glances at him, and naturally, he noticed the suppression collar around his neck.

In his mind, Zhao Chi thought with a somewhat sarcastic tone, ‘So, he’s an Omega, no wonder he looks like a fox spirit. I wonder who he’s attached to, pushed here through connections.’

With these thoughts, a hint of disdain flickered in Zhao Chi’s eyes.

At that moment, Shi Shuang finally finished the work at hand. He leaned back in his office chair, tilting slightly backward.

Although it was his first time dealing with these business matters, the workload wasn’t too heavy, thanks to Ji Yuan taking care of him under He Heng’s instructions. Additionally, he was naturally intelligent, so he quickly grasped everything he needed to know. As a result, it didn’t take him much time to complete his tasks.

“How was your first day adapting?” Zhao Chi suddenly struck up a conversation.

Upon hearing this, Shi Shuang turned to look at him and casually replied, “It’s fine.”

Zhao Chi smiled worldly-wise, “Already done? That was fast.”

“Mmm.” Shi Shuang rubbed his nose a bit wearily, and his beautiful eyes remained calm.

Due to his personality, Shi Shuang always gave off a cold impression, and his interactions with others were filled with a sense of aloofness. This only deepened Zhao Chi’s dislike for him.

He thought to himself, ‘Why doesn’t Shi Shuang smile when talking to people? He’s putting on that air of a wealthy young master for everyone to see, isn’t he?’

“Well, why don’t you take care of these as well? Since you’re a newcomer, it’s a good opportunity to learn.” Zhao Chi, with a smiling face, smoothly moved a stack of thick documents onto Shi Shuang’s desk. His actions were natural, without a trace of awkwardness or shamelessness.

Shi Shuang glanced at the stack of documents, instantly understanding the situation. It was clear that this person was trying to pass on his own workload to others, and there was no way Shi Shuang could finish this pile of work before 9 p.m.

Seeing this, Shi Shuang lifted his gaze, and their eyes suddenly met, creating an awkward atmosphere. At that moment…

Creak. The door at the end of the corridor, leading to the conference room, opened. Through the transparent glass, Zhao Chi could see several well-dressed individuals walking out.

Leading the group was none other than the CEO of their company, the top-tier Alpha who had graced the covers of several wealthy magazines at the age of twenty-six—He Heng.

The next moment, He Heng suddenly turned his head and looked in their direction. His indifferent yet profound eyes made hearts go thump-thump in an instant.

Zhao Chi suddenly realized that He Heng was walking towards them.

As he looked at the man’s heroic and handsome face, Zhao Chi’s back tensed with nervousness.

Behind He Heng was his secretary, Ji Yuan. His arrival caused the entire office to fall into an immediate silence, and everyone’s gaze converged on him.

Under the scrutiny of the onlookers, He Heng walked up to Shi Shuang’s desk.

Shi Shuang raised his head in surprise, and then he saw He Heng’s gaze sweep over the stack of documents placed between their desks, finally landing on his face.

This left Zhao Chi stunned.

Could it be that President He knows this Omega?

Thinking about this, his Adam’s apple rolled up and down, and his forehead seemed to have a cold sweat.

Then, he heard He Heng’s deep voice echoing from above,

“Is this your work efficiency?”
