Zhou Zhou had a terrible weekend. First, on Saturday, he went out to eat with Cheng Che, who seemed unhappy. That made him upset as well. In the evening, for some inexplicable reason, they shared a kiss. However, after the kiss, Cheng Che left him hanging. Then on Sunday, he didn’t receive a single message from Cheng Che for the whole day.

Numerous grievances and a sense of hopelessness piled up in his chest. Zhou Zhou sat at his desk, looking at Cheng Che’s workbook. He smelled a faint scent of minty sake that clung to it. He felt miserable.

He opened a drawer and took out a suppressant. He checked the date on his phone to ensure the thirty-day cycle had ended. Without hesitation, he injected it into his own vein despite his eyes betraying his deep sense of desolation.

He actually wanted to use a regular suppressant like other omegas. But he had no choice. He had to continue studying in this school full of alphas. He had promised that he would stay until he successfully pursued Cheng Che.

He thought that Cheng Che might have had something to do and wasn’t in the classroom, but when the first and second periods ended, he realised Cheng Che wasn’t there at all.

Zhou Zhou stopped an alpha student from Class Five and cautiously asked, “Um, where’s Cheng Che?”

“Cheng Che? He didn’t come to school. I don’t know why. Maybe he has something going on,” the student replied.

Zhou Zhou was at a loss. While he understood that Cheng Che wouldn’t skip school just because they kissed, he couldn’t help but feel upset again about what happened on Saturday night.

He was also very worried that something might have happened to Cheng Che. After thanking the alpha, he rushed back to the classroom. He secretly took out his phone and, after some contemplation, mustered the courage to send Cheng Che a WeChat message.

But all he saw were unrelated messages. His mood grew increasingly disappointed. Ultimately, he was thoroughly upset.

Yet Zhou Zhou still held onto hope. When he went to the office to ask questions, he deliberately inquired with Class Five’s homeroom teacher, “Teacher, did Cheng Che not come to school today? I have a few chemistry papers I’d like him to help me with.”

The homeroom teacher took a sip of water and replied, “Oh, Cheng Che He’s taken a few days off. He didn’t tell me the specific reason. But there must be something going on.”

Zhou Zhou knew the homeroom teacher wouldn’t probe too much into the reasons for an outstanding student like Cheng Che taking a leave. They typically just allowed it. Zhou Zhou figured he might never find out the reason for Cheng Che’s absence, especially considering that Cheng Che wasn’t even responding on WeChat.

On the way back to the classroom, Zhou Zhou bumped into Yu Yang, who also appeared disheartened.

“What’s wrong with you?” Zhou Zhou asked, sounding weary.

Yu Yang couldn’t possibly tell Zhou Zhou that he had mustered up the courage to apologise to Jin Wuqi, saying he was sorry for impulsively kissing Zhou Zhou the night before last. Yet, Jin Wuqi hadn’t replied for two whole hours. It was nerve-wracking and Yu Yang hadn’t expected to fall so quickly.

They both stood in the corridor, wearing troubled expressions for a while. Then, each went back to their respective classrooms.
