Concentrating was impossible. And it would likely remain impossible for the rest of his life.

As Zhou Zhou wrote down the knowledge he had just memorised on the paper, memories of a morning several months ago resurfaced.

It was from the previous semester, nearing the end of the term. The weather was very cold. It had snowed heavily the night before and the snow on the streets hadn’t been cleared yet. Zhou Zhou stumbled along the road, clutching his warm breakfast to keep his hands from freezing.

He had woken up early that day because he wanted to visit the small shed behind the school wall to feed the puppies.

There were two little stray puppies there, seemingly abandoned. Students had heard the puppies’ cries during lunch break a few weeks back and rushed downstairs to see a white one and a brown one huddled by the school fence.

The young Alpha boys immediately found some wooden boards and sheet metal, borrowed tools from the maintenance department, and constructed a small shed inside the school fence. Then, they had the Alpha students standing outside the fence hand the puppies over, placing them in the shelter.

It had been over two weeks since they were placed there. Zhou Zhou and Yu Yang would often bring sausages and buns to feed them. However, every time they went, they found that the two puppies had already been well-fed by other Alphas. So, over time, Zhou Zhou mostly went just to play with them, not bothering to bring food anymore.

But today was different. Zhou Zhou had intentionally woken up early, knowing it was a cold snowy day. He had even brought two old jackets from home, planning to cushion the puppies with them.

Panting, Zhou Zhou made his way around the teaching building and reached the area below the school wall. The ground was covered in a pristine layer of white snow, but a row of footprints had already been neatly imprinted in it.

Someone beat me here! Zhou Zhou thought indignantly, then followed the footprints with his gaze.

He saw an Alpha squatting in front of the small shed. Despite being in a squatting position, Zhou Zhou could tell he was quite tall. He wore a padded coat over his school uniform pants, wrapped a scarf around his neck, concealing most of his face, leaving only a furry head visible.

Zhou Zhou took a couple more steps toward the wall and hid behind a tree. Finally, he managed to catch a glimpse of the Alpha’s profile.

He didn’t need to think twice. The distinctive contours of that superior profile told him it was Cheng Che.

Cheng Che was a well-known Alpha throughout the school, excelling in both academics and looks. Unlike most Alphas who were robust, his body was lean and elegant. Zhou Zhou had often wondered if this school were not an Alpha training center but a regular high school, many Omegas would be chasing after Cheng Che. In reality, even though this school didn’t have Omegas, it didn’t stop Omegas from other schools from admiring Cheng Che. They would wait at the school gate, send love letters and small gifts, and even Betas from another district of the same school couldn’t resist casting a glance at Cheng Che when entering or leaving school.

Zhou Zhou hadn’t delved deeply into understanding Cheng Che before, feeling that he was quite distant from himself. Cheng Che always seemed aloof. He was worlds apart from Zhou Zhou’s playful and carefree nature. But truth be told, Zhou Zhou had a genuine appreciation for Cheng Che. Someone with Cheng Che’s qualities, who didn’t carry an air of arrogance or show off, was likeable just based on personality alone.

Cheng Che squatted in front of the small shed, tore open a sausage and placed it in a small dish. He then took out a bag of milk from his pocket and poured it into a small bowl. The milk emitted steam, indicating it was still warm.

The two little puppies were shivering as they ate and drank. Cheng Che took out a sweater from his paper bag. He reached over the puppies. His hand entered the shed and after a bit of arranging, he pulled his hand back and took out a towel to cushion them. Then, he gently moved the two puppies a bit further into the small shed to a warmer spot for them to eat. Next, he took out a bun and tore a small piece. He then put it in the warm milk. Cheng Che watched as the puppies devoured their food. His expression seemed very gentle. He extended his hand to gently stroke the puppies’ heads. His hand was slender, with fair skin that surpassed snow.

At that moment, Zhou Zhou had only one thought: gentle people are the most moving.

The contrast between Cheng Che’s usual image and his current gentleness made Zhou Zhou not just moved but also deeply touched.

It wasn’t a thrilling scene. It was just in this quiet and cold snowy landscape that Zhou Zhou happened to catch a glimpse of gentleness, which resonated with him.

At that time, Zhou Zhou had recently become an Omega and was still struggling with when to confess to the school and transfer. But standing under the snow-covered tree, looking through the pristine snow at the boy not far away, who was holding a puppy and playing with it, Zhou Zhou suddenly felt; Can I get a bit closer to that person? Can I also be treated gently by him like this?

He had experienced the torment of heat cycles. But it wasn’t severe and he had promptly used suppressants. However, Zhou Zhou still had lingering fears. He understood too well the helplessness that came with being controlled by one’s nature. The genes imprinted in his bones would make him lose control during a heat cycle, as if, at that moment, any Alpha’s appearance would make him willingly and eagerly give himself up. He would surrender everything, just to experience the heat cycle without a care in the world.

But Zhou Zhou didn’t want it that way. What he hoped for was that during his heat cycle, the person by his side would be someone he loved, someone he chose solely through the depths of his heart, without considering any other factors. He wanted a connection that went beyond and above genetic instincts.

Zhou Zhou quietly watched Cheng Che. The emotions in his heart were like a snowstorm, swirling over and over before finally settling gently in his heart, giving him a bit of courage.

Cheng Che lowered his eyes, watching the puppy in his arms. The puppy lifted its head and whimpered, directing its gaze at him. He looked into the puppy’s dark and moist eyes and thoughts of someone crossed his mind, causing him to smile involuntarily.

His teeth were perfectly aligned. But Zhou Zhou faintly noticed that Cheng Che’s left canine tooth had a shape resembling a tiger’s fang. It was sharp, not as protruding as typical tiger fangs, but it carried a wild and untamed flavour.

A chill ran down Zhou Zhou’s spine.

Almost instinctively, he thought, what would it feel like if Cheng Che used those fangs to mark me?

Damn it, Zhou Zhou clenched his fist. Genetics were indeed at play; he could think of marking in any situation.

But if it was Cheng Che

Three words echoed in Zhou Zhou’s mind: I’m ready.

He stood quietly behind the tree, watching as Cheng Che placed the puppy back in the shed. Cheng Che then got up. His side profile was tall and elegant, resembling a beautiful tree standing in the snowy landscape. Cheng Che tidied up and headed in the direction of the school building.

After Cheng Che left, Zhou Zhou, with a wandering mind, approached the small shed. He took out his old clothes and carefully stuffed them inside, filling the empty spaces. Then, he squatted on the ground, looking at the doghouse. He really wanted to take Cheng Che’s sweater out of there and secretly bring it home.

How perverted, Zhou Zhou thought. He then he burst into laughter. He crouched in front of the doghouse, happily eating his breakfast.

Cheng Che returned to his classroom and didn’t even put his bag down. He stood by the window with his hands in his pockets, peering through the crack in the window at the figure below the wall. The person was crouched in the deep snow, burying his head while eating breakfast. His head moved like that of a little puppy.

“A beautiful little wildcat,” Cheng Che mumbled softly to himself while watching the silhouette. “Also, an obedient little puppy.”

Then he smiled, revealing his subtly pointed tiger fangs.
