After fussing around at home for a while, Zhou Zhou finally decided to leave. He had arranged to meet Cheng Che at a dessert shop inside a mall. Zhou Zhou arrived ten minutes early.

However, Cheng Che had arrived even earlier.

As soon as Zhou Zhou entered, he spotted Cheng Che’s slender figure standing at the counter, perusing the menu amid the sweet and fragrant aroma that filled the air.

Cheng Che was dressed simply. He was wearing black tapered work pants and a military-green shirt jacket. From behind, his shoulders appeared broad and his legs were long and straight.

Zhou Zhou couldn’t help but think that he wanted to go from being close to Cheng Che by his hands to being close by his legs sooner or later.

He tidied up his slightly dishevelled hair and walked up behind Cheng Che. He patted his shoulder, saying, “Cheng Che!”

Cheng Che turned around and lowered his gaze to the shorter Zhou Zhou. He pursed his lips into a smile. “Why did you come early?”

“You came even earlier!” Zhou Zhou stood next to Cheng Che at the counter. “What are you going to have?”

“Strawberry milkshake.”

Zhou Zhou couldn’t help but feel his heart race when he heard Cheng Che mention strawberry milkshake. He thought for a moment and then said, “Then I’ll have a mango tiramisu and a banana milkshake.”

Cheng Che was about to pay with his phone when the cute omega store clerk smiled and said, “Would you two like to get a membership card? We have a couples’ card promotion in our store right now. Both cards have the same number and linked balance. If you recharge with 500 yuan, you’ll get an extra 50 yuan.”

“No, no, no…” Zhou Zhou quickly declined. He was afraid that Cheng Che might react negatively. “We’re just friends. How can two alphas get a couples’ card? Thank you. But we don’t need that. Just these items, how much in total?”

Cheng Che remained silent. His thumb was scraping the surface of his phone case repeatedly.

“You’re the one without self-awareness,” Cheng Che’s expression seemed a bit aloof and even his faint pheromones carried a hint of coldness.

Zhou Zhou stared at him, suddenly feeling a bit awkward. Cheng Che had clearly mentioned several times that he wanted a strawberry milkshake. So why did he seem unhappy now?

What made Zhou Zhou even sadder was that Cheng Che hadn’t finished his strawberry milkshake earlier.

Zhou Zhou thought that maybe Cheng Che didn’t like strawberry milkshakes anymore. What should he do? His pheromones were strawberry milkshake-scented. If Cheng Che found out in the future, would he dislike Zhou Zhou even more?

They had dinner at a Japanese restaurant and then walked out of the mall to hail a taxi.

Zhou Zhou kept his eyes on the ground. He had so much he wanted to say and so many questions to ask. But he didn’t dare to be too outspoken in front of Cheng Che. So, he had to hold everything in, leaving his face filled with bitterness and frustration.

“Be careful on your way home,” Zhou Zhou scuffed his shoe against the ground. He then spoke in a muffled voice. “I don’t know why you’re unhappy. If it’s because of me, I won’t randomly invite you to hang out anymore. I’m sorry for taking up your whole day…”

Cheng Che looked at Zhou Zhou, who was muttering with his head down. He nodded, saying, “Hmm.”

Did he just say ‘Hmm’? Even if he was really unhappy, he could just turn and leave. Why respond with a ‘Hmm’!

“Why are you just ‘Hmm’-ing?” Zhou Zhou was completely provoked by Cheng Che’s ‘Hmm’. He suddenly raised his head. His eyes red as he looked at Cheng Che. “Can’t you talk about what’s bothering you? Zhou Zhou was bewildered for a few seconds, trying to find the reason. “But you never mentioned coming to my house to help me study…”

“I’m mentioning it now,” Cheng Che took the book from Zhou Zhou’s hand. “Let’s go. Let’s go to your house.”

As Zhou Zhou sat in the taxi, his head was still spinning. Cheng Che had never brought up the idea of coming to his house to tutor him. And now he was blaming Zhou Zhou for being too playful?

What did I do that’s so playful? I’ve been taking care of your mood all afternoon!

The more Zhou Zhou thought about it, the angrier he became. He turned away from Cheng Che and looked out of the window, refusing to acknowledge him.

Cheng Che tilted his head slightly to glance at Zhou Zhou’s sulking back. He then pursed his lips into a smile and turned his head back to the front.
