Zhao Jinxin took Li Shuo to a music bar in the resort area. With the resort already sparsely populated, the restaurant and bar business was even more dismal in this season. When they entered, there wasn’t a single customer.

The bar owner, who was also the chef, was a burly German man. His wife, the bartender, was slender, and they looked surprisingly well-matched.

The two sat in the most secluded corner. As it was dinner time, Zhao Jinxin ordered their house specialty—roast goose leg—along with two dozen beers. He asked Li Shuo, “How’s your alcohol tolerance?”

“I don’t drink often. But I can handle it,” Li Shuo answered, leaving some room for caution. The last time he just took some medicine and slept for a few hours, Zhao Jinxin had crawled into his bed. If he got drunk today, who knew what might happen. Fortunately, it was just beer. He had never been drunk on beer before.

“This place has over twenty types of beer. I ordered the one they brew themselves; it has a very rich flavour and a relatively high alcohol content. But beer is beer after all. It won’t get you that drunk.” Zhao Jinxin smirked. “Don’t worry. I won’t get you drunk unless you have a reason to be.”

Li Shuo felt a bit embarrassed. It was as if his thoughts had been seen through. He said plainly, “I won’t get drunk.”

The roast goose leg arrived quickly. Li Shuo looked at the enormous size of it and suddenly lost his appetite, wondering how such a goose grew to be so large.

Zhao Jinxin cut off a piece of goose leg and brought it to Li Shuo’s mouth. “Try it, it’s really good.”

Li Shuo hesitated but then opened his mouth to eat. The flavour of the spices was strong. But the meat was tender and juicy. It was indeed delicious.

“Here.” Zhao Jinxin forked up another piece.

Li Shuo pressed his hand down. “I can do it myself.”

“When I was injured, you fed me. Now that my hand is almost healed, it’s time to return the favour.” Zhao Jinxin wiggled his fingers, which the bumps were mostly deflated.

Li Shuo smiled. “But my hands are just fine.” He began eating on his own.

Zhao Jinxin licked his lips. “If only you were mine, I’d give you a perfect date.”

“Let’s not debate whether this is a date. But what constitutes a perfect date in your opinion? I’m curious.”

Zhao Jinxin countered, “How do you usually go on dates?”

“It depends on what the other person likes.”

“What if it’s me? Where would you take me?”

Li Shuo squinted slightly. “Why do you ask?”

“Your mother said you were very popular growing up and dated quite a few boyfriends. I want to know if you’re really that experienced,” Zhao Jinxin’s lips curved into a mischievous smile, “or if you’re just a pretty face with no charm.”

Li Shuo knew Zhao Jinxin was provoking him. But men tend to compete even over trivial matters. He lightly wiped his mouth with a napkin and smiled, “Alright, I’ll ask you three questions. Answer honestly, and I’ll give you a ‘perfect’ date.”

“Go ahead.”

“What kind of cuisine do you like? What type of art do you enjoy? Do you prefer quiet or lively places?”

“I like heavy, high-calorie food. I enjoy calligraphy, classical music, and rock music. I like cold weapons and modern art involving metal. I prefer lively places.”

Li Shuo cleared his throat, “In the morning after a good night’s sleep, I’ll pick you up around 10. We’ll go to Queens to see an art exhibition. For lunch, I’ll take you to a Mexican restaurant to try their liqueurs. After lunch, you’ll need a break, so I’ll take you to a classical music club, where you can nap in a private room with classical music. When you wake up, they offer authentic English afternoon tea. If you’re not too full for dinner, we can visit New York’s largest independent designer home decor centre to see some interesting and functional metal art furniture. Or, if you’re up for it, we can go to an underground rock music bar. Finally, I’ll take you home.” He finished in one breath, looking confidently at Zhao Jinxin.

Zhao Jinxin didn’t comment but raised an eyebrow, “My turn. Answer three questions: what’s your favourite position? Preferred setting? Any special kinks?”

Li Shuo was stunned. He felt a bit angry. He had seriously thought about what would make a perfect date. But Zhao Jinxin exposed his true nature in just three questions! He exhaled through his nose and was too annoyed to respond.

“Hey, answer me,” Zhao Jinxin said innocently, “I’m serious too. Wouldn’t sex be part of a date? You don’t want to answer because you’re afraid I’ll outdo you?”

Li Shuo replied patiently, “These are personal matters. I don’t want to answer.”

“If you don’t answer, I’ll guess.”

“Zhao Jinxin…” Li Shuo grabbed a beer and poured it into Zhao Jinxin’s glass, “You should drink more and talk less.”

Zhao Jinxin picked up the glass, clinked it against Li Shuo’s, and downed it in one gulp. As soon as the glass hit the table, he said, “I guess your favourite position is doggy style, you like semi-public private settings like an office, and while I can’t guess your exact kinks, I know most of them are things you wouldn’t admit to or dare to try.”

Li Shuo stared at Zhao Jinxin. He was speechless for a moment.

Zhao Jinxin had guessed everything correctly!

Zhao Jinxin laughed heartily, “I got it right, didn’t I? Don’t back out now.”

Li Shuo, a bit embarrassed and angry, snapped, “Why do you need to guess these things?”

“You should ask how I guessed,” Zhao Jinxin chuckled with his shoulders shaking. “The first one is a matter of probability. I just took a wild guess. Most gay men prefer that position; it’s easy and comfortable.” Zhao Jinxin shrugged. “Perfect for amateurs.”

Li Shuo clenched his fists, feeling an urge to punch him.

“The second and third can be explained together. You have many wild thoughts inside, but you’re restrained by tradition, culture, and your identity. You’ve always suppressed them deliberately. And given your preference for someone like Li Chengxiu, you’re too embarrassed to mention any slightly unusual kinks. The office is a perfect place—it lets you experience the thrill of being in a public place while being safe enough to match your cautious nature.”

Li Shuo’s face darkened. Being hit in the heart with every word felt terrible, especially coming from someone nearly a decade younger. He felt ashamed, even though he hadn’t done anything. “Stop talking, or I’ll leave right now.”

Zhao Jinxin patted his hand soothingly. “Don’t be angry. Aren’t we discussing dating?”

“I’m the one talking about dating. But you’re talking about sex.”

“Sex is part of dating. Honestly, all the eating, listening to music, and visiting exhibitions—aren’t men’s ultimate goals to get into bed?” Zhao Jinxin’s eyes sparkled mischievously as he leaned forward, lowering his voice. “Giving you an unforgettable sexual experience is better than ten perfect dates.”

Li Shuo couldn’t help but laugh. “Forget it. You are who you are. It’s pointless to argue with you.”

“Aren’t we a perfect match? During the day, we’ll date according to your plan, and at night, we’ll make love according to mine.” Zhao Jinxin licked his lips lightly. “With me, every day will be new and exciting.”

Li Shuo didn’t respond. He found himself somewhat tempted by Zhao Jinxin’s proposal.

He knew Zhao Jinxin was right. Being with someone bold, fun, and playful would be thrilling. However, he didn’t like feeling led by the nose. Besides, he already had…-

He smiled bitterly to himself. He had just been ‘broken up’ with today…

He had indeed been in many relationships and could face endings rationally and calmly.

Thinking back, the most heartbreaking relationship was with his college boyfriend. They had planned to go to Africa together and envisioned many meaningful things together. But his boyfriend chose a Wall Street offer in the end. For the then-confused and lost Li Shuo, it wasn’t just a breach of their emotional commitment but a betrayal of his beliefs. Of course, now that he was mature, he completely understood his boyfriend’s choice and recognized his own selfishness and naivety. Unfortunately, the past was gone, and time could not be reversed.

Li Chengxiu’s decision to break up felt like an inevitable fate. Their relationship had been fragile and precarious from the start. He could accept that he hadn’t been able to win over Li Chengxiu and could adjust to the sense of failure. However, he hadn’t expected Li Chengxiu to leave without a word. Losing him in his own home and under his watch was something he had to take responsibility for.

He sighed softly, “Jinxin, I don’t doubt what you’re saying at all. But I’m not in the mood to discuss this right now.”

“I understand. I know what you want to talk about, your emotional failures?”

Li Shuo took a sip of his drink. His eyes darkened. It was as if they were covered by a thin layer of mist. “I really don’t understand why my relationships always fail.

Zhao Jinxin stood up and sat next to Li Shuo, comfortably leaning back on the sofa as he smiled, “It’s obviously because you chose the wrong partners.”

“That’s just a pointless statement,” Li Shuo said with a bitter smile.

“What I mean is, you chose the wrong type of partner. Someone like Li Chengxiu is completely unsuitable for you. What you want isn’t really a Li Chengxiu. You just want a stable life and you think only a homebody like Li Chengxiu can give you that.”

Li Shuo fell silent. He indeed thought that way.

“Your thinking was wrong from the start.” Zhao Jinxin leaned slightly towards him. “If you don’t love someone enough, there’s nothing to support a stable life. Moreover, if you’re not even sexually compatible, breaking up is just a matter of time.”

Li Shuo sneered, “Then who do you think is suitable for me?”

“Someone who lets you unleash yourself.” Zhao Jinxin whispered into Li Shuo’s ear, “Like me.”

Li Shuo turned his head slightly, “Forgive me for being blunt, Jinxin, but someone like you is only good for sex.”

“Then let’s start with sex. It’s not a bad thing after all.”

Li Shuo put down his glass, downing several drinks in quick succession. He could already feel his blood heating up. “You keep trying to steer the conversation your way. I don’t want to talk with you anymore. It’s getting dark, let’s go back.” He said, starting to stand up.

Zhao Jinxin suddenly pressed down on his shoulder, forcing him back into his seat, “Li Shuo, what are you avoiding me for? Are you so afraid of me?”

“Me? Why should I be afraid of you?”

“You clearly have feelings for me but keep pretending otherwise. Before, you rejected me because you had a boyfriend. Now that you’ve broken up, what excuse do you have?”

Li Shuo looked at Zhao Jinxin, looking utterly shocked. He had never seen Zhao Jinxin so aggressive before. Previously, even when he was pestering and being unreasonable, it was more playful. Now there was a kind of domineering forcefulness that made him feel a bit flustered.

He pushed Zhao Jinxin away, regretting coming for drinks. Perhaps he overestimated the steadiness his age brought him and underestimated Zhao Jinxin. For the first time, he realised this person was dangerous.

Zhao Jinxin’s hand suddenly reached under the table, grabbing something in between his legs.

Li Shuo was startled. His eyes widening with anger as he hissed, “Zhao Jinxin!” He grabbed Zhao Jinxin’s wrist and tightened his grip suddenly.

Despite the pain, Zhao Jinxin didn’t let go. Instead, he gave a seductive smile, “Enjoy it. It’s free, after all.”

Li Shuo glanced nervously at the bar counter. The owner and his wife were chatting and didn’t notice them. The bar had gained two more tables of customers, but they were far from them. Still, Li Shuo’s heart pounded fiercely. He was afraid to make any big movements for fear of being discovered.

Zhao Jinxin’s technique was indescribable.

Li Shuo hadn’t done this for a long time. So, his body began to tremble uncontrollably. He instinctively bent forward.

Zhao Jinxin’s lips brushed against his cheek. His warm breath made contact as he whispered, “Feels good, doesn’t it? They might discover us, discover you, a well-dressed person, doing this in a place where others can’t see.” He chuckled softly, “But what does it matter? You’re enjoying it, aren’t you? You like it, right?”

Li Shuo breathed heavily. His chest trembled slightly. He feared being watched, but the audacity of the act stirred a deep excitement within him. He had never experienced such a sensation before. This… feeling of doing something kinda wrong.

Zhao Jinxin whispered softly, “Baby, you can fully experience everything now. You’re already 34; how long will you keep suppressing yourself?”

Li Shuo bit his lip, letting out two low coughs from his throat. He clearly struggled to hold back something from within him. It was so much so that he was reluctant to even speak.

Zhao Jinxin used his unhealed fingers to grip Li Shuo’s chin. He then forcefully sealed his lips.

Unlike the gentle kiss from earlier, Zhao Jinxin’s actions were rough and domineering. He sucked fiercely on Li Shuo’s soft lips. His tongue plunged in and wreaked havoc inside Li Shuo’s mouth. It felt less like kissing and more like an invasion.

Li Shuo’s gaze began to grow somewhat dazed. The sensory stimulation was climbing and the fervent kiss only intensified the overwhelming passion. It caused him to lose control and become addicted.

It had been a long time since he felt such unrestrained pleasure, Li Shuo thought. He suddenly relaxed his mind and his stiff body decided to fully enjoy the new experience Zhao Jinxin was giving him.

In this small tavern in an unfamiliar city, in this corner, under the cover of just a wooden table, Li Shuo ejaculated in the hands of Zhao Jinxin.

This might be the most uninhibited and shameful thing he’s ever done in his life. But he actually feels—quite exhilarated.

Zhao Jinxin withdrew his hand from under the table and gently wiped his palm with a napkin, admiring the enticing flush on Li Shuo’s face. This man… is truly delectable.

Li Shuo’s eyelashes fluttered lightly. His head sank as if his neck couldn’t bear the weight, continually drooping. He could feel Zhao Jinxin’s gaze. But he needed to compose himself.

Zhao Jinxin bit Li Shuo’s ear playfully, “Li Shushu, are you feeling shy?”

Li Shuo lifted his head. The corner of his eyelashes was damp. His lips were reddened from the kisses, creating an involuntary tension in the lower abdomen. He looked at Zhao Jinxin, masking the turmoil within with calm, “You really have some nerve.”

“But you liked it.”

“…It was alright.”

“Is that so?” Zhao Jinxin opened his hand, placing his slender fingertips near his mouth, lightly licking off something suspicious. Li Shuo’s face instantly flushed. There was a hint of awkwardness flickered in his eyes.

Zhao Jinxin revealed a triumphant smile, “Do you want to go to the hotel like a man, or go home to sleep like a coward?”

Li Shuo gazed at him deeply, “Between us…”

“It’s just sex.” Zhao Jinxin blinked innocently.

“…Let’s go to the hotel.”
