Zhou Zhou climbed the stairs and quietly approached the door of the study room where he and Cheng Che had spent time together last time. He sneaked a peek and saw Cheng Che sitting in the same window-side seat as before, engrossed in his book. The curtains swayed gently in the breeze, casting alternating patterns of light and shadow on Cheng Che’s side profile. It made him look both clear and elusive.
Cheng Che reached out to adjust the curtain and then turned to look outside. The wind ruffled his hair. Zhou Zhou could almost imagine Cheng Che’s expression right now. Probably with closed eyes, enjoying the pleasant breeze.
In reality, Cheng Che was gazing at the trees below, recalling the sight of that head he had glimpsed at the study room entrance just a moment ago. A hint of a smile was displayed at the corner of his lips.
Zhou Zhou ran his fingers through his hair and clenched his fist. He lightly tapped the wall to gather his courage. Then, with a lowered head, he quickly walked over. He brushed against Cheng Che’s desk. He then sat in the seat that was one away from Cheng Che. After calming his racing heart, he softly called out, “Cheng Che.”
Cheng Che turned his head.
He hadn’t expected it, but there it was.
His gaze lingered on Zhou Zhou’s pink and tender sweater.
Zhou Zhou was gripping a pen between his teeth. He was slightly hunched over and he didn’t dare to meet Cheng Che’s eyes. The wind blew his hair aside, revealing his fair forehead. His soft fair skin, framed by the pink sweater, had a faint blush. Especially his lips, which were red and plump, like flowers blooming in the snow. His neck was slender and beautiful. A glimpse of his collarbone was visible beneath the round neckline, exquisitely attractive as if it were carved.
Cheng Che was relieved that Zhou Zhou didn’t dare to lift his head to meet his gaze at the moment. Or else, he was sure Zhou Zhou would be startled by his intense stare.
He turned his head and shifted his gaze to his book, calmly asking, “Did you bring the practice papers?”
“I did.”
Zhou Zhou touched his nose and pulled out the completed practice papers to hand them over. He felt a bit frustrated. Why hadn’t Cheng Che asked him to sit next to him? Also, he couldn’t believe Cheng Che didn’t seem to react at all to how he was dressed.
Saying he wasn’t disheartened would be a lie. Zhou Zhou slumped over his desk with a bit of disappointment and asked in a muffled tone, “So, what do I do next?”
“I’ve marked the key points for you to study,” Cheng Che said, picking up a textbook. “Take it to memorise. I’ll start grading your practice papers.”
As Cheng Che handed over the textbook, halfway through, his hand lingered in the air. He glanced at the empty seat next to him and said, “Come over here.”
Zhou Zhou immediately moved to Cheng Che’s side like a little dog summoned by its owner. He gained some courage and casually asked while flipping through the book, “Do you think I look good in this sweater?”
He realised what he had asked only after it came out of his mouth. Damn, he was being way too direct! Why couldn’t he control himself better?!
Yu Yang’s words, “You look so flirtatious,” began to play on a 3D surround digital system sound on a loop in Zhou Zhou’s ears.
Cheng Che’s hand holding the pen hesitated for a moment. He then lightly tapped the pen on the practice paper. He turned his head to look at Zhou Zhou and said straightforwardly, “You look very beautiful.”
Okay.
“You look so flirtatious”.mp3 paused and was removed from the playlist.
“You look very beautiful”.mp3 was added to the playlist and played in a continuous loop.
Zhou Zhou couldn’t find the words to describe his current emotions. He just felt his heart beating rapidly, as if it might leap out of his chest at any moment. Damn it, maybe Yu Yang was right. Alphas really liked this kind of thing.
Zhou Zhou tried to suppress the passionate turmoil within him and repeatedly reminded himself: purity, dignity, fragility, no provocativeness, no wantonness!
He wasn’t in the mood to study chemistry anymore today. He kept fidgeting and just wanted to chat with Cheng Che. However, Cheng Che was focused on grading the papers.
Zhou Zhou was restless. He hadn’t brought any snacks today. His attention was scattered and he appeared fidgety.
Cheng Che’s pen tapped the paper twice, making a ‘thud-thud’ sound.
In an instant, Zhou Zhou quieted down. His heart started racing again. It was not from excitement. But from nervousness and fear. He felt like he might be disturbing Cheng Che, bothering him.
Cheng Che turned to him and pushed a graded paper toward Zhou Zhou. “Page 47 of the textbook. It covers the concepts related to the questions you got wrong on the test. Try to review it and see if you can figure it out yourself.”
Zhou Zhou nodded. “Alright.”
Cheng Che looked at his slightly frustrated expression. He pursed his lips and then said, “Be good. I’m going to take a nap. Try to correct it yourself. And if you can’t, wake me up.”
Zhou Zhou didn’t really catch what was said. He was only utterly captivated by the words, ‘be good.’
“I understand, I understand,” he was completely charmed by those words and nodded absentmindedly. “You can go to sleep. I…I…I won’t bother you…”
“I don’t find you bothersome,” Cheng Che replied. He placed his hands on the desk and leaned slightly towards the window. His voice drifted along the breeze into Zhou Zhou’s ears. “If you need anything, just call me.”
“Okay,” Zhou Zhou finally settled down and began to focus on correcting the questions diligently.

*Translator’s Note: I hate Chemistry as well. Even if a handsome Alpha I’m into wants to tutor me, I won’t be willing. Zhou Zhou is more determined than I am, I guess. -K
