WCG Chapter 22.2

Quietly (Part 2)

The next morning, at the breakfast table, Jiang Lele was complaining to everyone about Xu’s perverted pursuer.

“He actually asked the captain, in front of both livestream audiences, if he likes to sleep naked after taking a shower!”

Jiang Lele angrily bit into his fried dough stick. “If Yang-ge hadn’t called the captain away, and if I hadn’t quickly shut down the stream, I don’t know how we would’ve ended that mess.”

Jiang Shi looked up from his bowl of wontons and gave Jiang Lele a cold glance.

It’s this Little Winter Melon again.

He knew it! There was no way Xie Xu would have just left like that!

Jiang Lele, feeling Jiang Shi’s gaze, covered his own wontons protectively. “No way, you want two bowls?”

Even if he could, Jiang Lele wouldn’t let him eat his portion!

Xie Xu took half the wontons from his own bowl, put them into a small bowl, and placed it in front of Jiang Shi. “Enough, eat properly.”

Jiang Lele reluctantly finished his fried dough stick. After a while, he couldn’t help but ask, “Captain, you have a pretty high tolerance for Time. Aren’t you curious why he asked that?”

He had been lurking in Jiang Shi’s stream at the time and was shocked to hear the question.

That kid really has no filter!

Jiang Shi waited until Xie Xu had finished eating and was wiping his mouth with a tissue before pulling the half bowl of wontons in front of him and starting to eat.

As for why he asked that question—

Jiang Shi sneaked a glance at the person beside him.

A beige sweater layered under a loose black team jacket — casual yet warm.

Nothing like the thin clothes he had worn right after his shower the previous night.

Jiang Shi had asked twice, and Xie Xu had replied both times that wearing so many clothes felt uncomfortable.

Why was it uncomfortable? Because he was used to sleeping naked after showering?

Once the idea took root in Jiang Shi’s mind, it wouldn’t leave. Every time he saw Xie Xu coming into the training room with the scent of shower steam still clinging to him, his thoughts would spiral out of control. That’s why he had used his Time identity to test Xu.

Because the Obedient Jiangjiang would never ask something like that.

As Jiang Lele was about to say something else, Jiang Shi quickly grabbed a bun and stuffed it into his mouth. “Just eat your meal.”

“Don’t pry too much into the captain’s private life. Gossiping is impolite.”

His righteous tone earned Zhao Jiu’s approval.

“Lele, Yang-ge has told you many times not to follow that streamer’s lead. Why don’t you ever listen?”

Time talking nonsense last night was bad enough, and now Jiang Lele had lost his sense of propriety at the breakfast table too.

Jiang Lele mumbled through the bun, trying to take it out, but Yu Hui quickly pressed it back into his mouth, ensuring it was properly stuffed.

When Yuan Yang walked in, he saw the scene of everyone forcing Jiang Lele to stay quiet. He frowned and asked, “What are you all up to now?”

Jiang Lele immediately lowered his head, pretending to eat the bun.

If Yuan Yang found out he had been messing around in Time’s stream again, he’d definitely get scolded.

“Oh, by the way, Xu was streaming last night, right? Nothing went wrong, I hope?” Yuan Yang asked while replying to messages on his phone, looking very busy.

Jiang Shi quickly shook his head.

Last night was as peaceful as Christmas Eve1in China, Christmas Eve is 平安夜 píng’ān yè (Peaceful Night/Silent Night), so usually you’ll gift an apple (苹果/píngguǒ) because of the similar pronunciation. That’s the joke..

The others didn’t mention how Xu had run into Time in the stream and been teased.

“Are you busy lately?” Xie Xu asked Yuan Yang.

The mention of it made Yuan Yang’s head hurt. “The Spring Split is about to start, so there’s a lot of prep work to do. And there’s an issue with Jiang Shi’s team uniform. I told them to make it bigger, but they still made it the original size.”

“I’m urging them to fix it.”

Jiang Shi’s official announcement and first live stream would both require the uniform, and with only a few days left, he needed to see the final product.

With everything piling up, Yuan Yang hadn’t even had the energy to monitor Xie Xu’s stream last night.

After saying this, he remembered something and gestured for Jiang Shi to come over. “Come, let’s weigh you.”

There was a scale in the first-floor lobby.

Jiang Shi swallowed his wonton and got up to weigh himself.

It showed 110 jin255 kg.

One jin heavier than when they last measured for the uniform.

Yuan Yang patted Jiang Shi on the shoulder with satisfaction. “Good, you’ve gained weight, and the new uniform size should fit.”

As Jiang Shi stepped off the scale, he met Xie Xu’s gaze. “How much?”

“110.”

Jiang Shi answered and then returned to his seat to continue his breakfast. When he first arrived at the base, his weight shot up quickly, but it had since stabilized.

Xie Xu seemed to recall something and raised an eyebrow, “You’ve gained 5 jin?”

Jiang Shi mumbled around a wonton, “Yes.”

When he first arrived at the base, he only weighed 105 jin. He didn’t expect Xie Xu to remember even that.

Xie Xu’s voice was low, and with Jiang Lele’s loud voice, the others didn’t hear their conversation.

After Yuan Yang confirmed the uniform size with the tailor, he looked up, intending to say something to Jiang Shi, only to find Xie Xu leaning lazily against the back of his chair, whispering to Jiang Shi. Yuan Yang sighed, “Xu, don’t lean so close to Xiao Shi when he’s eating!”

Jiang Shi had been eating his wontons quite relaxedly, but after Xie Xu angled his body toward him, Jiang Shi had to take three bites to finish one small wonton, all while seriously answering Xie Xu’s questions. He was tired from just watching.

But before Yuan Yang could finish speaking, Jiang Shi picked up his bowl and finished the remaining wontons in one gulp, even drinking the soup dry. “It’s fine, I’m done eating.”

He couldn’t be happier with Xie Xu sitting close to him.

“Alright, alright, I won’t get in the way of you two bot laners,” Yuan Yang said with a smile. “Xu, for your stream later, turn on the camera and include Xiao Shi. Let him show something—his voice, his hands, whatever.”

Jiang Lele was more excited than Jiang Shi. “Yang-ge, does that mean we can finally take our Little White Hair out for a walk?”

Jiang Shi turned his head and flashed his fist, as big as a sandbag, under the table at Jiang Lele.

Jiang Lele quickly changed his tone, “Our new AD can finally make an appearance?”

“Just a little teaser,” Yuan Yang explained. “In Xu’s stream, don’t let him show his face completely. I’ll post a Weibo later, and the four of you should like it but don’t say anything.”

He had checked the Weibo traffic about TLG’s new ADC earlier that morning, and it seemed just right.

At 11 AM., TLG’s official Weibo posted a message:

#In response to recent debates about TLG’s starting AD, here is our official response: TLG has indeed signed a new AD. Please stay tuned for further official announcements.#

The four other starting players from TLG quickly liked the post.

Xie Xu also posted on his personal Weibo.

[TLG-Xu: Live streaming duo queue with our AD at 2 PM today.]

Jiang Lele cheekily added a comment underneath.

[TLG-Lele: The captain will have his camera on~]

With this promotion, the stream was already buzzing with anticipation before it even started.

Not only were TLG and Xie Xu’s fans waiting in the stream, but many professional players were also eager to test the new AD’s strength.

Jiang Shi was already sitting in the training room, waiting for Yuan Yang’s instructions.

Yuan Yang noticed Jiang Shi’s pale yellow hoodie and frowned. “Jiang Shi, do you have any other clothes?”

Jiang Shi was sitting right next to Xie Xu, so if the camera was turned on, it would definitely capture part of him. Yuan Yang was worried the fans might mistake him for an underage kid.

“I also have the pink bunny ear hoodie I wore when I came for the trial.”

Aside from these two, all his other clothes were black with cool tiger and skull prints.

Yuan Yang glanced around at the other players, “Back, you’re about the same size as Xiao Shi. Lend him your uniform for the day.”

Yu Hui immediately stood up and began taking off his jacket, and Jiang Shi naturally reached out to accept it.

But before he could, a wide team jacket was draped over his arm, weighing it down and stopping him from taking Yu Hui’s jacket.

Xie Xu’s voice was calm. “Wear mine.”

Yuan Yang clicked his tongue, “Why does he have to wear yours? Your size is so different from Xiao Shi’s. Will it even fit? Right, Xiao Shi?”

He turned, only to see Jiang Shi already swiftly putting on Xie Xu’s jacket.

Jiang Shi rolled up the sleeves a bit and kept a straight face, “I think it fits just fine.”

The jacket still carried Xie Xu’s body heat and a faint citrus scent.

It seemed to be the scent of body wash, which had seeped into the fabric after prolonged wear.

Yuan Yang looked at Jiang Shi with exasperation, “After spending so much time with Xie Xu, hasn’t his fan filter worn off yet?”

He muttered, “At this rate, if Xie Xu sold you off one day, you’d probably happily count the money for him.”

Jiang Shi immediately protested, “The captain wouldn’t do that.”

Xie Xu wasn’t short of money.

Besides, he wouldn’t fetch a high price anyway.
