WCG Chapter 55

Besides, your trust doesn’t really matter.

Jiang Shi thought he was being discreet, but as soon as he moved, he noticed all four pairs of eyes in front of him locked onto his hand. Then, they slowly followed the motion of him pulling up his pants.

Jiang Shi: “…”

Awkward as the scene was, Jiang Shi gritted his teeth and finished pulling up his pants. The four others averted their eyes just as awkwardly.

The cramped hallway fell into an eerie silence.

As Jiang Shi debated how to gracefully navigate past the group and return to his room, Jiang Lele’s brain, finally recovering from its crash, rebooted. He looked at Jiang Shi with an expression full of disbelief. “You actually made a move on the captain?!”

His eyes darted to Jiang Shi’s disheveled pants, then craned his neck to peer into Xie Xu’s room. He couldn’t see much, but he could faintly hear the sound of running water.

Xie Xu was taking a shower.

Showering first thing in the morning—it was clear enough what had happened.

Listening to the sound of water, Jiang Lele looked stricken. “Fuck! Little White Hair, you actually slept with the captain?!”

“I knew you’d make a move sooner or later, but I didn’t think it’d be this soon…” he mumbled.

Behind him, Yuan Yang and Zhao Jiu were dumbfounded, while Yu Hui, reaching his limit, stepped forward and grabbed Jiang Lele in a headlock. Covering his mouth, Yu Hui dragged him toward the stairs. “I’ll take him to training first. You guys talk.”

Zhao Jiu, sensing the tension, quickly followed. “I’ll go too.”

Left in the hallway were just Jiang Shi and Yuan Yang, staring at each other.

Yuan Yang wasn’t slow. After his initial confusion, he too realized something was off. Taking a deep breath, he tried to calm himself, but seeing Jiang Shi’s hunched posture and evasive gaze, he snapped and raked a hand through his hair in frustration.

In all his years managing the team, this was a first.

Just how long has Jiang Shi been in the team! It’s barely half a year! How could Xie Xu do this?!

Yuan Yang couldn’t calm down at the thought. Gritting his teeth, he barked, “Go back to your room and wash up first!”

His hair looks like a bird’s nest from sleeping!

Seeing Yuan Yang blocking his doorway with a dark expression, Jiang Shi instinctively retreated toward Xie Xu’s open door. But the next second, he was yanked back by his collar.

“Go to your room!”

Reluctantly, Jiang Shi sidestepped Yuan Yang and headed back to his room. Before closing the door, he glanced back to see Yuan Yang — usually immaculate — rolling up his suit sleeves and storming into Xie Xu’s room. He roared, “Xie Xu, come out!”r

His voice was so loud that everyone in the hallway could hear it.

Jiang Shi’s heart skipped a beat. Everyone seemed to have misunderstood the situation. He thought about explaining things to Yuan Yang, but as soon as he turned back, the door to Xie Xu’s room slammed shut with a loud bang.

Yuan Yang even glared at him.

Jiang Shi: “…”

It’s over. There’s no explaining this.

Inside the room, Xie Xu had just finished showering, and was toweling his hair dry. Seeing the aggressive Yuan Yang, he paused, and before he could say anything, Yuan Yang launched into an exasperated tirade.

“Xie Xu, you’re one of the veterans on this team. I always thought you were mature and level-headed, but explain yourself, what exactly did you and Jiang Shi do in here last night?!”

“Jiang Shi’s only 19! He’s been on the team for less than six months, and you pulled something like this? Are you trying to ruin my New Year?!”

Yuan Yang paced back and forth in the room, his anxiety palpable. “When I took the manager job at TLG, I never thought I’d have to deal with intra-team romance. At least ease me into it! Couldn’t you start with a shy, innocent dating phase? But no, you go straight to something explosive. Do you think my mental health is that robust?”

Yuan Yang became more and more frustrated the longer he spoke. “Other teams have to do counselling after losing a game, but I have to mediate a young couple’s arguments?!”

Xie Xu listened quietly to Yuan Yang’s rant. Once he pieced together the context, he raised an eyebrow. “Did Jiang Shi just tell you we’re dating?”

“No, he said he went into the wrong room, which was obviously nonsense.” Yuan Yang instinctively denied it but then realized something was off. Furious, he snapped, “I’m so angry I’m on the verge of quitting, and you care about what Jiang Shi said?!”

Yuan Yang was about to list his years of dedication to TLG to guilt-trip Xie Xu into reflecting, but before he could start, Xie Xu interrupted.

“We’re not dating.” Xie Xu’s tone was calm. He wiped his hair a few more times before tossing the towel aside and pointing to the quilt Jiang Shi had kicked to the floor. “Nothing happened either. See? Even the quilts are separated.”

Yuan Yang froze. “Huh?”

Then why did Jiang Shi look so guilty? And why was he tugging at his pants on his way out…

Xie Xu explained the events of the previous night in a few sentences. Yuan Yang’s expression turned even more horrified. “A group call? What kind of fans does Xiao Shi have?! Did they hear anything suggestive?!”

If this leaked, no amount of PR could save them.

Xie Xu replied flatly, “No.”

Seeing Xie Xu so composed, Yuan Yang finally let out a sigh of relief. “This is all Lele’s fault for jumping to conclusions. I knew it – how can you and Xiao Shi be possible? Actually, the way Xiao Shi acts, the more obvious it is he’s straight—just like Lele.”

The misunderstanding cleared up, Yuan Yang patted his chest, visibly reassured. He gave Xie Xu an approving look. “Even if they’re unreliable, I know you wouldn’t mess around. I trust you!”

Though, recently, Xie Xu had been acting a bit strange, which had him on edge.

Xie Xu glanced at him, his gaze amused. “You didn’t say that earlier.”

As he tidied up the hairdryer he had left out the previous night, Xie Xu headed toward the bathroom. Brushing past Yuan Yang, he added casually, “Besides, your trust doesn’t really matter.”

Jiang Shi was silently staring at the 25-minute call record in the group chat on his phone.

It was the first thing that popped up when he unlocked his screen, and beneath it, the chat messages had already exceeded 99+ notifications, with new ones constantly rolling in. Mixed within them were several messages tagging him:

[Still not awake? Shouldn’t it be time for TLG training by now?]

[Xu is too beastly! Can T Bao even train today?]

[Ahhhh, I wish I could’ve heard the live version! Boohoo, damn that little white hair brat, he actually sold us out!]

[Xu hanging up mid-call was so ruthless QAQ, my heart was broken last night.]

[I was busy last night and didn’t check the group! Are there any sisters who have the 25-minute audio from last night? (Holds out empty bowl, begging)]

[I have it, but it’s unedited. If you don’t mind, send me a screenshot of your Time streaming account level in my DM. If it’s above level 30, I’ll send it to you privately.]

As Jiang Shi scrolled through the chat history, he belatedly realized that joining the group required answering a question as a threshold, and on top of that, members had to send their streaming account ID to the admin for verification before they were allowed to stay.

He opened the member list and immediately recognized a bunch of familiar usernames.

So, last night, after joining the group, he had only said two sentences before accidentally exposing his identity.

After that, they had egged him into doing a series of stupid things.

And now, those same people had the audacity to tag him, asking if he was awake yet, how “the deed” felt, and if it hurt!

The more Jiang Shi read, the darker his expression became. Finally, with a deadpan face, he replied in the group chat:

[Your Dad Is Here]: Group reported.

He attached a screenshot showing the success of his report on the “anti-pornography and illegal content” website.

Between him and this group chat, only one can survive.

[?]

[Wait, are you serious?]

[Can you afford this L for once?]

[He’s angry and embarassed. Doesn’t sound like he managed to sleep, though…]

[No way, no way? Did he fail even at that?]

[Did you seriously just chat under the covers with Xu?]

Amid the flood of doubts, a message with a completely different vibe suddenly appeared:

[Little White Hair’s Dad]: Was there a live audio broadcast of Little White Hair and Xu in the group last night? I missed it! Does anyone have the recording?

[Little White Hair’s Dad]: But they really slept together! Little White Hair just woke up and looks listless.

This guy’s tone was as excited as a wild weasel causing chaos in a melon field.

The group immediately ignored Jiang Shi and swarmed this person to ask for details and verify the accuracy of the information.

[Little White Hair’s Dad]: 100% legit. My relative works as a cleaning lady at the TLG base and saw it with her own eyes.

Jiang Shi: “?”

Cleaners never come upstairs at this hour, and who wakes up looking that enthusiastic?

Jiang Shi stared at the username for two seconds, then clicked on the profile. The remarks showed: [Winter Melon Music].

After a few seconds of silence, Jiang Shi decisively greeted Jiang Lele cordially.

[Obedient Jiangjiang]: Jiang Lele, you bastard.

[Winter Melon Music]: ?

[Obedient Jiangjiang]: If you keep spreading nonsense in the group, I guarantee you won’t see today’s sunset 🙂

Finally, Jiang Shi dragged Jiang Lele by the back of his collar out of the training room like a bully, tossed him into the restroom, and locked the door with a sharp click.

Jiang Lele tried to resist but was easily subdued, his arm twisted behind his back as Jiang Shi escorted him like a helpless little chick.

The team members were so used to their antics that they didn’t even blink. When Jiang Lele tried to grab Yu Hui’s arm for help, Yu Hui calmly pulled his hand back and gave him a “may fate be kind on you” look.

In the restroom stall, under Jiang Shi’s intimidation, Jiang Lele had no choice but to surrender and backtrack his statement in the group chat:

[Little White Hair’s Dad]: I was talking nonsense earlier. Little White Hair didn’t sleep with Xu. He just woke up and is full of energy, strong enough to punch a cow to death.

That fist was still hovering threateningly over his head.

After Jiang Lele sent his message, Jiang Shi followed up with his own:

[Your Dad Is Here]: Are you all this bored? Finished your winter break homework yet? Haven’t lost enough ranked matches in your games? Figured out how to answer relatives asking about your grades and salary during New Year?

[Your Dad Is Here]: Also, I’m going to knock on Xu’s door now. You’re all my sons. Each of you, send me a voice message calling me “Dad”. I’m waiting.

[Looks like he really didn’t sleep. This little idiot even came back to settle accounts with us.]

[Lame.]

[Kick him out. He’s an eyesore.]

[And the one who lied about having military intelligence. Admin, kick him out too.]

Before Jiang Shi could receive anything, a prompt suddenly popped on hsi screen.

[You have been removed from the group chat]

Jiang Lele looked at Jiang Shi, who was gritting his teeth, and complained pitifully, “I got kicked out too.”

His granary… gone just like that… boohoo….

Jiang Shi sneered at his expression. “Jiang Lele, I haven’t even started settling the score with you, and you’re already feeling sorry for yourself?”

Jiang Lele looked terrified and instinctively reached for the door latch to escape. But Jiang Shi quickly leaned against the door, blocking it, and said with a sinister smile, “Today, not even the King of Heaven can save you.”

But the next second, there was a knock on the door.

“Are you done talking?”

It was Xu’s voice, calm and seemingly standing just outside.

Jiang Shi went silent for a moment. Just as he was about to pretend no one was inside, Jiang Lele shouted, “Captain, help! Little White Hair wants to kill me to silence me!”

Xie Xu chuckled. “Silence you for what?”

“He’s afraid people will find out he slept with you—”

Before Jiang Lele could finish, Jiang Shi covered his mouth, muffling his words.

Jiang Shi gritted his teeth. “Shut up!”

Jiang Lele, clearly sensing Jiang Shi’s murderous intent, widened his eyes and mumbled, “Captain, Captain…”

He even started calling him “Dad” in desperation.

Jiang Shi’s face was blank as he said coldly, “Calling me Dad won’t help you.”

Just as he was debating whether to use duct tape from his pocket or toilet paper to seal Jiang Lele’s mouth, Xie Xu knocked on the door again, unhurriedly.

Jiang Shi froze, clearly unhappy as he pursed his lips.

He knew that if Xie Xu insisted on taking Jiang Lele out, there was no way he could keep scaring him.

The two sides silently faced off for a moment. Jiang Shi didn’t move against Jiang Lele anymore, and Xie Xu didn’t make any noise from outside.

Half a minute later, Xie Xu spoke first, but his words left Jiang Shi stunned.

“Jiang Shi was drunk last night and mistook my room for his. I let him stay for the night,” Xu said with a hint of helplessness in his tone. “He’s just thin-skinned, Lele. Don’t make things up.”

As soon as Xu finished speaking, Jiang Lele’s cries for help stopped abruptly. He even looked up in disbelief at the so-called “thin-skinned” Jiang Shi.

Jiang Shi understood the expression immediately and glared back fiercely. “What are you looking at?!”

But his ears were flushed red, completely undermining his earlier lethality.

Jiang Lele: “?”

Jiang Shi turned his head back and pushed him away, forbidding him from looking any further.

However, he still didn’t open the door.

Letting Jiang Lele out now would be way too embarrassing.

Outside the bathroom, Xie Xu looked at the door thoughtfully, his gaze slightly darkening.

They had been “talking” for quite some time now.

Still, Xie Xu’s tone remained gentle. “Jiang Shi, you drank quite a bit last night. I made some honey water to help with the hangover, it’s in my thermos.”

After a pause, he added, “If you don’t drink it, I’ll give it to Yuan Yang.”

As soon as Xu finished speaking, there was a click as the lock turned. The tightly shut door opened briefly before slamming shut again.

Jiang Shi flew out of the stall like a gust of wind. “No, I’ll drink it!”

T/N:

Remember my question from ch 52?

No matter how dead Jiang Shi is, Jiang Lele will be deader. If Jiang Shi is so dead no words can describe it, Jiang Lele is so dead that no Gods can save him.
