Yu Yang didn’t buy any late-night snacks. He walked to his own building, kicking pebbles along the way. When he lifted his head, he saw the familiar red sports car parked by the flower bed of his community. Jin Wuqi was leaning against the car. His sapphire-blue hair slightly changed colour under the streetlight. He looked at Yu Yang and lazily smiled, “Oh, who’s this high schooler? Still kicking pebbles while walking? Seems like a kid who hasn’t grown up yet, huh?”

Yu Yang was stunned for a second. After that, his heart started pounding rapidly. He took a step forward, looking at that face he hadn’t seen in almost half a month. His voice trembled with the heartbeat, “Didn’t you say we’ll meet on the weekend…”

“Couldn’t resist. I missed you,” Jin Wuqi, forever straightforward and teasing, smiled with a hint of mischief in his eyes. “Don’t you miss me?”

Right now, Yu Yang felt that the school romance thing was not exciting at all. It was not enjoyable at all. It was too cautious and repressive all the time!

He reached out, encircling Jin Wuqi’s waist and pulling him close. Lowering his head, he fervently kissed Jin Wuqi’s soft, rosy lips with eagerness and a hint of roughness. Yu Yang wasn’t good at sweet talk or expressing himself explicitly. But his actions were the best proof of his feelings.

Not to mention being called ‘little one’, Yu Yang wouldn’t mind even if Jin Wuqi called him a little beast. He kissed Jin Wuqi’s nose as he blushed. He unusually took the initiative to say, “I really, really wanted to see you too.”

The stubborn and tough teenager, still in his school uniform with a backpack slung over his shoulders, hadn’t made a confession deeper than this in his eighteen years of life. The confession was innocent and pure. Yu Yang didn’t know if Jin Wuqi understood the meaning behind those words. Holding Jin Wuqi’s hand, Yu Yang walked to the front door of his home. He used his other hand to unlock the door. Once inside, in the darkness, Yu Yang searched for the light switch. Then, he heard Jin Wuqi’s voice, tinged with a smile, said; “Why are you holding me so tightly? I won’t run away.”

Yu Yang only then realised how tightly he was gripping Jin Wuqi’s hand. He turned on the lights and slightly lowered his head to avoid eye contact. The living room was momentarily very quiet.

Jin Wuqi gently shook the hand that connected them. “Hmm? Yu Yang, what’s wrong?”

Yu Yang couldn’t articulate it. He desperately wanted Jin Wuqi, to the point of obsession. Now that he suddenly saw him, he couldn’t utter a single word. The courage he had summoned for the declaration “I really, really wanted to see you” downstairs had been completely depleted.

Standing there with his backpack, he remained silent and suppressed. He was completely like an awkward child, not knowing what he was struggling against.

“What should I be waiting for?” Jin Wuqi smiled, reaching to gently lift up Yu Yang’s chin. “What’s gotten into you today? Too much pressure on study?”

“Nothing. Just remember that I tell you this,” Yu Yang said sullenly. He grabbed Jin Wuqi’s hand that was playfully lifting his chin. He pulled him into his embrace. It seemed like a warning but also a stubborn demand. “You have to wait for me.”

“Alright. But not for too long,” Jin Wuqi’s lips brushed against Yu Yang’s neck as he spoke. He then smiled.

Yu Yang’s chin rested on Jin Wuqi’s shoulder. He inhaled the familiar scent of roses. He glanced sideways, noticing that the wound on the pale nape of Jin Wuqi’s neck, where the glands had been, had completely healed. The lemon soda pheromones on Jin Wuqi had also dissipated.

Indeed, it had been more than half a month. The temporary ‘mark’ that had been left was now gone. There was no trace of Yu Yang on Jin Wuqi’s body anymore.

Holding Jin Wuqi in his arms, Yu Yang took a few steps and carried him into his room. With one hand supporting Jin Wuqi’s buttocks, he used the other to turn on the light. He then walked to the desk. He reached out and swept the books on the table to the floor. Placing Jin Wuqi on the desk, he stood between his legs and, while unbuttoning Jin Wuqi’s shirt, whispered, “I already finished my homework at school.”

“Then, how about reviewing and reading a bit? You have to get up early for school tomorrow. So you need to make sure you have enough energy,” Jin Wuqi considerately suggested while reaching for Yu Yang’s lower body parts. The topic immediately changed, “Tsk, little kid, tell me. Yu Yang swallowed a mouthful of saliva, making his Adam’s apple rolled up and down. He opened his eyes and let go of Jin Wuqi. He took a step back. He stood there panting for a few seconds and then bent down to pick up his schoolbag and school uniform as he said, “If you’re tired, go take a shower. I won’t bother you anymore. Rest well.”

He paused and then stood up with his schoolbag in his arms. He asked Jin Wuqi, “Are you hungry? If you’re hungry, I’ll go buy some late-night snacks.”

Jin Wuqi was sitting on the desk. There was a faint red mark on his collarbone, which was the mark that indicated he was just bitten by Yu Yang. He looked at the young man in front of him. The young man was slender and holding his schoolbag and school uniform in his arms. He clearly felt the reaction underneath him. It was already so obvious in the school uniform pants. The pheromones on his body couldn’t be suppressed. He could stop at will and even asked Jin Wuqi if he was hungry and whether he wanted to eat late-night snacks.

* 等我长大。= Wait until I grow up/ Wait until I get bigger. Chinese use ‘大’ [da] as ‘old’ (in terms of age) but it also means ‘big’. So, that’s why Jin Wuqi responds that way. Like when you ask someone how old they are you use ‘ni duo da le?’ Which literally means ‘how big are you?’ but it actually means ‘how old are you?’ in terms of age.
