During National Day, Zhou Zhou happily took a break at home while Cheng Che had a tough time. He had to go to school a few days ago to finish a lab data report, and everyone in the group was studying hard anxiously.

Their travel plans were delayed by a few days. Zhou Zhou was not keen on going to crowded places during the holidays, so he avoided popular tourist spots. After discussing with Cheng Che, they decided to go to a seaside town in the neighbouring city. It was not heavily commercialised but had beautiful scenery, perfect for relaxing.

During a casual chat with Zhou Zhou, Zhou Qiao inadvertently learned about their destination. Zhou Qiao said, “Let me book the hotel. I have a friend who owns a hotel there. I’ll ask him.”

Zhou Zhou was a bit puzzled, wondering why his sister had such a wide circle of friends, even able to find a friend who owned a hotel in a small town.

***

‘Milk Shake’. Zhou Zhou looked at the unexpectedly exquisite and beautiful sign of this hotel, reading out its name. “Seems like it is ‘Milk Shake’? The name is quite interesting.”

It is indeed interesting. After learning that Zhou Qiao had booked this hotel, Cheng Che had checked it out. It was a themed hotel built by the sea. Regardless of which room you stayed in, the view was stunning, nurturing both the body and the soul.

The naive little omega was still feeling pleased about saving some hotel fees, unaware that he had been completely sold out by his dear sister. Meanwhile, his alpha remained silent, silently observing without saying a word.

Upon entering the lobby, Zhou Zhou finally realised something was off. He was wondering why the decoration of this hotel was so… unique? Then he saw a vending machine next to the front desk, large and pink, brightly lit, with about ten rows of condoms and various adult products inside. It was very bold and straightforward, standing there unapologetically.

Zhou Zhou felt like something had exploded in his head. He finally understood why his sister had been so kind as to book the hotel for him.

He tried to resist with the victim next to him, looking at Cheng Che and saying, “Something seems off. Maybe my sister tricked me. Let’s go look at other hotels?”

The other victim that Zhou Zhou thought he was, was just another perpetrator. Cheng Che calmly took out their IDs from his pocket and pushed them to the front desk. “Hello, we had a reservation. The booking was made by Zhou Qiao, phone number is 13…”

Zhou Zhou stared at Cheng Che in shock, once again lamenting the wickedness of the world. The person you thought was closest to you, was nothing but a beast in disguise.

***

They walked through the quiet, dimly lit corridor and entered the room. Zhou Zhou stood behind Cheng Che, his face flushed red. He heard Cheng Che, in a serious tone as if presenting an academic report, say, “The hospital-themed room is not as dark as the other rooms and looks cleaner and tidier.”

Zhou Zhou couldn’t help but wonder; Cheng Che, are you still human? Do you have any shame left?

Zhou Zhou reluctantly peeked out from behind Cheng Che and saw the pale pink wallpaper, the light pink and light blue cross signs everywhere, and some scientific spiral patterns resembling rays. Even the ceiling lights were made to look like surgical lights, painted in a delicate pink colour with bows tied to them.

Looking towards the balcony, Zhou Zhou saw a clothes rack with a white coat hanging on it, along with an incredibly short and revealing nurse uniform…

If you just look at the style and size, Zhou Zhou would have thought it was a short cheongsam.

This is blasphemy against medicine! Is there still hope for modern people?!

Zhou Zhou raised his head and met Cheng Che’s gaze. Although he couldn’t discern any emotion, Zhou Zhou felt it was very dangerous.

“I’m not wearing that,” Zhou Zhou shook his head frantically. “If someone has to wear it, you wear it.”

“Don’t worry, it’s still early. Let’s take a rest and have a meal first,” Cheng Che said.

Zhou Zhou breathed a sigh of relief.

But before he could fully exhale, he became puzzled.

What did “Don’t worry” mean? What did “It’s still early” mean?

Who’s in a hurry?!

***

After they had put away their luggage, they lay down to rest on the large round bed covered with rose petals and lace. Zhou Zhou felt shy for a while but soon got used to it. He picked up his phone and called Zhou Qiao, asking her why she treated her own younger brother like this.

Zhou Qiao: “I deliberately booked a room with good lighting and a good view for you two. If I really wanted to prank you, I would have booked the prison theme, the s/m theme, and the hunting theme. Those are much more intense.”

Zhou Zhou: “How do you know so much? I seriously suspect you and Uncle are partners in crime.”

Zhou Qiao hung up the phone.

Just as Zhou Zhou was feeling triumphant about winning the argument, he saw Cheng Che pull out a pink stethoscope from somewhere near the head of the bed and directly insert it into Zhou Zhou’s collar, pressing it against his chest.

Zhou Zhou was about to explode. But then he heard Cheng Che mutter to himself, “Can’t hear anything.”

Then Cheng Che took out the stethoscope, looked at it in front of his eyes, and suddenly realised, “Oh, it’s a vibrating egg.”

Whoever came up with the idea of replacing the stethoscope head with a vibrating egg, Zhou Zhou would never be able to look at a stethoscope the same way again!

***

Cheng Che, still showing some humanity, stopped after casually touching a few small toys. It was lunchtime. So the two went downstairs to find something to eat.

Walking on the quiet but not desolate street, they could hear the distant, muffled sound of the waves. The sun was still a bit intense. But fortunately, there was a breeze. So it wasn’t too hot.

Zhou Zhou loved this feeling—rather than following the crowds everywhere for sightseeing, he preferred to hide away in a slower-paced place to enjoy the moment.

They found a noodle shop run by locals that served authentic fried noodles that were fragrant but not greasy. Zhou Zhou enjoyed them so much that he licked the corners of his mouth.

After eating, they took a stroll down the street before heading to the seaside.

Zhou Zhou was the type to get tired after just a few steps. He sat under a tree by the sea and refused to walk any further.

“I’m so tired. It’s a bit hot, and I’m sleepy.”

Cheng Che:”……”

So Zhou Zhou was led back to the hotel by Cheng Che as he wished. They took a shower and then took a nap.

***

They slept until nearly evening. The golden sunlight poured through the curtains, casting a deep and intense light on the snow-white sheets. Zhou Zhou turned over and snuggled into Cheng Che’s arms, sniffing the alpha’s scent. He murmured something.

“What?” Cheng Che’s voice sounded lazy, indicating he had just woken up.

“I want to eat…” Zhou Zhou muttered, “I’m a bit hungry.”

“Pig,” Cheng Che said.

Zhou Zhou immediately raised his head and glared at Cheng Che in the dim light. “You’re the pig! Your whole family are pigs!”

“If that’s the case, why are you with me? It means you’re also a pig.”

“Childish,” Zhou Zhou didn’t want to argue with Cheng Che. He lay flat and stretched lazily. “It seems like sunset is just around the corner. Let’s go to the balcony and take a look.”

“Do pigs like watching sunsets?” Cheng Che asked, relaxing with his eyes closed.

“Can you just stop it?!” Zhou Zhou exclaimed.

The two got up, opened the balcony door a crack, and Zhou Zhou started to retreat. “Oh my god, it’s too hot outside. Let’s just stay in the air-conditioned room. We can watch the sunset through the glass door, can’t we?”

Cheng Che stood behind him with his hands around his shoulders. He opened the door. “Why don’t you just watch the sunset on TV?”

Quietly, Zhou Zhou stepped out onto the balcony.

The view was vast, with the endless sea not far away. The setting sun was splendid, reflecting on the sea. The brilliant sunset seemed to ignite the ocean like a torch, burning brightly and colouring the entire sky and sea in magnificent hues. The humid sea breeze blew in, and the temperature difference from the air-conditioned room made Zhou Zhou a little uncomfortable, but he was reluctant to go back inside.

“It’s so beautiful,” Zhou Zhou leaned on the railing, his hand supporting his chin. “When I was at the Alpha Centre, I always thought the scenery was beautiful when the sun went down. Now I realise that the sunset by the sea is even more beautiful.”

“However, the sunset in high school is still the most unforgettable,” Zhou Zhou said.

“Yes,” Cheng Che replied.

No matter how stunning other sceneries may be in the future, what remains vivid in memory is probably the youthful school years. The naive yet sincere affection, the hidden and cautious confessions, the nervous excitement in mundane studies – these are moments filled with countless joys and secrets, giving each sunrise and sunset a different meaning.

“I’m really glad to have met you,” Zhou Zhou turned to Cheng Che and said.

Cheng Che placed a hand on Zhou Zhou’s face, lifted his chin, leaned down, and under the grand sunset, amidst the continuous sound of waves, in the gentle sea breeze, he kissed Zhou Zhou.

With the salty, humid, and passionate scent of the late summer ocean, the golden-orange sunlight enveloped their profiles gently and brightly.

“I feel the same way,” Cheng Che whispered in response, pressing his lips against Zhou Zhou’s.
