Pure happiness… Incomparable happiness…
After the self-study session ended, Zhou Zhou grabbed Yu Yang, who was about to go eat. He handed him a paper bag.
Yu Yang took a look at it and couldn’t quite make out what was inside. But he saw two plastic containers. He exclaimed in surprise, “When did you leave the school? You brought me takeout? This is so touching!”
Zhou Zhou waved his hand, “No, it’s from the convenience store. I bought twenty-three sausages.”
The convenience store owner was truly honest. He actually grilled exactly twenty-seven sausages with the money Zhou Zhou gave him.
Zhou Zhou and Cheng Che each ate two sausages. Zhou Zhou was worried that Cheng Che might associate him with sausages from then on. So he refused to eat any more sausages with him under the tree and had the owner pack the remaining ones to go.
“…” Yu Yang tried his best to free himself from Zhou Zhou’s grip and walk away. “Twenty-three sausages. They’d stretch as long as my duodenum. Do you have a grudge against me or something?”
“I didn’t say you had to finish them all in one go,” Zhou Zhou stubbornly held onto him, “Eat as many as you can.”
Yu Yang glanced at Zhou Zhou, then at the paper bag of sausages. Finally, he reluctantly returned to the classroom, preparing to eat some sausages.
“Exactly. That’s the way to do it. Just do it according to your own abilities,” Zhou Zhou followed along and entered, sitting in the seat next to Yu Yang. “Then the leftovers that you can’t finish, save them for a late-night snack. If you still can’t finish them, you can save them for tomorrow’s breakfast, lunch, dinner…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Yu Yang climbed onto the table and jumped to the window. He then bounced into the corridor. Without hesitation, he started running downstairs.
Zhou Zhou quickly reacted. He grabbed his paper bag and started chasing after him.
Cheng Che had just reached the classroom door when two gusts of wind swept by in front of him. Two figures flew past rapidly. One was crying out, “I don’t want to eat sausages, ahhh!!”
The other was advising loudly, “Eat as much as you can. Otherwise, it’s a waste, ahhh!!”
Cheng Che’s lips curved into a smile. Just as he was about to continue walking outside, someone called out to him.
“Hey, Cheng Che.”
Cheng Che turned around, “Teacher, what’s the matter?”
The chemistry teacher walked over with a bag on his back, “It’s nothing much. Just wanted to ask you. Did Zhou Zhou from Class 2 tell you anything?”
“Is it about tutoring?”
“Yes. That little guy specifically mentioned that he wants you to tutor him. I thought about it, and considering his foundation, only you can really help him. I have so many students and I can’t spare the time. Do me a favour and just spare a bit of time each day to help him with his questions. Gradually, it will add up. I don’t expect him to score exceptionally high. But at least he shouldn’t fall behind too much. Zhou Zhou’s grades in other subjects are quite good.”
Cheng Che remembered Zhou Zhou saying, “It was the chemistry teacher who asked you to help me,” on one hand. And “I’m also afraid of taking up too much of your time” on the other hand. He couldn’t help but purse his lips into a smile, lower his head, and clear his throat.
“Alright, teacher. I’ll do my best.”

Zhou Zhou carried a paper bag of cold sausages and looked at Yu Yang, who had already eaten eight sausages. Yu Yang was now leaning against a tree trunk, looking like he was about to vomit.
“Can’t eat anymore?”
“I hope I never have to see sausages again in my life.” Yu Yang slumped against the tree, exhausted. “Zhou Zhou, I’m begging you, spare me. Are you holding a grudge against me or against sausages?”
“Fine. I won’t force you.”
Zhou Zhou returned to the convenience store. Most of the students were still eating so the store was relatively empty. He placed the sausages on the counter and slid them over, saying, “Boss, here are the sausages. I can’t handle them. You can do whatever you want with them. I won’t take the money.”
The owner, who was engrossed in playing a mobile game, suddenly looked up. “What are you doing?! Returning cooked sausages? Have you ever seen someone do that?!”
“It’s not that. I really can’t finish them. I’m giving them back to you. You can do whatever you want. I don’t want any money.”
“Alright.” The owner pretended to think for a moment. “They’re just a bit cold now. I’ll heat them up later. They’ll sell out as soon as the evening self-study session starts. At most, they’ll be a bit hard. But the students won’t mind.”
Zhou Zhou smirked. “Are all Betas as unscrupulous as you?”
With the sound effects of ‘amazing’ and ‘unbelievable’ from his game, the owner glanced at Zhou Zhou and retorted, “Are all Alphas as emotionally fragile as you? Crying over some grades.”
Zhou Zhou thought to himself, “You know nothing. I’m just acting for the sake of love.”
Looking around the convenience store, he asked, “Hey boss, are you planning to open a dessert section here? Sell things like cappuccino and strawberry milkshakes?”
Without even lifting his head, the owner pointed to a shelf. “Don’t bother. We have ‘Xiang Piao Piao’ over there. They have all kinds of flavours. Don’t give me ideas about this and that. My store is only 20 square metres. Are you going to pay to build a dessert section for me?”
Zhou Zhou suspected that if they continued this conversation, either the convenience store would catch fire or he’d be driven to frustration. He turned around and walked over to Yu Yang, who was still feeling nauseous under a tree. He kicked his shoes lightly. “Let’s go back to the evening self-study session.”
Yu Yang stared blankly at the ground. His gaze unfocused. “I can’t do it. If you make me squat a bit longer, everything I see now looks like sausages.”
“And I see you as a sausage too. A 1.9-meter-long sausage, ha!” Zhou Zhou said, finishing his sentence and strolled casually toward the teaching building.
Yu Yang was left alone crouched under the tree. He involuntarily visualised the image of a ‘1.9-meter-long sausage’ in his mind. He then let out a painful dry heave.
